also i think the dusty purple color looks great on you! it highlights your warm tones by comparison and maybe even slightly olive leaning skin tone?! truly stunning
Make a small jig to block the squares. A board with four long nails (something that won’t rust) or dowels in drilled holes will ensure a consistent size.
Regarding the Battenberg blanket: I think the silver/gold square matches well with the other colours and it gives you a nice light to dark variation within the squares. One thing that might be important to consider: using a cream colour for the sqaures inbetween might not look well with the gold/silver square since it wouldn't really have as much contrast. If the yarn is more shiny in real life than on camera it might work but if not maybe consider using another base colour. Maybe a light green tone or a very warm beige :)
I'm also making the battenberg blanket and don't worry my squares are NOT the same size. I'm hoping they even out with blocking 🤞. I've also been thinking about the cream yarn and decided buying undyed would be the cheapest way to get a large quantity, I'm thinking of getting mine from world of wool (though I don't know if they post to Canada). I just wanted to mention that you need to buy more yarn than you think, I've been watching knitty natty and she originally bought the same quantity of the cream colour as her scrap yarns but she had to buy more because you use extra cream when joining the squares together. I don't know how much extra though!
Thank you for the reminder!! I will probably start with two extra skeins and go from there? I’ll also want to get some bare yarn for my Stella quilt cushion, so I will probably just place a massive order to have a stock of bare yarn 🧶
As someone who has been crocheting for a few years now, I wanted to say that amigurumi (at least in my experience) are much less complicated than they seem. I made one for probably my second project ever and as long as you have some locking stitch markers so you don't lose your bor, etc. and you know which side of your crochet is the RS/ WS (my biggest issue starting), it's really quite manageable. The jellyfish pattern is so cute!
The ravioli pillow is not useless, it’s decorative. 😆 And as others have said, dusty violet looks good on you! A great color choice indeed. Looking forward to the pattern release! 😀
I love this perspective! I just watched an interior design video from Noah Daniel this morning, and he quoted and architect (I think) who said “pleasure is a function”
I think the mauve/purple camisole is a beautiful colour for you. You should wear more of it. Your crochet blanket is going to be beautiful, however, one word of advice....sew in your ends as you go. I did a granny blanket years ago with over 100 squares and it was quite a chore to do it at the end. Rosie
Thank you Rosie! I definitely have more purple planned for the future, so stay tuned :) I will definitely be sure to crochet in my ends as i do my joining; it has been a great skill to practice as I make the squares too!
The gold and silver yarn looks great with the other colors! I think it brings out the brassy tones and balances out the other colors, I think the blanket would be too pink otherwise. Also, you totally influenced me to knit a mixed rib cami, I need one in a warm latte brown!
Hi Emily. This is one piece only. ‘Ravioli’ is the plural (more than one) so in Italian restaurants you order ‘ravioli’ ( a dish with a few). Your single piece should be called ‘raviolo’ as it is only one ( masculine, singular). Have fun! Lots of love. Simonetta
Emily! This color and design looks so pretty and elegant on you! You are stunning! Also, I’ve heard about a clip that draws bra straps inward towards the middle of the back. I wonder if that might work for this top? Anyway this color is great on you 🥰
When are you coming to Italy? Prepare for hot and humid, as I assume it will be during your summer vacation. If you happen to be visiting Pienza, about 35 miles south of Siena, let me know. It would be great fun to meet you. I'd even feed you or meet you for a coffee or a spritz. BTW, I enjoy your podcast. Let me know.
Hi, thanks for the video! Watched it while knitting my honeycomb aran 😊 the top is sooo gorgeous and I love the idea of crotcheing the octopus yourself - don't worry, my very first crochet project was an amigurumi (an otter), so you'll definitely get through it 😊 One piece of constructive critique on the video: I listened with overear headphones and all of your sound seems to be centered on the right ear - it's nothing major, but maybe a way to improve your already great videos 😊 much love from Germany ❤
Thank you for letting me know about this; I am not sure how to remedy the sound issue, but I will definitely investigate. Is this something you have noticed on many of my videos?
I think this dusty violet colour looks great on you Emily! Beautiful pattern also!🥰

Thank you!!
I second the comments about the color you're wearing. You glow in purple tones, they really suit you so well.

This is a super helpful tip! Thank you 😊
So many fun patterns and unique ideas! Love to see what you're coming up with, it's really refreshing
Thank you so much 😊 it has been a year of adventure for me certainly

Beautiful project for the yarn! ❤ And the grey variegated colorway looks good with the others, at least on camera, so I'd say go for it 🥰
Thank you!! The super sock has made such a gorgeous and plush crochet fabric; I’m loving it!
Hi, Emily! I think your gold and silver yarn looks good with the other colors on camera, as long as you think it does in person!
I think the gold and silver looks lovely with your other colours.
Thank you! I’m getting more convinced 😁
Beautiful pattern also ❤❤❤❤
The dusty violet suits you so well 😍. I need to add this pattern to my house wish to make list
Thank you! It is a truly wonderful camisole 😊
Yes to the gold/silver colourway for the blanket :)
We’re going for it!!
love the happy/sad jellyfish amigurumi idea! could you share the ravelry link for that?
Yes I will add it to the description asap!
I'm also working on a Battenberg Blanket!
I hope you’re enjoying it!! Definitely a long haul project, but I feel like it will be an heirloom piece!

I think the dusty violet looks incredible on you! That pattern is on my list once it comes out and this episode sold me on it even more
Thank you! The pattern should now be released!!
that purple color looks so good with your hair and eye color ahhhh so pretty ❤❤
Thank you!!
I think the second variegated would go very well with the rest of the squares for the granny blanket 😊

Please consider using chenille yarn for your jellyfish

Ooooooo I love the idea of a latte brown cami, and I think you’re right about the heavy pink presence without the brass!

Thank you, Simonetta! Always happy to be learning :)

Oh yes! I forgot about those clips; I’ve even seen a paper clip used! And thank you so much for your kind words 😁
Hi. What brand are your black trousers, they look very classy and comfortable. Where did you purchase them? Are they cotton or linen? Thanks so much.
Thank you! The pants are a linen blend from Old Navy!
Yes for the gold silver.

We will be around in August! Planning to have lots and lots of water :)
The octoplushie is cute. :)
The link under the mixed rib camisole. I cannot find the pattern of the camisole on the Florence Miller pattern.
Yes! The pattern has yet to be released, which is why I did not directly link it
Yes, include the gold in your blanket😄
Thank you! This seems to be the consensus 😊
to be honest i think a lot of amigurumi are very beginner friendly. they are mostly a combination of single crochet and basic increases and decreases.
My confidence is growing 😊😊
