    Hey. Lisa Gerrard always makes music so spiritual. Glad many musicians can tap into the spiritual and then perform it for the rest of us. Everyone has done a bit of automatic writing. Creativity is for everyone. Imagine how spiritually devoid you'd have to be to think something like music isn't spiritual.

    it's literally impossible to cover Gerrard. there's no greater example of 'one of a kind' , she's channeling heaven

      Sarah Brightman covered "Sanvean" , in a live concert in Vienna Cathedral. She did an excellent job.
      I admire Sarah's chutzpah to even attempt that song live .

      Diana Ankudinova could come close to being successful in covering her.

    It doesn't surprise me that nobody has even attempted to cover this, it must be an absolute nightmare to sing, as always though, the magical, enchanting, voice from the god's sounds sublime.

      I also imagine, especially for classical singers, the timing is probably horribly complex lmao, like there’s a reason things like opera or chant are easy because the timing is just so obvious and marked and sometimes literally mirrored by the instrumentation, but then you get this and it’s like, how tf am I supposed to know when to sing and when to stop

    It is just so very special and purely unique, and nothing would ever replace this in my heart. It penetrates so deep into your soul, touching different emotions, and nerve endings, in its beauty, and power, and as you hear it, you feel lost for words.

    Is it fair to call Lisa Gerrard an opera singer or is there another word for what she does?

      She's definitely influenced by Classical and Opera, however she likes to sing with the freedom of a young child.
      She has her own, organic approach.

      A truly classically trained voice projects without electric amplification. That's what sets them apart from non classical voices. They can achieve enormous volume without a microphone. Lisa Gerrard is hard to categorize. If she would have gone down the classical singing path, she would have become pristine also. But she is amazing and enchanting as she is. No category needed. There's also a difference between vocal and stylistic classification. But again, she is outside of all classification. For me at least.

    • @Paul-cl6uo
      @Paul-cl6uo 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@schneevongestern9898 she’s a contralto, no? If one were to classify her…even though she’s in a league of her own.

      @schneevongestern9898 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Paul-cl6uo measured by her low vocal range she would be a contralto, sure. But she is not a classical singer in the sense of being able to sing without amplification over an orchestra. And classical singers do that. They project enormous volume without a microphone. That's what I meant.
