The side clicks for the scroll wheel are great to bind it to the middle button and spam it when needed in games where you can ping things, it's way more ergonomic then moving all your fingertip to the top of the wheel and press it. The "sniper" button is great to use as a third lateral button to set up abilities and ultimates for games like Apex and Valorant. Yes, once you assign shortcuts that you use daily to the extra buttons (the g shift modifier button was a genius idea), you'd be hard pressed to switch to another mouse without that same functionality. I certainly won't mind it being lighter, but the other factors are more important to me.
I am rewatching this Video and have few things to say: I was using g5, g500, all of g502 proteus core/spectrum/hero/lightspeed and now I am using G502X (I even try G pro X superlight, it was too small and slippery and I could not go with 2 side buttons that feel awfull - I need 3). G502 lightspeed was almost imposible to remove grease from all these triangles. 8 Also sidebuttons are not collecting hand grease as g502 before did. 9 Wheel - The only thing is worse - more slippery, which make it worse feeling to scroll. 10 May be less important, but still. For forearm movement it be better to use mid, it has better speed and less deformation from the weight of your arm and mouse. I hope I have covered everything.
About 6:47, the wire on the G502X is extremely thin and flexible, much better than most stock braided cables. Still, I find the mouse uncomfortable for gaming and it feels cheap for the price (materials and such). Also the clicks on my unit sound very pingy and resonant, maybe because the wired version is hollower. I suppose those are issues that arise with weight reduction.
My dream mouse no cap. I have a GPX. I love the low weight but honestly i think the exta binds on the G502 are worth it's extra weight. Having the ability to use those extra binds while moving or repositioning and not needing to take fingers off WASD can give you a huge advantage in a lot of games.
I play cod everyday for hours, probably an unhealthy amount honestly . I have used a lot of different gaming mice and I always come back to the g502, the light mouse to me means nothing, as a matter of fact I feel like it makes my aim worse, could be the high sense I play on but I have put in countless hours with super light gaming mice and for me they aren’t anything special . The x has a really solid click latency and the same sensor as the super light, it’s person preference in my eyes, I’ve never seen the supposed clear advantage for fps gaming and if you are someone who feels like they need all the extra mouse buttons this is the best choice for you .
I just want to add, since I have no issues with wired mice, i went with the budget 502x wired, mostly because its almost half the price of the wireless but more importantly it is 31 grams lighter than my old g502 and after playing with the 502x I cannot see myself ever going with a lighter mouse also since I cannot go without all the extra buttons anymore :) After 7 years of the g502 the x model is just an improvement on the perfect mouse for me
@@boardzy i actually needed some mouse advice so I am thinking of getting a wireless mouse the price range around 100 max 150 dollar but it should big since I have large hands, 120mm or more and bit wide ( i actually found Razer viper ultimate a good choice for this) Do u have suggestions?
I played with a g502 really well for many years. It honestly is a pretty good mouse because it is extremely comfortable. It fits your hand like a glove
After my proteus core i bought a Deathadder v2 because i loved the older ones. Didnt like it my hand was hurting and mouse felt too light. Then got a Endgame Gear xm1 rgb, the god of claw grip (i am a claw gripper) , comfy but ultimately wasnt precise for me, i micro adjust on fps games with only my wrist, also even use fingers, that worked flawlessly with g502 but not with xm1 , my aim was less precise and jerky using 400 dpi and low sens on fps games even. Finally decided to go back to the basics and ordered a g502x wired (half the price but also i dont care about wireless and or rgb i can plug itto my k70 keyboard anyways) im waiting for its arrival today i hope ill like it but sounds like i will. Wasnt taking into account the shape, only the weight.
Comfortable but the thumb pad doesn’t allow you to comfortably drag your thumb on the mousepad resulting in a weaker performance when playing fps games.
logitech needs to implement optical switches on all their future mic release especially a revised g305 version coz the current one is awesome but plagued with double click issue
as an escape from tarkov sweat this mouse is perfect, the extra buttons are well needed although i do see why other fps games wouldn't benefit from having all those extra buttons
I played with RVU, RV Mini, OG G Pro X, and G703. However, I decided to buy G502 K/DA just for fun because it costed 50 canadian dollars. Now it is my main… Idk why, but I perform much better than with other mouses…
I know this is 2 years old at this point, but i've played many hours in CS and aimlabs over the years and can say that the G502X Wired is my best performing mouse by far. IDK what it is but i i think the weight distribution and the skate layout helps keep aim steady at high DPI, which IMO can only be a good thing on low DPI too. G502X Superlight would be insane...
I tried for years to get used to a lighter mouse I have tried the g303, g305, g203, finalmouse v2, orochi v2, mm710, roccat kone pure ultra. I have never been able to aim as good with my g502. I don't understand why.
Im starting to think g502 is addictive. The shape wins over the weight. Im saying this cuz it happened to me, as a claw grip 2 years using xm1 rgb i just can't get used to it i feel disarmed on fps games while my g502 felt like an actual aimbot on my hands. This is why i ordered the g502x wired now.
I used light mice for years and now that I have a g502 i notice I'm noticeably better at FPS games. 100 grams is probably the sweet spot for me and I'll stick to similar mice for a long time. The extra buttons are great too, i can have so many macros on at once
Hates on the G502 X, says the old wired Teflon G502 is better in every way, then says this G502 X is the best G502 version yet.. Sure there can be better mice out there, but I can't say this review was good.. biased, subjective, contradictive.
I currently have a G500 which indicates in which dpi setting you currently are. Does the G502 X have a similar feature? Since I don't see any lights on there to indicate that.
Your not missing anything. Logitech hasn't made a new gaming mouse in 20 years. They just keep recycling the same crap over and over and passing it off as new.
Having had an old G502 Proteus core retire from the common _double click of death_ problem around a year ago and only just getting around to replacing it with a G502 X. I wonder if it was maybe possible to crack open the older 502 and swap it with the 502 X... One thing that is 1000% certain though is the Ghub absolutely sucks balls. Its needlessly over complicated and I just spent the better part of 30-40mins manually setting up all my gaming profiles again. With LGS, everything would have been done in a few clicks.
Are these revisions any heavier than the OG? I can't really use lightweight mice due to hand injury (holding xm1 for example feels like gripping air and that poor rodent has been flown over the desk too many times).
Thanks for mentioning that the wired version still uses grippy rubber cables, fuck that. So far as I'm concerned they're charging $160 so that you can get USB C like 5 years too fucking late.
While not good for competitive FPS gaming, I still think the G502 is a good allround mouse. I used the old one before switching to a "2 Mouse setup" with the MX Master 3 for office work and the DAV3 for gaming. Still there are some games where additional buttons come in handy (I quite liked it in Warframe for Macros etc.)
My G305 battery lasts for months and charges in about 5 seconds, because that's how long it takes to pop in a new rechargable AA battery. Can we have optical switches for a revised G305 and G604 please Logitech?
I had just ordered the Razer Viper V2 Pro on amazon in September 2022.... its now February 2023 and the wireless no longer works. It only works under wired mode. google the issue, and its fucking COMMON AS FUCK. I swore to myself YEARS ago that I would never buy a razer product, and went and bought the V2 pro anyway.... and now I regret it. Money wasted. Another dead fucking mouse. I mean yeah wired it still works, but the cable is sorta stiff and its fucking shit in wired mode. Logitech in the past, its biggest issue wasn't the wireless aspect, but the double clicking from failed switches. Now they are finally on optical switches, so they have literally solved their biggest issue. Amazing wireless tech plus optical switches for clicking means its just epic. So ask yourself, would you really buy the Razer and have the wireless fail? or buy the new Logitech and take a chance that the new optical switches don't fail? As far as the GPX, bro, those have the highest failure rate of double click issues.... its the main reason I never got one. yeah, of course its cheaper than their newest mouse, why wouldn't it be? end of the day i think the new logitech is worth a shot.
I had 2 Razer ultimate keyboards , both with double keystrokes and 2 Razer Naga that disintegrated on me, buttons coming off and stuff. About a year of life. I'll never buy Razer again. Pretty happy with Logitech they always last more than 5 years for me.
Is the thumb rest on the 502x the same size as the older models? IIRC the original wasn't quite big enough to stop my thumb from dragging on the mouse mat
the mouse is great for halo, as you can put the fire, mele, nades, zoom, pickup weapons and equipment, switch nades, switch weapons, use equipment, and mark enemies on the mouse. besides, the cost about half in my country when they are on sale.
what specifically about this mouse makes you NOT recommend it for FPS? I love my MX master 3, but i feel like an additional 2 buttons at my fingertips would be so handy for FPS games, plus the sniper toggle button is very intriguing to me.
This mouse is perfect for FPS. I think this guy is the bad workman who blames his tools. I'm an avid FPS player and have sworn by a fully-weighted G502 for several years and it didn't miss a beat, and I'm in love with the G502X. Some guys just have weak wrists and blame the hardware, it seems. If you can, go to a store and see if you can have a go with a 502X (that's what I did). You'll know instantly if it's for you or not.
I still use a G502 for FPS because I'm so used to it. I'm not convinced to switch to the light mouse trend when I've used a g502 for so long. It would be so jarring to change lol
in the end it comes down to shape. Shape is king and if the g502 fits you than thats perfect. i have to say that i dont notice a difference between a 70g mouse and a 100g mouse. But then when i hold my Starllight tenz it is something compleatly different and absolutely worth it. Thats for me tho.
Got the wired g502 X for an upgrade to my wired g502, weight feels way better, rubber wire is fine and I don't actually notice it at all when gaming and I don't have it in a bungee. Probably gonna use it for singleplayer games then get myself another mouse for first person shooters.
God I hate reviews of a mouse designed for many types of games and not ONLY FPS games and they harp on it. A person that gets a 502 gets it because of extra button functionality in games. It's NOT just for FPS games in mind. If you only drone away in CSGO, Valorant and Overwatch then yeah get your ultra light mouse. But don't review a mouse that is not just FPS mouse, but a multi use mouse and then call it bad. It just makes you look dumb. There is a reason why it's the best selling mouse ever. Also if you can't handle 100g, then get stronger.
I know this is an old video but I'm a bit confused. This mouse is catagorized as wired on their website but it's clearly a wireless mouse? I don't have intention of wanting a wireless mouse .
I have a Frankenstein G502 SE shell with the insides of my original Proteus Spectrum (the original SE switches had double clicks) and a G900 wheel that I might upgrade to this. I was expecting to use the Frankenmouse forever until this dropped last month.
You live in a ultra-light mouse bubble my man. (And so do I). In the real world for normal people, 502 is a legendary GOATed mouse. And this is prob the best version of that so far. I been trying to convince my brother for the longest time to switch from this thing to a ultra light mouse. I offer him several options I own for free but he complains about missing buttons and lack of infinity scroll wheel. Doesn't seem to be bothered by the weight at all. Oh well. It is a great mouse though that I myself used for many years but I can't ever go back to heavy mice. If it was 15-20g lighter I'd be all in there
@@VvvnimaL yeah well it won’t make you better but it makes getting better easier. Just like higher frame rates. The less force required to move (and stop) a mouse, the less fatigue you will feel and the easier it is to be more accurate. The science speaks for itself bud
The fact it looks worse in my opinion and its lighter puts me off, i do need to either replace my lightspeed or just swap switches since mine is like quadruple clicking now
I am deeply disappointed by Logitech's decision to decrease the quality of their products, including replacing the braided fabric cable not only on the Logitech G502 X but also on their older models that previously featured a braided cable. This change is even more disheartening, as it indicates a shift towards cost-cutting measures at the expense of customer satisfaction. Logitech's choice to downgrade the cable material raises concerns about their commitment to providing reliable and high-quality gaming peripherals. As a result, my confidence in the brand has been significantly shaken, and I will actively explore alternative options for my future gaming accessory purchases.
the pre 2018 and the 2019-2020 braided cables were horrible, the cable change was a win (it is better to have a "good" light and thin rubber cable than a stiff braided cable). A paracord should have been a better change tho.
I had very good aim with it in csgo, it's great for higher dpi because of it's weight. lightweight mouse isn't good for high dpi because then your aim is very inconsistent and you are mostly overshooting targets.
honestly after a year the battery life is fucking awesome i have had to charge it very VERY little and i'm not much for light mouses so it dont matter to me but honestly it a jack of all trades
boadrdzy have u tried the HyperX Pulsefire Mat? Im very curious about this mousepad i hope u have review of it someday. Godbleess and great video *thumbsup*
if u are working with AutoCAD or some other software where u need to use a middle click don't buy this series of the mouse... The middle click is tough to press and it can go right and left so u can make a mistake very easily... also coz of the hardness to press it, it is not precise and when u are working fast middle-click doesn't hold the whole time so u are drop view very often
I love how all these videos trashing this mouse have comment sections full of people talking about how great it is. Turns out, if you're not trying to seem cool appealing to MLG weight preferences, a slightly heavier mouse isn't an issue
I use to use a g403 for years. I moved on and bought like 30 different mice. Now I'm use to mice in the 50 to 60 gram range. I think it would be cool to see a wireless g403 at around 60 grams
Summary: If you play FPS games professionally (actually professionally - if you're here watching this video, you probably don't count), then get a mouse designed for professional FPS players. If you are literally anyone else, there is no better mouse that exists.
Its a nice general mouse for destop usage and MMO's. But for FPS/TPS and action games its fairly meh in comparison to whats out there. Its shape and weight being not ideal for that. But for those who like the shape and don't mind the weight its not terrible. And wouldn't say its a bad mouse overall, just a decent general use mouse that can game, just not that great for shooters.
I know the FPS crowd hates this mouse for some reason, but I love it. Had a razer viper ultimate that died early on me (QC issues) but honestly hated it. Super light (which is a preference thing, not objectively good or bad), but the body was far too small for my hands and the symmetrical mouse 4 and 5 left me constantly hitting them on accident. I could only disable them entirely or just leave it on, maybe that’s changed now. With the 502 it actually fills my hand, it’s got some heft (I run it with the max weights, it’s very stable to me like that), and all the customizable buttons means I can actually get most stuff on the mouse that matters, instead of having to pick and choose. Main complaint is probably my switches. After about a year I’m getting some double clicks, but I’ll just swap them out. This mouse is popular for a reason. It’s because it’s a good mouse albeit a bit expensive. If you want an extremely low weight mouse, you do you, but neither is better than the other. People have different preferences, but even more importantly different hands. We end up with different technique, certain things fit better than others, etc.
Lighter IS objectively easier to aim with just based off of physics, but yeah, your gonna play better with what your more comfortable with over any “stat” of a mouse like weight or sensor, dpi, etc.
The only time you need over 1000hz polling rate for mouse is csgo and valorant because they support more then 1000hz polling rate with the raw input on in the setting. Also the Logitech g502 series is a great league of legends mouse.
I own a gpx and a g502 and the cost about the same, regarding that the gpx is outdated and still costs 100 bucks it's nice to see the g502 x plus come down to 100 where not the money desides which one to get and honestly I hate the gpx, got mine like 1 year ago, I hate the shape sent it in because of double clicking and stuff and yeah it's a decent mouse, but it just feels cheap
the main buttons are double click free since they are optical switches (although they sound hollow like every other optical switch). The side buttons tho... they are bottom tier cheap kailh switches. When the side -upper buttons fail I will change them to a Kailh GM 8 like I did to my old g502
Bought myself Xlite V2 after happily using the original G502 (Called Proteus Spectrum) for 6 years and after using the Xlite V2 for a week, I don't think I can ever go back to G502 shape mice ever again.
I still watched just because it's Boardzy, despite knowing I'd be bored watching a board reviewer review a boring mouse. lol

I just want to add, since I have no issues with wired mice, i went with the budget 502x wired, mostly because its almost half the price of the wireless but more importantly it is 31 grams lighter than my old g502 and after playing with the 502x I cannot see myself ever going with a lighter mouse also since I cannot go without all the extra buttons anymore :)
After 7 years of the g502 the x model is just an improvement on the perfect mouse for me
Does it experience weird double clicking / scroll wheel issues ever since you bought the g502x?

@@boardzy i actually needed some mouse advice so I am thinking of getting a wireless mouse the price range around 100 max 150 dollar but it should big since I have large hands, 120mm or more and bit wide ( i actually found Razer viper ultimate a good choice for this)
Do u have suggestions?
@@boardzy currently I am rocking a g502 hero prev gen model (the brick)
And have gotten used to it over 2 yr
Comfortable but the thumb pad doesn’t allow you to comfortably drag your thumb on the mousepad resulting in a weaker performance when playing fps games.
why isnt there a market for a mouse shaped like this but at the hyper low weights we are getting from lesser known companies?
logitech needs to implement optical switches on all their future mic release especially a revised g305 version coz the current one is awesome but plagued with double click issue
honestly i would never buy a logitech mouse again. i love trying diffrent micro switches
The bottom of the mouse feels very cheep and plasticy compared with old g502
as an escape from tarkov sweat this mouse is perfect, the extra buttons are well needed although i do see why other fps games wouldn't benefit from having all those extra buttons
Same here, could not use GPX for EFT. need all 6 exta buttons
I played with RVU, RV Mini, OG G Pro X, and G703. However, I decided to buy G502 K/DA just for fun because it costed 50 canadian dollars. Now it is my main… Idk why, but I perform much better than with other mouses…
because you can actually grip the mouse
OG G pro X is GPW ?
Do you need to put the dongle in your PC or can you use the G502 X PLUS with the USB cable only?
why do people hate on 502s?
I know this is 2 years old at this point, but i've played many hours in CS and aimlabs over the years and can say that the G502X Wired is my best performing mouse by far. IDK what it is but i i think the weight distribution and the skate layout helps keep aim steady at high DPI, which IMO can only be a good thing on low DPI too. G502X Superlight would be insane...
whats the name of the mousepad featured in this video? the one with the cobra, moonlight and waves @ 3:45
probably one of esports tiger mousepads
When are you going to post your review of that beautiful mousepad?
gonna include it in an esports tiger mousepad roundup, either this week or next
Reviews are inherently subjective, just depends on whether their subjectivity matches yours. An objective review would just be a specs sheet
I currently have a G500 which indicates in which dpi setting you currently are.
Does the G502 X have a similar feature? Since I don't see any lights on there to indicate that.
No, only 1 led to show battery status, you can also turn it off
i know its a bit late, but when you press the button to switch the dpi it will display a colored LED for a couple of seconds between the mouse buttons

Logitech removed weight system, the only "heavier" would be RGB one
Thanks for mentioning that the wired version still uses grippy rubber cables, fuck that. So far as I'm concerned they're charging $160 so that you can get USB C like 5 years too fucking late.
Hello ! Between this one and the G Pro X Superlight which would you choose?
Superlight obv.
While not good for competitive FPS gaming, I still think the G502 is a good allround mouse. I used the old one before switching to a "2 Mouse setup" with the MX Master 3 for office work and the DAV3 for gaming. Still there are some games where additional buttons come in handy (I quite liked it in Warframe for Macros etc.)
i used lots of razer mice and all of them who have mechanical switch end up double clicking.

I have this mouse and the Corsair MM350 pad. What skates would you recommend for a better glide?
You'll know instantly if it's for you or not.
i believe g303 SE also uses USB-C. Its a new era for Logitech

If it was 15-20g lighter I'd be all in there
Did you watch my video before commenting? I said this is the best g502 so far and if people want a mouse with this form factor its a good option.

Their braided cables sucked so happy to see them go back to rubber.
the pre 2018 and the 2019-2020 braided cables were horrible, the cable change was a win (it is better to have a "good" light and thin rubber cable than a stiff braided cable). A paracord should have been a better change tho.
My G502 X switches/buttons are very loud and are feeling hollow compared to the old G502 ones.
I got it and it’s disappointing returned it to Best Buy
Boardzy: don’t buy it for FPS
Me: buys for CSGO
I had very good aim with it in csgo, it's great for higher dpi because of it's weight. lightweight mouse isn't good for high dpi because then your aim is very inconsistent and you are mostly overshooting targets.
MX Master 3 uses USB-C, but it's possibly the first Logitech gaming mouse with USB-C
I have it... It feels good but the body is so high and it only has 125hz polling

if u are working with AutoCAD or some other software where u need to use a middle click don't buy this series of the mouse...

I find the clicks more deep like a keyboard. I don’t know why but it’s really nice.
Is that an Esports Tiger pad?
Lighter IS objectively easier to aim with just based off of physics, but yeah, your gonna play better with what your more comfortable with over any “stat” of a mouse like weight or sensor, dpi, etc.
i can't stand the mouse wheel on the g502 hero so i might get the wired version of the g502 x.
The only time you need over 1000hz polling rate for mouse is csgo and valorant because they support more then 1000hz polling rate with the raw input on in the setting. Also the Logitech g502 series is a great league of legends mouse.
besides moba games, g502 is also great for melee fps games like mordhau or chivalry.

GPW double clicking scarred people for life... so many people on mousereview asking if GPX double clicks when they are rarely any reports nowdays.
the main buttons are double click free since they are optical switches (although they sound hollow like every other optical switch). The side buttons tho... they are bottom tier cheap kailh switches. When the side -upper buttons fail I will change them to a Kailh GM 8 like I did to my old g502
