I had NO expectations for this film... A Wonka prequel seemed like such a cheap idea, but I was completely blown away by almost everything, especially the music. This reprise was a nice cherry on top of a genuinely great movie.
You can feel the love and passion the creators had for the source material, and it shows. 10/10 would be in a world of pure imagination again.

This was the last movie I watched with my mom while she was in the hospital fighting leukemia. I played it on my laptop, and for that moment it felt as if the world paused and nothing else mattered. We laughed, cried, and smiled together while holding hands. Every time I hear this song, it reminds me of her and brings me to tears.

it's a shame how Gene Wilder passed away before he could see this wonderful tribute to the character, by Timothee, that he made into such an iconic role. It showed Wonka's dedication through financial struggles, fighting against the corporate corruption that tries to push him down, his positive and vibrant attitude in the face of cruel hardship and his love of helping others. Gene Wilder would've been proud!

    • @danielstefanovich8388
      @danielstefanovich8388 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +103

Gene would have hated it. He already came out and said he hated the Depp version and thought it was completely unnecessary (it is).
No offense to Timothee, but this film should not have been made and goes completely against the original.

Something quite interesting about this version is that it has two parts that convey something different, the first is an emotional part that for me conveys that Willie is letting go, not only of Noodle but also of his mother after having done what he had to do, and the second is a more lively part and that has certain playful and sarcastic touches, which for me shows a character evolution, who goes from being an idealistic and innocent dreamer, to an idealistic dreamer but who begins to have a greater range when it comes to facing things.

Yet at the same time, he himself is incredibly lonely, with only his workers to keep him company. I’m 22, was sat in my uni room bored to shit. I decided to go to the cinema on my own for a bit of fun late at night. Went to watch this movie.
First time in almost 10 years I truely felt like a kid again, I had the whole cinema to myself, sat right in the middle, and had the cheesiest grin on my face and goosebumps multiple times throughout the movie.
Ive maybe watched this 3-4 times more since, what a wonderful movie!!

I loved the way Wonka looked at Noodle when she was starting to walk towards her mother, then when she looked back at him he smiled, happy for her. I loved that part, it was a beautiful detail to Wonka’s kind, caring personality. Wonka and Timothée are both such good people with good hearts. Timothée did a good job as his own version of Willy Wonka, so as Gene Wilder (I didn’t watch his movie yet…..) and Johnny Depp’s version of the fictional character.
I wish I could taste what Wonka’s chocolate taste one day, I was literally craving chocolate after watching it 3 times-
Anywayyyyyyy I love Timothée’s movies and so as this one, this one is amazing and so as his singing!!

I am proud to admit that I actually cried during this scene. The nostalgia and giddiness of seeing my childhood and lifelong dream come true right before my eyes was something I had been longing for since I first saw the original.
I have to admit... when I heard about there being a prequel to my all time favorite movie being made, my expectations were... not all that high. I mean why mess why the perfection that was.. well, already perfect? But when I went to watch the movie, I was surprised by how well written and the attention to all the details they included. I had ignored all the articles and press about the movie, so imagine my surprise to find it a musical of all things. Now, I know that the first movies had musical numbers in them, but I still wasn't expecting it to be a sibling to them!!! All in all, I am very happy and proud by how well the movie came out.

The way the audio pops at 2:44, when the song picks up, is done remarkably well! This was one of the absolute best parts of the movie. It almost makes me want them to do a sequel, being the traditional Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, with another follow up sequel being Charlie and the Great Glass Elevator.
Going into this movie I didn’t think I’d say it, but after finishing it I can confidently say that I wouldn’t mind seeing more of Chalamet’s Wonka. I don’t really think it’s in the cards anyway, but they’ve captured something special with this film, and with it comes great potential!

It’s better if the sequel was a Great Glass Elevator Adaptation because we already know the traditional Charlie and the Chocolate Factory Story. For the opening credits not only I want to see flashback drawings of Wonka I also want to see drawings of the story we all know, you know Wonka invites five lucky people in his factory, Charlie finds the last golden ticket, the four rotten kids meet their demises and Charlie winning the grand prize and being selected as Wonka’s heir.

Make us all think we are Willy Wonka
    As he says:
We are the music makers and we are the dreamers of dreams!

There is no doubt in my mind that if Gene Wilder were alive today, he would have been proud of what they accomplished. It’s not just a film but a love story to the tale of Willy Wonka and a tribute to the great Gene Wilder

I gave my mom the biggest hug after this film. Its crazy how people thought it would be a theater kid Willy Wonka when he brought the right level of quirkiness, spirit, humanity, and empathy to the character. He did such a beautiful job.

I honestly loved this rendition of “Pure Imagination.” This version has a tone of young hope and ambition, looking ahead to the bright future ahead, while Gene Wilder’s rendition is of a man who’s ready to retire, somberly looking back at his past and his legacy. I loved the parallel between the two versions.

Still a fan of the original but absolutely loved this redo... We all wanted to know where Wonka started from.... And from start to finish, laughed, cried, and learned every song with my son. Even have them so I can listen anytime🤭.... I think Tim played Wonka very well. His happy giddy spirit really gave the movie heart. This was very well done!! Thought they'd destroy it but I dont think I've ever loved a musical so very much until.....

What I found amazing was how Wonka instantaneously created his chocolate factory in the castle using his pure imagination. An imagination so powerful that the Oompah Lumpah was completely caught up into it.
That with the song this last scene truly remarkable and yet totally convincible!
Bravo to the actors and producers of this film. This is a film I will see time and time again. 🤗

Timothee Chalamet singing my favourite classic of Pure Imagination brings back so many memories.
This has been the best prequel to Roald Dahl's classic children's book of all time. Next it's Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory (1971)
3:56 The beginning of a beautiful friendship 😊😊😊

I used to be sceptical of having Timothee as Willy but when I watched the movie, I was blown away by his performance. He's a good actor and the movie is great too!! His songs and his expression nailed it!! The type of movie my money will go into!! Just like the movie who I thought Hollywood never make anymore but they did!! 10/10 🫶❤️

Come with me, and you be in a world of Pure Imagination.
Reach out, touch what was once just in your imagination.
Don’t be shy, it’s alright if you feel a little trepidation.
Sometimes these things don’t need explanation.
If you want to view paradise,
Simply look at them and view it.
    Somebody to hold onto, it’s
All we really need. Nothing else to it.
Come with me and you’ll be in a world of Pure Imagination!
Take a look and you’ll see into your imagination!
We’ll begin with a spin, traveling in the world of my creation!
What we’ll see will defy explanation!
If you want to view paradise,
Simply look around and view it!
Anything you want to do it!
Want to change the world? There’s nothing to it!
There is no life I know to compare with Pure Imagination!
Living there you’ll be free if you truly wish to be!

I watched this movie with an uncle. He’s normally a serious man when it comes to movies, but with this one and particularly this scene, I saw him shed a few tears. We both were crying, but we didn’t spoke, we just hugged each other until we calmed down.

This scene brought me back to my childhood. Willy Wonka was one of my brother’s favorite movies growing up and he would’ve loved this movie if he was alive. This scene brought me to tears because of the nostalgia and how it connected me to my brother the way Wonka connected to his mom through sharing his chocolate with his friends. This is peak cinema
