- My rent went from 167 dollars USD to 155 USD and I this video I’ll give you an apartment tour, tell you why I live here, and how I long plan to stay there. Plus this gave me an excuse to clean my apartment or so I thought.

1. Now I live in Dominican Republic
- That shouldn’t tell you that my rent is cheap because of that
- Because I’ve seen apartments here that rent for US prices
- So its not the country or island where you live that makes the difference ( its going to be where you chose to live inside that place )
So I’m currently Located around San Pedro de Macoris
- Its like 1 hour away from the capital
- Almost 2 hours to punta cana
- So its far away from where all the tourist like living ( its where the local live )
Why do I live here:
- I was born here
- My family is from here
- And I like it
- Plus I found a great church here
2. So lets Show you some of my Apartment
- This is a 2 bedroom 1 bathroom apartment
- Buts really like a 1 bedroom because room is used an office
3. How long do I plan to stay here
- As a single person I can be here forever
- However I get married God willing
- This will not be sufficiet but I do hate moving
So my idea is simple:
- Most likely I’ll be here for 12-24 months and it could be less
- But when I do move, it won’t be to my house or my own apartment.
- I will probably continue to keep renting
However my preference would be this:
- An apartment with 3 bedroom where I could have an office and potentially the start of a family
- This way we have tiime to decide where would be the best place to buy or the best place to build
Another idea ive thought of was this:
- Spend 12-24 months here
- While we switch for an apartment that’s a 3 bedroom and I buy it
- We stay their semi long term and then buy or buuild a house and move out ( but have a rental property also )

Nice. My apartment in Tokyo goes for 75000 yen/month which is around $500. Reasonable place to, but you have to walk up and down four flights of stairs. With an elevator rent would double.
That sucks, that would make me not want to leave my apartment. Just to avoid the steps 😅

@@TommyBryson What's nice is living here, rents rarely if ever increase. My rent has never increased. That, plus not needing a car saves me a lot. It's probably major reason why I've been able to purchase R/E in the US.

I'm Cuban and i been living in the US for 30 years, i can have all the nicest things here but life is not about having the nicest things, life is about simplicity, no huge supermarkets or gas stations everywhere, fast food restaurant, big buildings or rushing like life is going to end tomorrow,
When i go to DR ask my self why in the world i keep pushing to live in the US
I plan to move to DR in a few years.

So in reference, I live in Guelph, Ontario, Canada which is 1 hour from toronto. The rent prices here are the same as in Toronto basically. 1 bedrooms for $1400 CAD are the absolute normal. So enjoy what you have brother, it just can't happen in Canada.
Rent is the least of Canada's problems unfortunately.

It’s true we don’t need much to be comfortable and happy. I just moved from my 2 bedroom 2 bath apartment because it was way too much just for me (financially and spatially). I only used one side of the apartment lol.
Also, I watched a few of your videos and I see you’re a Christian and a finance guru lol but I was wondering if you include tithes and offering when prioritizing your income??
For me would be santiago center of the country and close airport as well, also got the hospital call home which take US health insurance, got everything from santo Domingo for half of the price,
Do hospital in Santo Domingo or Santi take us health insurance?

In SPM you're not an hour and some change from the capital. Due to the crazy traffic we have here there's a very small window where that _could_ be the case during the week. Probably between 9 am (after most morning traffic) and 12 pm before rush hour. After 12 pm it starts to become crazy even though people are supposed to get off work at 4pm at the earliest (govt jobs) and 5pm onwards for the private sector.

just need to find the right websites or local rental ad papers to get the real prices. seems the more popular DR rental websites that pop up on google searches are mostly foreign owned and the prices they quote are pretty ridiculous.

Bro the apartment is lovely but if you don’t want to clean it then you should hire a cleaner. I get not having stuff and living local but you can definitely make that place nice.
People who "clean" here can be so incompetent that some people prefer to do the job themselves, if you hire someone you definitely need to keep an eye on them since many don't know the concept of cross contamination. Sure, they can leave the house *looking* clean but in reality they cleaned your kitchen with the same cloth they used to clean your bathroom lol.

Not here, we have a well and that gives constant water. And people that don’t have that, have water storage to have extra water
