  • A test ride/review of a 2005 Suzuki GSX 1400 prior to possibly adding one to the stable. I'm also retrying the DJI Action 4/wireless mic combination. I think now the gain is a little high another little tweak should get the audio spot on.
If you watch the video you will see all didn't go well with the bike I had for testing. Shortly into the ride a fuelling issue arose, the bike stuttered and spluttered. Initially I thought it was rider error, being in too high a great for the speed I was maintaining. Later it became clear the issue was much deeper than that and I suspected dirt in the fuel system.
Upon returning to the dealer the mechanic checked the bike over, it turned out to be a faulty spark plug. The bike having been owned by a collector had layed too long without being ridden. Still you would have thought the dealership would have given it a good service and check over. Rather than just a short ride in which the issue never arose for them.
They've invited me to try it again, which I might do as I am interested in possibly purchasing one. Let's just say my faith in that particular bike and dealership has been dashed. Thanks for watching, please leave a comment, ask questions and give feedback. At least the Autumn colours shone, even if the bike didn't. I expected to be riding a thoroughbred stallion, instead I got a three legged pony ☹️

Well you picked the perfect day to test ride this bad boy! 😁 sounds glorious and clearly no slouch, built for lots of very naughty fun, but definitely would need the fuelling sorted😉 You have nailed the audio, the balance between the engine and your voice is pretty much equalised as well as the wind noise. It's a pity I got bogged down with traffic and that the bike dropped to three cylinders at some point. I'll try the bike again tomorrow if weather permits, I may also see what else I can try when I'm there. Thanks for the great feedback 😊👍

Good evening. The video quality is very good along with the audio. a nice setup. You may have had traffic but the weather and locastion makes up for that. More time to enjoy the scenery as it flies past. It's a shame you didn't have a reliable full test of the motorbike. Thanks for sharing for all to enjoy. Cheers

Yes I really was lucky to get such weather and the views were indeed pleasing to the eye. I was interested to own if not this bike one like it. Sadly a dodgy spark plug spoiled my first impressions as well as my faith in the dealership. Sadly the same set up doesn't perform as well on other bikes, adding a screen can create wind around the helmet which is detrimental to audio quality.

@@besenwieslersepp1011 Thank you very much for watching and your helpful advice. The dealership mechanic discovered that the bike was running on three cylinders due to a bad spark plug. If we can get a dry day I'll try the bike again. Thanks for the advice about the forks. I'm also wondering if the bike had a soft front tyre, which would have added to the soft front end feel. Also I noticed it was hard to steer, which would be the case if the tyre was soft. I found out the bike belonged to a collector, it's last MOT ( vehicle safety check) was in 2018. The Problem with the seat position is not your body is leaned foreword, your legs are pointing to far back! The footrests are to high and to far rear. So all the weight of your legs do not rest on the footrest, the weight of your legs puts pressure on your butt. The seat ist comfortable, but after a few hours it hurts.
I lowered the footrests by 27 mm, which helps a little.

For sheer open road fun nothing beats the ZZR, the Rocket comes close but the ZZR picks up where the Rocket left off.
