- The 2008 Subaru WRX STi was the first year of the STI being offered only in a hatchback. Still under the hood was the 2.5L turbo flat-4 pumping out 305 HP. Find out why the hatchback is missed!

fuck the haters, the hatchback looks better period. Sti sedans have always been butt ugly, the hatch actually looks more aggressive and its more functional.

I definitely miss the hatch. But at the same time, I don't think Subaru could make another hatchback as nice as the originals :/

Just bought 2008 sti manual hatch blue with gold 18s and Recaro seats factory here in nz just had 7k rebuild on it payed 17 for it here in nz must be 10k US love the car its also JDM spec so 2l turbo

@@RaitisRides miss it a lot someone crashed into me bent some of the frame someone offered me a good deal on it and I had to let her go found my 08 last September needs some tlc interior is like a 9/10 exterior a 7 gonna swap the engine soon.

I had a 2014 STi hatch with under 60 000klms which blew its engine cruising. Completely stock. Engine change under warranty. Totally lost faith in the vehicle after that. Traded it on a Focus RS. Not necessarily better as it also went the traded route. Subaru needs to bring the Japan spec 2 litre STi engine and hatch back asap.

What happened with your STi hatch? Was it the head gaskets or the rods?

chris s I have a 2010 Sti Hatchback with 117k miles. I hope I won’t have that problem but it seems to be inevitable. But I love my hatch so much.its the best vehicleive ever had.
It can pretty much do anything you need

This is still my best styling of the Subaru Sti, the hatch and the sedan. An old neighbor had a white sedan and I liked the way the front and the back styling of it. Unfortunately, Subaru changed it up after only a couple of years. These are actually rare to find. The newer styling does absolutely nothing for me, being that Subaru went for a more "Camry" toned-down look. Tsk Tsk Subaru.

Back then in 08-09, WRX or STI sales were a very small percentage of Subarus overall revenue, compared to the rest of their lineup. Obamaconomy sucked but the number of hatches sold compared to when the sedans returned in the summer of 2010 were even less. So those that are crying for a hatch today were the very small percentage that originally purchased it (and probably sold it) or a bunch of kids that were too young to own a car then and now wants one now.

@@ChiSpire Oh sure. The bursting of the housing bubble played a big part of the recession in the early Obama years. You mad I put "Obama" in there or the fact that hatches still sold less.?

Such a classic look that Subaru let go 😐 I see dealers here in NY have a ton of red WRX’s on the lot but nobody wants them? Plus they are still asking way to much for them. 2018/19 STI’s and regular WRX pricing has got to come down around here. Base models 30k with little to no negotiations. 2020 should be the year to grab a deal for me once the new style hits floors. We shall see 👍
