I remember 20 years ago you had to sit through extremely mid animation festival collections to eventually see something this Excellent. Now indie animators are on a whole other level of talent
I find it quite humorous that the line the frog says in that scene is the only spoken dialog in the film and is the only thing displayed when captions are turned on.
At first I thought the spider was gonna eat the frog but then they just had a tea party instead. You have no idea how much joy that little scene gave me
I like that the spider has a moustache under his pedipalps. And the little wave the spider gives his new frog buddy when he moves him off back home. Strangely wholesome. No where else do you see the spider being such a sweet character.

What I love most about this is how it showcases digital animation. Digital animation often gets unfairly maligned when compared to classical animation. Here we can see the use of blur and distortion effects to beautifully accentuate many of the movements and actions, while colour math helps give the pond water a wonderful murky appearance. It's a composed and assembled so seamlessly to achieve visuals that conventional animation wouldn't be able to accompish. Also, you got to love the showcase of Australian wildlife. Marsupial representation ✊!
yea, especially if you pay attention to the scene where he switches hands to find his watch, and he aves good bye to the frog, who actually was holding a cup of tea when it was in that cabin with Spider, and they enjoyed some dead flies together!
My science teacher wanted to know what our favorite movie was in school, and me, being a person who doesn’t like movies very much decided to put in this film. In doing that, i got my science teacher to watch all of your shorts. She loved it :)
Took me halfway through and a channel check to realize that this beautifully trippy animation was familiar! It's been a long while since I've seen work done by this channel, and i didn't even know it still made these animation! But I'm glad it dose, even if this was only made three years ago, kt brings me back much further.
I thought they were going to eat the poor guy, but no, they were trying to be a gentleman and help the poor frog in its plight. Maybe the spiders had seen so many star voices stolen by the witch that it wanted to help the frog get a new one out of sympathy, so it tried to have it go to the stars at night to eat a new voice, which is why it waited till it was almost nighttime. What a kind spider.

Hoping as time passes more and more people will come to appreciate his style and hard work as we do. That’s just such a lovely compliment to give an artist, that you believe in them and admire them so much that you can see a future where they are well known and appreciated, and their work goes on to influence others. Aww, not going to lie I’m definitely going to steal your compliment the next time one of my friends shows me art they’ve worked hard on, because it’s a lovely sentiment, and I think sometimes artists need to look towards the future and see how what they make can influence others in a positive way, as many artists can be quite harsh about things they’ve just completed. It’s good to let them know how much you believe in their talents and hard work, since sometimes it can be hard to have faith in their own creations. But what you said is a beautiful way to show an artist that you connect with their work, and you believe eventually many others will too. Well not quite, it's just a symbiosis between the species. The frog helps to protect the spider's eggs and the spider protects the frog from harm. Somethings may want to mess with a frog but no one wants to mess with a hairy, eight-legged beastie the size of a dinnerplate
Considering how the cat found that the possum was responsible for stealing everyone's voice, it feels like a setup for a sequel following the little voice thief getting away but losing the voices and trying to track them down one at a time

Not likely, if you take a look at 7:07 the sky is filled with falling voices. This could imply that the possum-like creature threw it all away or that the cat and the rest of the animal crew made the possum get rid of the voices.
I think that everyone knew what the voices were and how the Witch makes music. Cat only cared because everyone cares only about their kind: they despise who they eat and hate who eats them. Taking a voice from someone they feel empaty to, though! You filthy cruel criminal

The spider switching between its wrists because it couldn't remember which one the watch was on is one tiny example of the amount of care Colgrave puts into these works. Thanks for another masterpiece which I will watch probably around twenty times.

Oh, I didn't realise that's what the cat was yelling about. I just thought it was funny that the cat, while tearing out a lorikeet's throat, was pointing the finger at someone else
Not likely, if you take a look at 7:07 the sky is filled with falling voices. This could imply that the possum-like creature threw it all away or that the cat and the rest of the animal crew made the possum get rid of the voices.
