A strategy I used for the Shiva fight was using the Magutsuhi Skill Accursed Poison. It is a skill exclusive to the Avian race, that debiltates all enemies, and guarantees status ailments, even on Bosses who null them. More often then not, it sealed all enemy skills, and made it so no enemy could use turns several times.
Idun is definitely the developer wife character, but that's okay because I'm pretty sure everyone loves her anyways. My favorite thing about this game is how you can just bring whatever demons you like to the end of the game thanks to grimoires and essence fusion.
Critical zealot/crit charge MC with both almighty boosts, abyssal mask, enduring soul, and null/repel phys for is the true super boss killer build. It works for Shiva and for Demifiend. Charge is sadly not as good as it used to be and Domni Gladi is dogwater. Gladi is only about a 1.4/1.5 boost to damage and charge is only 1.8 now instead of 2.2x. Which makes crit zelot the better damage option with crit charge
Whose dumb idea was it to nerf Charge? I get Gladi and the other one having reduced power since it's targetable, but lowering Charge below 2.5x kinda defeats the point of Charging outside of MP conservation I guess.
Do you happen to know the damage for impaler's animus? I know that the main appeal is the pierce effect but I still would like to know the damage boost it gives.
Idun really is great for boss plans. My trick was to keep one of the enemies alive. Which seemed to control how often he used his aoe against me. So less turns trying to clear that debuff.
Just beat him! I did it at level 86 with almighty str mc, Idun, cleopatra and Gabriel. From what I can tell, only the snake can heal - always kill the snake. I ignored all other summons the majority of the time. To do it at a lowish level, you need a herald to cast God's shield anytime he uses impaler animus or begins gathering magatsushi - sometimes your own magatsushi won't be ready then you just have to damage control and recover.
I've done this fight like 8 times already. I've come very close to 1/3rd of his health left. From my strategy I have Garuda to use Accursed Poison to cast Seal so he is unable to use his skills. I could easily take out Ananta but it takes away from me trying to damage Shiva because he constantly summons him back every turn. I need to get more Incense and Balms to gain more stats if I want to deal more damage and hopefully finally finish him off

@@IamJerf my MC is totally specd into strength, it's >150. As far as skills go at the time off the top of my head it was Murakumo, charge (not impalers animus since as far as I know only mitamas actually resist almighty), bloody and murderous glee stacked, high almighty and almighty pleromas stacked, enduring soul, and then null dark to cover my weakness. Gabriel was my main damage dealer to Shiva actually, had the severe ice skill and both ice pleromas stacked, can't remember the other skills but they were all passives, didn't even have impalers animus or concentrate since it was exclusively going for Shivas weakness and I didn't want to waste turns powering up. Also used god's shield when I thought Shivas almighty skills were otw. Even though beelzebub knew ice age and death flies anytime I needed it to do damage I used gems since he was mainly casting debilitate and his support affinity was only 2 so it took up a ton of MP, and my strat involved only targeting Shiva and Ananta so I didn't use multi target attacks. Lakshmi was the heals/support with mediarahan, dekunda to deal with the defense drop from Shivas almighty skill, and luster candy for buffs. She also had debilitate but like I said I used beelzebub for this more often to cast both luster candy and debilitate in a single turn when I could. I would usually have Beelzebub use a dark gem on Ananta and then the MC attack since it was my main priority to kill Ananta to prevent heals though as far as I know you always have 2 turns to do this since Ananta will always buff once before before healing. It's worth noting since I posted my comment I've fought Shiva 3 more times on hard with a different strategy thats worked better imo but it involves post game and dlc characters. Also what you asked about imaplers animus and critical aura, my reasoning is like this: critical aura is good for the physical skills with low accuracy since it guarantees 100% accuracy on top of the critical but other than those low accuracy physical moves I'd use impalers animus since it charges and adds pierce for both magic and physical (I only even realized it worked with magic because of Shiva lol). It has more utility imo. Even with skills that do more damage when critical hitting I think you are better off with impalers animus and bloody/murderous glee (stacked if possible) for when you do actually critical. I do have a couple late game demons with physical builds that do use critical aura and critical zealot since their main damage move is figment slash, but the majority of my damage dealers phys or magic use impalers animus. Most of them focus on a single element with a severe multi-target, both pleromas stacked, and impalers animus. That way I don't have to worry about some enemy in a group nullifying or draining/reflecting, and it does 1.8x damage I think.
@@itsaboy213 thanks for the reminder about Ananta's Dark weakness. I've been mostly using Wind and Almighty damage against it lol. I feel bad that I put all of my focus on Magic in the MC stats. Mind you this isnt my first SMT game and I've mostly done Physical build so I wanted to do something differently. Then I see Murakumo and felt really bad about my decision lol. Quick question, which Demon has High Almighty Pleroma? I want to assume Metatron but I haven't fought him yet cuz I wanna beat Shiva first. I didn't buy the DLCs either cuz I wanted to go through this without something like Cleopatra and Artemis. I'll maybe switch out Anahita for Gabriel to see how it fairs out but I think maybe I might need to fix the skills it has. I just find using Accursed Poison more useful because it stops Shiva from doing anything but the only downside is that there are times where he cures too early and would either use Almighty skills or go for Impaler's Animus for piercing before I have my Magatsuhi gauge at max. All of my high level Demons aren't at lv99, most of them are at 95 and I'm at 96 so I feel that maybe I should grind more to get them all maxed out and possibly more Incense and Balms to boost more stats to increase damage
@@IamJerf I looked it up and I must have been mistaken about stacking the almighty pleromas pre Shiva win because you can only get them from Metatron and Shiva. Imma actually check my save file (I still have one right before winning this fight the first time on hard) and then edit this with the exact skill set. Edit: okay so my actual build at this point was Murakumo, Energy Drain, Charge, Murderous Glee and Bloody Glee stacked, Almighty Pleroma, Null Dark and Null Phys. I think I ditched Energy Drain for Enduring Soul but didn't save before going into the boss. Yea the the dlc demon I referenced was definitely cleopatra. The severe ice multi target with impalers animus plus dekunda, debiliate, and luster candy gives more opportunities for buffs/debuffs with the same Lakshmi setup as a dedicated healer/support hybrid. I assume Mephisto would also be great to take out Ananta as he has a unique severe dark attack and a unique multi target ailment move that lowers defense also. Both his dark and ailment affinity is already at 9 and he has impalers animus. I might try him out for this fight in the future, surprised I haven't already tbh. I actually used a post game dark specialist I won't spoil just in case you haven't seen it yet. I actually used to do magic builds in Smt4 so I wanted to do something different in this game. At the beginning I still transferred the basic elemental magic to MC just for press turns and coverage until some of the better physical moves from Aogami essences were acquired. It seems most people do agree at this point that physical is the way to go especially late-game. I do think its worth putting some glory you can spare into dark magic for the nahobino skill and the demi-fiend skill you unlock from his essence.
@@itsaboy213 so HUGE update. I finally beat him!!! I leveled up my main teams and backups to 99, except Garuda. I also switched up MC and Odin's skill, gave MC Bloody Glee and took out Ruinous Thunder, Odin I replaced High Elec Pleroma and Charge with High Phys Pleroma and Critical Aura. I still lead with the same strategy, MC, Garuda, Idun, and Gabriel and start off using Accursed Poison to cast Seal on Shiva, then switch out Garuda for either Rangda or Odin. Gabriel really helped with Ice damage and Me Patra to heal stat ailments, once she ran out of MP, I switched her with Anahita. The annoying part obviously was getting rid of Ananta but because of the seal on Shiva it became a lot more easier for him to not summon him when he keeps going for attacks instead while under the seal. Before he was getting to the red bar he broke free from the seal and used Megidolaon and Maragibarion to almost kill all my team but luckily MC and Odin survived when I had over max HP and stat buffs from Idun (Idun and Anahita died sadly). I used the time to summon Garuda for the Accursed Poison once more and switched him back for Tao and then MC to use Revival Chant to bring back Idun. I switched Tao for Ishtar next turn then managed to get him to the red bar without worry. Once I got to the red bar, I had Impaler's Animus ready with max Magatsuhi to go and risk it all using Omagatoki: Critical and it actually was enough for everyone to deal damage to Shiva and for Odin to finish him off. The expression on my face was priceless cuz I earned this win especially on hard mode, and now I can proceed to the story and fight Metatron since I was already at the end of the Temple of Eternity.
How were you able to deal that amount of damage to him? I'm also on hard mode but the highest I've done was near 3000 damage. Did you focus alot on Strength stats?
Nice strat tho , for this fight i used sandalphmon and metatron for almighty dmg using sageki or sum like that almighty phys dmg severe and +9 on that stat using the almighty amps both of ems and one for buffs and de buffa plus heal it was easy
My question is, how do you even withstand Tandava? I can deal with the debuff, but I'm not even on hard mode and every time he does that move he nearly destroys my entire party except for the MC (who ends up with a bit less than half HP anyways).
I had the same problem too. What I’m about to try is upgrading the health of my main demons that I want to use with great life spring. For me, he starts out doing 300-500 damage and with low defense about 600. So I’ve gotten my party to at least 700 health.
Thank you all for your responses! I only got like 3 sutras and have already used them without knowing what they really do, so I completely forgot that they existed. I guess its time for me to farm some and finally beat Shiva.
Could anyone tell me if using Tao instead of Idun will work? I don’t have an Idun and it would take a lot of farming of grimiores to get her to lvl 93. (I don’t have grinding DLC).
Tao's problem is that you cannot fuse her to get bonus stats and that she also resets every playthrough back to level 60. If you don't care about NG+ then by all means invest in her because yes she'd be a great replacement but just be careful.

Demon is a blanket statement in SMT and doesn't mean everything is a literal demon. There are plenty of gods and goddesses, angels, and even interpretations of the monotheistic God. Many of these beings are portrayed very positively within the game.
SMT takes influence from many mythologies, religions, cultures etc. It also has interpretations of Angels, Demons, God's etc. from Angelology & Demonology. It's moreso a celebration of cultures, religions, myths, legends etc etc. It's really neat to see Creatures, Angels, Demons, God's, Goddesses, Monsters, & Deities from all types of real life tales, fables, and stories of old. There's definitely no disrespect meant with anything that appears in the game and portrays most things with a layer of respect & love for the culture it is representing.

Crit zealot double pleroma
Literally the only boss I had to TH-cam
Hey man I would really like to know how you were able to level up Idun and Yoshitsune to such a high level
Use grimoires
Grimoires are really the only way but the game gives them out like candy.
Nice strat tho , for this fight i used sandalphmon and metatron for almighty dmg using sageki or sum like that almighty phys dmg severe and +9 on that stat using the almighty amps both of ems and one for buffs and de buffa plus heal it was easy
Are you gonna give demi-fiend a go? Interested to see how you go about it.
I will have a video on him tomorrow...interesting fight to say the least.
So I’ve gotten my party to at least 700 health.
yeah just having enough health and vitality then a good healing move after should work.
Wouldn’t that one demon nobody mentions by name make more sense for this fight specifically?
That’s extremely vague
@@austins.2495 There's only one demon that matches the description tho.
@@Dharengo Lord Voldemort?
@@austins.2495 No,
life is short don't have time for this
Do you have like, the demon stats and passive abilities you are using?
Didn’t even use black frost smh
SMT noob here. How do you get Yoshitsune with Hassou obi +9? Mine is only +5 so I guess that is not enough for this boss.
There are items you have been picking up that can increase your demons ranks on things. Only if they have a rank already though.
Battle Sutras increase a demon's phys affinity by 1 each.
Battle sutras
Thank you all for your responses! I only got like 3 sutras and have already used them without knowing what they really do, so I completely forgot that they existed. I guess its time for me to farm some and finally beat Shiva.
Where is my Bhakt Friends?
Could anyone tell me if using Tao instead of Idun will work? I don’t have an Idun and it would take a lot of farming of grimiores to get her to lvl 93. (I don’t have grinding DLC).
Tao's problem is that you cannot fuse her to get bonus stats and that she also resets every playthrough back to level 60. If you don't care about NG+ then by all means invest in her because yes she'd be a great replacement but just be careful.
@@EnelXC Thanks for the advice and the video. Just beat Shiva about half an hour ago, although I probably will still level up Idun for the Demi-fiend fight. I’ll probably go get the macca and exp dlc for that fight.
I wasn't expecting to see you here. Welp
Just got Idun and I'm really excited to use her! I'm curious to know how it only costs 107 mp to use Golden Apple though
By using Sutras to raise her healing affinity to +5
Maxing out her Healing affinity lowers the cost of the MP.
Give her luster candy as well
@@BitchChill how do o get debilitate
@@newcar4141 From arahabaki's essence
Cleo and Vishnu on support with Idun as backup
Gabriel's omagatoki whenever they about to crit
Murder ananta with crit whenever he shows up
so did you level yoshitsune and inun with grimoiraes or what?
Yes
Wow... how are you doing that 7000ish hits with Murakumo?
I did about half of that with Crit, max Str buff on me and max Def debuff on Shiva... and my Nahobino got a Str stat of 145 AND of course allmight giga pleroma...
On top... I did this fight on normal. Don't know if you are doing less damage on hard but I could imagine that since enemies are doing more damage too in contrary...
*edit
Ok... Charge Gem... missed that. Never mind.
Are you buffing with charge?
@@EnelXC See my edit ;)
Nope didn't do that.
Why every demon consume lesser MP as usual? How you do that?
Increasing your skill potential decreases the MP cost of skills.
skill potential decreases MP cost
How do you get debilitate
Later demons have it.
Is Idun Enel's new waifu?
Sure looks like, huh.
Idunn reminds me a lot of Poppi, being very cute and dancing during her idle animation
maybe for this series LOL
healing for 24k,still cant beat him :(
make sure to kill the snake instantly
I used ices move on all my party
How did you get to level 93 on everyone for the fight?
like 12 gospels i had hoarded the entire game lol
how can your demons use items??? 😭
It's a miracle you find from the first absess in the second area. It's called Knowledge of Tools.
@@EternallyBlu oh fudge..im 27 h in the game and just got to the ending of the first area..thanks man! i thought its a difficulty thingy cuz I picked hard mode and the game is punishing me lol
Yeah it's a miracle, I'm also hard mode lol
forever idun + yoshitsune 😂
I almost had this nigga beat but then I missed 4 attacks in a row 💀 even after delibating them 😪
Why is the fps so bad
I use elemental attack ice so useful
I don't get it. When he does Tandava on my lvl 90 party, we're all almost dead. when he does it in anyone else's video, y'all have half health
OK I beat it. Just used Herald magatsuhi skill reduced damage whenever he used his own magastushi skill
I did 5k damage to him btw
First time watching this, can't believe you actually had demons die.
Right? Anyone with even half a brain can beat this boss without even taking damage. Isn’t that right, you perfect being. I won’t hold my breath waiting for you to make a mistake, because it will never happen.
im bad
@@austins.2495 it's easy, just dodge everything.
Want to point out that I never claimed to have taken 0 damage.
Taking our gods and making it demon???? A Hindu God that defeat demons is a demon? Why don't you all fight and beat up Jesus!!!
