What memories you have brought back for me. I did the exact same route in a day some years back now. Probably my longest day out in all the forty plus years I have been hill walking. Never was the chip shop in Aviemore been so welcome.

Tough day but so worth the effort. I'd consider the Durston as you mentioned a trekking pole tent. Nice and light and has never let me down. Great video, thanks for sharing 😁

It's great to see this route as I walked it in pretty much zero visibility! I did it in one day from the Sugar Bowl to Corrour then up and over. 14hrs 25mins (30min stop at the Bothy). You can bypass the Chalamain Gap by going up to your right on the way out and left on your way back.

Wow... that's a long way to go in Zero Visibility?! Great effort doing it in one day. We did pass a lot of people doing it in one day, but I felt like an overnight was the perfect way to break up such a long walk. Thanks for watching pal :)

@@calumpaterson123 It was a little disheartening, and wet, definitely type 2 fun! My Guide was pretty impressed at my endurance and I still have a massive sense of achievement! I love watching what I missed!!!

Cheers Kev! Any recommendations or tips with the Lanshans? I've watched loads of videos on them, and folk seem to have loads of little modifications that they do.

@@calumpaterson123 Aye seen loads of vids anaw. I've no really done any to mine. Seam sealed the stitching & that's about it. I've no used ma Lanshan 1 much these days. Prefer ma pyramid tent. More space in the vestibule. I was eyeing up Astra tents from Ali express. I do like a trekking pole/Pyramid Tent. Always good in the wind & usually lightweight too.

@@calumpaterson123 Hexpeak look nobad. And that Asta tent from Ali express could be ma next purchase. If I had the money then Duomid tent would be on the list

@@Moffatmountainadventures It was a weekend, and the weather was great... so I guess everyone was taking their opportunity, like we did. Still though... loads of folk on the traverse, ha!

Would it be easier, do you think, to travel light and complete it in a day? Walk Highlands suggests it's a 13 hour walk and 6,000ft of ascent, which might be beyond my limit for one day, especially with all the rough terrain, but the thought of carrying wild camping gear over that distance and amount of ascent seems even worse to me. Well done for completing it. As you say, epic!

It would most definitely be easier to go light, and not carry all your camping gear. I think we could have done it in one day, if we went lightweight. It would have still been a mammoth day however, and having a night-out in such a fantastic location was such a special thing to do. Thanks for watching pal :)
