    I can guarantee that even though it is fun to drive, it's also the safest car you've ever driven. Safety for the family and when the kids have been dropped off, you still have something fun to drive harder.

    I love my R-Design V60 with Polestar tune so much that my wife bought one too. In the US , we call them "sport brakes" not station wagons anymore. Under 5 seconds to 60 MPH, AWD, and fantastic handling makes for one great car.

    Great review Nick. I now have an Audi allroad 2.7T (same motor in a B5 S4) 6MT and previously owned an 05 V70R 6MT. I love fast wagons, and the Volvos are really fantastic. Best part about it is that no one expects a soccer mom mobile to be pulling on their Porsche or whatever! This is probably the best review I've seen on this car and the audio clips are fantastic! I had no idea they could get the T6 to sound like that. Sounds like a V8. Keep up the great work!

    Excellent short take on one of the best wagons on the market! This would make an excellent stealth-mobile/Q-ship. Thanks, Nick!

    I always had Audis in my life last 20 years. I support 4 family cars on 2 continents. Since Audi didn't offer new wagon model in the USA the last 5 years 2013-2018 I decided to buy my first Volvo - a 2016 V60 Polestar ! What a car ! Blew y mind away ! On picture it looked not on par with the Audi interior, but in reality on touch is even better ! Too bad Volvo is going all electric in future. It's likely my first and last Volvo ever..but so if I went with newer Audi :-(

    Planet Earth seems to have gotten smaller in the last 50 years.
    We have a Kiwi, reviewing a Swedish car, in the USA, for all the world to watch on TH-cam.
    I love it. I don't think Christopher Columbus could have imagined this happening.
    Great review.

    12:00 😆 I loved the camera dropping loose to the road, too much power of the engine that the camera holder could not resist the inertia of the thrust 💯💪🏼, and I most loved to engine sound as it revs 💯🏆
    I drive a standard V60 2.0 D4 and I only missed to have it with a sunroof like yours.
    But I would love drive the V60 polestar too. 👍🏼

    Keep 'em coming, Nick. Love my S60 sedan. Surprisingly sporty to drive. Handles well, rides firm but comfortably, and yeah...Volvo knows how to make a car seat.

    Turbo Volvo wagons are the best. Volvo wagons in general are the best. *Swedish* cars are the best*.
    *I am heavily biased, given my ownership and love of fine Swedish automobiles.

    This is a cool car, my mum had a Volvo 460 Turbo (I think?) when I was young, with a huuuge spoiler at the back and I loved it. Since then I'm not a big fan of the direction Volvo have taken but Polestar brings back some of what I loved.

    i just leased a 2016 V60 T5 and it reminds me of my 2012 GTI (which was a stick) if it were slightly softer sprung. Really enjoying this car and can't wait to take it on a road trip.

    • @admrob

      *****
      Yes. Took it on a 700 mile road trip over the weekend and got low 30s MPG while going 85-90 and climbing from -282' below sea level (death valley) to over 10,000' elevation.

  • @Chris.Davies
    @Chris.Davies 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Funny, Nick!
    Currently there are 20x V60 T6 3.0 Polestars for sale on TradeMe, in NZ.
    Make sure you get the old 3.0 T6, and not the more recent 2.0 four pot T6.
    Meantime, my WRX-based 1997 Tommy kaira M20b Wagon remains the only one in the country, and probably one of only 100 or so left in the world.
    The small-to-medium-sized station wagon is the best possible car form factor. Sports cars are garbage (I know, I have a 928 and a 911), and that includes any 911 after about 2010. SUVs are total crap. Hatchbacks are for stay-at-home Mums. Electric cars are for rich idiots. And trucks like the F150 are for people who don't understand what a car is actually for. :)

    • @Doggepp
      @Doggepp 10 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      It is a running joke within the Polestar concern, and has been for quite a while. The name is Rebel Blue if you're looking at the paint code, but swedish racing green is the "nickname" of it /former polestar employee

    Awesome car- i have the Polestar model before that and it flies... Downside: The biggest by far is that it has a horrendous turning circle - a bit like a truck. It handles well, but it doesn't have a good turning circle. You dont notice how bad until you go to do a sneaky fast u-turn or similar when you need to do it - you end up looking like a bad driver... It also goes through brake pads and rotors- 27,000kms for the first set, and the sat-nav is pretty horrendous in logic and in Australia $295 per upgrade (not included in service costs)/ That may have been improved - not sure. Want to put a iPad mini in to make nav workable and use google maps- but that will look really shoddy. Also - have seen a hack online to bring turbo boost levels etc into the display. As an ex-mechanical engineer i want to know more about what the engine is doing. Lack of proper sports instrumentation (oil temp/ pressure, water temp etc) which, while measured by the engine, would be nice to know - so i can predict before something goes wrong or adjust my driving. Arguably the internal computer will be better at doing that than me, but I dont just want a 'see serviceman' display or a crippled car if i am 1,000kms from a volvo service location. Apart from that - no buyer's remorse - just room for improvement... Would also love to drop a manual transmission in it so i can drive it properly... I checked Audi and Range Rover (Evoque Sport) and Benz, Macan etc. and this car has the most usable space by far - with the Macan surprisingly good too.

    Dear Nick, i'm one of your biggest fans, but in the film (at 3:04) you talk about standard S70's and at 8:08 about V70's. To some viewers this might be a little confusing. Also would like to emphasise that the Polestar has a 4 wheel drive system (haldex). I have watched all your reviews and love the quirkiness of your stuffed animals. Your enthousiastic way of presenting is funny, engaging and unique. Can't wait for your next review! Dirk Boom (Netherlands)

    You stopped on an up-hill on-ramp to chat? :o Lol
    Owner of #41/80, so I'm biased. But happy.
    Nice to see the interest and positive view. But I can't help but feel viewers are short changed by not demo'ing it in the twisties where this really shines and/or talking about the trick dual stage valving of the Ohlins. (let's face it, it's not a crazy fast car, but it handles better than most everything out there)
    Like we do when we make a how-to video, you may want to outline a script of things to touch on concicely, rather than seemingly winging it, missing important stuff, and repeating other stuff.
    But still great to see others see the same thing in the car that was able to pull me to the Volvo brand.

    • @stevemato9122
      @stevemato9122 10 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Follow-up: it's worth mentioning the only other car that used the dampers used on this from the factory is the Lamborghini Aventador. While clearly that does not mean the V60/S60 Polestar handling equates to the Lambo. It is meant to say handling and road manners are elevated more than anyone would expect, and should demonstrate just how well Polestar equipped this to meet their expectations. And for once the bean counters at the manufacturer did not win out and distill the final product.

    Volvo seats are AMAZING, so damn nice. Fell in love with them when I was shopping last year. Was seriously looking at the S60 sedan. The deal breaker was that waterfall center console. Its gorgeous and funky but the edges are sharp and my knee fell right against it. Bracing against it while cornering or even just long commutes would have been painful. Not everybody runs into that issue but I did. Wasn't wild about the small nav screen and dated switch layout on the center console either. They really need to update the interior. Keep those seats though!

    • @stevemato9122
      @stevemato9122 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I had this same concern. But all the car had to offer won out. And I'll tell you in real world while driving, I never hit it. But I am tall too, and keep the seat all the way down. That helps my right leg from hitting what you describe.

    I remember the Volvo 850 T5 Estate of the mid 90's in the British Touring Car championship races. That car changed people's perception of what a Volvo could do. Since then they've slipped back in to the (as Billy Connolly describes) 'Beige' image of being the choice of a more mature and less adventurous clientele ... and AMG and M-cars are very much more attractive ownership proposition than this .... _don't you think Nick?_

    • @NickMurray
      @NickMurray  10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      For sure and that is why they are only making 80, they know it is a very limited market when stacked up against the AMG/M/RS cars of this world but that is also why it is pretty cool, no one else on the street will have one...

  • @Simon-jd3fz

    Hi, I currently own a S60 T6 Rdesign, the things I am not cool with are the turbo lag and the braking system, in the review you mention there was no noticeable lag, could you tell me a little bit more of that? How does it compared to M4? Or did you try the R-design version? thanks

  • @georgeellis346

  • @shanemiles252
    @shanemiles252 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    I think there were 40 V60's and 40 S60's? It may have been 80 polestars overall brought into America but the number may vary between models, therefore leading you to assume that there were 40 overall. That's just a guess of mine. The S60 is the sedan as you probably know and if I had to choose it would most definitely be the S60 sitting in my garage!

    Glad Volvo is giving the USA a performance wagon that nobody but AMG and Mercedes will give us... this will replace my E350 wagon. Kind of wish it had a DCT, but beggars cant be choosers. I'd get the VW golf R wagon (variant) but they aren't bringing us that car.... kinda like the GTD they never gave us either.

    Dude, a word of caution. If you happen to drive through Virginia, don't do speeds like that or you will get thrown in the pokey. 80 is considered reckless even if the limit is 70 and people have done jail time for 80+.

    Honestly, I'm not impressed with the V60 Polestar, or Polestars in general for that matter. It's wonderful having a healthy straight line speed and something to brag about to friends, but I feel that Volvo-Polestar's are always one or two steps behind their competition. At least to me, they don't bring enough to the table to merit considering one as a purchase, unless I could get a ridiculous deal on one.
    Edit; I applaud Volvo in the styling department for the C30 and S60 Polestar; they're very attractive in that blue of theirs.

    It’s not a V but a straight inline 6.
