I love that when Stede kicks of CJ off his ship, he does it in his frilly nightie and robe. He's dressed like when he first gets introduced to CJ who called him a Big Gal. But that's the thing, it doesn't detract from how absolutely BAMF he is.

im not sure if i respect stede for being more bothered that CJ hurt the crew by killing karl, or if im concerned that stede wasn't mad enough to get rid of CJ when he was only making stede miserable because stede puts up with too much hurtful shit....
@@fairieemy you can see how much Karl’s death affects EVERYONE including Ed, who sobers up quickly and has the expression of you shouldn’t have done that jack. As soon as Karl is murked the mood on the ship goes from jovial to depressed, stede however becomes angry
Here's the thing, I can see there being a bit of 'oh frick this is Blackbeard' in the auxiliary wardrobe scene, but I'm hard pressed to not see one of those reactions as gay panic (I mean honestly, if I had some tall leather clad person side eye then shush me like that, I'd be in full panic mode)
Why not have both be a mixture of both because honestly they both work. And same if a 6 foot tall leather man was interested in my summer linens and winter jackets I too would have gay panic
I think it would another way of stede obviousness to feelings for Ed that comes into play like I find humor in both of them Ed wasexperiencing closet thing to love at first sight with stede even before properly meeting him while opposite for stede yes he grew care for Ed during time together but wasn’t until he wasn’t fully with him that he realized he in fact in love Ed.
Everytime I show a new fan/crewmate that scene we all panic in attraction to appreciate Taika side eyeing Stede with the mischievous grin. You respect the man more learning how hard it was to emote in that beard
I just love how Stede is not intimidated AT ALL by Izzy's tough badass persona, like from minute 1! As much of a scaredy cat as Stede is throught most of the show, by ep 2 he couldn't give two shits about Izzy's "Bad Guy Authority" and I just love that so much!
The parallel of “maybe I do [have balls for days]” and “maybe I do [fancy a fine fabric]” is something that can be so personal- This made more sense in my head lol
Let’s get into it. Both say this lines in moments they lack the self-esteem due to past abuse & say it in desire for something they don’t fully feel they deserve because they were raised to believe they could never have this. For Ed, it’s material luxury & emotional safety/comfort. For Stede, it’s acceptance for being himself & community; the physical companionship of someone just accepting him & the emotional stability/ healing to forgive himself for not being what others want/expect, respecting himself enough to fight for himself unapologetically.

I am happy to see that I am not the only one thinking that the "get off my ship. Now." is underrated. To me, it proves that he is completely capable of being a captain of crew. Even though he lets them a lot of freedom, he still guards for respect of limits and protects them. He is a responsible man and I think that now his consciousness' problem is solved, he will fully bloom as a leader and the "lighthouse" needed by Ed

We’re now three episodes into season two and I need the serotonin boost again so I’m rewatching this. I love how at 1:08 Stede is trying his best to threaten that guy but he’s too cute to be taken seriously in this moment. Though he definitely threatens that one guy properly by the end of the season.
