  • Fenqihu has a very interesting history tied to railroad development in Taiwan. A surprising number of foods are very unique to Fenqihu, and we enjoyed them all! We also hiked the nearby Logging Trail (more railroad ties!). From bento boxes to train cakes to famous donuts, you don't want to miss Fenqihu!

    In Fenqihu, Taiwan, the town's history is rooted in trains and the logging industry. The town is known for its food, including delicious donuts and rice cakes. They also have famous Bento boxes, which were traditionally eaten by loggers passing through. The town is picturesque, with 7-Elevens, alleyways, and ponds to explore. We hiked along the Logger's Trail, a historic path used for hauling lumber. The trail was filled with stairs (so many stairs!) and led to a beautiful bamboo grove. Train cakes were one of the most unique things we ate while in Fenqihu!

    When I researched 7-Eleven in Alishan, it seems that there are three. Each elevation is 2050m, 2178m and 2200m. Looking at old information, the altitude of the highest 7-Eleven in Taiwan was 2050m. On the website dated 2022, it was written that the 7-Eleven at an altitude of 2200m is the highest in Taiwan.
    Yesterday (June 4th), I saw a TH-cam video called "Currently Hannah". Hannah is Australian and lives in Japan. She recently went to Taiwan. I watched her latest video (Taiwan's Most Beautiful Hike - Jiaming Lake) and was blown away by the beautiful scenery. As she said in the video, Taiwan is about the same size as Kyushu and has 268 mountains over 3000m (Japan only has 21!). Also, Japan's highest mountain is Mount Fuji (3776m), while Taiwan's highest mountain is Yushan at 3952m! I think that the charm of Taiwan is not only the delicious food, but also the wonderful nature.

      I'm surprised that Taiwan is so much more mountainous than Japan, yet so much smaller! And thank you for checking out the 7-11 thing for me. It must have been an outdated website I was reading. 😊😊

    I like your in-depth way of traveling Taiwan such as FENQIHU. This is the right way to discover the beauty of Taiwan. Didn't you find that there were no other western tourists while you were strolling at FENQIHU? You were maybe the only western couple at that day. There are a lot of places like FENQIHU for tourists to find out. This is why you can come back to Taiwan again and again and each time you will still find something amazing!😀

    As a Taiwanese, I can confirm that the highest 7-11, along with the highest convenient store in Taiwan, is the one in Alishan at 2,200m (there are two 7-11 in Alishan, the one in the bus terminal is 30m lower). However, the one at Fenqihu was the highest when it was opened in 2005, it is also the 4000th 7-11 store in Taiwan.

    • @TalesFromOurPocket
      @TalesFromOurPocket  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There’re more than 6,800 7-11 stores in Taiwan. If other brands such as FamilyMart are included, the total numbers of convenience stores in Taiwan exceeds 13,000.

    The elevation of Fenqihu 7-11 is about 1400 meters, which is lower than the 7-11 at Alishan, at 2200 meters (7217 ft.)! So the latter is the highest convenience store in Taiwan.
    The +300 means exactly that: how long (in meters) you’ve walked (added) so far. You should’ve seen 0 at the beginning of the trails.

    台灣的特色之一就是有走不完的山路,所以行程與時間要稍微掌握好,必要時可以準備些糧食和水,也建議相關單位能把施工資訊更加讓旅客、山友知道,尤其是在地圖上或是入口處,這也是我時常遇到的情況。

      如果從人類的道德以及佛陀的教育來看,美國是邪惡的大國,假自由民主之名,處處造作惡業,例如,同性婚、廢死刑、搞墮胎、吸毒、搶劫,放縱人民私慾,「殺生、偷盗、邪淫、妄言,綺語、兩舌、惡口、顛倒是非、造謠抹黑」使人下墮三惡道,來世難得到人身。(還處處干涉人家內政, 讓世界處於二分法)。
      佛陀大覺者預言,人類會越來越沒道德心, 放縱人類私慾的結果,就會使這個世界人類越來越沉淪!
      佛言:「苦海無邊,回頭是岸。若人回心,發願修行,捨非從是,改惡向善,長齋戒酒,參投明師,得正見者,不拘老少,皆成佛道。
      中國從古至今受聖賢教導,再壞也壞不到哪裡去,(不要刻意做個案的突顯對立,整體上還算是好的)反而西方國家,崇尚言論自由,可以為所欲為,容易違背道德,而且兩黨像是雙頭馬車,能做什麼事。
      民進黨花了兩三兆,看不出來作了什麼!
