    Didn't think I would be making a video like this anytime soon. Recently, guys, Harley Davidson invited me out to LA for the press launch of their Sportster S model that features the new Revolution Max T engine. I've never given the company a fair shake so it was finally time to get my butt on a Harley and see what this new direction they are taking the company is all about!

  • @daxdak
    @daxdak 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I bought one, I love it. Coming from a 2011 R6 that I've been riding for 9 years. Lots of twisty roads in upstate NY and the sportsterS leans and goes into corners confidently/as aggressively as you want it to(no man handling). For me its also not uncomfortable at all after an hour of riding. I'm 5"8 155lbs. My only complaints thus far is the size of the gas tank. Sport mode is just savage and has an unapologetic amount of "hold my beer" torque that will put big smiles on your face but its also thirsty mode. The other complaint is the suspension. Hitting moderate bumps at 60mph if you are unaware they are coming can lead to a... gentle yet firm colon punch. It's great sport "cruiser" and I recommend that you test one yourself and be pleasantly surprised if you're having doubts.

    Its reassuring that HD is finally recognizing that the video bloggers have real marketing impact probably over and above celebrities and the magazines. Watching you all with the FTR and Chief launches seemed to set Indian apart and now to see HD get the message that they need to leverage relationships with you is positive. Most of early times I spend riding around Southern Cal. This video brought back memories. I miss being able to filter in traffic....
    Rode supersports pretty much all my life, except recently where I had an adventure bike as a daily commuter (a 390 adventure) and just replaced my supersport for a naked/street fighter style bike. (a Street Triple). NEVER been ona cruiser, though.

    OC: the only time I’ve ridden a cruiser was during my MSF course but a few months ago I got into the Indian Scout, never got a chance to ride it yet but now with this Sportster, this is the new thing I’m obsessing about. Love it visually, not sure if I could ever get into the cruiser life with the twisty canyon roads I ride, and these bikes a super expensive so it’s hard to commit that much money to something that you won’t know how it turns out to be until you ride it for a while. Unlike a dual sport, $5-7k and you’ll find a way to enjoy it, low risk, low insurance, high fun, which brings me to my HOT TAKE: in the next 5-10 years we’ll see an explosion in the dual sport market, and prices will sky rise, similar to what we saw in the last decade with trucks and SUVs.

Oh, it's sporty! Oh, that's where the peg was! Oh, my back just died on that bump!" Loved the review, great video and thank you!!

    Have been watching since your R6 days; I “think” you were the first motorcycle TH-camr I began watching when my interest in getting a motorcycle became real and … I purchased a 2016 Indian Scout - still have it … may get a sport or naked bike in the future, but have gone deeper into cruising > touring after adding the Indian RoadMaster to my stable: another awesome bike!

    OC. Let me start by saying that I would enjoy cuiser content on the channel ;) My love for motorcycles began (as do most people) with the sportbikes, but slowly began loiving the cruisers a whole lot (for the looks mostly). This was when I didn't have a motorcycle. When I was finally able to buy my first bike I considered all options and honestly I was really close of getting a Yamaha Bolt, but the seller stepped back on me so I kept on looking and found the R3 I currently own (actually your videos on the R3 Monster eddition helped me decide). The longer I have my R3 the more I appreciate things like liquid cooling, comfortable suspension, low vibration while riding, etc; things that I know for sure cruisers don't have... I still appreciate the looks of the cuirsers but I'm not sure I would get one for myself anymore... If I had plenty money then yes, I would get a cruiser.

I really like how you went into the review for someone that is not a cruiser guy. Very neutral and honest review for someone that confesses to not having a desire to own or ride a cruiser anytime in the future. Most reviews tend to be pro Harley or anti Harley based. With forward controls you need to be comfortable with counter-steering. I'd say that's the main way to handle, even though leaning with your weight inside the curve is quite helpful, but you need to train a bit and I advise start leaning just before counter-steering.

  • @Love4boost

    I’m a Harley guy. I’ve never owned anything else. I only rock mid controls. I have crash bars for when I want to stretch my legs. Also Harley’s seats are always pretty terrible for riding all day. The touring bikes are better for a day out but still benefit a ton from an aftermarket seat. Just like the old Sportsters. Gotta jack up the rear. They aren’t friendly to anyone over 130lbs. I can’t think of another Harley off the top of my head in recent years to use a normal turn signal switch. The ones in both sides work pretty good. Especially the self canceling.
