Hey bro I highly recommend meditation and the book Four Thousand Weeks: Time Management for Mortals… it’s not a normal bs self help book, it’s more about accepting the limitations of your time on Earth and being serious about figuring out priorities. And meditation is just about focus and acceptance too.

@@TheGamer2323 real talk, have you considered because maybe you haven't found the ultimate purpose of life? isn't the fact that you're doing what you love for a living proof that there is more to life than that? food for thought, i feel like a lot of people are feeling like this lately

    • @TheGamer2323
      @TheGamer2323  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +11

@@231doughboysearching for your “purpose” in life gets kind of glamorized at times in my opinion. Do you want to be doing something you enjoy for a living? Yes. But life has many different layers of both good and bad. It doesn’t end once you find that “thing”. Some people drive themselves crazy trying to find their “purpose” in life when sometimes it’s really not even that deep. People are just tired of working until their 70s and not feeling appreciated for it or feeling like it was worth it after all the years.
Combine that now with people having access to others peoples lives via social media and how they live and it’s created more questions and feelings of “there has to be something more for me” than ever before. People weren’t questioning their purpose in life back in the days before the internet like they do now.

@@TheGamer2323 I think you misunderstood- I was talking about something deeper. I don’t believe every person has their “own” purpose of life. That would mean your purpose of life is subjective. Felt this. I lost my job 5 months ago and was almost homeless. Had to use my savings that was going towards a car, Kinda lost my mind for a little bit with how much I was struggling and ain’t none of my people checkin up on me. Friends and family I talk to or check up on once or every other week all of a sudden I was a nobody, a ghost. Months went by and not a single call or text just checking to see if I was even alive. Legit broke my heart. Had to do what was fair to me a cut em all off (not like they give a fuck anyway) and just move on with life without them. Always check up on your people especially the ones that have been there for you in the past when you were at your lowest.

I'm in my early 50s and I have been there! I can tell you what I did to alleviate feeling overwhelmed. Deliberately spend time with people who fill you up and don't drain you. Therapy. Try to hone in on why you're overwhelmed. Is it in your control? Are you getting things done? Take a social media vacation (or since you create content, try to automate as much as you can and minimize your interactions). Finally, for me, I believe in better living through pharmaceuticals. I'm a big pharma over green pharma but whatever you use it should improve your ability to feel less overwhelmed. Anyhow, I don't know much about you but take care of your mind and spirit and kick all those things to the curb that don't allow you to have peace in your life. Good luck!

I'm 49 and been on the internet since I was 25. I've been gaming since I was 8. And I've been following you since forever. Now I work 6/7 days a week, so when I am home, I just want to stay home, game a little bit(Loving the Steam Deck), and hangout at the grill. Otherwise, I'm fixing something, or taking someone somewhere, or running errands.
The older I get the more I just want to do "nothing", if the chance comes. I took a break from gaming, except on the Steam Deck, streaming, and hanging out. For fun I like to code, game, stream, grill, read, watch movies, and road trip. But seems like there is never enough time to enjoy things.

I’ve neglected my mental health for far too many years, so this is coming from a person that lives with the regret of not acting sooner and consequently, my mental state has suffered. 44 years old, two young boys a decent job, have a house and a huge ass mortgage and yeah bills suck. I'll tell you what makes things better for me
    1) cut off social media for me it was nuts Facebook, once it was gone felt a relief.
    2) still do something you love, for me that's hockey once a week getting out and it's just me doing what I've always enjoyed.
    3) Appreciate the small things in life, I tell you you say how can you do it with kids. My boys made me selfless, I love seeing the joy in them and raising them to be strong men.
    4) stop watching or listening to all the toxicity in the media, it's all bad news. The weather, the inflation the politics. Forget the left vs right nonsense. It's US verses them(government in general) they want us to be in conflict.
    5) Turn your cell phone ringer off and notifications off, only get to them when you feel you have time. When I was in high school cell phones weren't even a thing I had no problem going home and checking the answering machine when I was home and calling friends up when I could.
    6) Surround yourself with the ones you love and positivity, don't keep toxic individuals around.
    7) Love Love Love
Gaming is not the same for me as it use to be, but some of my best gaming these days is with the best co op friends I've ever had. My two boys💕

I miss being a kid and having all the time in the world to game with my friends, watch anime and read manga. But I will say i love my family more than anything, I'll get all the time in the world to do the things I love when my kids move out and I retire. Got multiple retirement accounts I'm investing into, the money and time will be there. Just try to enjoy life where you are at now, it'll get better in our later years brother, right now we're on that grind. Also, I think you are on the right path for mental health relief with your Ebike journey. Since I got my motorcycle I have felt a level of freedom I haven't felt in a long time. As an adult, I understand when folks talk about the good ol' days when they didn't worry about much, save homework, chores and hanging with friends. Having so many more responsibilities piled on you can be stressful for anyone, and some folks peaked earlier than others. Not to mention while I did sometimes hear adults around me talk about how they recently paid taxes and such...why did NOBODY bother to tell me that you gotta do that joint every freakin' year, and that it kicks in the INSTANT I pick up a job? Thank goodness my first job was the military and someone was there to let me know, but would it KILL schools to teach this stuff? Finances, too.
Speaking from the flip side of that perspective, adulting has its cons--but I personally like the freedom I have now. Still feel like being a kid kinda sucked for me, in more ways than one. Maybe if I went back in the past with my current brain I could find ways to make it better...but otherwise, and I say this as someone in his 30's....nah. Heck if I was gonna re-do anything, it'd probably be my 20s.

I’m a college student in nursing, 27, working 12 hour shift and only a couple close friends that I met online. And just now gaining the courage to go out and try and meet people! In this age, close relationships are slim, and I’ve lost a friend through differences and it was a true heavy blow.

Becoming spiritual helped me a lot. Not religious, but just opening myself up to that sort of thing. Just acknowledging that there is more beyond what we have here and doing work to build my spirit. Things are still rough, but I have definitely noticed a difference with some things surprisingly working out in the end, and even my general mood and demeanor improving despite having problems.
So, even if you're not a religious or spiritual type person, I think the main thing is finding a way to strengthen yourself within and that would then give you a stronger foundation to deal with worldly problems. It took hitting a brick wall and trying something that was uncomfortable for me to finally feel like I can get through this if I keep going.
Wish you, and everyone else here, the best!

Adulting doesn't suck man. Been watching you since I was a teenager. 30 years old now. It can be overwhelming, but you gotta start with taking time to relax. This might be where you're going wrong. I take 30 - 45 minutes every morning with my woman to relax in bed before going off to work. When I get back, I don't immediately get to things that need getting done. 30 minutes of chilling before getting to anything else. I have hobbies outside of gaming that make me active. I cut down on my drinking by a dramatic degree. I take issues in my life one at a time otherwise getting overwhelmed is very easy. Sometimes life is throwing too much at you as an adult, ESPECIALLY as a grown man because people around you expect you to take responsibility over certain issues. Embrace it. You can take care of issues. You have to believe in yourself first otherwise every serious issue will bring you stress. You're doing good in making sure you keep certain relationships tight. Trust me, the healthy relationships in your life keep you grounded.

When you work from home you don't have structure to your day. I think you need to schedule out your day. Specifically the times when you wake up, eat breakfast, start work, when you break for lunch, exercise, etc. It's really difficult to do that when you're single, cause no one is there to help pull you along and keep structure in the day. Now that I'm married with 2 kids, my schedule revolves around them with their school schedule and making sure they're taken care of. I really think you should start with writing out time blocks for when you accomplish things. Start simple with your eating schedule, when you exercise, and what times you want to be working on youtube content. In fact you probably could turn it into a series where you vlog your day and if it's improved your situation.

I have something to share with you guys...
Whole my life has been about going to school/work and play games after. So last year i had the same setting. But this year something suddenly changed in me, there is this girl who started working in the section where i'm working. Eventually she started to get my attention. I really liked her. And we begun talking to each other about our lives. So she is not like the typical girl who you see everyday as she also plays games BUT she does a lots of running and she has this athletic lifestyle. And because of her i begun running too, obviously to get more of her attention. So i started running and running, i even participated on a marathon. I honestly NEVER thought i would do stuff like this in my life and yes yes i like it now, i like jogging kilometers away. Anyway she then got attracted to me. We talked A LOT and started sharing more things about life with each other. And one day she found out that i like her and then things took a whole different route, she told me she didn't happen to have any feelings for me and that is where my dark days began surfacing up. I felt lost and just didn't know what to do anymore and i do still have the same feelings months later but not as much. I still did my running from time to time, she really did open a door for me to a world i'd never imagined to be in. Doing outside activities. This year i've spent my time more outside because i began to really love it. Now i'm having the regret of not going outside back in the day. Still feel really sad about that whole situation but she did give me a different type of lifestyle that really helps just doing more in life.

dang....I know that probably hurt when you found out she didn't feel the same typa way for you like you did her but it's good you didn't stop doing those activities she got you into. It could of been lifes way of just showing you ''here's some other things you can do to break free from the cycle of life you was on''. Show you that you can do other things in life and still have fun and not necessarily not need anyone with you to do it. If you still enjoy those activities she got you into it can be the start of you meeting many other people a long the way and establishing new relationships. Ya know?

Be veeeery careful with consistently going into recluse mode and deliberately shutting others out when you feel like you're dealing with a lot (outside of special circumstances). I've personally witnessed a lifetime of people that do the same and it has ended badly for every single one of them.

I’ve been subscribed to you since that last of us bro video you made back in 2013 I remember beating games and watching movies over and over and over again the same one because I had so much time on my head with you and your 30s man, everything about you starts to slow down you’ve been start falling asleep more often when you really don’t want to when you’re staying up late so I’m definitely right there with you, but I thought you got your own apartment. I didn’t expect you mention that I’m guessing it was the new design of where you were staying at compared to what it looked like when you were unboxing the PS4.

I had just finished paying off my car that I bought a few years ago. Like a week later, in the middle of the night somebody broke into it, stole it and totaled it. So then I had to go through the car buying process again and had to buy a newer car, and I’m back paying another car note just like that 😂 on top of that I had just started a new job and this happened on my first day. However, on the bright side, I really enjoy the new car, and I’m gonna work hard to pay it off. And also nobody was hurt in that situation thank god. That being said, it’s important to still hold your head up high. We all knew life wasn’t gonna be fair the moment we started thinking like adults. You’re in control of your own mind, your own thoughts, and your view on the world is subjective. It completely depends on how you choose to see things and handle your shortcomings. Sometimes I let it get to me and I shut down, but I was able to cultivate an indomitable human spirit when I changed my views and started thinking about the positives over the negatives and come up with solutions to my problems if I can. Stay blessed people.

Its a battle that fluctuates every day. Every day is a struggle. I watch motivational videos and take vitamins to keep myself active. Its a state of depression and a dark place sometimes. But its all to better myself and to get to the next level. I just have to keep reminding myself. But sometimes I be wanting to throw in the towel because it gets increasingly hard. Which is why I limit social media in general to not think about other people's lives because I am not living theirs and being anti-social to an extent. I think back to what Eric Thomas said back in the day, "As long as I aint dead, God ain''t thru with me yet". One miracle at a time.

Even then, I still find myself in slumps all the time. Trying to balance content creation, maintaining relationships/friendships and having time for yourself to go out and have fun just feels impossible nowadays. The best thing I've learned is to not be pressured by time. We gotta enjoy life for what it is, no matter how hard it gets, and cruise through the time that we do have left. I really appreciate this video! You hit the nail right on the head, and everything you said couldn't be any more true. Keep your head up man, you got this! Been watching since your ps4 unboxing and we’re about the same age. I totally get what you’re feeling because I feel the same way. I get caught in that loop, feeling overwhelmed and stressed with work, and by the time I’m done I’m too tired to do anything. So it feels like I’m not really taking many steps forward.
Doing TH-cam helps me with that sense of fulfillment because it’s something that I’m actually passionate about. I go to church, and on the weekends I try to go out climbing, biking, hiking, etc.
Changing my environment helps a lot too, so even if just going to the store or something it helps.
But yeah man it’s a journey. You’re making money doing something you love and that’s awesome, that’s a MASSIVE W that a lot of people don’t get. Hopefully you find fulfillment in what you’re doing and that keeps pushing you forward. And as you’re moving forward don’t be scared to go on some side quests. Changing up the pace of life keeps things interesting and helps things feel a little less overwhelming because you’re not so fixated on the only the constant stressors of life which

I feel you it’s tough. Was having a conversation with my sister about being an adult and figured out the fatigue is really from looking after yourself. Sounds crazy but when you become an adult you truly have to make every single decision about your life for yourself from cutting your nails to forging a career path to a family and everything in between. You have to make the healthy choices even when you don’t want to, and at the end of the day good or bad it’s down to you to hold yourself accountable.
Suffer from pretty severe ADHD and when I was a kid it was a lot easier when my parents were managing everything but being 27 now I have to do it. Things that honestly help me is setting a schedule I hate the idea of it but having your whole day planned out with open hours and a rest day like Sunday every week has really helped feel better and balance. It’s annoying to really plan everything out like that but it feels better to plan than it’s feels to be spontaneous and just drifting.

Feel this heavy man. I think I'm getting better at managing this feeling, however I do feel a lil more jaded, especially w my city. I'm trying to go full-time freelance artist, but in this economy, it's freaking difficult lol - so my part-time jobs take up most of my time. And I guess I feel jaded because a lot of the popular creatives in my city/community seem to come from affluent backgrounds already, and it just frustrates me that I gotta be put in the same pool as them. And to see newcomers get their shine right away cause they have the clout and can devote their whole day to their craft and have no part-time job cause their parents are rich. I know I sound hella salty, but it just seems like clout and money causes other artists to be looked over, and I gotta put the extra hours out of my day to even be recognized in the creative community and spaces.

I'm listening and although I may not be as busy as you are, I realised over time that I myself can't do everything I would like to do and so I've had to constantly adapt ever so often. For me aside from work and things like that I like to game, watch movies and shows but I've had to schedule my gaming, even cut down on the days I game. I constantly cut down on things on my backlog list (things I wanted to get) just because there will always be more and more games. My upcoming change will be cutting down on immersive games as soon as I've finished my latest list because although I love things like open world games etc., or even linear immersive story, I feels like a drag, chapter after chapter after chapter, I rather some overworld, micromanagement thing and maybe a hop-in hop-out game for the dose of chaos I need, gta 6 will be an exception lol.
I used to be a movie junkie and watch movies out entirely even if they sucked just to say I watched it but I've stopped that many years ago, its just a waste of time so I give it like 10,15,20 minutes and if I'm not feeling it I move on because I have a bunch of other stuff I could watch bookmarked. I just watch like 1 or 2 series at a time, sometimes I wont watch a show for months until I've cleared a few things off from my movie list, sometimes there is a queue in my head. Movies are better for me mentally than shows because I can have a complete story in 1hr+ rather have a hook in me every 1 hr episode of a like 10+ episode season show or something. So yea, these are some of the things I've done and am doing.

I tried to get back into a bit of excersize at home from time to time, I think doing something is better than nothing at all, some bicep curls, jumping jacks, push ups. I also tend to focus on what I want to do so sometimes I leave responding to messages for later until I get my things done. I've never really felt the sense of time going by per say or having passed, except in moments when I find out school mates have kids that are like nearing their 20s or something, blows my mind; I think there will be those with varying degrees of experience when it comes to things like that but balance in life is definitely important, I think we always have to evaluate ourselves and where we are in life, and also be willing to adapt as best as we can.
(P.s. Social media can also have an affect on us, I don't look anymore. I had actually deleted my personal social media account but came back during the pandemic to reconnect, but I remember feeling at times like I missed out on things growing up watching pics of other persons living their lives, I don't think its too healthy though)

So man..what i did is, i switched to a more hybrid scenario.. where i could work from home for a day and 4 days of office work.
Life is somewhat better socially , and i atleast feel like alive.. as i am able to see many people and talk with a few during work hours. It really helps man.and if you get one guy at work who gets you.. its fun going to office as well.... dont do the full wfh scenario for very long stretches.. it will drain you dry.

You are definitely not alone. Hell, I only have one “friend” left and he has a family so he doesn’t really value my friendship and I spend a lot of time alone. Hardly any human contact. It sucks big effin’ time. I hear ya brotha, I hear everything.

Thank you very much for this making video, I am 34 years old and been watching your videos for a few years now, i have been struggling with mental health issues the only way i have found to keep on going is to get out the house once a day for a walk to the local park. Keep up the great work on your videos!

Man I just left a 6 figure plus corporate job 9 - 5 career. You can have money but Hell, I'm tired of buying stuff. I have it all financially. I can go into private practice & make more but that's my situation. I feel this because adulting isn't fun & I encourage youth, have fun while you can. I barely have time to game so when I see gamers rage over perceived nonsense...I don't get it. I have 3 kids and I play on easy or medium. It's not like it was and that's the bottom line. Work/Life balance!

Definitely needed this video!!! Thank you it's nice to know that I'm not the only one. Me being 25 and still trying to figure life out is rough man... I think just trying to see what life has to offer. Patience (long suffering) but once you get past these hurdles it definitely makes adulting worth it

Tell me about it man. Just came back from vacation and the wave of depression that hit me thinking about work and how slow it's been...reality check. Back to the grind.

What works for me is focusing most of my energy on my self, keeping my energy high with positives like music and power naps, staying busy and being more focus on my goals, and right now I'm trying to master the "work first then play later mentality" so I can get more done daily. I have to feel like I'm the main character in my life so that none of the nonsense of this world will defeat me. Gotta stay winning.

My brother, this video came at the perfect time. I am currently overwhelmed with my job and side hustles, trying to get my own place in this crazy economy. First, time I've ever felt anxiety from it. I'm knocking on the door to my 30s now and trying to maintain even tho I put a lot of pressure on myself. Relatable videos like this helps alot knowing in not alone.
