Honestly, at first glance I thought you had actually carved the skulls out of the foam and was ready to pass on this due to my lack of sculpting skills. That effect is so seamless it is unreal.

These are almost too good to be tabletop terrain! They legitimately look like scale photo realistic miniatures. I could see an entire Indiana Jones-themed diorama in this style.
Fantastic result, artistic process, and a cheeky Duchess hiding in the back. What's not to love?! Nice build, Jeremy. You struck a perfect middle ground.
I will find the courage to paint her one day!

You really nailed a 'Ray Harryhausen' look with your pieces here. I am incredibly impressed at the simplicity of the build, the texture of the model, and the sublime consistency of the pint job. These are why we keep coming back, and probably why you keep doing this.

Love, love, love these! I'll definitely be trying to recreate something similar. That being said, my favorite part of the video is just seeing how excited Jeremy is about the terrain. Seeing him branch out more, use an airbrush, feel confident and get excited about the project makes the video that much more enjoyable to watch.

So, with the last build and this one, are you kind of hinting that you're planning for Ghost Archipelago in the near future to expand Frostgrave stuff?
I'm only at 1:33, but want to let you know that those exact flaws are what make your videos relatable to everyone. We love seeing the flaws, the choices, the sacrifices, it's part of what every one of us is going to experience, so it's nice to see it happen within the learning process. Perfection does not equal inspiration.
I love the ancient forest ruin look these give. They would put my potential player character a reason to be paranoid about what carved them and if they are still around. (Perception check)(and I rolled a 1)
I'd go a step farther and say that this is my favorite build you've done full stop. These look absolutely fantastic! I'd love to give this one a try!
The textured forehead of the skull was a stroke of genius and really sells whole the look. Nice work!
If 100s of thousands of people didn’t think your painting was good enough 100s of thousands of us wouldn’t keep watching your videos over and over. They look amazing.
Oooh. I wonder what different kind of these you could make. My campaign i could imagine large skulls but with an astral/galaxy theme to it. Galactic moss? The eyes painted with black and stars in it?
MAYBE a hell scape! Scorched skulls with ember eyes and flames.
Icy skulls, in a frozen landscape, incased in impermeable ice.
UgH! So much potential.
galactic slime. or alien guts. or alien foliage of any kind :D
just as a note, those skull shaped ice-cube molds work great with plaster-of-paris, and this blend in really well with things like Sculptamold etc. (and you can make as many skulls as you need).
Im really glad airbrushing is something you've grown to appreciate. Your work as always is fantastic.

They turned out really great! They would also make cool book ends or Salt & Pepper shakers !! Next build: A massive Dragon loot cavern, full of Gold!! Get at it!!
These sort of smaller and achievable projects for people with less time are excellent videos as they make accessible projects when stuck at home with your kids.
I think "effective" is the perfect word for these. They're eye-catching, yet not over the top. Well done! :)
I really like the little touch that the flock and growth was in the eye of the one skull. It just looks like something growing out of the skull.
Dude! These things are sweet! As a guy who loves crafting, but has limited time on his hands, quick things like this just make me super excited to sit at the table and build again.
I can just imagine these as like two sides of an entrance-way into some kind of abandoned temple (that turns out to be not so abandoned)
Or part of some geographical clue like "head north till you reach the skulls carved in stone, then head...."
The Githyanki on the cover of that Fiend Folio brings back a lot of old memories.
For whatever reason, this one just clicked with me. I've been avoiding finishing the shingles on a house I'm making for weeks, but this...I had the materials, so I just decided to do it, and here we are! Paste is drying, but I'm really thrilled to have gone from idea to physical artifact just like that. Maybe I'll get it fully painted by tomorrow night!

I agree, this is some of your best work. The mossy, moist and dark atmosphere and realistic stonework is perfect!
local dollar stores and holiday (especially Halloween themed) party stores are great sources of cheap bags of scatter bits. For "jewelry bits" to play with for re-purposing, I suggest thrift stores and their bags of broken junk. I would also suggest yard sales, but those aren't happening as much or at all these days... I really do love seeing how incredibly creative these builds are.
These are incredible! I can imagine some kind of variant of this as a sort of skull-shaped coral reef for an aquatic campaign. Really inspirational!
they look great, and seem like the type of scatter that you can use in a lot of spaces. I think a lot of people get stuck on wanting to make large, majestic, heavily themed set pieces that work in maybe 1-2 encounters rather than versatile small ones that they can reuse over and over again (lol I've fallen into this hole on more than one occasion).
I've had a bunch of these skulls in various sizes, sitting around in bins for YEARS! Very niiice!

These are great because they are versatile. They could fit into a jungle, dungeon, arcane, or other theme. Good thing they're durable enough to be used over and over!

This is two weeks of Ghost Archipelago looking terrain. You really should do a table for it! Pirates and snakemen, what’s not to love?

With the angles you put the skulls at, they look like they were originally two sides of an arch that has since collapsed-they'd work great as an entryway to a ruined jungle temple, or something. Very nice!
Tip: if you are ever working from a top of something you don't want to dry out but don't want the hassle of closing the lid all the time, use a damp sponge as a temporary lid. Can remove instantly and the dampness can even undo some unwanted dryness. It's like an upside down wet pallete.
These look fantastic. The sculpt, and painting are top notch. I could see an entire game/terrain project with these. Make a bunch of different sizes, a skull Canyon would be amazing.
These are amazing. They remind me of the kind of stuff Disney Imagineers would populate rides like The Jungle Cruise with. I got a huge hit of nostalgia from this.
I’m liking these. Would make for a cool pirate themed rocky bay out on the water warding off any unwelcome visitors.

I love the look of these so much! The idea is so simple and yet so brilliant, and it uses techniques that I could apply even without access to craft foam. I'd love to see more like this!
Both of those look totally BadASS!!! I also think that they will fit in with jungle, spooky forest and old forgotten ruins settings pretty perfectly.

I can hear the passion in your voice when you talk about them. They look amazing and there are times I look at my painted minis and see that sometimes the simpler pieces just attract me more than other harder worked ones. I love your portals and water terrain the most.

You make some of the nicest and "organized" builds I've seen. There's some terrain makers that just slap things together and they look good in a pinch on the table, but you're makes them look messy. I love your builds and at some point, I'm going to sit down and start making terrain and using a lot of the techniques you've taught us.
I've been thinking of making a mini castle grayskull to go with my collectables and this has given me a lot of great ideas. I thank you immensely. They came out amazing by the way.

These will nicely pair up with the Shrine of the Snake you built last time too
Paper clay also works wonders for this kind of thing. It does shrink a little, but you can dilute it and get a VERY nice surface texture on plastic parts for the transition.

I completely agree with your assessment that these are really freaking cool.
I can also imagine that this would work with a lot of other plastic trinkets to illustrate carved faces and features on stone. As is, these would be PERFECT for Age of Sigmar, where there's TWO factions whose whole thing is skulls!
As people have said, these would be great for Ghost Archipelago, but go the other way, cover them in snow flock and they'd work just as well for Frostgrave. Nice build dude!

They look really organic, natural and awesome. Only thing I would add is some different colored vine growth, possibly something flowering.
This is absolutely insane. You can paint them up so many different ways, to fit whatever theme. I've watched you for the better part of a year or two and you've helped me gain so much confidence in my craft, I'm considering starting a channel of my own. You're seriously one of my biggest inspirations
Wonderful example of "less is more" with these pieces. Nothing too intense, too detailed. It just works.
Also, loved your monster/alien egg video. For another recommendation when it comes to crafting eggs, say a cluster inside of a hive of sorts, or attached to a pillar in different shapes and patterns, is pistachio nut shells. They get this weird, alien or creepy look of being a mixture of a barnacle and eggs when painted and arranged into clumps snaking along a pillar or growing on mounds. And the surface texture of the shells can get this weird leathery tone if painted right. Add some slime/mucus for the most delici- Horrific insect hive of your tabletop. Honest.
