    In this episode I create some really cool modular, Egyptian themed, desert terrain. Can work well for TTRPGs like Dungeons & Dragons or Wargaming like Age of Sigmar. Could be used with battle mat or dungeon tiles.

      Now I need a 3d printer. Been wanting one so bad.... I'm wait until they're more user friendly, I'm not a tech head and all the ones I've seen are way to complicated on the tech end. I have a brother scan-n-cut, all it does is cut paper/vinyl/fabric, and that thing took me forever to get right. If I cant fix it with a hammer it's too techy for me LOL how often do you actually use the one you have? I wouldn't mind getting a glowforge tho, but I'd have to take out a loan for one of those 😆.

    • @dungeonmatron6027
      @dungeonmatron6027 3 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      I agree! Keep the minis on their bases and incorporate the base into the bass relief design. Magnetize them or use some sort of temporary adhesive to keep them in place. Then pop those badasses out to attack player characters!

    • @bigbrowntau
      @bigbrowntau 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@alexbarrett3832 Yeah, it'd be so simple to put in a magnet, or even just cut a slot deep enough to hold their base. Maybe put them on square bases, and make them look like they're standing on a shelf attached to the stonework. Use a couple of mini's and bases to have some "blank" spots on the walls too.

    Those look awesome. Ancient Egypt is endlessly fascinating, and desert storms still reveal sites thought lost to history. The great thing about Egyptian ruins, is that they DID build secret chambers, and they DID put unpleasant traps in their tombs, like 'bottomless' pits - the early Egyptologist Belzoni found one in an excavated tomb, early in his career, his strength and agility (he had been a circus strong man) saving him from an unpleasant death. Ancient Egypt has to be the most flexible RPG scenario of all.
    Then, of course, you have the short story that H.P. Lovecraft wrote for Harry Houdini: 'Imprisoned With The Pharaohs'. Definitely full of ideas, that one.

    So, fun fact, since limestone is actually the calcified remains of ancient sea creatures, meaning that it is quite porous, that bubbling and melting effect is actually a very realistic duplication of how real limestone would weather and break down when exposed to the blistering heat and wind-blown sand of a scorching desert.

I had actually thought the mini's you sunk in the walls were going to jump out in the intro video as living sculptures so maybe a mod to add would be a magnet or securing pin thing and keep them all playable. BTW I was listening to Distorted Memory for the first time in ages yesterday and it transported me back to a simpler time of pleather skirts and studded collars before I discovered what a drag adulting would be, was a very welcome escape.

  • @wyvern876
    @wyvern876 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    If there was a way to non-permanently secure the minis into the wall, I could see a cool mechanic for these areas being the statues acting like ancient temple guardians who peel themselves off the walls to attack intruders. No idea how you could secure them in the walls in such a way that you could still remove them, and that they still look authentic to the build, but that was the first thing I thought of when I saw you used minis for decoration.

    I really missed this kind of video, where you talk us through your thought process, the difficulties you faced, how you recovered. I found this much more enjoyable to watch than when you did your Torment set (not that those terrain pieces aren't any less awesome). I think my only critique would be that I'd probably try to carve alcoves for those statues instead of melting them into the foam to look like carvings I think you'd be better off doing carvings with that texturing method you learned with pencils. But they still turned out great.

    Another great video, I love the fact that you're adding new things, techniques and approaches and looks, to the videos. Keeps it exciting and fresh.
