At the shooting school I teach at we have tons of people from various background etc, and anyone who has had physical difficulties either strength or otherwise (shoulders, carpal, nerve issues, shakes from disease) ALL of them love and usually go buy one of these in any of the calibers and love it to death.

do you think a .38 special snub nose is also suitable to people with physical difficulties (context: my mom is probably going to amputate half of the left anelar finger, yes assassin's creed style haha, she broke the front half of the finger and for the last 3 months the finger is not healing so well, the nail has fallen 3 times and she has done 2 surgeries to it. I want her to protect herself... We also hike a lot so a revolver would be nice)

    • @daltongarrett7117
      @daltongarrett7117 3 ปีที่แล้ว

also your mom could accidentally load the 357 ammo and hurt herself she would likely be a bit pissed at that so the 38 is a good choice. .380 semiauto wouldn't be a bad choice either, maybe a 9mm or even a smaller caliber if the kick is too much from the 38. I hope she loves whatever you guys go with.

@@thecowboy6317 Which ever way she decides (I definitely recommend the auto) look at Buffalo bore’s hard cast line of Outdoorsman ammo. They are designed to protect against bad critters. Had a severe hand injury years ago, essentially had my hand taken off at the wrist...just bought this yesterday as my first gun, I struggled to rack other pistols simply because my functional grip was diminished so greatly by the injury due to the ulnar nerve being severed(table saw😖), the EZ made all this possible, I could pinch the back serrations and the extra last flare and easily operate the slide. A gun like this made an otherwise strong and capable guy like myself who has been (for defensive purposes)functionally reduced to one good hand able to defend myself, this gun goes beyond the scope of ‘weak’ , ‘women’ and ‘elderly’...the EZ gives back a strong defense and confidence to shoot again to those who have suffered hand injuries, both minor and severe, thanks for the great review🙏🏻

I'm trying to talk my mother into one of these, a relative is going with the old "you need you a .38 revolver" completely disregarding the fact that my mother has relatively weak wrists and not great finger strength, she'd struggle to pull the trigger, and if she managed to the gun would try to fly completely out of her hands.
They're super old school, like "I don't know why anyone would ever want a *plastic* gun" old school.
But they don't think no one should be able to have them, they just don't like them personally, they're in a weird place between a fudd and not fudd.

Main downside of the low slide weight is there isn't enough material to Mill an optics cut. The front sight post ring also comes from the factory loose which is why there are a lot of forum posts about accuracy

Working hands and sunlight exposure keeps you tough. Sitting at a computer in the AC for years will soften you. Its not EZ but keeps you in shape.

My wife has this in .380. She has been hit by two drunk drivers and has tried several handguns and this one works great for her. She can operate and shoot it no problems with her injuries.

I told my wife she could pick ANY gun she wanted to carry max price $1200
and she was eyeing the Kimber rose
Gold pistol. She tried all the more expensive pistols but she fell in love with this gun. I was not a S&W fan, but after having this pistol for a little over a year now we’ve bought two more S&W pistols and as a machinist for over 20 years I can tell you the build quality is excellent

I have this gun, the .380 Performance Center version. When they say EZ, it's not just marketing BS, it really is easy to operate. From loading the magazine, to racking the slide, to minimum recoil. This is a kitten of a handgun.
It's a good entry level gun for people who know nothing about guns or are scared of them. I know often time when people ask the question "what's a good first gun?", people will say "get a Glock". In my mind, the EZ is a good first gun. At the very least, this gun can have the external thumb safety. So that would give you the thumb and grip safety whereas Glock has neither.
For people who are intermediate or advance in their firearms experience, I'd recommend something without any kind of external safety. However for people who are beginners, I'd very much be hesitant to do so. The EZ is a great place to start for anyone.

Ive always been curious about the longevity of the springs and reliability of this gun with it being designed to have less spring tension and everything 🤷

My wife chose this in 380 we added after market sights, once you train on it very consistent groups at 25 yards. Wish she would have consulted me more before the purchase double stack would have been the way. She is small but can operate it quickly as a purse carry. STAY AWAY FROM P+ and most 95 gr. its rough on this little iron. Practice ammo from ammo inc 124 gr. best price option. Disassembly is super EZ havent had the issue eric describes. As a disabled old guy regular 9mm are getting harder to manipulate. Nerve damage and arthritis in hands. I have the 380 EZ and love it. Considering the 9mm EZ now. I know the time will come when manipulating my other 9mm pistols will be too hard but I will still be able to have a CCW I can handle and use as home defense. I do like my 44 mag lever gun for home defense as well. S&W did some good things for folks like me. Being able to have a CCW is very important to me. Thanks, S&W for thinking about folks like me with compromised hand and wrist strength. We are often seen as easy targets and this allows us to protect ourselves.

I know a person I have been giving free lessons to. She is disabled and has Hypotonia. She cannot rack the slide on even my most worn out pistol or manipulate the slide release. I'm gonna get one of these and let her try it. This nice lady is carrying a 6 shot 22 revolver for the time being. It's a mean cold world. I must upgrade her capabilities.

I keep trying all these new guns (shield, p365, hellcat, and so on), the latest is the ruger max9, I had to try it along with a miro red dot to see if i like a red dot on a pistol,,,well the gun does real good with or without the red dot,,,accuracy is real good and the gun has been flawless in about 500 rounds so far, I don't know if I like a red dot on a pistol yet but i'm leaning towards not,,,I just have a hard time warming up to any gun other than my G19 gen 5,,,,it's my first ever Glock because for years I've been more of a revolver guy and never liked anything Glock ever made,,,they always felt like plastic lousy trigger garbage in my hand,,,,but when I picked up and held this 19 things just "felt" better,,, the trigger for a Glock was/is really good it was just real smooth in action overall, even the grip felt not so bad to me (I have short wide hands so big grips and me don't normally get along very well),,,but that was a fair while ago and the only thing I've done to the gun is put XS big dot sights on it and I shoot it very well and it runs any ammo I put through it without a hickup (I know I'm well past the 1000 round mark with it and I can't remember a single malfunction of any kind with it )and just 2 days ago at the range it reminded me again why it is my go to gun,,,,when you can put 3 mags (45 rounds worth) into a group that can be covered with a 50 cent piece that is also perfectly centered in a 2 inch bullseye at 10 yards (something I manage to do more times than not with that gun) using even cheap plinking ammo and not even all the same ammo loaded in the 3 mags,,,well lets just say I gotta stay with what works,,,,I love shooting that gun at a range with lots of people around because somebody always sees those groups and looks at me looks at the group looks at me looks at the group and kinda does/gives that holy s--t look on their face LOL,,,some even just have to ask "what the hell did you do to that Glock to make it shoot like that,,to which I have to say "I don't have a freakin clue because other than the sights (the XS big dots that many think aren't supposed to be good for target accuracy)the thing is bone stock",,,,guess I'm just that good LOL,,,(NOT),,,,LOL,,,more like just got damn lucky and go and exceptionally good Glock (ya know the one that just talks to you when the salesman hands it to you to check out),,,as far as carrying i find it to be no more an issue than even the micro nines,,,most likely because of being a revolver guy and having carried things like my 686 3 inch or my model 69 with 2.750 inch barrel,,both of which are heavier and bulkier than the G19,,,,anyhow take care my friend and thanks for another great video.

I have the 380ez shield 2.0 and enjoy shooting it , edc and training friends to shoot. Tho it does have problems here and their. 1st my biggest problem with it. When training to speed load the gun 1/3 times I slam the mag in hard not crazy but obviously if you have to reload in a situation that mag needs to go in now the bullets pushs through the ears that hold the bullets in on all 4 mags I have I tried adjusting the ears but nothing changed. When this happens normally the slide will not go forward off the release and sometimes the slide will release buy its self have one bullet almost in the chamber and one coming out the mag witch will completely jam the gun and normally ill have to put the gun upside-down and play with the slide to drop the bullet out bc the mag will not come out unless you are able to get enough grip on it to real pull on it. When I slam a the mag in their and checked to see if the problem is happened I press the mag release and the mag starts to fall but stops bc the bullets pushing through the ears makes the mag swell and must yank it out. It does no matter how many bullets are in the mag. And normally operating of the gun off the slide release the slide sometimes won't take in forward enough to chambers in sometimes in stops then just pulls itself through after a second usual I tap the back of the slide when this happens usual when the guns pretty warm it happens and yes the gun is Whistle clean and lubed right
