For real though, we've been getting Factor before I even found this channel so I can't even use this code but for anyone else, they are SO GOOD and crazy convenient!
Sorry for your loss. I lost my mother 13 years ago so I can totally relate. And I love what you said about liking back at yourself and wondering who that person was... We change so so much over the years without even knowing it. ❤❤❤❤
This one hit me. Im 29 and working at a thrift shop. My dad is 72 and comes by every so often to crack a joke or give me 10 bucks for lunch. I truly am blessed to still have him here with me.
Yeah man cherish that, i remember when my dad used to come to my job when i was just a cub in my 20’s. He would bring me food and we would eat it at lunch.
I worked at GameStop during this time and had a surprise visit from my dad who was battling pancreatic cancer. He showed up on my motorcycle and wore my helmet while pretending to fill his jacket with random games off the shelves. I wish I had that memory on film too. Having these recordings is such a treasure.
much love bro, my dad passed too 1 month before i turned 8. i miss the fishing and camping and i appreciate u sharin. much love bc i wish i had it on video too
@@tyeshiataylor treatment is getting better every year. My dad beat it for nearly a decade. Don't give up hope and try to be there for him in good times and bad.
You didn't follow your dad's footsteps because you worked retail. You followed your dad's footsteps when you started creating content. Your dad was an OG content creator.
Im about to be 40 this month and diagnosed with cancer in 2020. My son is going to be 16 this year. We both have our love in gaming, and i love our bond over it. This video really pulled at my strings. I also worked at gamestop in 2008 when gta4 came out. I thought i would love working there. Honestly, I hated it. Only good thing about it was we were allowed to check out 2 games to take home.
I send my prayers, positive energy and everything in between for you for the sake of you & your son. Nothing is more crushing than something that can potentially steal time. From one father to another hope you pull through.
I lost my dad back in April and now I just lost my mom last week. Aside from staring at the wall videos like yours are helping to give me something to do. Thank you.
When Manny and your Dad walked into the store, your demeanor was like "ok, whatever". It's crazy how we always see those little moments in life as mundane, but later realize how truly wonderful they were and wish we could go back just one more time.
@@MyRetroLife I was just a baby in 2006. But I can still remember wii sports being one of the very first games I've ever played when I was a child after we got it for Christmas in 2009. Now I'm about to be 20 in November and I still play it and it means so much to me.
Im 32 and I couldnt imagine losing my dad now let alone at 20. This hits pretty hard especially with how much you guys seemed to get along in those videos.
This made me emotional. The 2000s were the best for both video games and anime. I miss when we were all getting along and the biggest debate was xbox vs playstation. I miss going over to friends house and learning new super bounce spots on Halo 2. I miss staying up late to watch cowboy bebop and fullmetal alchemist. I just miss it all. The world has gotten so much harder to deal with and I don't think we will see another time like the 2000s in our lifetime.
+1. I still have Cowboy bebop on dvd lol...if you haven't already, check out Black Butler...its like 2010's ish era, but awesome. your comment made me nostalgic. our biggest worry was Y2K , even though we knew nothing was gonna happen, it was fun to play prepper games lol.
Cowboy Bebop is only good in a depressing kinda way. I suppose Fullmetal Alchemist can be depressing but that's a great show. The first version to air.
Espcially for me... Huge Otaku, RPG, Hacking and Fetish scene in my area. PC gaming was also huge. I helped to organize so many LANs... Always remember my modded PSP which carried me through HS and my 1st Relationship. Kept it til my National Service ended in '11. 2day I wish I never gave it away. Looking back it seems like a fever dream...
I lost my mother in 2006. The last thing she ever bought me was Kingdom Hearts II on my birthday. To this day, even mentioning that title brings back a flood of emotion. So, yeah; I totally understand what you're saying here
@@joaopinto3655 thanks for your condolences. It was an emotional game which made it all that more difficult to get through. Later on that year, it took Gears of War to bring me back out into the social gaming scene
I feel you, that game for me is the mass effect trilogy. All 3 games I played for the first time in winter 2017 through early 2018. My parents died when I was young, and id been alone many years. I had started to see someone and just as I was feeling hope itd go somewhere nice, she told me hell no and stopped seeing me. Not the first time I've been rejected, just at this alone time of my life, despair hit me like a black brick. There are comforting moments in mass effect that calmed me and made me feel better. And it felt like the characters were really talking to me. Shepard could get through anything and im tearing up now of all the ways this series means to me.
I forgot about times like these but this brought back so many memories of when i got my first ds game at a local games store thats been gone for while now
@ I understand companies have to evolve to stay in business, but whomever made the call that a game store should sell less games should be fired haha. The DS had so many awesome games, what’s your favorite?
Father passed Oct. 12th 2023. He had a long battle with Parkinson's disease and Lewy body dementia 💔 Foundest gaming memory is him taken me to EB games in Scranton, Pa to pickup the N64 during a snow storm. You had a great dad, Tyler! Keep the memories alive with these awesome videos.
Man this is so nostalgic. A time when people still were good people in general and society wasn’t full blown narcissistic. Even the videoing of random family events took me back. So special.
What a treat to see Game Boy Advance stuff on the shelves for even a split second. Cheat code books, physical PC games, used peripherals and game guides. What an era!
Hey brother, I worked at GameStop from 1999 to 2005. I started in Irving Texas and eventually ended up in the Houston area. I was 21 years old too and this was the start of my first “real” job. I started as just part time shelf stocker and man, it was just fun being around video games and people that love gaming too. I eventually became an assistant manager, then a store manager. It was at one point the best job I’ve ever had, then it was the worst I had ever had. Worst due to the pressure they put on all the employees to upsell and meet certain sales goals. I will say though, being around for the PS2, Xbox, and GameCube launches were some of my best memories. I still feel this was the best time in gaming. So much innovation and creativity. Thanks for sharing your memories with us!
I was at Toys R US when those consoles launched. I still remember advertising in the newspaper that we would have PS2 consoles available on the next saturday and seeing the line of people all the way around the parking lot hoping to get one at 6AM. Sometimes we would get literally 200-500 consoles in that week to sell on that saturday and we sold them all in under an hour and probably thousands of games and controllers along with them. I was at Toys R US right at the transition from the ticket system and bringing it to the little window where the person behind there had a room full of games and consoles along with accessories. I was the one in that room for about 6 months before we redesigned the store to the actual department with the games in security cases on the floor instead of the tickets. The tickets were more secure but it was less personable and I think people preferred actual staff working the department vs the ticket system.
This is crazy. I grew up in Sugar Land and frequented the EB Games on hwy 6 and 59 very often. I absolutely recognized the younger you from your other videos and now I know why. I used to come by your store across from Target all the time when I was a kid and would talk with you and the other "cool older guys" about games and play on the kiosks or trade in old games. I'm so sorry to hear you were going through such a tough time but you would always make my day anytime I visited. This brought back crazy memories. Thanks
I was 20 when my dad passed away. I'm 22 now. He died of cancer at 81 years old. Him and I talked a couple of times about a video we could record interview style where I'd ask him questions and he would talk about his life. Sadly the video never happed and now I wish I could hear his voice again, see his facial expressions, his mannerisms. Its so awesome your dad recorded all those things❤ what a gem
I felt that hug of love around the 13 minute mark, and that brought tears to my eyes. My wife and I are expecting our first baby, and I truly can’t wait to become a father.
Congratulations my friend, wish your new born baby health and happiness in his life and to you and your whole family. I envy you because I too also long to be a father(hopefully some day soon) so please do enjoy every moment with your child(ren) and your family, do not let a single day go by uncherished sir.
In all these clips your family and all the people around you seem so pleasant and just good hearted people. Reminds me of my family growing up too, always makes me happy to watch your videos. Thank you for making them!
Got one of my big brother Bill from 1994. It's a video I made walking into my bedroom with my camcorder recording him playing my Sega Genesis. He said three words to me: What's up punk. The only voice and video recording I have of him. I made sure I backed that video up many times on multiple platforms. He died in a car accident in 1995 btw.
i have a voicemail from my grandma just before she passed, her and my mom raised me, dad was never around very much it was like losing my other mom, it hurts to this day and its been 3 years may 3rd 2021 one of the worst days of my life. its her saying (for context my names Wyatt) "Wymie you better pick up this phone its your Grandma and i aint heard from ye you call me back now you hear me" because i had been staying and basically babysitting my brother out of state who was recovering from a heroin addiction so i was making sure he didnt do anything stupid or relapse and had to go with him literally everywhere and talk him down when he'd try to get high. we had both moved back home from his place just a few days before she passed and it hurt because the last 4 or 5 years of her life i pretty much lived over there when i wasnt playing games she lived right next door and id just go watch tv with her in the mornings and evenings and we would talk about literally everything i was dealing with and she'd pick up snacks we liked and sodas and it was just wonderful and id do just about anything to have that back but she's gone and now everythings just different, i get in nostalgia kicks and play games that remind me of being a kid because i guess subconciously it makes me feel like all my family who have passed are still around, since around 2012 ive lost around 18 family members who were very close now its just my parents stepdad and mom and a few aunts and uncles and then my bio dad but we still dont talk very much, we are closer since ive gotten older but overall he's just too busy most the time and i dont wanna bother him
Please make sure you preserve and back up this tape. Even if its just you doing an audio recording with your phone, please. these things don't last forever ❤
I lost my dad in January of 2020. I still remember my dad taking me and my brother to buy COD 4 at the gamestop in the mall. We played that game over and over.❤
I worked at Target in late 2006. The PS3 and the Wii came out 2 days apart. Man, it was something else, and it was just days away from Black Friday, which was delightfully chaotic. It was a memorable time in a very different world. Less than a year later was the first iPhone.
I remember freshman year of high school right after Christmas the rich kids on the announcements bragging about getting both the PS3 and Wii plus tons of games while the lower and middle class had to wait months to get one
I miss my father every day and I can relate to how you feel and I genuinely mean this; I'm an upcoming game designer in college now at 34 and my father was the biggest inspiration I had growing up (mainly he is the one that showed me every single amazing SNES game including my favorite - Super Metroid) and he was always there telling me to go for my dreams and he has always know I always wanted to be in game design or at least be in the industry somehow. Thank you for all of the time and effort you put into your videos, and I can tell you got a lot of your father's talent with video and storytelling (broadcasting with video). You rock and never give your dreams either! I won't! My father passed 7 years ago this year and I will never let myself down or him down! I know you are making it and doing well! Keep it up, dude! Go for your goals! Thanks for everything that you do!
I was in 10th grade in 2006. Seeing Guitar hero definitely brings back memories, We would always go to a buddies house on the weekends and play that game. Good times.
It’s so amazing to get to know your dad through these videos. You can see that he had an effect on every person he met. Even when he was being goofy, it commanded a level of respect because there was no doubt that what he really wanted was for people to be happy. There’s no doubt, just from watching these videos that your dad was proud of everything you did, and I know he’s proud of you now for building this channel and sharing his love of gaming with the world
My dad got diagnosed with cancer in the same year and he passed away the year after. This all just hits so close to home for me in so many ways. Great stuff.
Thanks for watching the new video guys! My first job ever was working as a part-time sales associate at GameStop / EB Games during the takeover. This was around 2006. It was a dark time in my life, and in this video, I shed some light on the personal moments while working there. Hope you enjoyed it. Have any memories from this period at GameStop? Let me know in the comments.
Man, this was so refreshing. Dealing with the loss of my father in February, just wanted to say how much I enjoy your content being of similar age (I'm 41) and reminiscing about this time period. Thank you.
I was literally inside my local EB games at the Colony Mill in Keene, New Hampshire as a customer when the manager, Randy, got the news that Gamestop had acquired the chain and broke it to the other guys. I think that was 2005. Still remember that day clearly. Me and my friends used to go there quite a bit because they had Xbox, Gamecube & PS2 kiosks all lined up next to each other and they always had the latest games playing. They always used to talk about Gamestop like it was the evil empire up to that point. My main memory of Randy is the day I brought in my entire NES collection of about 150 games boxes and manuals into the store to try to sell to him and he begged me to take everything back home and keep it all because "one day this will be worth a lot of money than what he can give me".....one of the best things anybody ever did for me
I remember applying for funcoland in 2001, I didn't get the job, but had a friend that got it. He'd call me whenever someone traded a game in and I'd get all the deals basically through him.
I worked at EB Games in the late 90s. I actually enjoyed my time there as I had first dibs on trade-ins I wanted. Though tragic and a very tough time in your life, at least you have some of these memories preserved on video which most of us from back then - do not. Gaming got me through some really tough times. It wasn't until decades later when I realized how good I have it now that it hit me how really bad it was back then. The memories still bring me down from time to time though. We all have our crosses to bear.
Came expecting a "ugh retail sucks" video to relate to the pain of retail. Left with tears about a father. I missed the early 2000s. 2006 was one of the turning points of my life. I turned 13 and I studied at a boarding school. That's the first time it teaches me of life living away from your parents. I wouldn't go deeper into this, but I wanna say that 2006 felt like a universally life changing year to us
This proves time goes so fast. This does not feel like 18 years ago. One second you’re 16 and then all of a sudden you’re 34 in a blink of an eye. This video was a trip.
31 and dad was throwing same. Amazing content man. It took me back to the best times of my life. Now I have to make sure my son has the same upbringing.
My manager did the same. Was strange when the DM came in and they went in the backroom, then about 15 minutes or so later a cop came in. Not long after they left the store, the AM in handcuffs. Was a nice guy too. Don't ever think that trading in games in the store for cash, and then marking them as defective won't go unnoticed.
@@BLINDCABBY California. Guess he was "trading in" enough games that the cash he got back exceeded a certain threshold. Looking back on it reminds me of a scene from Arrested Development where one character would take a buck from the register and throw a banana in the trash, thinking this would cover it, not realizing that was doubling the loss.
Store footage of stuff like this is so incredibly important. It really shows everyone what these stores looked like when we were younger. You can just tell by your expressions and overall demeanor that you were going through something, too.
From one guy who lost his dad to another, your awesome dude. I've been watching your videos and they strangley help me get through a tough time in my life. Keep doing what your doing and being you, your awesome and your dad would be mad proud of your film making skills 💯.
I remember that. The "boutique" part always sounded out of place to me, so I was glad when they changed it to EB Games as it sounded more mature. When I hear the word "boutique", I immediately think women's stuff. It doesn't really have a good ring when your target audience is mostly male.
HOLY HECK this one HIT HOMEEEE I’ve lost family members due to cancer, it sucks I moved to Houston in 2005 Always been a gamer I miss EB Games I miss gaming in the 90s and early 2000s This video was amazing man I wish I had film of all my old games
I worked at GameStop around the same time! It was one of my first jobs, too. Watching this made me search up my first manager’s phone number and text him. I sent this video along to share. Now I work in the video game industry. I remember telling him and my girlfriend at the time I’d go to Full Sail and make games. Man, how time flies… 😅
I was 16 in 2006, I definitely remember this time frame. I remember getting the PlayStation 3. It’s crazy how quickly time flies. I lost my dad in 2007 from a tragic atv accident. Thank you sharing this video.
Here in Australia it’s still EB Games….i lost my father to cancer in 2017 and just seen a video of him yesterday so I know what you mean by hearing his voice again and bringing back memories 🙏🏽keep up the good work bro
I was born in 1999. The perfect year to enjoy so much of this. Im 24 now. It feels crazy. I miss the ps3 and xbox 360 eras. I have a huge collection of old gaming consoles. Ill never give any of them away. Its gonna be hard to tell my kids about the golden era of gaming. When i have kids. 😢
I lost my sister to cancer and the trauma stays with you. All I have now is memories of our childhood and happier times. I wished I had video memories like you...
2006 is the year my mom passed after a relatively quick bout of cancer. It looks like we’re roughly the same age, so this brought back a lot of memories. I’m happy for you that your dad did alot of recording, younger people might not realize that it wasn’t for a few more years that everybody was recording everything. Although the amount of recording that happens now still makes me uncomfortable, I do wish I had more of my mom. Thank you for the video and stoking the memories
Wow Tyler. This video really hit hard for a lot of different reasons. I love how your Dad recorded trips like this, and you kept them all these years!!! The preservation aspect alone I love, and the fact that you share them with us on TH-cam is an absolute treat!!! Thank you so much for doing your channel, and blessing us with your Dad's old home videos of you and your life growing up.
im 40 years old, im just like you. now i have video game days, where its a date but its a day, me and my girlfriend just play oldschool games even some new remakes, but i keep the feelings and memories alive. i never had a father who gave a fuck much, old war vet. but games were the happiest times of my life. super mario world on snes is still king. that was the best christmas i ever had at 8 years old in 1992. they gave me a box and i opened it but it had snes games and i cried because i didnt have one. and they said oh we thought you did. i said no you bought the wrong ones i only have nes. anyway they then acted like christmas presents were gone and it was time for supper. and then behind the tree was one box hidden. i opened it and there it was. super scope 6 and a snes..... best memories.
It’s truly weird back when we were kids growing up they literally had a video game about any and everything yet I still spent most of my time playing outside. Now these kids barely have any games to play and still don’t go outside and play.
I've noticed that your vids from you in the 90s and early 00s have a much happier tone than your mid 00s ones. Obviously because of what was going on in your life with your father but also you getting older and not being a kid anymore. But I'm glad you and your dad still had time to make more memories during that time. Thanks for sharing them, man.
I used to act just like that when my folks would drop by my workplace or my hangout spots. At the time you feel a bit embarrassed and don’t know what to do really. It’s only later when you look back that you feel the love and joy they had when visiting you and you finally cherish all those memories. God bless family
This one made me emotional. I lost my dad in 2006 and my mom in 2018. When you look back at things like this, while it may just be material things, those material things are tied to a memory or a bond that you had with someone you loved dearly. My relationship with my dad was not nearly as close as yours seemed to be with yours, but our thing was movies. More specifically, comedies. I always knew what kind of comedy film would get a good laugh out of my dad, and his laugh was incredibly infectious. He had, quite frankly, an obnoxiously loud and boisterous laugh that you would hear from the other end of a crowded movie theater. But I didn’t care because that laugh was full of life and joy. Unfortunately he wasn’t much of a videographer, so we only had very few videos. And honestly I think the few that we had got lost in a move a long time ago, so him and his voice mainly live in our memories. I don’t know how many more videos you can make out of the footage that you have, as obviously you gotta run out of footage sometime. But when you do run out of material, be thankful that you have all of that footage and were able to show the world how great he was. It’s really cool that you were able to find success with your memories. They might be just games, just a piece of plastic in the grand scheme of things, but with that piece of plastic some wonderful memories were able to happen. Cherish the video footage you got out of all of it, and you should feel proud of what you have done with it all. I know your dad would be, even though I never met him.
Man alive I lost it watching this… I feel the pain of your loss and reminds me of the only 2 father figures I had in my life both dying of cancer with 6 months of each other in 2003 😔
I still sometimes refuse to accept the fact, that it's no longer 2007-2009.. time went by too fast. Although 2005-2006 weren't too bright for me either, I would still like to go back to these simpler times and my youth. As always, great video! Thanks Tyler!
Your videos give me the chills man. They hit such a chord. My family doesn't have many videos form this time, so watching this really hits. The whole series is amazing.
I don’t know why, but this channel has become one of the best channels I’ve subscribed to. I’m always finding myself tearing up at the end of every upload. Very wholesome, nostalgic and sweet.
I worked at GameStop in 05/06 and it was my first job as well. It’s so funny hearing you push the Xbox Live points because I remember my manager telling me to make sure we sell those cards. It’s strange but I also have some bitter sweet memories from that time too, but mine came from moving away for college and not having any friends for that first year. It was somewhat lonely and so I played a lot of games that year, especially with my employee discount. Thank you for always sharing these videos and memories.
Hollywood video/Game Crazy was my go to spot in the 2000s for trade ins and new games. You could rent a game then buy it right next door if you like it. Fun times!!!
Who knew we had an EB games in the Uk? You learn something new everyday I only ever knew game, virgin mega store, HMV and game station back then I am from up north tho so maybe that's why I never saw an EB games
Santa Fe Texas here, so awesome to see these retro videos that were so close to me. Thank you for all the effort you put into posting these! I'm 43 now but I have a lot of these core memories with my old man too and I really need this see this stuff sometimes too unlock them. Thanks again
I feel this so hard. You and I are the same age and my dad was also a heavy influence in the start of my gaming passion. He was the one buying our family's games back in the day and knew about all the new stuff. He was diagnosed with liver cancer stage 4 this past June and died the same month. Thank you for making this video and for your channel as a whole. Lots of love man.
I long for the early 2000s. I had a great time. I'm sorry this period was so difficult for you and your family. I can't even imagine. The love you and your Dad had for each other seems so warm. Thank you for sharing!
I'm 47. I worked at a store called Compucentre between 1994 and 2002. It was a chain of 20-30 stores in Canada selling only video games, consoles and computer stuff. I have some pics of that. This time of my life created some of the best memories for me. This job was the most influential in my life. This is where I met some of the best guys I still call friends to this day. We were literally sitting on a treasure trove and we didn't knew it. My God, if I had scavenged all the game posters, signs, empty boxes, cardboard stands, consoles demo kiosks etc we trashed regularly back then... I still remember 2 brand new copies of Earthbound SNES (those big boxes), stuck on the top shelve near the roof and I wondered for something like a year and a half if we would ever sell them. MG... This is where I fell in love with the 3DO console, where I fell in love with so many excellent games. I feel you bro!
Thanks for sharing this footage with us Tyler. I also worked at GameStop during this period and this footage was very nostalgic for me seeing the GBA games and Guitar Heros out on display.
Hey Tyler, thank you always for your videos man. I unfortunately had a really rough childhood. Absent father, emotionally unavailable mother, bullied in school and at home, amongst many other things. I still play video games to this day, because they were my one thing that I could escape to. My girlfriend who was never a gamer before me, is now interested in games because of the stories I have attached to them. I’m almost 28 now, but I’ll never forget the feeling of being 13 and playing Halo 3 for the first time. It’s true that you look at old footage or certain images, and you’re instantly transported to a different time in your life. I’ve been a fan of the channel for a while now, but this is my first time commenting. Just wanted you to know you’re making a difference in people’s lives by being transparent about your life. I hope you make videos for many years to come. God bless brother.
My dad passed in December of 2016. My favorite games to play with him was mega man. Stopped playing em completely for quite a while after he passed. Was so bummed when mega man 11 came out knowing he would never play it.
I remember a time before EB Games. There was a store called Games n' Gadgets. And of course there was Babbages, Kay Bee Toys, Toys R' Us, Lionel Playworld, FuncoLand, K-Mart, Circuit City, & Game Force just to name a few back from the late eighties and early nineties... Thanks for the memories, Tyler!!!
Aw this was beautiful. Im glad you had such a good and affectionate realationship with your dad. Also cool how your mom joined in on it or at least she would be smiling because you enjoyed it.❤
Very special episode, thank you for sharing. I never got to keep my home videos, they were lost. This channel definitely fills that void. Much appreciated.
Somehow for us in the ages of almost 40 , that years range always become a sad day, my mom passed away in 2008 and my dad passed in 2010. Both are the one that encourage my gaming hobby since the 90s, missed them so much and thank you tyler for brought us into memory lane (It also made me remember that I was almost as handsome as you during that year... lol)
I miss the time before social media. Life was colorful and vibrant. You felt the need to go outside every day because of the possibilities of fun streaming by your endless imagination.
You're dad was awesome bro. Just lost my dad to cancer last year and i still have a vpid in my heart...i miss the old timer his knowledge his life advices.etc.... im from the surrounding area of sugar land..
I really miss EBgames. I first saw Mortal Kombat for SNES in a EBgames ad. I drooled over the screen shots for weeks. I got my first PlayStation on day one at EB along with the Dreamcast on 9-09-99. Good times
I was only 3 years old in 2006, but most of things I grew up with came from the 90s and from that time. My dad and my brother introduced me to all kinds of games. Seeing this footage is awesome, its so cool that your dad had the heinsight to record seemingly mundane footage from back then, its definitely charished now. I'm 21 and I already feel time going way too fast. Great video!
This video hits hard. My mom passed away in 2007 from cancer, and the last gift she got me for my birthday, two weeks before she died, was an Xbox 360 Elite. My fiance plays on it to this day, playing guitar hero. This was a bitter sweet look of that era. Thank you for this and I'm sorry for your loss.
Speaking of 2006 did you guys record making your miis and playing wii sports for the first time? Because wii sports is a really special game to me. It's hard to believe that it's gonna be 20 years old at the end of 2026.
I like how you became a wonderful story telling through video just like your dad was before you. I remember back in the early 2000's game stores were amazing and even those family owned movie stores. There were so many amazing things. Thank you for sharing this wholesome moments with us. Cool video. ^_^

its kind of sad and devastating at the same time that your dad was diagnose with cancer. well its life unfortunately you have to cope with it.😭😭😭😭😭😫💔
Sorry for your loss. I lost my mother 13 years ago so I can totally relate.
And I love what you said about liking back at yourself and wondering who that person was...
We change so so much over the years without even knowing it. ❤❤❤❤
Is that music clup from lumines or lumines remastered??
GRAXI
This one hit me. Im 29 and working at a thrift shop. My dad is 72 and comes by every so often to crack a joke or give me 10 bucks for lunch. I truly am blessed to still have him here with me.

This made me tear up. ❤ He is so sweet. My dad is the same way. I'm a couple years older than you and my dad is now 80. Enjoy your time with him. :)
I worked at GameStop during this time and had a surprise visit from my dad who was battling pancreatic cancer. He showed up on my motorcycle and wore my helmet while pretending to fill his jacket with random games off the shelves. I wish I had that memory on film too. I miss going over to friends house and learning new super bounce spots on Halo 2. I miss staying up late to watch cowboy bebop and fullmetal alchemist. I just miss it all. I had started to see someone and just as I was feeling hope itd go somewhere nice, she told me hell no and stopped seeing me.
I've probably bought games from you back then. I used to live fairly close to Irving
This is crazy. I grew up in Sugar Land and frequented the EB Games on hwy 6 and 59 very often. I absolutely recognized the younger you from your other videos and now I know why. My mom passed in 2000 and I have one tape of her and anytime I want to hear her voice I pop it in.
Got one of my big brother Bill from 1994. It's a video I made walking into my bedroom with my camcorder recording him playing my Sega Genesis. He said three words to me: What's up punk. The only voice and video recording I have of him. I made sure I backed that video up many times on multiple platforms. He died in a car accident in 1995 btw.
i have a voicemail from my grandma just before she passed, her and my mom raised me, dad was never around very much it was like losing my other mom, it hurts to this day and its been 3 years may 3rd 2021 one of the worst days of my life. its her saying (for context my names Wyatt)
"Wymie you better pick up this phone its your Grandma and i aint heard from ye you call me back now you hear me" because i had been staying and basically babysitting my brother out of state who was recovering from a heroin addiction so i was making sure he didnt do anything stupid or relapse and had to go with him literally everywhere and talk him down when he'd try to get high. we had both moved back home from his place just a few days before she passed and it hurt because the last 4 or 5 years of her life i pretty much lived over there when i wasnt playing games she lived right next door and id just go watch tv with her in the mornings and evenings and we would talk about literally everything i was dealing with and she'd pick up snacks we liked and sodas and it was just wonderful and id do just about anything to have that back but she's gone and now everythings just different, i get in nostalgia kicks and play games that remind me of being a kid because i guess subconciously it makes me feel like all my family who have passed are still around, since around 2012 ive lost around 18 family members who were very close now its just my parents stepdad and mom and a few aunts and uncles and then my bio dad but we still dont talk very much, we are closer since ive gotten older but overall he's just too busy most the time and i dont wanna bother him
Please make sure you preserve and back up this tape. Even if its just you doing an audio recording with your phone, please. these things don't last forever ❤

My manager did the same. Was strange when the DM came in and they went in the backroom, then about 15 minutes or so later a cop came in. Not long after they left the store, the AM in handcuffs.
It’s only later when you look back that you feel the love and joy they had when visiting you and you finally cherish all those memories.

I worked in an EB Games in the UK during the PS1's launch, they had just taken over a chain called Future Zone. They were clueless about games.
Who knew we had an EB games in the Uk? You learn something new everyday I only ever knew game, virgin mega store, HMV and game station back then I am from up north tho so maybe that's why I never saw an EB games
Too bad you don't have any videos of the PS1 launch. I'd love to see it.
You make great videos dude, I know it’s hard to make videos like this where you talk about this part of your life, thank you.
Santa Fe Texas here, so awesome to see these retro videos that were so close to me. Thank you for all the effort you put into posting these! I'm 43 now but I have a lot of these core memories with my old man too and I really need this see this stuff sometimes too unlock them. Thanks again
You had me at GameStop 06 bad time in my life. My father just passed from cancer so I relate heavy. I love your series thank you🙏
I feel this so hard.
Wow thank you for this heartfelt comment. I really appreciate it.
My dad passed in December of 2016. My favorite games to play with him was mega man. Stopped playing em completely for quite a while after he passed. Was so bummed when mega man 11 came out knowing he would never play it.
R.I.P to your pops, god bless him! For sure he's in heaven looking down on you rn.
Also cool how your mom joined in on it or at least she would be smiling because you enjoyed it.❤
Its crazy how much content your dad recorded back in the day and the fact you followed in his footsteps by creating content.
Perfect way to start my Saturday. Thank you for sharing your life with us.
You're dad was awesome bro. Just lost my dad to cancer last year and i still have a vpid in my heart...i miss the old timer his knowledge his life advices.etc.... im from the surrounding area of sugar land..
Dads a superhero for documenting so much
Seeing you all sitting around the TV gaming brought me so much nostalgia I teared up. Crazy how big a part of our lives gaming was.
There was something super depressing about the 2000's. The gaming was amazing but everything else was hella depressing
Sending nothing but love your way. Many blessings bro keep your head up.
2:12 video starts here
Doing god's work
Thank you! You saved me!
Aww I'm so glad you have that precious footage of your dad! Thank you for sharing! :)
It's always a good day when my retro life uploads
This video hits hard. My mom passed away in 2007 from cancer, and the last gift she got me for my birthday, two weeks before she died, was an Xbox 360 Elite. My fiance plays on it to this day, playing guitar hero.
This was a bitter sweet look of that era. Thank you for this and I'm sorry for your loss.
Im Really sorry about your loss Ang wishing you all the best
2005 I was 15 when she passed I was into mohaa, cod1/2 then GG cancer changed everything 😢
It's cool that your dad documented all that time with your family, I wanna be that kind of dad someday
Back when GameStop actually had games and more then one employee inside lol
Thank you for sharing this wonderful footage. Your dad will always live on through his recorded memories, and through your passion for video games.
Can relate had Mega Drive and mum passed away from cancer in young teens
Sorry for your loss man. Yes, you do relate. It's tragic but it's part of life and makes us who we are.
Your father seemed like such a nice man. The old GBA boxes make me so nostalgic.
13:39 you wasn’t just you’re dads son you were also his best friend
Makes me all emotional 😭 reading your post
@@PraveenSrJ01 I cried to
Your dad knew this would be priceless in the future what a great man
Speaking of 2006 did you guys record making your miis and playing wii sports for the first time? Because wii sports is a really special game to me. It's hard to believe that it's gonna be 20 years old at the end of 2026.
I like how you became a wonderful story telling through video just like your dad was before you. I remember back in the early 2000's game stores were amazing and even those family owned movie stores. There were so many amazing things. Thank you for sharing this wholesome moments with us. Cool video. ^_^
