He is a true performer... There are so many great great guitarist and singers but what he does, is amazing

@@Nairrrrrrr read the comment again. There’s a lot of great guitarist but Mayer is definitely in a league of his own musically. I’m a pretty good guitarist but I ain’t no songwriter like him. Belief, Gravity, SDIBR, his Hendrix covers the man truly is a virtuoso and I never seen someone move the market the way he does. I have more students ask me how to get a tone like his then just about anyone else lol

Look how much more lively the crowd is. One of the most energetic shows I went to was the rock in rio show like 7 years ago now. The Hollywood bowl and Nokia show was great too

He had a periscope where he talks about playing playing melodies without losing the rhythm by insinuating the chord changes without necessarily playing them explicitly when playing by yourself. Allows you to play a more full sound when playing solo. Definitely see that exhibited here.

I assume it was to help him transform from the "person" he was, and change his "old" ways. Do you know why exactly? It sucks though, man, for sure. This new group of musicians are talented, but lack the energy and the John Mayer swag. haha

+animeisballing1 I believe this was the first tour after having his vocal cords operated on. The guy didn´t even speak for many months, did not sing for almost a year. But slowly but surely his voice is getting stronger.

How did he do that bass effect in Neon?
He tuned his low E to a low C and did some crazy jazzy licks on the string :)
To even boost that bass even more, he probably increased the bass levels on his amps

+Hao Le Tuning down the low C is actually the starndard tuning for that song.
