Thank you Pan for the opportunity, it was an amazing experience to work by your side. Pan is a fantastic human being and a true master of his craft. Cheers. ✌
Man it's so cool to see the person that convinced me to start polishing with the person that helps me fefine it! Frank I really like your channel and I will be watching in the future 4 sure! And Pan thank you for recognitizing Franks channel as it is a great one! Cheers for both of you!
This is a wonderful demonstration. I started following Pan two years ago. I discovered Frank's Detailing Dogma Channel several weeks ago through DIY Detail. Both of you are great teachers and I truly enjoy the content on your channels. I'm glad to see both of you together in this collaboration.

This is a great video showing the comparison in the best way possible - the grid comparison was so visually representative of the All in One, 1 step & 2 step. Pan supporting fellow colleagues is amazing & doing great things for the detailing community.

Wow glad yo see Detailing Dogma getting some attention, especially from Pan. I really appreciate how Frank keeps it simple and has a good variety of subjects already in his channel. Also love to see another Canadian creator.
Oh what I would give to collab with Pan!!! What an honor!!! This was a video I really needed!!! Thank you for giving me some great clarification in knowing what to use for different steps in polishing!!!
Glad to know you enjoyed this! Continue working hard to grow your channel, and who knows, perhaps one day we'll get a collab together! ;) I typically wait for channels to reach 5K-10K subscribers to make sure they are there for the real reasons, and are working hard to build their own brand and audience first. And I feel they are doing good things for the detailing community, I offer my platform for them to reach the next level. :)
A good informative video of 3 different methods of paint correction. Nice job Pan and Frank, doing a good demonstration while giving relevant information. More collaborations in the future would be welcome. Well done.
Pan and Frank….thank you for this comparison. Thank you also for making it an efficient video…..I’m a DIY detail enthusiast and have never machine polished my vehicles paint. I have the Griot’s G9 starter kit and now feel more confident about trying a 1-step here at home. Great content gentlemen!!
Hey Adam, go for it! Start slow to get a feel for this machine and build your confidence, you'll get the hang of it quick, and thank you for sharing this with us.

This is awesome of you Pan to give back to the community and also provide educational videos. The BMW looked fantastic with all three test squares compared to the original. The only question I have is how much clearcoat did the different polishes remove. I will subscribe to the channel because I like to learn and think.
Hey Neil thanks for watching the video. To answer your question we did not measure after the whole process but in my experience a solid 2-step can usually remove around .2 mils, but there a lot of factors there can make this number vary up or down. Cheers and thanks for watching ✌
As someone just getting into mobile auto detailing and hopefully paint correction in the future this was a very comprehensive video thanks so much for all that you do Pan, and s/o to Frank hes cool

Thanks for this associated video. What would you do on my case. On my ceramiced car I get big amount of water spot that I didn't succeed to erased with Q2 waterspot remover . I want to make a gentle pass of sonax perfect finish with smooth pad but will it cut out the ceramic protection?
Hey Sylvain, appreciate you watch the video. I have run into the same problem that you have, even with bird droppings. Yes you're most likely going to remove the ceramic even with a light polish in my experience. Start with this least aggressive method but chances are that you might need to step up your cut to get rid of it, the heat can swell the paint unfortunately and the stains may come back a few hours later, I dont want to scare you, each stain can be different. I had to sand a bird poo with 2000 grit to remove it and it was only left there for a few hours, compounding would not touch it. Let me know how it goes but some waterspot are better to left alone sometimes.

Even the one step (lower left if standing in front of the car looking at the hood) was amazing by comparison to where it started. If somone was looking for a great improvement, that was affordable it's awesome. Of course top right is the best. Great job on all fronts.
Exactly. It all depends on the customer's needs, expectations and budget. Sometimes, a 1-step is good enough for 95% of people, and costs less, and you still get a dramatic improvement over uncorrected paint for sure.
Hi Guys, great work! What I'm interested the most in is the time spent on the whole car. All these three methods. What are your estimations? How much time you would need to polish this very car with these 3 methods. Thanks
Hey man, very good question, that's gonna depend on the detailer and how much he or she can allocate to each of those steps for them selves. Generally speaking for myself, with all the prep steps including wash and decon wheels and machine work & protect i'd do a 3 hours on a AOI, 6 for a 1-step and 8++ for a 2 step. Again it'd align with desired results and so on. Hope that helps.
Awesome video! My Tundra is a daily driver that also stays outside all the time. I do a 1 step polish annually. I’m sure the 2 step would make my paint even better, but I don’t think I’ll swap to a 2 step right now. Maybe when I have a garage and am able to take better care of my vehicle.
Hey Cole, a light one-step a year or 2 is a good way to maintain highly desirable paint IMO without going overboard and removing too much paint. Thanks for watching ✌
Good stuff just what I needed at the perfect time as about to start a paint correction on my 10 year old car with some DIY Detail products I purchased, hopefully they work good
@@Detailing_Dogma great thanks, I got it because it looked very straight forward, one polish, seems to be user friendly and forgiving for amateurs like me haha.
@@magicmatt4195 Yes Gold Standard Polish is very versatile, you don't need anything else other than a few type of pads to get the desired results. Good luck !

Great video, just a quick question. When you do the two step, would you IPA the whole car after the first step before the polish, and then IPA again after step two?
This video is a very good example of the differences between enhancement, 1-step and multistep. As a weekendwarrior working on my own car, I can justify the extra labour of going multistep. I recently bought a 10 year old Mercedes with hard(ish) paint. Not as bad condition as the BMW paint, but some deeper scratches and some lighter swirls. I'm planning to be a bit conservative (or preservative), and aim for 70-80% correction. I want to keep enough clearcoat for future polishing knowing that new swirls and dammage will occur. Just like Frank, I do like the F6.01 and did a test-spot with Rupes yellow foam. It worked very well. Maybe 60-70% correction and finished nice. I'll maybe try out some other pads to see if I can get slightly more cut without sacrificing the finish. Over here in Europe the new Rupes intermediate pads are sold separately, and I have a couple to play with. Will be interessting to see if I can get away with a 1-step.
J’adore la collaboration j’ai cru reconnaître un accent québécois ça fait plaisir de voir que l’on peut étendre le savoir en anglais au monde entier à partir de notre belle région 😁😁😁
I enjoy when the detailing community collaborates and gives informative information to the DIY audience. Keep up the good work, see you in the next one.
I fully agree with you Albert. The detailing community should always band together and help one another. There are some rotten apples out there, but in majority, it's nice to see us all get along!
With adequate test spots, a one-step is usually adequate and manageable for most clients here with beat up daily drivers - mainly to take care of heavy oxidation, up to 65-70% of dense swirls (based on paint type) and increase shine&clarity.
Yes and a 1-step is much less expensive, so it always depends on their budget and needs. Hence why it's important to have a discussion with a customer and see what his expectations and budget are.
Hey Hakalak, thanks for hoping on the video. Personally I like to have at least 4 to 5 pads for a sedan like this and cleaning them afterwards in the sink. If you have a 3 inch polisher I'd have the same amount for better edging and curved areas. Let me know if I can help further. cheers ✌
Dan? Who's Dan? HAHA Frank is my guest on this video. When doing paint correction, you usually have two schools of thought. Use one cutting pad and one polishing pad for the entire vehicle, using a pad washer after each panel to refresh the pad. The other method is to use 4-5 cutting pads, and 4-5 polishing pads for one average size car. Changing to a fresh pad after every other panel. Both methods work well. I also suggest you watch two videos I made for helping beginners to understand everything about paint correction, including one with the guys from DIY Detail themselves: th-cam.com/video/ustTEVGMOTI/w-d-xo.htmlsi=5g6BtffGKepLcmal th-cam.com/video/b9KDpKMmAi0/w-d-xo.htmlsi=a8jY6hogBuSHBN9O

This is great education. Really helps give some confidence and equips someone to try this at home. If I can offer one critique, the choice of music has a really creepy vibe during the non talk parts.
@@Detailing_Dogma lol. No issue. It’s completely subjective. Just kind of stuck out and seemed off for the vibe of the video. Great job however. I’ll be checking out your channel. I appreciate it when people are willing to teach these things. 👍🏻
You should always clay before polishing, as you don't want to grind any embedded contamination at high rotating speeds deeper into the paint, causing more damage.
Hey Pan. What options do I have to paint correct if there are stone chips in the front area of the car deep enough that paint was removed? Re-paint the whole surface again? Stone chip repair kits? Touch up pens? What's your take on that?
I don't do stone chip repairs. I leave that to paint experts in body shops. And for my own cars, I only do 6000-7000 km annually and get a new car every three years, so stone chips are usually of no concern to me. I barely get any. But knowing my OCD, if I would get a lot of stone chips, I'd have the entire panel repainted professionally.

Do any of these products leave marks on weather stripping or plastics? What are the types of products that do leave marks? Can they be removed if so how? Are there parts you always tape off? Tape with standard painters tape or a lower sticking tape?
Hi Keith. The majority of compounds and polishes can stain plastics so it's a good idea to always tape the trim before starting. But there are a few polishes now that don't stain, which I like as it makes it quicker to polish without wasting time taping. A polish like this: bit.ly/3WwLbsy You can see me fully detail a vehicle from beginning to end, including polishing with that polish and applying a ceramic coating in this video: th-cam.com/video/uV7QWwyuPL4/w-d-xo.htmlsi=A2MuC2Q0GXzfCsTl
Great comparison video. I am curious how sonax perfect finish on its own would compare to f6 on its own. Both as a 1 step. Since sonax is a diminishing polish that starts out with a decent cut, do you feel this would be comparable to the F6 results?
Hey Manny, Sonax has very little to no cut on most paint (exception with extreme soft paint)in my experience, it would remove the slightest swirl very very fine, nothing close to F6. To me Perfect Finish is a true finishing product to remove haze and max out the gloss and depth after a solid cut. F6 is just a versatile machine, again on some paint it can finish just as well as Sonax while giving a much better cut.
Taking the car in the sun was a great idea since it's the place where you can clearly see the difference, well done guys. Do you think a more powerful long throw polisher would do a better correction on all the test areas?
Thanks! A long throw wouldn't have done more, it would just have done it quicker. But as we were testing on smaller square areas, we didn't need the larger throw machines.
I'm really into watching detailing videos and I'm eager to kickstart my detailing journey. The amount of information out there is a bit daunting, and I'm not sure where to begin or what products to use. At 23, I'm keen on learning more and was wondering if there are opportunities for apprenticeships in this field, or if most people start out independently. I'm currently in Tampa and thinking about reaching out to some well-reviewed local detailers to see if I could shadow them or work alongside them. Is that a good idea?

That would work too. But if you want an even higher performing polish, easier to use, that you can use as a compound if paired with a cutting pad, and as a polish if paired with a polishing pad, this is my recommendation: tinyurl.com/yh3a9kza You can see it in action in this video that Frank also made: th-cam.com/video/Eo376329UPY/w-d-xo.htmlsi=dxvwuOFow9PRdJus It took an award also as his favourite one-step polish for 2024.
I'm totally new at this, but in terms of risk/reward, it's hard to go wrong with the one step polish, followed up by a nice protection layer. You can really work yourself into some serious damage with those aggressive cutting compounds, especially if you don't have a good match of cutting and polishing grades when paired with a beginner's skill. In the hands of a master, it's a totally different story. It always looks so easy on video, but reality is another story. If the goal is to take 5+ years of oxidation and surface defects off a car, with minimal risk of damage, a quality prep, polish, pad, and diligence can make a daily driver into a stunning car. I find myself seeing literally every defect left over when I'm done, but getting a good 75-80% improvement takes 1/5th the time as a 90%+ improvement. I have been less than impressed at the all-in-ones, and what I find frustrating with diminishing abrasives is I just don't have the knowledge to recognize when the product has been worked long enough to reduce the abrasives appropriately. Too long and you overheat the paint and product, too short and you're left with larger abrasive pieces. I recently did my car, doing just an AIO on the roof because I was being lazy, and the difference in clarity, finish and depth with the AIO was night and day vs doing a 1 step polish on the rest of the vehicle.
Can't wait to do a two step on my 1999 mercedes. It's black and has been poorly washed for years. It's in good hands now though. It has so many swirls, oh the swirls. I might even C6 Hydro Light ceramic coat it.
@@senorbonbon I have not done it yet. I want to try DIY Detail wool pads and gold standard polish but the 5'5 inch pads have been sold out. Someday I'll get around to it. Might just stick to the buff and shine euro pad and One polish. I've had good luck with that combo.
I think its important to note that these products are versatile and can be used either as a “One Step” or “All in One” depending on the pad used. For example, The Koch Chemie F6 Fine Cut is actually the first step of Koch Chemie’s 2 Step System. But in this demonstration, he uses it as a 1 step polish. Similarly, the “Rupes Advanced” can be used as an “All in One” (as demonstrated here) or as a follow up second step after more aggressive compounding.
totally my friend. There's no true standard and a lot of detailing jargon but it's widely agreed that a medium compound usually end up being used a 1-step combined with medium pad.
There are many forms of pads for paint correction: foam, wool, microfiber, hybrid, etc. So yes wool pads are safe for paint, they were designed for paint correction. Which pad you pick, and which polish or compound you pick, depends on your level of desired paint correction, your specific paint, and the level of defects (scratches, swirls, etc) and oxidation. I bought a 3 in 1 from meguiars, and i have to say, it did nothing to my dark grey paint. No scratches were gone. It almost got worse, because of the clay. Next time i will do a 1 step or 2 step.
@Pan..I was charged $2750 for Ceramic Pro silver on a Porsche Macan with one stage paint correction and removing a clear bra that went half way up the hood. does that sound fair to you? He said it would be $1300 but then added $1400 of charges for the clear bra removal and paint correction at the end.
I don't do PPF installations, so I can't comment on that portion, but the $1300 for the 1-step and ceramic coating is actually reasonable. I'm assuming that's $1300 USD?
@@PanTheOrganizer Yeah. I agree thats is a fair pric for the coating.. I just can't get over hewn ended up with an extra $1400 to remove half a hood of PPF! But appreciate your candor.
@ryanmatthew511 $1300USD is very fair for the ceramic prep and application. PPF removal is labor intensive. I removed a PPF bra on my personal car and it was only 1/4 of the hood. Needless to say I'd charge a lot to ever do it again.
Hey my friend, to add to Pan's video personally i'd go with this one in the low price category : SHINE MATE ORBITAL POLISHER EX610-5/15 - 5" 15MM THROW DA
Great video. An idea came to head, why not make a video of actually washing, iron decontamination, clay, and polish and wax on a car in direct sunlight. Show the reasons why we shouldn't do it or what you are able to achieve if it needs to be done like for mobile detailers. Think that would interesting to see.
great suggestion! The truth is you should always work in the shade no matter what or early morning/late night. In the sun is doable but not ideal. Some people work with what they have but at the end of the day work in the best condition possible. Cheers!
3D One isn't an all-in-one, as it doesn't contain any protection. What you meant to say was a 1-step paint correction, using 3D One as the polish, and the Uro-Fiber pad from Buff N Shine. ;) An all-in-one polish contains protection in it. Something like 3D Speed is a good example of that, or the Rupes UNO Advanced. Those do some light correction all while laying down a small layer of protection, for people who want to save time and aren't going to apply a ceramic coating.
Impossible to discuss prices on TH-cam as it depends on so many factors including location. A job in Montreal won’t cost the same in New York or Paris for example. Even in the same city prices often fluctuate from one neighborhood to another. Your best bet is to see what reputable detailers near you charge and adjust accordingly.
I polished my car by hand it's a small car it is a Mini Cooper, but I ended exhausted 😅. Now I'm trying to decide if I buy first a vacuum or a polisher xD.

Through test spots. Paint that corrects faster is softer. Soft paint is also easier to scratch. Paint that is harder is much harder to scratch, but also harder to correct. But don’t overthink the moment on paint hardness. Focus on finding the right polishing compound and pad combo that works on your specific paint and achieves your desired level of paint correction. No. It was the Rupes Uno Advanced all-in-one polish that we let sit for 15 minutes as per the instructions, as that one contains protection in it. See my video on that product here: th-cam.com/video/0QJjnpCbG2Q/w-d-xo.htmlsi=_U4AC2NSvxLg96sY

Excellent video. I’m just about to machine polish my car for the first time so this is super helpful. Thank you

Great video! Love Detailing Dogma videos. Thank you both!

Thanks Cole!
Hey Cole, a light one-step a year or 2 is a good way to maintain highly desirable paint IMO without going overboard and removing too much paint. Thanks for watching ✌

Thanks for sharing!

Good point my friend! Thank you
Yes and a 1-step is much less expensive, so it always depends on their budget and needs. Hence why it's important to have a discussion with a customer and see what his expectations and budget are.

Hey Danny thank you man. Pumps me up ✌
Excellent thanks Pan & Dan. For the one step, how many pads is needed to do a regular cars like this one ? Thanks

@PanTheOrganizer - Do I need to clay bar before doing any of these? Love the videos...keep them coming !!!
You should always clay before polishing, as you don't want to grind any embedded contamination at high rotating speeds deeper into the paint, causing more damage.
Thanks Pan. Also nice for you to collaborate with a fellow detailer. One day we will meet. Enjoy your evening my friend.
Thanks, you too!

A polish like this: bit.ly/3WwLbsy

Thanks man!
PERFECT TIMING!
👍🏻
What would be the result of using a higher blue heavy polishing pad with the all in one?
2 step definitely. Might be a little more work, but worth it. 👍
It really depends on the severity of the paint defects.
I’ll take the All in One for a daily 👍 Thanks Frank and Pan
Thanks for watching!

@@PanTheOrganizer Thank you so much pan 🙏🏻
Hey Frank from Detail Dogma. Love his channel 🤗🤗🤗🤗
Thanks for watching!
David nice to you on here! Thanks for the usual support brother ✌
What about using
One and done
1st step with cuting pad
2nd step with polish pad
How is it compared to 2step with 2 different compound and polish?
That would work too. But if you want an even higher performing polish, easier to use, that you can use as a compound if paired with a cutting pad, and as a polish if paired with a polishing pad, this is my recommendation: tinyurl.com/yh3a9kza
You can see it in action in this video that Frank also made: th-cam.com/video/Eo376329UPY/w-d-xo.htmlsi=dxvwuOFow9PRdJus
It took an award also as his favourite one-step polish for 2024.
Great comparison of techniques. 👍👍
Glad you liked it. Thank you✌
Thanks! 👍
Is an all-in-one enough to remove marring from a claybar?
It depends how bad it is. You’d have to do a test spot to figure out the best polish and pad combo for your specific paint.
Can't wait to do a two step on my 1999 mercedes. It's black and has been poorly washed for years. It's in good hands now though. It has so many swirls, oh the swirls. I might even C6 Hydro Light ceramic coat it.
How did it go bro? What pad & compound do you use for your 2 step? As well as what polish?
Pan for President!!!
💪🏻💪🏻👍🏻
Love these shows but the paint always looks perfect already on all these cars
Looks perfect? Omg that is the firthest thing from perfect…
Pam this is unrelated but why does my korrosol from bilthamber turn the inner wheels a dripping brown after a while?and how do I fix it?
Did you reach out to Bilt Hamber?
With a black car I would obviously do the 2 step!!
Is the lamb wool pad safe for paint?
There are many forms of pads for paint correction: foam, wool, microfiber, hybrid, etc. So yes wool pads are safe for paint, they were designed for paint correction.
Which pad you pick, and which polish or compound you pick, depends on your level of desired paint correction, your specific paint, and the level of defects (scratches, swirls, etc) and oxidation.

I like the two steps correction
Thanks for watching!
me too ! thanks for watching the video ✌
Best results for 2-Step:
Rotary Polisher
Rupes Yellow Wool Pad
KCX Heavy Cut
Finish off with:
Dual-action polisher
Rupes yellow foam pad
3DOne Hybrid
many roads to lead to Rome, hope to meet you there! cheers ✌
What’s the best beginner polisher? Like 150 max maybe 200
Your answer is in my affordable polishers video here: th-cam.com/video/LvPCkCqXEq0/w-d-xo.htmlsi=j2qkHX8bPcLWIhbu
Hey my friend, to add to Pan's video personally i'd go with this one in the low price category : SHINE MATE ORBITAL POLISHER EX610-5/15 - 5" 15MM THROW DA
@@Detailing_Dogma thanks for your suggestion. Why that over the EX620? Recently heard abt it
@@Twiztid_Metal hey man go ahead get the 620 its superior but more expensive considering you asked for 200 max. cheers
Great video. An idea came to head, why not make a video of actually washing, iron decontamination, clay, and polish and wax on a car in direct sunlight. Show the reasons why we shouldn't do it or what you are able to achieve if it needs to be done like for mobile detailers. Think that would interesting to see.
Thanks Joshua!
great suggestion! The truth is you should always work in the shade no matter what or early morning/late night. In the sun is doable but not ideal. Some people work with what they have but at the end of the day work in the best condition possible. Cheers!
Well done my friend..
Thank you! Cheers!
Another good option for an “All in One” setup is using 3D One and a Uro-Fiber pad from Buff n’ Shine.
3D One isn't an all-in-one, as it doesn't contain any protection. What you meant to say was a 1-step paint correction, using 3D One as the polish, and the Uro-Fiber pad from Buff N Shine. ;)
An all-in-one polish contains protection in it. Something like 3D Speed is a good example of that, or the Rupes UNO Advanced. Those do some light correction all while laying down a small layer of protection, for people who want to save time and aren't going to apply a ceramic coating.
@@PanTheOrganizer Thank you!
Great video guys thanks
Glad you enjoyed it! 👍🏻
Many thanks Rob. Hope to see you on the channel ✌ cheers
So how much would you charge for each step ?
Impossible to discuss prices on TH-cam as it depends on so many factors including location. A job in Montreal won’t cost the same in New York or Paris for example. Even in the same city prices often fluctuate from one neighborhood to another.
Your best bet is to see what reputable detailers near you charge and adjust accordingly.
@@PanTheOrganizer okay thanks
Nice video showing difference s.
Thanks!
Glad you liked it brother ✌
Best video!!!
Glad you think so!
I polished my car by hand it's a small car it is a Mini Cooper, but I ended exhausted 😅. Now I'm trying to decide if I buy first a vacuum or a polisher xD.

how to tell if your paint is soft or hard?
Through test spots. Paint that corrects faster is softer. Soft paint is also easier to scratch. Paint that is harder is much harder to scratch, but also harder to correct.
But don’t overthink the moment on paint hardness. Focus on finding the right polishing compound and pad combo that works on your specific paint and achieves your desired level of paint correction.
See my popular paint correction tutorial for beginners here: th-cam.com/video/ustTEVGMOTI/w-d-xo.html
I choose the 2-step method
Thanks for watching!
great choice!
I think u mentioned that you left the compound rest for 15 minutes?
