    Taiwanese snacks are very unique. This is the first time I have seen peanut and coriander rolls eaten this way. I will definitely try it myself if I have the chance.

    🥜🥜 and coriander sounds….yummy! Very cool about each 🗡️ 🦁 being unique. Fun treasure hunt looking for them 😁. The tree house was very cool…since you guys are into trees, hopefully you can make your way to California in the U.S. and experience the giant sequoias and redwoods… those memories will forever be etched in my mind… unfortunately (or fortunately) many of the sequoias have barriers around them to protect them from erosion and harm caused by tourists… those trees are truly prehistorically otherworldly… a must experience for tree lovers.. Hope you guys are having a good time in indo and enjoying the yummy food! Safe (and cooler) travels!!

    • @PeterandYen
      @PeterandYen  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes! Definitely one of the tree stops that we really want to see. Those sequoia trees look out of this world. Watch a dodgers game to see shohei ohtani, grand canyon and sequoia trees that'll be a great trip 😁
      We will have to figure out when we can do it though.
      We just left Yogyakarta now. Had an amazing time exploring the old temples 🛕 here. Are you still in Bangkok?

      @@PeterandYen if you’re hitting the Grand Canyon, gotta do a buffet run in Vegas! Something in LA was on your food bucket list too, wasn’t it? Was it tacos? Or maybe that was me…I talk about food so much it all blends in. I went on a taco run for like 6 months 😂. Yup, KL… always love the food in KL.. thinking of Mongolia soon 😁. Have fun and safe travels!

      @SeoulMan2020 ooooo dude if you're going to Mongolia you have to do the eagle hunting. That looks so cool.
      Don't really know what to do Vegas 😅 not really huge on casinos. Is the buffet really worth it?

    • @SeoulMan2020
      @SeoulMan2020 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@PeterandYen the first time I had to go to Vegas I hated it… vowed never to go back (I don’t gamble, I don’t like crowds, gaudy fixtures, casinos, etc. Years later went back and tried a buffet. Was pretty fun… and there are tons and tons and tons and tons of buffet as well as so many eating options at all price levels (oddly, one of my favorite taco places near the Mexican border opened up a shop in Vegas - look up Tacos El Gordo in Vegas). So once or twice a year I’d make a Vegas run to try a couple buffets, go hiking with my dogs (there are some really cool hiking areas just outside of Vegas) and do my yearly shopping at the outlets. I will say, I recently looked at some vids of Vegas buffets and it looks like the quality has gone and things look sloppier.. or maybe I’ve just tried better places from traveling 🤷‍♂️

      @PeterandYen So many things have changed especially after covid. I love coriander, I am so Asian lol but my husband doesn't like it so I rarely use it in my home-cooking dishes 🥲. He always picked out the coriander from the bread roll and gave it to me lol

    Another educational, “tasty” and wonderful vlog! I had no idea that the Dutch colonized Taiwan and that Tainan is the oldest city in Taiwan! When we were in NZ, we were told by a tour guide that through DNA, the Māori people originated from Taiwan. Any truth in that? Also, did you come across any research on Taiwan regarding its indigenous people?

    • @PeterandYen
      @PeterandYen  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Neither did we until we were doing our research into Tainan 😆 we have heard about the Maori ancestor lineage with Taiwan aboriginals.. apparently there's some evidence of it especially with some cultural and language similarities shared. At sun moon lake the Ita Thao (last spot we went) are where one of the native tribes reside but other than that didn't come across all that much and don't know which tribe might be specifically linked to Maori ancestors unfortunately!

    • @raywayski
      @raywayski หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks for your input based on your research. I’m curious now as to any DNA linkages and also how far back in history all this supposedly happened. So I’m going to spend a few minutes doing some research on this topic. BTW, my sister is on her way to see “the” friend who might know we (my sister and I) have been to Alisan.

    At the intro, said to myself, must be a sleepy small city, now that it is no longer the capital, just watching the initial 2:55 mins
    Realise that it's a pretty big city when you guys shared to shot from 2:55 mins
    Pete/Yen, what's that peanut sweet/treat (flat rectangular one) @3:49 the man in blue was crushing
    I used to eat smaller versions of that when I was a kid in Klang
    Pete's description of the potted plant is so amp 😅
    The heat and humidity must have been high, not often Pete fans himself down when standing under a fan 😰

    • @PeterandYen
      @PeterandYen  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Haha we just learnt from someone else in the comments there's a chromosome or gene perhaps that makes some people really dislike coriander 😆 the sword lions have a whole story and history behind them! Troops would carve lion images on their shields to strike fear in the hearts of their enemies and when they returned home they would place their shields and swords at the front door.. eventually the practice turned into locals in the area hanging sword lions emblem to ward off potential intruders so that's how they became a symbol of guardians/protectors 😊⚔️🦁
