    I've compared your recipes to others on TH-cam, and I find myself coming back to you, your ingredient lists for every recipe are not complicated, and your recipes are very very good, (excellent ) and you explain step by step in great detail, my favorite Mexican chefs are Rick Bayless and Pati Jinich, and you my dear are right there with them! 😊

    I must say this has been my favorite recipe. Love the spices throughout as well as the texture of the dough especially when it is baked. It is absolutely perfect flavors and textures. I love the use of cone sugar/that flavor is unbelievable. Makes all the difference in that authentic taste I crave.

    Thank you for sharing this recipe. I never learned how to make these before my madrecita passed on. I do regret it, until now. I’ve searched for years for an authentic recipe. This is how I remember watching in the kitchen as she preparing everything needed. I also remember her using Yams or Camotes as well as pumpkins. Oh the joy I have!!

      I made them & they came out great. So good I tried a second time, dough came out super soggy, tried it the third time & still too gooey. What in the world is going on? I’m going by the video 100%! Help!

    My first time I ate empanadas was in San Antonio TX in 1978. There was a little restaurant which had 50 plus ways you could make them. I loved this restaurant and the many ways they maked this dish. I still have their menu from 1978. I only lived in San Antonio for a few months but I will never forget this Mexican restaurant.

      The name was Empanadas something. My things are in storage right now but I will always keep that menu . We called them fried pies. Because they was deep fried and only .99 cent each. Buy 3 and you had a meal. You could buy a meat one, veggie one and dessert one. You could buy wine or beer there. This was like a drive through or patio restaurant.

      as of date she has a cook book, “Simply Mama Cooks”. My sister bought and loves it. Her recipes are Tex-Mex , which is what I grew up eating. I live in Florida now and her recipes have rescued me from the Mexican Restaurants that are here. 🌹

    The empanadas came out fantastic! The dough was perfect the sweetness! and the filling using piloncillo was great! I just made these empanadas using a Musquee de Provence pumpkin (I boiled the pumpkin with a little water and cinnamon sticks). I also did not add anis but replaced it with nutmeg. Easy and fun recipe ! thank you Gochujang Mama!

    I just made these . The masa was holly hell, but well worth it. I used can pumpkin and baked for 20 min. They came out fantastic. Thanks for shareing. I will try your Souza enchiladas next.

    These are amazing! I make them at least 2 month for my boyfriend. However, I did modify the recipe a bit. I found that my dough was wayyy too wet with only 2 cups of flour. I know the goal is a tacky dough, but it was extremely wet just by following the recipe to the point where sometimes the dough wouldn’t cook fully. I added just under a 1/2 cup of flour so that the dough would actually form a loose ball. They are still perfectly soft but not wet. Thanks for the recipe!

    This is the best recipe! Most of the recipe on Facebook don’t use yeast and they’re more like a turnover without the frying...my mother-n-law made hers with yeast, unfortunately she didn’t leave a recipe. I’m going to try this for the upcoming holiday. Thank you.

    I found the mother lode! This is gold to me I have been asking and asking searching and searching begging at panedarias for the recipe for the BREAD!!! to make pumpkin empanadas.     I love your videos!! Growing up in a non traditional mexican house we rarely ate good mexican food. I mean we did but it wasnt hardcore. Im 36 and i barely found out what trompo was last year!!! My husband is traditional mexican. My mil can cook! But i cant lol not traditional mexican food. I found your channel by accident. Most youtube channels for mexican food are in spanish which i dont speak well. Or if they were in english they werent thorough. But your channel is awesome. Its in english lol thorough and just the kind of recipes im looking for!!

    This video was sent to me for the pumpkin. I thought I would just use a coconut pastry type dough used in my culture to complete it because it looks similar, but I decided to try doing the dough as prescribed. Boy was it annoying! But, it was so worth it!!! That dough, that dough. Thanks for yet another way to prepare pastry dough. I enjoyed it. It was child approved and disappeared quickly. I will do this again.       I actually am not sure if its called that, but I just titled it that way, because a lot of the empanada recipes use more of a crispy pie dough. :)

    I am going to try your recipe and ingredients, I have already prepared my pumpkin in a giant roaster the giant pumpkins filled and so we steamed them they just scooped out of the skin like butter! And I will make a lot for my huge family!

    My second time making these! Great recipe. Both times I used sweet potato instead. And I packed mine full with the filling and didn’t have any spills in the oven. I noticed after waiting a few hours the dough was much softer, And tasted better. My family loved these empeñadas so much I had to double the recipe this time! EDIT: Now probably my 10th time making these. Only thing I don't agree with is her method of mixing the ingredients. Mix all dry ingredients separate, then add the shortening, yeast mixture, egg and milk. I also add an extra tsp of yeast, extra cinnamon.

      I just had to throw away a batch of dough i tried making because i followed the exact steps she says and the dough was not cooperating i even had to keep adding flour which she said not too but it was too gewy still 😩😔

    So I just made them and the flavor is amazing! 🤤 Whoever, I’m not a big fan of the texture of the dough. I guess what I’m trying to say is that, I’m used to eating empanadas that are fluffy. Like “pan”. But they tasted really good.

    I boil my pumpkin first, then I scrape the pumpkin meat out of the skin, then I add the spices and cook it over the stove. I then drain it cause it lets out a lot of water. I then make my dough. My grandson loves empandas.

    Hi. I just saw your video on making empanadas, and it looks so similar to the recipe my mom used to make. My mom passed away three years ago and one thing that we never got to get from her, was her recipe on making enpanadas that she always made for us. I remember her adding the yeast and seeing the dough rise.
