- A short film made for Adult Swim's "Off The Air". It's about a Trolval, one of the recurring sea monster motifs found on medieval maps, generally in the uncharted spots that might be full of strange things that kill you. Here in Australia was one such spot, and the Western world still seems to view our wildlife much the same.

I found it so wholesome that the humans kept trying to help this creature. Even when it was deliberately dragging itself away from the water and it was clear that it didn't need water, they still tried to keep it wet to help it.
I don't think they were trying to help it. Rather, I think they were trying to keep it in the ocean where it can't disrupt their lives any further.

I've always appreciated this film for its considerate view of humanity. In most stories like these the humans are always trying to kill the monster, or scared of it, or whatever. I like that everyone is trying to help in their own way.
The compassion, love, and dedication to help is significantly strong in this film. I don't see the Trolval as a scary evil monster, but a living work of art.

I think he said it somewhere, I remember it. but one thing I just noticed, I just finished rewatching Double King, and when there's that shot of the jungle right after he climbs to the mountain, you can hear that obnoxious bird whose name I don't remember that is very common in Australia; either he recorded it outside his house or it's a clever nod, super cool

Despite how weird and quirky the Trolval is, the humans we're kind enough to help and give him lots of love! It's been many years since I've seen this strangely beautiful masterpiece and today, I finally gained the motivation to comment about it.
I think its more of the selfish part of us since they did a Lot to help him even when he didnt need help Just for them tô feel good but when the sealgul was dying they didnt care

For those that didn't catch it: The Trolval is an allegory for mass tourism, destroying the very place they come to see, while relying on the help of its inhabitants.

I love this. Such a unique story, such great timing, such a great art style. I love the police car, the one guy who goes back to the ocean for a bucket of water, the way the guy's head obscures the beached creature in the first scene, and the way the shop owner keeps reading the news after getting treasure dumped on the floor. Keep it up.

I appreciate so many little details in this. The combination of animation styles, the music for particular scenes that set a mood, the sound effects like his scales falling off, and it sounds so hot outside, and the scales look like artichoke pieces, and ...I could go on forever.

I think I have a good theory of what's happening in this film, and what Felix is trying to say:
Really, the film is a metaphor for a large creature that beaches itself and takes a trip to a convenience store. We see this evidenced by the large creature that beaches itself, and then takes a trip to a convenience store. Much like a bird that swallows sea litter and dies, so too, in the end, does a bird swallow some sea litter and die. There's a lot to unpack, and obviously a lot of layers, but overall a mastery of symbolism at work here.

This is a video with some powerful messages. We've been dumping so much crap into the ocean that even the deep water life has now gotten addicted to chips and candy and is literally risking life to come up to the surface and get 'supplies'. And how the 7/11 owner has sold a ton of junk food for exotic treasure basically but still can't stop reading the 'man unhappy' daily. Just great creativity.
Maybe the real dry run was the friends we made along the way.

I think everything Felix has produced has been more than just entertainment, but intimate and impressive storytelling mixed with epic illustration and sound design.
