When Demi-fiend is nearing half health, you can consider using Omagatoki skill Accursed Poison from a Demon with Avian race to Seal Demi-fiend 100%. With this he won't be able to use Mediarahan, saving time.
@@jackfavvv0280 I'm sure your here cuz of vengeance bring it to a ton of new people despite this being an original release video (there have been lots of balancing changes so while this video still helps with mechanics specific moves or strats might not be as optimal anymore)... if you are new WELCOME!! I am here myself since its been 2-3 years and god i need to refresh before diving in fully again xd But to explain one of the many specific mechanics on this fight, regarding his heal, he has 60k health, using it at half health (if you want to keep a calculator on hand just count your damage up to 30k to know when hes gunna use it), and if you are able to seal him when he tried to do it.... HE WILL NOT TRY AGAIN. He gets one attempt and thats it. There are conflicting reports that charm and sleep / confusion may or may not work. Some say it still takes his use of it, some say he uses it when waking up. So seal is the only TRUE way to skip the full heal. Cuts the fight down by 1/3rd and depending on your team is completely necessary to win without the fight lasting 30 mins.
I was just getting killed by this boss and, out loud, asked how to beat it, and then I see ‘Demi-fiend strategy’ on my subscriptions page. Thank you very much I hope to finally beat DF soon Edit: spelling
I finally did it today ! Thank you a lot, your guide truly helped. I managed to do it in normal difficulty without udeen and cleopatra, and without the bird poison magatsuhi or adversity. I am really proud of myself. Plus my nahobino is a magic/agility/vitality one and this is my 1st cycle. I managed to do it with shiva, marie and odin only and this is thanks to you and your guide on fusion. So thank you !
As far as straightforward tactics this is a very good run, and the commentary does add a nice bit of context. I don't necessarily agree on you're aversion to "cheese" tactics as they are what really pushes the envelope for these sorts of things. One example being the 6 minute or so run done by i think a chinese player using the beast magatsushi skill with endure to do safety difficulty levels of damage to demi on hard. Compared to that using phys repel switches just seems fair lol. Then again I'm using a luck build ailment MC so I suppose I just really like it when people break out of the mold and try things wierdly, it can be refreshing as heck to see things you never thought would even function turn into sheer ridiculous tactics!
Damn I am late to the party but finally beat Demi-Fiend on Hard Mode. Had to Switch from a Figment Slash build to Murakumo of course with Revival Chant. MVP was Zhuque and his Accursed Poison Magatsuhi(tip from bainz’s channel, guaranteed to Seal Demi-Fiend and stops his Full Heal to party.) Was able to cut his health down by 30k and then it was just about playing smart/staying alive and consistently putting damage. I pulled off no Abysmal Mask on Casual/Normal but they’re indeed a must on Hard. Even if you get him close to death that Chaotic Will always prematurely ends the attempt. That and those Figment Slash misses, just too much RNG on hard mode.
This video helped me defeat the demi-fiend just a few minutes ago. I had to do a lot more demon switching than you did, but I made it through in the end.
my strat was to just have 12 strong attackers, with specializations in each element to be able to nuke any add easily, tao, and a couple support demons. i made so many damn abdiels to give them all repel phys. i didnt do anything too crazy with the stat stacking, my highest stats were in the 120s-130s
imo you can't even really cheese the fight with drain/repel phys. First issue, he doesn't always attack into the resistance. But the real problem with that strategy is that you still have to meet the dps checks constantly or you get gaea raged. and you arent going to meet the dps checks if youre just swapping in random drain phys demons. Say you are on decent tempo to kill a demon before gaea rage, then you swap in a drain phys user. Sometimes, demi fiend will ignore them, use chaotic will, and you are suddenly in a situation where you might have to scramble to avoid a gaea rage. And also, if you get stuck with 4 phys immunities on the field that demifiend knows about, he and his demons will spam almighty attacks. So while it helps a LOT to have 15+ drain/repel phys users, it really doesnt break the fight or anything, it just gives you a bunch of insane potential tempo swings that you have in your back pocket. He doesn't always attack into the resistance. You have to have the ability to keep up offensive pressure constantly, even through chaotic will, so you can't afford to be swapping in mediocre demons even if they drain phys, unless you have demons with their stats in the 150+ stat range so you can afford to have a dud demon out cause the rest of your party does so much damage. Imo it's actually more crucial to have strong demons that RESIST instead of null phys that can stick on the field and be useful like shiva. Spamming drain phys only works if you have a core with boosted stats from consumables, or if you literally have a full squad of powerful demons, with multiple attackers that can nuke down each of his demons. multiple strong dedicated fire, force, elec, and force attackers. you can't just roll up with a squad of 24 mediocre demons with drain phys and expect to win unless your nahobino has eaten like 100 balms
I was fighting him for 45 minutes to an hour and almost killed him when he did Chaotic Will and wiped out the MC (I’d already used Enduring Soul and whittled goat).
The other guy is just as good. He actually has used two strats. 1. Repel physical 2. No repel physical Choose whichever that makes you sleep at night comfortably.
Just beat Demi-fiend, no cheese, on Casual, first paythrough! So excited. Thanks for the help. For Casual Mode that felt more like IMPOSSIBLE. My setup: 1. Amazing, not only was it sub 30, it was done with 4 to 6 demons! could you make a guide on the preparation process to get the stats and skills you have? I think it would be dope!
Damn, even now I still can't bring myself to fight Demi-fiend I get PTSD from DDS. This man literally makes me switch off my game every time I see him in the hall of chaos. Scary...
I'm pretty sure the AI changed with the Vengeance update. He won't always prioritize members who you switch in and his demons spam Megidolaon all day regardless of your resistances if you don't force them to use support skills by spamming (de)buffs.
Solid guide dude nice! Im gonna try it myself Question tho, what would you think is a good replacement for Cleopatra if one doesn't buy her dlc? (because im no simp)
Really nice strat! I attempted to beat Demi-Fiend today as well but got annihilated pretty quickly. I didn't realize that Idun is such a useful and powerful demon, I'm definitely going to fuse her and try that fight again! Are there any other recommendations for demons to use? I really would like to fight him during my first playthrough, so I can't use demons like Nuwa and I don't have access to the Dlc demons.
what's the best way to farm incenses? cause I saw your Idunn had an insane magic stat. that's the biggest thing I've struggled with in the post game. either way amazing job and theorycrafting for this boss fight, funny how this boss seemed near impossible and extremely difficult on launch to what we know now
hua po collectable farming has the highest chance of balms and incense and you can get more in NG+ if you really want to. I'm not sure what thoughts were at launch, I kinda just made my own strat based on my attempts yesterday and molded overtime til I found something that worked for me and didn't use the popular cheese strategy.
I really needed this video, I was wondering how to deal with the demi fiend because normally I see people beating him with a phys build and my 1st cycle has a magic build with 112 magic points, and because of that I didn't know if I should do new game + and make a phys build, and also that would give me the chance to get Repel/Drain phys, and fighting the fiends more fairly, in any case, I would try something with magic and if it works better I would beat him with that. Anyways, great video! And thank you so much for this one!
This is amazing, you are so good at this game man! Question, i have a super buffed Tao with lots of stat boosters and that, and IMO her personal skill is better than Idun's (Same as Idun but she adds a Dekunda effect, meaning when she uses it the party would always go +1 or +2 if already buffed) I was wondering if she can do the same role as your Idun. The main differences would be that she has +9 on Light skills and not on Wind. Im not sure if it is better to have good affinities on other elemental skills. I can do a good Idun like yours no problem, but sometimes in the fight i did wonder if Tao's unique would be better, specially when you are debuffed.
Yes it would work, the problem with Tao is that you can't give her fusion stat bonuses and she also resets each cycle so you lose all your investment. But if you have a servicable tao for the fight it can work, just not sure light hits any weaknesses in this fight which could be big.
@@EnelXC Thanks! Yeah i learned about Tao the hard way, but im on my "final" save and she is pretty much stacked with booster and all that. Light hits the elephant im sure but thats it i think. I mean i can give her a wind skill, but im not sure if it is worth it without the +9 affinity cause MP cost and damage. Anyway, thanks a lot! I gave all my demons repel/abs phys and now i see thats not really worth it. One more thing btw, in the description you said could do it much faster if you grind out. What would be the changes or demons you would do if you are willing to grind (Im willing so gonna try and see)
Finally got around to beating SMTIII HD, made me want to try SMTV Demi-Fiend on Normal and after 20 tries and almost giving up I finally barely beat him lol. Such a hard but fun fight. This time I actually made him do his Lux/Deb/Almighty Spam because I was tired of dealing with his pain in the ass Ailments. Was able to down him with my same Figment Slash + Shiva Dub Piece Magatsuhi Strat, only this time I made a Siegfried Figment slash build. Siegfried is so cool/badass. Straight up absorbs Physical and you only really need Resist Force & Dark. Never thought I’d beat Demi-Fiend on Normal. Tried him on Hard before switching to Normal and got annihilated. Definitely not ready. Will take at least 1, if not 3+ more playthroughs of boosting stats to beat him for me on Hard. Almost didn’t beat him on Normal, hit me with the Friekugal Crit, luckily my MC had 999 health to tank it. That damn Figment Slashes are so annoying when they miss, but made it work.
Did I miss something? Is there any endgame in smt5? There is shiva as the one and only basegame "super" boss and demi behind dlc paywall. But what do you do with your powered up demons after beating the game? What is the point of collecting and fusing if there is no use for them? I guess there will be a royal/definitive/super ultra arcade edition coming, since they did cut some content. DLC was also in game and they did cut/locked it behind season pass. I guess we will get the one demon joining and leaving, permanently and propably in an playable second form, as well as the monk guy. All of this for full price, again.
Quick question did you do new game plus before fighting Demi- fiend? he is being kicking my ass pretty bad 😅 I haven't done new game plus and I also fuck up the stats for my nahobino he has like 98 strength and 100 of magic 😅😅, I didn,t consider using abyssal mask and critical zealot or using Shiva at all 😅 Im gonna try that out, also my demons don't have as much magic I kinda use the magic incenses pretty early in the game that was such a stupid mistake 😅😅, but since its my first playthrough I suppose I was bound to make mistakes 😅, also him healing himself when ever his hp is about 1/2 is kinda annoying it took me like 30 min just to lower his hp halfway 😅😅
@@EnelXC ohh okay no worries 😅 I haven't beat him yet, but im trying several things hopefully I get the win 😅 I never expected Demi Fiend to be this tough not even Lady Lavenza gave me this much trouble in P5 R 😅😅
Enel unfortunately it’s not in the shop! Does the shop change in NG+? I have 12 to work with, used 7 and I got him down to 20% health left. So I think it’s possible with the 12. Thanks for the guide man. So helpful. This shits hard.
Thank you for the guide How do i get that insane near 200 stats? It feels like you grinded for a lot of incences, or fused 2 99 materials (and i am way too lazy to do that oof) Any guides to that?
your demons in your stock will only give their essence to you once. If you need more of the same essence for example Jackfrost, you need to get a newly recruited or fused Jackfrost or summon him from the compendium.
Gonna be honest I have no idea since I went phys route, magic naho I'd imagine would focus more on the adds and you can use something like fionn or odin to carry damage against the fiend but it may be slower.
As somebody currently trying to deal with demi-fiend as a magic user: It is noticeably more difficult. Murakumo is fucking incredible because it's consistent good damage on demi-fiend and every single demon in this team does something the Nahobino can't replicate. I'm doing a similar strat to this but much less good where I replicate the Murakumo with a Freikugel Asura and use Nahobino as a general support in place of Idun - rework him to be as close to Idun as you can (luster candy + mediarama/mediarahan, switch out the null elec for either just by having better affinities) and I think you'll have the most success. Unfortunately trying to just do Murakumo build but with Megidolaon is the literal worst because you get less damage and less press turns for like 3x the MP cost, so replacing somebody else is your best bet.
Addendum to this: Enel's first attack with Murakumo did 2800 My first attack with Freikugel did 3000..... WHILE CHARGED. similar boosts - tandava from shiva, a golden apple, oma critical, but i used a critical gem before i attacked. While there is a noticeable difference in the strength stat (for obvious reasons), Freikugel also just doesn't get Murakumo's special lil buff. Yeah, phys build is the way to go.
You mean the incense items to boost stats? They are found through those it's just weird how often they drop. I've found a solid ampunt of incense and sutras with Alice, Pixie, Pyro Jack, Amanozako, and Muu Shuwuu but I can't guarantee you'll find any. The next best thing would be to just dedicate an entire play session or most of it to just grinding incense and sutras
@@ghoulishgoober3122 Thanks man, but I already managed to defeat him lol, I went in faith without even increasing my status much and it still worked lol

What would be the changes or demons you would do if you are willing to grind (Im willing so gonna try and see)
@@Alexj96 just making sure i get the phase skip or abusing the constant swapping phys repel strat to cheese turns and significant extra damage.
Dude
Your a life saver
Awesome job! But just remember, you are most known for having WRs on Super Monkey Ball.
I noticed you had Nuwa so did ya do the Reborn option to grind your MC to those stats or just search with a nav 🤔????
well this is second playthrough so I did get some extra balms that way but nav search also works
Have you done any new game plus cycles or is this first playthrough to get those stats on nahabino?
Mmmm can I put drain phys instead repel? I try to obtain it from fallen Abdiel but she doesn't drop it...
Yeah drain works
Did I miss something? Is there any endgame in smt5? There is shiva as the one and only basegame "super" boss and demi behind dlc paywall. But what do you do with your powered up demons after beating the game? What is the point of collecting and fusing if there is no use for them? I guess there will be a royal/definitive/super ultra arcade edition coming, since they did cut some content. DLC was also in game and they did cut/locked it behind season pass. I guess we will get the one demon joining and leaving, permanently and propably in an playable second form, as well as the monk guy. All of this for full price, again.
Kinda sad this fight isn't DDS levels of bad with repel phys being possible. Cool fight at least.
Best strategy is nothing wrong with being a whimp like me and putting it on safety mode
Your the first person I have seen that has ever done this....
I can't remember if I didn't do it at all or did it one time.
@@EnelXC ohh okay no worries 😅 I haven't beat him yet, but im trying several things hopefully I get the win 😅 I never expected Demi Fiend to be this tough not even Lady Lavenza gave me this much trouble in P5 R 😅😅
Where did you farm for critical auras? I’m considering freeing up a skill slot for MC
No idea can you not buy it from the shop? I prob just stockpiled.
Enel unfortunately it’s not in the shop! Does the shop change in NG+? I have 12 to work with, used 7 and I got him down to 20% health left. So I think it’s possible with the 12. Thanks for the guide man. So helpful. This shits hard.
Why don't you play a real shin megoomy tensay game like nocturne or strange journey
or even 2. 2 is definitely a real SMT game
Or even nine
play a real smt game like jack bros
Is this a meme? I don’t get it.
@@Dharengo yes. it comes from a persona review where they called the game hard
Doing this battle with a magic build is hell
I'm gonna try this one on my own but I'll come back if I fail.
Hey enel i must ask this. Why you use golden apple to heal instead of a mediarahan or some other thing? Isn't best to buff with just luster candy?
golden apple is luster candy plus a heal. Why would it be better to have two moves do what one move can do alone
@@EnelXC what is the cost of mediarahan in smt 5?
is it possible to use a magic build on nahobino here?
I really do not know since I went physical route.
Thank you for the guide
How do i get that insane near 200 stats? It feels like you grinded for a lot of incences, or fused 2 99 materials (and i am way too lazy to do that oof)
Any guides to that?
I have a fusion guide but yeah incense also helps a lot for demons that need it.
I refuse to buy any DLC that isn't demi fiend so what can we use instead of cleo?
nuwa prob best bet for high magic and great unique
what is the best way to get the essences needed? just fuse them and level up?
Most likely
your demons in your stock will only give their essence to you once. If you need more of the same essence for example Jackfrost, you need to get a newly recruited or fused Jackfrost or summon him from the compendium.
@@shinyanakagawa8241 thanks! i had to get my Ongyo-Ki from the compendium a couple of times because he was lvl 94 after fusion
what the stats on demi-fiend's essence ? and what are the key items you got ?
demi's essence gives perfect nulls to everything
How would you set up a magic nahobino to do this? Murakumo just seems so OP, that you can't really do much else
Addendum to this:
Enel's first attack with Murakumo did 2800
My first attack with Freikugel did 3000.....
What is the Fiendish Sash that you get from defeating DF? I can’t find any information about it online.
Nothing that important. Don't remember it doing anything
I just finished my first play through but I'm curious on how you got everyone to 99 with such beefy stats? Did you use the mitama dlc?
mitama dlc doesn't beef up stats, this is just from fusion bonuses and incense/balms. Also I didn't even have the dlc my first playthrough.
@@EnelXC do you know a way to farm balms/ incenses?
Is there any way to find the easiest incense sticks? I CAN'T FIND ANY GUYS THROUGH THE ITEMS THAT HUA CAN FIND
23:38 There's a recolor of Cu called "Tam Lin" in some of the other games. I assume you're calling him "Tam" because of that, otherwise I have no clue.
Yeah that's why
On my last attempt after getting demi fiend to half health he healed himself again . Is there any way to prevent this?
how did you up Idun's Stats like that ? :O that's insane
lot of incense favoritism LOL
Enel, I invite you to try the Elizabeth boss in Persona 3. This boss is a piece of cake relative to her.
I will definitely watch that video if you decide to make it!
should try it without Orpheus Telos
@@zaqareemalcolm I remember attempting to defeat her long ago without Orpheus Telos, and that was brutal.
I love that you have to use a calculator to defeat her xD

incense + big demon fusions

Is there a way to farm up the incenses?
either searching item spots with hua po or doing NG+ to get more that way.
@@EnelXC ok thanks
Tao>Idun. Her unique skill buffs past any debuffs.
You can't give tao any fusion bonuses so she ends up much weaker still
There's that and she leaves your party sooner or later.
Are you dump all your stats points into STR?
What was your build for Idun I want a good build
I believe I show build in the video
Is there a Cleo cheese where you abuse Frolic in this fight?
not cheese per se, but frolic is just really good for this fight in general. Makes this fight manageable on hard without repel phys
Frolic is good but they always spam dekaja and dekunda making it a bit less useful here
@@EnelXC frolic causes charm while simultaneously double debuffing both attack and defense while costing less than half of a debilitate. Easily the best debuffing spell that can be used here
Nice
I feel like we all should have listened to Trumpeter when he basically told us “yeah Demi-fiend built different” 😂😂 The jump from him to demi-fiend is like fighting Gohan then Gogeta blue right after.
How did you set it up for Shiva
I have another video for shiva, it's really similar to this one.
i don't think it's possible to beat this fight without cheesing it. you had stats in the 170s lmao
which is a good thing by the way. the boss forces the player to optimize their party more than any other boss in a megaten game, it's insane
