The most powerful Nintendo handheld at the time of this release was the DS. Considering the switch launched in 2017 (7 years after red dead redemption), the fact that the switch plays it is pretty impressive.
If the Nintendo Switch can run RDR and many other console games, then even a budget smartphone nowdays should be able to and yet free to play games dominate the phone market which is a shame!
I still remember when my mother came over for a visit, who had no idea how far gaming had come in a decade, and she just couldn't believe what was happening when she saw RDD on the Xbox 360.
If anyone is going to play RDR this is the version to play and buy over the PS4 version. The switch version runs extremely well and you can take it with you anywhere! I played over 2 hours of it during my flight to California last week.
Unpopular opinion: despite how scummy rockstar with this, if you haven’t played it before and think you’d be into a cowboy game, it’s 100% worth full price. I don’t say this for many games, but after playing red dead 1 for the first time through this method I can confidently say it’s one of the greatest games ever made, it runs perfectly and it does look nicer than the ps3/xbox where they were natively form, plus being able to play it anywhere it’s worth every penny for me. The pricing is disgusting but this is one of the few games that gets a pass for me
I've been super curious about this one. I've played it, but I would buy it again. I've been debating on a switch for years cause I'm busy AF. But this is one is really enjoy. Just need GTA5 now (game is prolly to huge)
bro at this point you totally should even if its just the lite version. Especially if you are very busy and love to game. I see Switch lites very cheap now and with a game or 2 usually on facebook marketplace. It is worth it. so many amazing titles now.

Rdr1 on switch is still lazy the ui is still 720p while in handheld it doesn't matter since its a 720p screen on tv it is annoying since the game runs at 1080p
the switch is literrally a pocket sized xbox 360 idk why it took rockstar so long to start having their 360 era games ported. especially since re-releasing gta v (a 360 game) is rockstar's favorite thing to do
For me whats the point of playing handheld if you cant get 4-6hrs of gameplay. Till those windows handhelds gets on par with the battey life on the switch. Then im sticking with the switch
It depends on what you're playing, on my steam deck older games consume less battery and you can get more than 3 or 4 hours but more demanding and newer games will give you about an hour or hour and half
gta 4 is going to require a lot more power compared to this game, the switch can barely handle the gta trilogy, they disabled the interiors to that game in order to run it
@@overcastskyline1747 GTA4 would run and look better on the Switch than it did on the 360 or PS3. The Switch is more powerful. The reason it doesn't run GTA Trilogy well is because those games were remastered and unoptimized. Rockstar put minimal effort in that trilogy and were slammed for it.

I remember being amazed at SNES games like Super Mario Advance running a small handheld back in 2001. Now we have big open world games running on a device that is the basically the same size as a GBA.

They outdid themselves? They literally put in the bare minimum of effort for this amazing game while GTA5 got remastered twice and spans across 3 generations of consoles. Supporting this is letting Rockstar know that consumers will eat up ANYTHING.

I think it looks okay on Switch. It’s like Skyrim. It’s very cool they got it running but it just isn’t as good looking as ps4. This is all the more upsetting because I think the switch can handle the graphical tune up
