I sew and knit, and the main difference to me between both: knitting, you actually knit 90% of the time (the remaining 10% is blocking and weaving ends 😅), whereas sewing is 10% of actual sewing behind the machine, the remaining 90% is prewashing the fabric/ironing before cutting/cutting/pinning/ironing another thousand times. "Sewing" is a scam 😂😂 But still love it.

Keep the sewing coming- the good, the bad and the ugly. I do both as well. My biggest frustration with sewing is the machine. When it works, it’s great, but when it doesn’t, I get extremely frustrated.

For the puckering solution for your dress, sometimes it's the nature of the fabric. You can pair it with a heavier fusing if you want or maybe using the self fabric for inside can help as it is more rigid. If you want to correct it you will need to open the top of your dress...The more you sew the more you learn! For next time you can also make a swatch with fusing and see how it will react.
You can starch it but each time you will wash it the starch will come off.
    Love your channel btw! :)

Thank you for this advice! It's definitely one of those crafts where you learn as you go and this is something I'll have to be mindful of for next time! I love the idea of a swatch! It's something I consider so important for knitting, but I forget I should do it when sewing too!

Yes to a knit and chat!
    Some questions:
Podcast: who came up with the idea of doing a podcast?
    Knitting:
What’s your favourite item to knit? What yarn do you wish you could always knit with? What have you made that you were super excited about and yet don’t use it wear that much?
Personal: what is your craziest twin story? How did you meet your husbands? Have you always lived close to each other?
I love that you included your sewing. I learned to knit and sew as a kid but always reach for my knitting first as it takes so much less set up than sewing does!
Oh and I was knitting on an instant crush to use up some mohair I had in stash- wish I’d read the comments from your last episode! Lol

I’m from KC too and currently live in Olathe. My aunt was close friends with the women who died. They went to high school together. The whole situation is so incredibly heartbreaking. I can’t imagine what their family must be going through. My heart aches for them. We almost went to the parade and took our children but last minute decided to stay home. It’s crazy to think that it could have been us just as easily. 💔
I’m glad to see that you two are safe. Sending love to you both!

It might be helpful to start with a pattern that repeats only one type of cable just to get used to it, so something like sweater no. 15 could be a good starter! Cables are one of those magical techniques that look impressive, but usually aren’t too difficult, so we hope you enjoy them! 🤍

The baby sweater is absolutely adorable and the sideways cardigan is incredible. As to the wrinkles on the bust of the dress, it looks like the bodice is in 2 pieces (upper and lower). If I’m seeing that correctly, you eased too much of the upper bodice into the bottom bodice at the center front in the bust curvature area. If it’s meant to be eased, it should be spread out more rather than concentrated at center front. If it isn’t meant to be eased, you’ve just misaligned your edges (or notches). To be honest though, I didn’t notice it until you mentioned it -- and I sew a lot.

    • @thosetwinswhoknit
      @thosetwinswhoknit  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

This is super helpful! You’re correct, the bust is made of two pieces. I would love to make another one this summer since I think it’ll be a super versatile piece, so I’ll have to pay more attention to the ease and my edges. I bet that’s my issue! Thank you!

Please stand up & show the fit of the sweaters. It would help SO much in deciding if it is a pattern I’d like to try…

May I ask what size needles do you gals use to knit the fingering weight socks? Thank you.

Of course! Most of the time we use a US 2 but we are very tight knitters 🙈

I love the ribbing at 7cm and agree that 14cm would be too long

Everything is lovely but that black dress is gorgeous. Embroidery on the bodice or beaded on the top edge. I do t sew.

Ohh that would be so beautiful on it!! My embroidery skills are probably a bit rusty but that would be such a lovely touch to some sewing projects ☺️
