Why I love this: In the original we heard this song while being blown away by Wonka's factory and all the chocolate. This version in the film fits the theme of the movie: it's not about the chocolate, it's the people you share it with. It hits such a strong emotional beat and did something new while invoking the audiences' nostalgia. Very surprised by how much I liked this movie.
Honestly one of my top favorite movies. After watching Gene’s Chocoloate Factory he REALLY embodies Wonka as a young gentleman. It was such a breath of fresh air that I didn’t realize I even needed. I don’t even like musicals. If you haven’t watched it, do yourself a favor.
I heard the first 3 seconds and I felt myself tremble, shiver, my eyes widened and I got literal chills. Call me cheesy but this is truly like paradise
I'll admit I went to see this movie feeling really skeptical. Do we need yet another Wonka movie? The answer is a resounding YES. This entire movie was such a delight! I had a smile on my face the entire time (tears too.) It instantly felt like I was watching a classic with that sense of wonder and magic you'd expect, but even better. The songs were wonderful. All the acting was incredible too. Wonka's character was beautifully kind-hearted and the villains were evilly villainous with a slight Dickensian flair. I never really understood what Charlie Bucket meant when he says: "Candy doesn't have to have a point. It's candy." until this movie which it demonstrates so well. Charming from start to finish. I'll definitely be buying the movie and the soundtrack when they come out!.
I knew I wasn’t the only one with tears in my eyes. As a young person struggling with a lot right now mentally this movie brought me so much joy it reminded me about the fun in life and to keep working for what I need. Amazing acting and lovely cast. Better than the barbie movie tbh, which I wasn’t expecting it to be. Anyone reading this, have a lovely day or night🩷
Love that this song gains a whole new context in this movie. Fits the idea of a beaten down orphan who lived in misery her whole life finally reuniting with her mother and having it play out exactly like she always imagined it would. Everybody in my cinema got wet eyes from this scene 😭
Why is this song so beautiful? Is it the chord progression? Is it the lyrics? Is it Timothee's voice? All I know is that I'm a grown man, and I can't contain my tears!! 😭😭
Me neither. It's the story it tells. It's just hard to see story and character writing with all the bells and whistles of art and music grabbing our attention first.
Hi there! Timothée’s rendition of Pure Imagination is particularly beautiful because of how he transitions between two emotional tones. In the first half, when he sings "Come with me," there’s a subtle sadness, almost a sense of loneliness, which reflects his character’s isolation. Then, as the song progresses, the second "Come with me" shifts to a more hopeful and upbeat tone. You can feel Timothée’s voice radiate warmth, joy, and a newfound sense of possibility, making the contrast deeply moving and impactful.
This whole sequence has so many little touches that make it easily the best in the film. From Noodle’s daydream being exactly what her life got to be from that point on. To the Chocolate River room being the first thing Wonka builds in the factory, as an homage to the shop he built with his friends, and all of the fixtures being bigger or better versions of things in their shop. Someone also pointed out that in “Hatful of Dreams”, the coin misses Wonka’s pocket, and lands in the gutter…only to be found years and years later by Charlie Buckett and used to purchase the last winning Wonka bar.
That would make sense, if the original 1971 film took place in what is most likely Belgium, as this film does. But that’s not the case: Charlie and the factory he visits are portrayed as being in America.
I watched this movie after feeling down and losing myself, and now every time I listen to this soundtrack, I cry, tears of joy. This song is like a medicine to heal my mental state, because it brings me hopes, joys, happiness and motivations. It's so beautiful, gentle and magical, and it's like a big warm hug comforting me. Love this song and this movie so much... ❤❤
I just watched it in theaters yesterday and I was astonished. I was expecting it to be an entertaining movie but realized it was much more! I clapped like crazy at the end, watched the whole end credits and cried tears of appreciation, happiness, sadness, realization. I loved the message.
Hearing this inside the cinema along with my kids is pure joy. Moments like these are what movies are made for. This song alone is worth the price of admission. Magical! 🍫🎄
This may be my favorite Wonka movie I really appreciate everything about it. The message was so heartwarming. I feel like if Roald Dohl saw this he'd be amazed. I didn't just watch the movie I experienced it. Watched the whole end credits.
I heard a lot of people saying that they thought this movie was going to be a complete flop, and I've gotta admit, I thought that too. But I watched Wonka, and it had so much beauty and mastery woven into its plot and its music, neither of which are appreciated enough. It made me laugh and cry several times simultaneously, especially at the end when this particular song was playing. I'm so glad I watched this masterpiece ♥
This was the song i was waiting for throughout the movie. One of the most famous movie songs of all time, they had to get it right. And they did just that, i had tears in my eyes during this scene and ive had the song stuck in my head since! They really nailed this whole project, Timothee did an amazing job

I've seen this movie in theatres twice in 2 weeks now. Once wasn't enough, and I have to admit I got emotional both times when I rarely ever do with movies. They really nailed the nostalgic inner-child feeling you get from the original, especially with the way they've incorporated the original music and melodies. (Also small spoiler): The fact that Wonka got the idea of the golden tickets from the golden bit of paper his mother wrote on with the last bar of chocolate she gave him made the end of the movie so much more emotional. One of the best movies I've seen in a long time.
Saw Wonka today, and as soon as he sang the first words of PURE IMAGINATION, I started crying because it brought nostalgia to my childhood memories when I first saw the 1971 film back in the 90s. WONKA 2023 is a beautiful film that is a must-see. It won't disappoint you.
See, I was expecting it to come up throughout the movie. But by the time the end came up I’d forgotten so I was caught by surprise by those first few lines
This film was "magical". Man I can't get over how perfect a lot of the music was! There could not have been a better actor than Timothy chalamet, an immaculate performance. This movie made me feel like a kid again. What a beautiful prequel to the original. It's as brilliant as the original but with 50 years of advanced theatrical technology. I couldn't stop smiling.

This movie is such a breath of fresh air. The whimsy, the HEART, the fun music! I loved it and I'm so glad my bf and I decided to sit down one night and give this a chance. I've been listening to the soundtrack for days now.
I hope he gets nominated with how they expanded the categories. Cilian Murphy has been the frontrunner all year, but Paul Giamatti in The Holdovers will certainly become the momentum favorite. Timothee deserves his flowers and he'll get them. He was terrific in Wonka obviously, but I'm a grown man and just a month ago I saw Little Women for the first time and midway though the film I thought to myself "this dude might be the James Dean of his generation". I thought he was legit long before Dune, but he's on an absolute TEAR right now.
Hauntingly beautiful with that essence of loneliness at the start, to where you can hear the slight laughter at spin. Not only is the song a continual crescendo musically but emotionally. Truly amazing
Dude, when Wonka found the factory at the end and it slowly turned into what it looks like in the original movie.... I cried. It felt like i had healed my inner child.
My wife and I saw the film this evening, we both very much enjoyed it. The rendition of this song in the context of the scene did bring tears to my eyes.
I had to sing this music at a talent show, and it was one of the best things I ever chose to present in my life, im very grateful that I did something so beautiful with this exelent song. In the end, the secret isn't the chocolate. It's who you share it with!

Wonka was the first movie I've ever watched in a movie theatre. I cried and laughed so hard, the show had everything I loved. Beautiful music, beautiful storyline. I will never get tired of this story! Loved all the actors in this show!
This is an amazing song. As somebody who watched Wonka, "Pure Imagination" is the PERFECT song for the ending. It's a beautiful song that brings us back to the beginning of the tale. That's why I love this song.❤
I cried at the end of the movie when he sang this. The movie was SO brilliantly put together. Greatest revamp since Wilder. Wilder would be so proud. ❤️ Really warmed my heart.
It’s been so long since a movie made me feel child-like joy and wonder. I forgot how amazing it was to feel pure happiness from just the simplest things. I had a warm feeling throughout the entire film. I felt like a kid again from this scene and the World of Your Own scene.

I remember going to the movies with my girlfriend and her little sister when it was released, we really had a great time together. Somehow this song makes me feel so nostalgic , plus, going for chinese food afterwards was the cherry on top :´)

Didn't expected to be so emotional and to cry during this movie. That song has so much sense in the movie finale scene, really strong narrative ! And Chalamet is REALLY cool as Wonka and sings so well.
When I started to forget why I am obsessed with Timothee, Wonka came and I know that there is no way I will stop being amazed by the actor Timothee Chalamet
That pause after Come with me?! Yeah they knew it would hit us in our chest, right in the feels and that we’d need a moment to gather ourselves 🥲 I had little to no expectations for this movie but I was blown away. Bravo Timothée
The people behind this movie were truly passionate about the original and put all that love and passion in this I just watched it I loved it so much 😭🤚🏽
Gene wilder's version will always be the OG, but the Wonka re-imagination is pure delight. The lyrical rewrites to fit the two scenes fit fantastically, and the more upbeat second verse had a lot of colorful flair.

Same! I was in a 5th grade play and it meant alot to see this and be brought back to my childhood
🧀
YES! I FELT THAT WAY TOO!
This movie was a masterpiece!
😢 my fav film
That's called nostalgia, my friend!
I'm so glad it was an original story. Young Wonka is such a sympathetic and compelling character. It could have been a soulless remake, but it wasn't.
Enjoyed this movie a lot! Definitely want to get the soundtrack too. Hopefully it’s on vinyl.
The movie is trash sorry to say :)
@@iancarruthers3688yesss I want it on vinyl too I think it’s meant to come out in 2024? But doesn’t say a specific date
Love that this song gains a whole new context in this movie. Fits the idea of a beaten down orphan who lived in misery her whole life finally reuniting with her mother and having it play out exactly like she always imagined it would. Everybody in my cinema got wet eyes from this scene 😭
The moment also helped Wonka come to terms with his own mother.
Actually, i didnt cry at that part. I cried when his shop was broken down because i felt so bad💀
Definitely the chord progression
It's all of that together which makes the song so beautiful
@AlexisStreams Agreed! 👍
Oh Wow!! I totally remember that...
Wonka loreeeee
YOOOO THE LAST BIT ABOUT THE COIN??? THAT'S SUCH A HEARTWARMING THEORY😭🙏🏽
That would make sense, if the original 1971 film took place in what is most likely Belgium, as this film does. But that’s not the case: Charlie and the factory he visits are portrayed as being in America.
@@ilovemuslimfood666i thought it was in Milan because of the Galeries Gourmet
I watched this movie after feeling down and losing myself, and now every time I listen to this soundtrack, I cry, tears of joy. This song is like a medicine to heal my mental state, because it brings me hopes, joys, happiness and motivations. It's so beautiful, gentle and magical, and it's like a big warm hug comforting me. Love this song and this movie so much... ❤❤
exactly the same for me 🧡
I just watched it in theaters yesterday and I was astonished. I was expecting it to be an entertaining movie but realized it was much more! I clapped like crazy at the end, watched the whole end credits and cried tears of appreciation, happiness, sadness, realization. I loved the message.

Just came from the cinema, pure magic! We were so happy we cried lol. Fav movie of the year and chalamet was perfect!

Totally agree. I left the cinema with my young lad dancing his way out, beaming to this.
Oh so true....making memories ❤from Ireland 🇮🇪
This may be my favorite Wonka movie I really appreciate everything about it. The message was so heartwarming. I feel like if Roald Dohl saw this he'd be amazed. I didn't just watch the movie I experienced it. Watched the whole end credits.
Timothée's voice is mesmerizing ❤

You're mesmerizing!
Paul King is truly the master of ‘feels like a warm hug’ cinema. The two Paddington films and now this, the guy has my attention.
He needs to do more Roald Dahl adaptations, he captured the vibe of his books near perfectly
@@mrcritical6751I’d be interested in a James and the Giant Peach movie by him.

They really nailed this whole project, Timothee did an amazing job
please tell me they explained the tunnel scene from the original
@@devanmoran the tunnel scene was the one thing I think that wasn't even alluded to in this one. It's positioned as a prequel to Wilders movie, with lots and lots of nods to that version of the character.
Yes they did. With a new twist to it
I haven't watched the Johnny Depp one in awhile but was Pure Imagination in it or not? I was pretty happy to hear this song from the original in it
@@roses4199 from what I can remember it was not in the Depp film, which actually feels like a weird decision in hindsight

I watched it today and teared up aswell. Im glad it was a happy ending tho!
I plan on seeing Wonka next week.
One question: Was this movie dedicated to Gene Wilder?
I thought the same thing. Like the trailer didn’t do it justice. I went in thinking wow this looks kinda fun. It was fantastic.
I have such respect and admiration for the original film. Gene Wilder was a freaking genius and perfect as Wonka. This version is amazing and so well done.... bravo.
Think Gene Wilder would of been proud of Timothy's performance in the movie
@@ninjapro5451 apparently Gene Wilder was against any type of Wonka prequel, but after this, I sincerely hope where he is he can appreciate this, this was something pure, a new perfect children's movie with the perfect message for those who don't know, and the biggest love letter of all for those who know of the original
🙂😭💜🙂🫢
@popcultureenthusiast5587 never heard about that but do know it was the book's author that didn't like the Wilder version and didn't want any sequels (since he did have one for the book)

This movie was a masterpiece to me, it gave of that feeling of childhood wonder to me again, I watched this and it was marvelous, while giggling like a kid in a candy store
Too bad less people came to see it. In the cinema where I am at I only saw like a few people, just one family, a group of teens, and a couple
If this movie released back then I would imagine a lot of people and children with joy in their eyes would come to see the movie, too bad that there’s only little, after the film has ended I had tears in my eyes while imagining what I said. It is quite sad
I hope it does well, I see a couple calling it a remake and whatnot. Judging it for that and its sad. Because this film to me is far from a remake based on the trailers I seen.

We'll begin with a spin
Traveling in the world of my creation
What we'll see will defy

THIS IS AMAZING!! TIMOTHEE HAS A WONDERFUL VOICE
This dude better get an Oscar. I just watched the movie, and I want to buy the DVD and eat chocolate 😂
Timothee 🥰💘💗
I want to eat the DVD. After using about 2 boxes of Kleenex.

This movie totally surprised me and Timothee did such a wonderful job 😭😭

When this started playing during the movie inside I was smiling and so happy. He did a great job here with such a wonderful song, I love both versions
I shed a tear and choked up when he started singing this song. They teased it throughout the entire movie, and then just when you thought it wouldn't happen...bam. Great delivery of the lines.
