I love the message Chad sends ... even if you are lime me and u love missing and shaping .... you can relate to his insistence .... that time saved , not sanding and fussing with each step ..... I’d personally compromise .... and block litely each application .... to ensure good shape ..... but in the end , it’s all about the last coat or “
Millimetre” or prep before paint !!

I did this body fill flooding back in the early 80's It does work just fine and like you say it saves time and it looks good at the end. I had a old grand le mans wagon that I did all over. I even rebuilt the engine and trans . Chad you are a master at doing this .

I have been in all aspects of the auto industry for over 43 years. A lot of our work comes from people who weren’t afraid of tearing into a job and soon finding out that they were way in over their heads, especially on new cars and trucks. Most of the time it cost more money than it would have if they had taken it to a professional to start with.

Why does your body fill give you so much time to work with it. Without the resin, I always run out of time even on smaller batches. (brand maybe)

body work is so deverse and done in so many ways. You're doing what i think i'd do it like. I'd probably put resin in my body filler too because it goes on smoother with less pin holes. I think the biggest mistake made is when you put filler here and there several times instead of flooding the whole thing. I like using a cheese grater before reappling filler if you catch it right it helps level it out making it all go faster. It saves on sandpaper because you don't dull it getting the top off of it. Keep up the good work !

I’m not experienced at all I just took in a job from a friend just so I can practice at work, my coworkers told me I have no idea what I’m doing and that I’m never gonna learn how to do it by doing it by myself, I did a whole color change on my bimmer 2 years strong and it looks the same as it did when It came out, like you said stop being scared and do better every job

Oh im scared alright!..lol 50 min it took just to spread out one coat of mud over just part of one qtr panel, which is kinda a easy flat open spot..And then to think that needs to be sanded and repeat another coat of mud and then if it was me i would switch to a coat of glazing putty..all those steps need sanded between..Gives you an idea of how many hrs its going to take to just do the mud work!...Oh and mudding all the concave body line sections that you have to spread the mud out with your fingers and then get creative with different sanding blocks...jeez so much work!! and so much money in sand paper and mud..And to think we havent even got to fill primer yet which has about just as many steps!!..im glad you still got the motivation in you Chad

Love watching you guys work! Your work inspires me to push harder and build better! I'm a young(ish) collision repair tech on his way into restorations and custom work( want to learn metal finishing and how to build my own panels. )
I have a question however, what sort of adhesion do you get when putting bonds over unsanded fibre reinforced filler? usually when I do mud work I sand with 80 grit or coarser for mechanical adhesion on bare metal and 40-80 grit over fibre reinforced filler. I am not judging at all, just want to learn and expand my knowledge.
Thank you so much for you time and I look forward to your response!

You are definitely an artist as opposed to a technician in the best sense of the word. I'm a novice who learned bodywork and paint from watching others back in the mid-70's. Now that I'll be 66 in a few weeks, I'm just getting back into working on my '77 Merc Marquis Coupe. After a 45 year hiatus, I'm relearning everything all over again. sweet, I've always wanted to try doing body work, been doing plaster & drywall repairs for over 40 years and the procedure seems soo similar. Also, if you coat the whole vehicle with body fill, then the paint is being applied to the same surface, which means it gets absorbed the same throughout the car. Believe it or not, you can see the difference in how the paint soaks in to various substrates.

I’m about to start (tomorrow) bodywork on a chopped top that has cracked over the years. I had some concerns but not after watching Chad’s DGAF attitude. There are so many people out there that are so concerned with doing it the “right way” and not about just getting it done and especially when they’re being filmed.

....been following Chad for a long time. The work he does is top notch......you may not dig the lines of this work, but you've got to admire the skill. (Love the cow-dog)

I think Chad should have the task of adding an indicator to the video that displays liters per hour.... not of gas, but body filler. That man can fling mud like no one else. Its always nice to see someone work that knows what they are doing!!
