Just like RDR1 was ahead of it's time for the year 2010 similarly, RDR2 is ahead of its time, raising the bar of brilliance ever higher: Nothing short of a masterpiece. Plain and simple
I can agree except for one point: Ragdolls Unfortunately the ragdolls are not that complex and advanced in RDR2 as it was in RDR1 but the reason for that is, that since GTA5 the euphoria engine isnt a feature with priority anymore (Rockstar Games said this once in an interview)... Sad story...
One of the most amazing things about RDR2, for me at least, is the weather. The thunderstorms at night where you can't see until a lightning bolt shoots across the sky, or the sandstorms and blizzard where legit can't see five feet in front of you. How the character and your horse react to it. Absolutely insane. I love the way his hair grows, and how he sweats in the heat. The fact that if he comes home covered in mud, he gets yelled at to bathe, or how he gets tired if he doesn't get enough sleep and it changes his shooting.
Rdr2 is one of my favorite games but I disagree about the weather. Instead of slow realistic transitions between cloud patterns and weather types, it just quickly transitions in a matter of seconds. Ive played on Xbox and ps4 and it's the same on both so it's not a bug and no one ever talks about it. It will be clear skies and then all of the sudden transition into a rainy day in 3 secs and then 30 secs later transition back to clear. The weather system is completely broken..
RDR2 looks like how I remembered RDR1 looking when I played it back in the day. RockStar does't make a lot of games but you know that when they do, it will have some of the best production value ever seen in video games. RDR2, to me, is still the most quality video game I've ever experienced.
Gonna be really interesting when we look back at how graphics have developed 8 years after Red Dead 2. Especially considering how good we thought Red Dead 1 looked back in the day.
I wish it end Being a Trilogy cause there isn't That much Of Game Trilogy..If this one end in 3rd one than rdr series will be sure called the best Trilogy

RDR1's ragdoll physics are still the top in gaming overall. Even RDR2 couldn't keep up. Edit: to anyone saying no, i have a video on my channel proving that RDR2 forces the bodies to fall in pre-set positions. Variation is very limited. Be warned, you won't be able to unsee how bad the Ragdolls are after the video
It's crazy how completely different it handles compared to Rdr2. The horse physics improved so much. I never realized how much of a priviledge it was to be able to make hairpin turns without much difficulty

RDR2 had a great game to be influenced with-itself. And in that sense it’s noticeably better, but you get the idea. Besides BOTW I don’t see a lot of other recent games nailing those physics, muscle movements and small behaviors like R* did
i remember how blown away i was first seeing the mud and snow effects in rdr2. the detail in the trail you're making to how dirty you get from falling down on the ground. it was an amazing detail to see back in 2018 and it still is. truly ahead of its time.

I always said with Red Dead 1 in particular, "ok I'm satisfied, video games have reached a point to where they'll always look good if they're at least this good looking." Years later, I still stand by that.
They crazy part about RDR2 is certain parts of the game are stand alone games of their own, big game hunting, fishing, stage coach robbery, poker. Just a masterpiece.
Personally, I'd have to say Red Dead Redemption 2 wins overall. It has a more varied map, better gameplay (in my opinion), and more activities to do in the open world. I know that Red Dead Redemption was released in 2010, so it obviously can't be as detailed as Red Dead Redemption 2, but I feel Rockstar already knew what they had to build off of with Red Dead Redemption 2.

I always found the ragdoll and the detail of the bullet marks on the NPCs incredible in Rdr1, in fact, I even think it's superior to the 2nd game, apart from that the game has many details that remain current... but in general terms Rdr2 is unbeatable, although there was a very small downgrade in this detail of Ragdoll in the 2nd, it greatly elevates everything that the 1st game did, and its story is one of the most incredible stories I've ever seen playing video games... well, Rockstar made two amazing games
I think it'd be more suiting to ask which do we prefer. Both are amazing looking pieces of art. I find it meaningless when people always pit older games that were well received at the time against modern titles that are obviously superior *technically*. Maybe a decade from now, Redemption II may not look all that flashy like it does today.
I don't think graphics will improve too much in the near future for Rockstar. It will probably be technical stuff like raytracing, render distances, liquid physics and resolutions. Rockstar has patented some new AI NPC technology however, and I bet that NPC behavior comparisons will be trending on TH-cam in 8 years where RDR2 NPCs seem fake to us in comparison. I also suspect their future games will have seasons and dynamically changing temperatures like RDR2 has realistic weather, and other technical improvements like that.

Exactly, rdr1 feels more Arcady & at times more like a western (prob cuz it’s further out west) It feels cartoony and the characters are more over the top. Whereas rdr2 is more grounded and real but full of small & tiny details.
@@lesgrossman6332 Red Dead Revolver better fits the description you gave rdr1. imo, the first Red Dead Redemption was the perfect blend of arcady and grounded. A believable world mixed with gameplay that doesn't feel so delicate. Don't get me wrong, rdr2 is a great game but it often feels too much like a simulator for my tastes.
I definitely like the Dead Eye better in RDR1. I also like the drunk animations. I remember I came out of that bar stumbling around at night once and John passed out right next to the alley behind it. A woman just so happened to be getting stabbed right at that moment and I could NOTHING but lay there and watch. It made me feel the impact of being too drunk to help someone. It was a wild experience.

But the walkstyle for all walking, jogging and running are different than from Arthur's. Maybe not the same as in the original game, but you can see the difference from Arthur's.

RDR1 is not only the best but it was ahead of its time. I went to its midnight release. I recall playing it in the living room and a family member asked, "What movie are you watching". All my gaming friends online were in awe about it. We played for hours telling each other how realistic it was, the horse movement/muscle etc. RDR2 is awesome but RDR1 paved the/its way.

RDR1 John has contextual voice lines for literally everything. A feature that didn't carryover in RDR2. and it's a shame because the combat lines were so good in RDR1
My wife saw me play RDR2 first (I played RDR1 when I was a teenager before I got with her) and when I showed her RDR1 after RDR2, she was still pretty impressed with how amazing the graphics where for the time that it came out

I bought RDR1 at launch because of a friend recommendation, played about an hour and didn’t like it….About a year or two later decided to give it another go and really stuck with it! I 100 per cented it because I loved it so much! An incredible game! Come red dead 2, my mind was blown by just how advanced gaming had become! Love or hate rdr2 it’s technically excellent! Funny to think that future children will look at RDR2 like we do the dinosaur tech demo on the PS1 demo one 😂😂

Lack of sleep changes the way he shoots? In what does it change? I've never noticed anything about that

Yep. Much better. Ragdoll physics have been downgraded in RDR2. Bodies are programmed to fall into the same, pre set positions.

I always found the ragdoll and the detail of the bullet marks on the NPCs incredible in Rdr1, in fact, I even think it's superior to the 2nd game, apart from that the game has many details that remain current... but in general terms Rdr2 is unbeatable, although there was a very small downgrade in this detail of Ragdoll in the 2nd, it greatly elevates everything that the 1st game did, and its story is one of the most incredible stories I've ever seen playing video games... well, Rockstar made two amazing games

I think it'd be more suiting to ask which do we prefer. Both are amazing looking pieces of art. I find it meaningless when people always pit older games that were well received at the time against modern titles that are obviously superior *technically*. Maybe a decade from now, Redemption II may not look all that flashy like it does today.

I don't think graphics will improve too much in the near future for Rockstar. It will probably be technical stuff like raytracing, render distances, liquid physics and resolutions.
Rockstar has patented some new AI NPC technology however, and I bet that NPC behavior comparisons will be trending on TH-cam in 8 years where RDR2 NPCs seem fake to us in comparison. I also suspect their future games will have seasons and dynamically changing temperatures like RDR2 has realistic weather, and other technical improvements like that.
@@noamias4897 I believe it definitely makes sense because so far the graphics are top notch nothing really to fix besides the smaller things like you mentioned.
Exactly, rdr1 feels more Arcady & at times more like a western (prob cuz it’s further out west) It feels cartoony and the characters are more over the top. Whereas rdr2 is more grounded and real but full of small & tiny details.
@@lesgrossman6332 Red Dead Revolver better fits the description you gave rdr1. imo, the first Red Dead Redemption was the perfect blend of arcady and grounded. A believable world mixed with gameplay that doesn't feel so delicate. Don't get me wrong, rdr2 is a great game but it often feels too much like a simulator for my tastes.
RDR2 obviously is better in eveything, except Dead Eye. That shit was fucking satisfactory in RDR1.

I definitely like the Dead Eye better in RDR1. I also like the drunk animations. I remember I came out of that bar stumbling around at night once and John passed out right next to the alley behind it. A woman just so happened to be getting stabbed right at that moment and I could NOTHING but lay there and watch. It made me feel the impact of being too drunk to help someone. It was a wild experience.

Not gonna lie but RDR Looks so Incredible for 2010 and RDR2 looks Unreal for 2018. Both the Games were ahead of their time. And Even Today RDR2 is on par with new games in terms of graphics

RDR1 is not only the best but it was ahead of its time. I went to its midnight release. I recall playing it in the living room and a family member asked, "What movie are you watching". All my gaming friends online were in awe about it. We played for hours telling each other how realistic it was, the horse movement/muscle etc. RDR2 is awesome but RDR1 paved the/its way.
I remembered, can't stop playing RdR back then... from single player, online on xbox and even Undead nightmare. love the graphics and those detail.
And the crazy thing is is that RDR2 is made for PS4 era. A console with hardware almost 10 years old in 2022.

Like rdr deadeye had big goofy x marks and rdr2 has small x's. That and also it came out when I was a kid. fuckin love the red dead redemption series

My wife saw me play RDR2 first (I played RDR1 when I was a teenager before I got with her) and when I showed her RDR1 after RDR2, she was still pretty impressed with how amazing the graphics where for the time that it came out
We all know that RDR2 is amazing and ahead of it's time.
What shocked me though, was how ahead of it's time RDR1 also was, the ragdoll, detail, and the muscles in the horses portruding when they walk, is all very ahead of it's time in 2010

I bought RDR1 at launch because of a friend recommendation, played about an hour and didn’t like it….About a year or two later decided to give it another go and really stuck with it! I 100 per cented it because I loved it so much! An incredible game! Come red dead 2, my mind was blown by just how advanced gaming had become! Love or hate rdr2 it’s technically excellent!
