We know Percy has four pearls and can save Sally BUT the previews for episode seven hint otherwise. Percy and Grover are arguing (Percy: “You guys leave” versus Grover: “What about you? Man, I really liked this episode! I think the actors are more comfortable in their roles, we can see a more fun Percy for example and a good chemistry between percabeth. I do think the episode was too short (as all the others) and it would benefit of more 20 minutes to develop the Casino situation a little better. But I think they worked well with the time they had. I love all the Olympians introduced in the series. They are all great actors playing deities.
I bet you anything they’re luring the audience into a false sense of security with the four pearls. One of them will probably be destroyed or fall into Tartarus, leaving them with only three.
I liked this episode, but I definitely have a few gripes. I find they’re doing a LOT of telling as opposed to showing, and since the episodes are so short they’re spending a lot of time just talking/info dumping? Like instead of having Percy go “it’s Thursday, we’ve been in the casino four days”, you have him see a storm outside and then he notices the date on a screen or something, and the audience realizes it with him? Or instead of Grover being like “guys I talked to the animals”, actually have a scene of him talking to the animals? I’m also a little confused why they keep having Annabeth figure out the traps beforehand? Medusa, Ares’ shield, now the casino. I get that she’s smart, but she still 12 and has never been in the real world, it’s totally plausible for her to fall for some of the traps! Percy’s the one who realizes the casino is a trap in the book, why change that?
I was positively surprised by Lin-Manuel's Hermes here. You can see the bitterness and hurt godly ego so clearly. The callback to the Nereid's message from Poseidon in ep 4 and then following it up with "It is very hard for a god to feel powerless." Oohhh that was a good line! Encapsulates very well how the gods struggle with being parents to mortal children. Once again I'm disappointed by how short this was. Showing Luke would have been a perfect opportunity to then show us what's happening back at Camp, connecting us to the place a little more and seeing how they're getting divided into opposing factions. That could have easily added at least 5 more minutes. And it would have been neat to see Percy finding people form past decades being stuck in the casino. Instead we have Percy explain to Annabeth the rest of the conversation with Hermes about the time passing outside and Grover, but why not show it? The second (not huge) issue I have with this is that even after the realization that it's already the day of the deadline they didn't seem to be in a rush to get out. After chasing a satyr they slowly walk up to Grover, try to explain the situation (I would have just grabbed him by the hand and RUUNNN) then slooowly walk around at the parking hall, have a casual conversation about Pan, then get in the car. This was definitely not the best episode but when the biggest problem with it was that I wanted more of it, I suppose things are looking pretty good 😂 I'm questioing the choice to have the Summer Solstice deadline passed already by the end of this episode. In the book they were *short* on time after the casino, not actually already out of time. We still need to go through Crusty's waterbed trap, which seems to be happening in broad daylight the next day (I'm pleased to see it in the show but the timing is the issue here), getting to the underworld, journeying through it, coming back to the beach via pearl bubble and fighting Ares, then flying back to NYC to return the bolt at the last minute in the evening? But that last minute has already passed 24h ago by that point and Zeus wouldn't hesitate to blow Percy out of the sky if he has already started the war with Poseidon. So i don't know where they are going with this. It will either be answered in the next 2 episodes or it's an uncharacteristic mistake that didn't need to be there. But I won't pin it as a flaw on this episode quite yet. I'll just.. remain confused for the next week, maybe two.

@@drishti8822 Yes. He's been stewing in that pit of Tartarus for thousands of years. But gods and titans can't die so he still has a consciousness and can exert his influence in the word. By talking to people in dreams for example 😉
Some things an are changed in this episode but as Rick Riordan said, in the books there is more room to explore and expand whereas in a series not so much
Ok, first off, there was only 3 pearls in the book and also Percy did not miss the deadline. If I didn't know the author was working on the show, I wouldn't have believed it with this episode
I don’t think Percy missing the deadline changes anything that drastically from the book, if anything it just ups the stakes. Also giving Percy four pearls lures the audience into a false sense of security and makes it more of an emotional gut punch when one of them inevitably gets destroyed or falls into Tartarus. Trust the process.
I really liked this episode, but I have a few problems with this episode. I feel like they're just telling us everything about Luke and his family and just generally stuff that we should find out in the fifth season (stuff that was revealed in the fifth book). I feel like the stuff they're already revealing is the stuff I liked most about the fifth book. I now fear that in the fifth season, they won't have enough "story" to tell.
They literally only dropped a few lines about May Castellan and Luke? There's still a lot of room for them to go through Luke's backstory in the fifth season.
I love that they are doing it early on. We need to feel sympathetic towards him and his decisions. How are we gonna if we don't know anything about him. I wanted to know about him little by little in all the books and not just in the last one where he died.
@@lusinebaghyan8864 I personally liked the mystery. It makes you want to keep going. It makes you curious and think. And when you *finally* find out after so much mystery, it feels rewarding to gain that knowledge
But it's important for non book readers to have a little bit of knowledge on Luke's backstory instead of it all being dumped in season 5 when there's much more stuff happening. @@Atrulion
Weird nit pick but in this show i notice they say "yes." Alot.. like i know that sounds weird for me to point out but it feels so forced everyone just going "yes" instead of "yeah" or something and they always say it in a really intense robot way haha. Maybe its cultural im from australia and people rarely just say yes its always a yeah or something. Like it was written as yes in the script and the actors couldnt change it even if it feels forced and weird to say
Not just yes. Sometimes the barrage of thats. And the rapid times short sentences are said in quick succession for exposition. I’ve never read the books; I’m not judging. I just saw it a bit more in this episode than others.
It hasn't bothered me at all, I personally haven't caught anything in the dialogue that feels unnatural or forced yet (Except maybe Sally making Grover promise he will protect Percy in episode 1) And I'm fairly certain I've heard a bunch of yeahs here and there. What I struggle with more is that the kids don't always annunciate their lines very clearly and sometimes they either aren't projecting their voice at all or the mic isn't placed right. Mostly the delivery is fine but for example Grover's "Really? Because of me?" in the parking hall was so quick and mumbly that without subtitles I had to replay it a couple times to understand what he said
@@Edward-W Ah. I can see that. It didn’t really bother me, it was just something I noticed that felt like a way of just saying a lot of exposition. I’m not one of those people who vehemently hate things for no reason, but it caught my attention and wasn’t something I expected. Again, no judgement, I kind of don’t have say because I haven’t read the books. But for someone who hasn’t read it and found the dialogue a little weirdly structured, I wanted to see if others noticed it. I do understand, however, it was quite a short episode so adjustments have to be made according to time constraints.
from what i notice i think its mostly annabeth saying "yes" which i think fits with her character to try and do things the "correct" way instead of just whats easiest. and correct me if im wrong but i wanna say percy says "yeah" sometimes which also fits with his character
@@magix6782 I think you're right! It has been mainly Annabeth saying "yes" in a very pointed manner. That's likely why it stands out to someone watching because she says it with an emphasis to kind of imply different tones like "Yes. Period. The discussion is over" or " Yes. You understood my point correctly" or "Yes. And? Anything you want to disagree with?" The other character's haven't said it that deliberately.
OK I liked this episode but I thought that it needed to be a little bit longer, I wanted more in the lotus casino, as well as the three sisters in the car. Also, the summer solstice already being passed through me for a loop that I wasn’t ready for it and I’m not sure I like.
Also wish it was longer! The three sisters in the car is a s2 thing, no? Abt the summer solstice and the war already starting, I wonder if they did this not only to delay Percy's meeting with his dad, but also to show that once Poseidon and Zeus know about something... bigger in the works, they'll realize their war is stupid on the long run and that there's a way worse foe ahead of both of them
Nico and Bianca di Angelo, the children of Hades. Nico's a very major character in the later books, but they don't appear in person until book 3. Basically, during World War II, the Oracle of Delphi made the Great Prophecy, the one that had caused the Big Three to swear off ever having any more kids. Zeus and Poseidon's children were all presumably either dead or over the age specified in the prophecy, but Nico and Bianca weren't so Zeus tried to kill them. They survived, but their mother didn't, so Hades cursed the Oracle in revenge (hence why she's a mummy now) and had Alecto wipe Nico and Bianca's memories and hide them in the Lotus Casino. That kept them safe until Hades has them released by Alecto in the third book.
Them showing Nico was literally the ONE thing I wanted fixed most….. and I still didn’t get to see my baby. For me it was a HUGE personal let down. I mean, I get it if they wanted to wait to show him in case his actor needed to be changed by season 3, but still. It’s ALL I wanted. Nico Di’Angelo meant a lot to me as a kid reading these books, & he still very much does. My first snap account was legit called “Death_Girl” cause of him. Poker face no longer being the casino song is also a new heartbreak. It became iconic 😔 I’m still absolutely loving this show, I just feel Nico wouldn’t have been a hard add on to the ep. As long as hits the plot points, it's fine. The entirety of the show isn't out yet and there's a reason why he has 4 pearls while Percy still decides to stay back. He is going to lose one of them. Let it play out
Disney issued an 8-episode season for a book written in first person pov (and Rick saw the money and fell for it obv). That tells you everything you need to know 😂 You can't expect any higher Just enjoy what you can, a faithful adaptation isn't coming anytime soon. I'm blaming the movies, they set the bar too low and anything even mildly better than them, the fandom will celebrate and use as a talking point to incinerate anyone who dislikes the changes
@@Sree5Kanth Literally just let the story play out. He will lose one of the pearls cuz he's choosing to stay behind in the underworld If u don't like the show, cool but overall it is a faithful adaption. Faithful adaptions doesn't mean being 1 to 1
Small changes in details that differ from the books aren't "Breaking the plot" fyi. Breaking the plot would mean doing something that makes absolutely no sense within the story and makes every subsequent event nonsensical. An unnatural continuation to what happened before, like a breaking of previously established in-world rules, a character making a plot-altering decision that they wouldn't have made based on their characterization and circumstances, or things happening in a way that doesn't make sense in general. This adaptation has been wonderfully faithful so far. That doesn't mean changes aren't allowed. Rick is literally the one in the writing staff that's allowing and making these changes to explore different possibilities and emphasize different themes and character traits. The characters are the same characters. The plot is the same plot, with some added elements and tweaks. Most of the changes have been beneficial to the story in ways that copying 1 to 1 from the page wouldn't have come close to achieving.

He was also the only other god apart from Hades who was allowed to enter the Underworld since he was the one who took the spirits of those who died there.
i love seeing the last olympian crumbs❤
Lin Manuel Miranda is great as Hermes. I really like his acting here
at 9:11 in this video you can hear a little kid shout bianca !
Yeah it's about 12 and a half minutes into the episode itself
Levitating used to be my favourite song when I was 10 😂
This makes me feel super old
How old are you now????😭
Didn't it come out like... a year ago?? 💀
I’m sorry…10?!
@@Edward-W It came out around 4 -3 years ago
0:57 my theory is that this is Kronos
That's what she said. But... I'm assuming you haven't read the books?
But isn't Kronos cut into a million pieces
@@drishti8822 Yes. He's been stewing in that pit of Tartarus for thousands of years. But gods and titans can't die so he still has a consciousness and can exert his influence in the word. By talking to people in dreams for example 😉
I really like the design of the nereides :)
I think the fact that Poseidon is trying to show he cares is what stops Percy from siding with Kronos.
I know that the guys have absolutely no interest in their forbidden children but I love that Poseidon cares for him
at 8:30 you can see two kids in the same purple t-shirt run by! camp jupiter demigods?!
Definitely possible
I ALSO THOUGHT HE LOOKED LIKE MARK HAMILL
Another solid episode.
Enjoyed Lin-Manuel Miranda as Hermes too.
Love that they are easing us into Luke backstory this early!
Some things an are changed in this episode but as Rick Riordan said, in the books there is more room to explore and expand whereas in a series not so much
WAIT ITS OUT ? Damon I thought it was next week lmao. Well, off to watch it and i’ll come back here afterwards
Every week it comes out
These short episodes are KILLING ME 😭
You're talking about short episode when I just finished episode 8 last night and I'm dying for season 2 somebody please get it started season 2!!!
OMG Episode 6 is my favourite episode. Also could you react to the new 5 second season 2 trailer
You look like the water sprit I mean that as a compliment lol
I loved Lin Manuel Miranda as Hermes!! I think the casting for the show was perfect!!
Dude! Luke freaking out
May Castellan 😭
My cousin doesn't understand the significance of seaweed brain and wise girl
The last 2 episodes better be 40+ minutes long tbf 😒
Ok, first off, there was only 3 pearls in the book and also Percy did not miss the deadline. If I didn't know the author was working on the show, I wouldn't have believed it with this episode
I don’t think Percy missing the deadline changes anything that drastically from the book, if anything it just ups the stakes. Also giving Percy four pearls lures the audience into a false sense of security and makes it more of an emotional gut punch when one of them inevitably gets destroyed or falls into Tartarus. Trust the process.
@@loveandwar007yeah the prophesy is the same so I think they will lose the 4th one and they'll need to decide who gets to stay behind.
Didn't know this was pro dancer reacts to percy jackson
@@Georgiaaara Those few lines were too much. I'd rather just wait until season 5 for it. Most of those lines were my favorite part about book 5.
@@Atrulion
My only disappointment is the no talking to Zebra.
In the episode at 18:27 I thought I saw Bianca and Nico
It be your faces lol like your face says it all lol
HAVE YOU READ THE BOOKS? IF YOU HAVEN'T...I-
I love your accent, cam! What state are you from?
Cam the you know what ❤
Weird nit pick but in this show i notice they say "yes." Alot.. like i know that sounds weird for me to point out but it feels so forced everyone just going "yes" instead of "yeah" or something and they always say it in a really intense robot way haha.
Abt the summer solstice and the war already starting, I wonder if they did this not only to delay Percy's meeting with his dad, but also to show that once Poseidon and Zeus know about something... bigger in the works, they'll realize their war is stupid on the long run and that there's a way worse foe ahead of both of them
if you mean the three sisters that are constantly fighting over an eye (and everything else), they don't appear in the first book.
@@ser132 ah yes my bad wrong book😭
This was the episode i think i wanted most like the book but it was the least. Idk im wondering where the 15mil per episode is going.
I like the series but somehow it felt lifeless at times I don't know why.
Can someone please explain to me the Nico and Bianca thing couse i’m new to the fandom
They are two imp characters in the later books. It was an Easter egg. Telling more would give away too much
Nico and Bianca di Angelo, the children of Hades. That kept them safe until Hades has them released by Alecto in the third book.
i’m too mf early
🔥🔥🔥🔥
Them showing Nico was literally the ONE thing I wanted fixed most….. and I still didn’t get to see my baby. For me it was a HUGE personal let down. I mean, I get it if they wanted to wait to show him in case his actor needed to be changed by season 3, but still. It’s ALL I wanted. Nico Di’Angelo meant a lot to me as a kid reading these books, & he still very much does. My first snap account was legit called “Death_Girl” cause of him.
Poker face no longer being the casino song is also a new heartbreak. It became iconic 😔
I’m still absolutely loving this show, I just feel Nico wouldn’t have been a hard add on to the ep. A quick 30sec-1min convo could’ve fit
You can hear him yel Bianca in the background
@@that_lucky_bastard1021they should've made it a bit more obvious tbh like a name on a high score sheet or something, at least let him speak when grover is silent
@@Sree5Kanth imo it didn't have to be that obvious. What they did was fine, the foreshadowing doesn't have to be centre stage
@@ethanaurora9580 i mean... After the third season comes around, when people who do rewatches re-watch the first season, if it was a bit more obvious, an easter egg of such sort would've been of some good value. Now they're not gonna notice anything at all unless someone points it out for them and they imagine really hard of themselves hearing it
@@Sree5Kanth hmm as for your last sentence, I'd have to go back and see how loud it exactly was, and ig the volume depends on person to person as well, for some it might be more softer than others
💙💙💙
They spoiled book 5 then change the plot 😢
How?
Not really a spoiler, just establishing things earlier. And what do you mean by changing the plot?
The show isn't done yet. They're aren't changing the plot over Percy getting 4 pearls which he still lose one of them cuz he stays in the underworld
Okay, so "changing the plot" is not the best word to describe it. English is hard so let's hope some random human will be able to put it in words better.
@pauldino3331 well what were you trying to say?
Why I feel like it’s just become boring and boring. Boring boring
Book version of Casino was better.
early
Crazy how ppl can watch as the show breaks the plot then be like, omg guys, it was so good
If it's true to the characters and the main plot points are hit, I'm fine with it :)
They said they would be adding some stuff:)
That tells you everything you need to know 😂 You can't expect any higher
Just enjoy what you can, a faithful adaptation isn't coming anytime soon. I'm blaming the movies, they set the bar too low and anything even mildly better than them, the fandom will celebrate and use as a talking point to incinerate anyone who dislikes the changes
@@Sree5Kanth Literally just let the story play out. He will lose one of the pearls cuz he's choosing to stay behind in the underworld
If u don't like the show, cool but overall it is a faithful adaption.
