    Hello !
    Impressions from the Anneau Du Rhin race track in France. Test of the new KTM 890 Duke R in comparison to the 990 Duke or 990 SDR from 2005 - 2011. You can see an experience with the Super Duke GT in a separate video. The Michelin Power Cup 2 tire is very surprising. Very good grip + handling! The performance level is between the Metzeler M7 RR and the Pirelli Supercorsa SP V2 SC2. They are still approved street tires. Outside temperature was 28 degrees. Only after about 10 laps did the Michelin tire lightly lubricate.

    Awesome video, great fun! As a 990 owner I've always wanted to see how the original beast compares to what we class as modern mid-weight bikes. 👏 👏 👏

      Thanks watching mate ! I owned always the high end KTMs manufactured in Austria. One of them was the KTM 990 SDR, model 2010 with monoseat and 132hp. The father of all dukes without electronic helpers. It is still the better bike for track than 890. The guy with the 990 had much more top speed ! So I had to corner fast and break late to follow ! Stay in good health !

      +1! I've had a standard SD and now an 08 SDR but have never been very tempted to switch to the 1290. The 890 is tempting. Nice to see both generations head to head on track.

      @@geoffography Yes also owned the 990 SDR monoseat a wonderful bike. Then I bought a 1190 Adventure and afterwards a 1290 SAS. The 1290 engine is the best thing for a big enduro but I do also ride BMW superbikes so there was no reason for me to buy a 1290 SDR. If I want I take one from my dealer as you can see here 😉.     Great vid! Sad to see the 990 is faster than the 890R in the straight because the guy seems to be too slow for you on the corners.

    awsome vid keep it up :) you got my sub, would you say you could take the 890 for longer rides? or is it better then to invest a bit more and get the 1290SDR i,m lokking for a fun sunday bike to ride but also have the ability to take it to work some days

      The 890 model is more friendly for your drivers licence. I lost mine last year riding several times with 1290 SAS very fast. I was catched because of youtube videos. What I want to say is that if you have the power you will use it. Just for fun 890 is sufficient. If you plan some tours in the alps or transport something to work 1290 SAS is the choice. If you ride on track and focus on design 1290 SDR would be yours. Or you have to buy more than one bike. As you can see here you can have fun with all models. The GT model would be a trade off for me - its weather a SDR nor a SAS. I would make a pro contra list. I hope that helped a bit....

      I will say it like this: You would never reuse the mounted tires on street ! But tires are ok for this bike and some rounds on track for fun !

      Ping el Manchmal muss man sich etwas Exklusives erarbeiten - aber dann macht es Spaß und ist ungefährlicher. 😉Ansonsten sicherlich sinnvoll um die Grenzbereiche auszuloten. Dann hast du auf der Straße mehr Luft.Das Video mit der GT zeigt wo der Grenzbereich für dieses Moped liegt.😂

      @@lostwheels5951 Oha ja. Mein Spezl fährt eine GT und ich eine 990er SD. Wir waren letzte Woche in der Steiermark unterwegs. Da hat er mir gezeigt, wo der Hammer hängt... Aber zum Bier am Abend waren wir wieder friedlich vereint :-))

      @@pingel9155 Die 990 SD(R) ist nun Kult ! Hatte bis 2015 die 990 SDR Monoseat mit 135 PS. Man sollte einfach alles aufheben - aber irgendwann fehlt der Platz. Meine SDR hat nun 70 Tkm und schnurrt bei meinem Kumpel herum.

      @@lostwheels5951 Stimmt, aber wer hat schon Platz, um alles aufzuheben. Ich werde meine auf jeden Fall behalten. Ist zwar "nur" eine SD, aber soviel Spass hatte ich noch mit keinem anderen Bike. War ein Zufallskauf mit nur 29Tkm und sah aus, wie neu. Aber sie ist auch ein Biest. Jedesmal wenn ich losfahre, nehme ich mir vor langsam zu fahren. Geht aber nicht. Kaum ist das Ortsende erreicht, zuckt die rechte Hand wie von selbst und alle guten Vorsätze sind verflogen... Kennst du das auch? :-))

      Thank you Alfonso ! It was a loan bike from KTM. Just for a fun ride ! All bikes run slower when I ride them because my weight is about 110kg with clothing . Wind slows down either ! My friend did ride round about 245 km/h with it but he is much smaller !! Normally I ride a BMW S1000 RR enough power also for big guys. Greets !

    excellent quality footage thank you for posting mate. did this 890 have the track package with full electronics upgrade? i can't believe KTM made this an optional cost since the 790 has it standard. if you have ridden the 790 on the same track I'd be interested in your feedback regarding the suspension and brake difference and if you think the $$$ is worth it!       Thanks for the flowers mate ! The 890 is a real improvement compared to 790. Brakes are better and suspension even worked fine over 100kg driver weight. But concerning track it is just playing around. I cannot be really objective because I have a race bike with Magura HC3 brake pump, brembo disks and a full Öhlins suspension. No helpers except a special K.I.T traction control which is controlled by ingnition impulses. But on the other side I owned many. KTM bikes with engines :1290 / 1190 / 990 / 890 / 790 and 690 for street riding. For a 2 hours ride the 890 does a good job. For fast travelling in the alps my first choice is 1290 SAS which is the best allrounder. The nice looking counterpart would be the 1290 SDR. But never underestimate a travel bike !

      Depends on Track and conditions. But Start with 2.1 rear and 2.4 Front. Reduce it in 0.1 steps.

      My pressiere was ok. 1.8 bar. At the moment arrived in Hockenheim. Here i will use 1.4 to 1.6 with BMW S1000rr.

      Ja nur mein Pitbike ist kleiner ! Video kommt ! Das sieht schon witzig aus ! Die 890 ist für zartere Jungs ganz ok aber nicht meine Gewichtsklasse obwohl meine neue RR ist genauso leicht 🤣. An diesen 2 Tagen habe ich mit fast allen KTM Ladies getanzt.

      All stock except exhaust. Clutch was a bit hard-steering
