Ever run across a 19th C Scottish painter named David Roberts? He toured Egypt and the Near East and painted the ruins just emerging from Egypt’s sand. th-cam.com/video/DISOQ5L6Z5c/w-d-xo.html
Man, I was watching this while focusing on some grading and I was answering points before you'd say them. Such as, when you were mentioning the cartouche, I said "It's called a cartouche." when you were describing its shapes. Gotta say; you did your research well. I'm a history teacher and if I had it within my schedule this semester I'd love to do a project like this with my students and use your video as an inspiration to get started. This is fantastic! I rewatched it after I finished it to pay closer attention to your hard efforts. Well done, as always!
@@EricsHobbyWorkshop You sure did! I'd love to see you take a jab at other ancient themes. Your hieroglyphics were really clean, too. Usually, hieroglyphics are read right to left, top to bottom - however, the language can be written both directions. The figures face the direction in which it is written, which yours did! Awesome stuff, man!

I've done a similar build on a smaller scale. Printed out the statues from 'Scan The World' on my Elegoo mars, and used the foam the printer came packed in to make the surrounding stonework. It felt a fitting use for material that might otherwise go in the bin !
I've noticed you like to do research into the cultures you're creating scenery for. So I always learn something new. Those canyons would make for a great western themed canyon or something. Excellent work as always.
You 're so good at this game... This project (as many others of yours) breathes with passion. I find the final result stunning and can't wait to see what you will do whith the inside of the tomb! Cheers Eric!
I recently started building table top terrain, about 6 months ago and man your skills blows me away! I've learned a LOT from watching your videos, like cutting individual bricks and gluing them onto my building's for example. Thanks for all your work and I look forward to seeing more. I also thought to add some runes to one of my builds and looked up ancient druid runes but I hand painted them on, not nearly to the extent that you did hear lol but it definitely added a bit to the build. I'm definitely going to give that pen a try. Thanks again!
First; just let me congratulate you on a really nice build! Then allow me to express my awe at that great rock carving technique: WOW! Really a fantastic build man. I look forward to the interior!
It looks amazing. The best part came as I was imagining different ways for how you would print the hieroglyphics and combine them with the piece - then you hand drew them. Damn. Lots of good advice in this video too.
Eric, you are awesome. A true Master of terrain building. Beautiful piece that looks realistic. I hope that the Pharoh has lots of treasure and maybe some pets, servants or bodyguards who remained to travel with him into the afterlife.
holy moly you saved me a lot of time in the futre. i am curenty working on some sediment stone terain for my 40k table. i also started by cuting horizontal lines in the foam, but then like a foll i chip away small bits of foam with a screwdriver and it has taken my so many hours up to this point of time that i paused the projeck allready several times. Now this is just the content I needed to brighten this otherwise gloomy and sleepy day. Excelent work, and very inspiring. I'm a fan of ancient civs and their ruins as well, during my teen days, when fascination with drawing pseudo-DnD maps came to our school community, I loved to draw maps of ancient tombs and ruined cities (not to mention this was a one of the starter points of forming my own afterlife philosophy), and I think it is not a bad idea to return to that in current phase of my life, so thank you for inspiration, and looking forward for interior-making video. Also, you mentioned an interesting part of Egyptian mythology - I didn't know until now that Horus and Set eventually reconciled, I thought they remained eternal enemies. This proves that most of mythologies were not at all unified and there was no such thing as "canon", and many different groups or even individuals of same culture had their distincive views of many aspects of their mythology (in case of Egyptian mythology, I find most diversity in case of fate of those unfortunate enough to have their hearts devoured by Ammut during last judgement - personally, I'm big fan of "reincarnation" theory). All hail to pharaoh Erichothep the Builder!
