Sometimes there is beauty in simplicity and in my opinion Sinn exemplifies that idea. it also sort of fulfills the notion of being everything you need and nothing that you don't.

You forgot to mention 1 important thing: This SW200-1 movement is the top-grade version. It runs at COSC specs without the COSC certification.

I might be in the minority, but this dial design appeals to my tastes. Like the Explorer 1 and the Smith's, the splash of red on the second hand brings this all together. Thanks for the great content.

I think you went a little low on the movement. Yes, a normal Sellita isn’t anything special, but the Sellita used in the Sinn is a “top grade” movement just one step away from being COSC certified. And it’s decorated a bit nicer than an average Sellita. On top of all of that, Sinn manually regulates each one. It’s a solid 8/10 movement for me.

  • @the.Aruarian
    @the.Aruarian ปีที่แล้ว +6

Gorgeous little watch, but for some reason the dial feels unbalanced to me. Just a little bit of writing above the 6 would've made it better for me. Especially with some red text.

I am new to watch collecting and purchased my 556 A RS last year from Watch-Buys which I believe is the only authorized US authorized dealer. I paid about $1700 for mine new. Just like my 10 year old 4Runner, the watch is reliable, functional and a classic. It’s all you need. For now…

Great video as always. Love the 556 and little known fact is that the Sinn’s cases are manufactured by its subsidiary SUG, and it doesn’t take a whole lot of research to discover who else SUG manufacture exceptional cases of high quality for, meaning the humble 556 has some very fancy cousins!

Contrary to most people commenting and yourself, I personally think the 556 is only an average watch for its price point and I owned one for two years. The finishing and build quality is only adequate, it has none of the tech of Sinns more expensive models, the dial is ultra basic, the lume performance is rubbish and the clasp is simply unacceptable for the price. Sinn has nearly doubled the price of the 556 within 6-7 years with absolutely zero improvements to any part of it. They've just sat on their arses doing nothing, while people harp on about what an amazing watch it is, when it really isn't.

I love Sinn. They are just original, quality, and no nonsense. They make tool watches - not pretend tool watches that are actually really just luxury trinkets (looking at you Omega / Rolex / Tudor etc). Rewind 40-50-60 years to the hayday of tool watches and those Swiss brands where killing it and the price was more akin to what Sinn go for in todays market (inflation adjusted). If you are after a proper tool watch to use as an actual tool you don’t buy an explorer, black bay, seamaster, super ocean, SEAQ etc (you buy those to have a luxury expensive timepiece with tool capabilities - there is a major difference). Instead you buy a Sinn - a Damasko - a citizen even.

Without trying to offend any person by name, I am not a fan of the person who decided to have the date complication but I am a fan of the person(s) who implemented it very small with white on black as does 'hide' well enough not to be too distracting and certainly it would not put me off. I have to agree that the red on the seconds hand really does make the dial pop more. I like the date display, you don’t really notice it till you need it. The clasp could be better as could the lume & Id happily pay more for these 2 things to be improved. There’s a gap that needs filling between a Sinn and a Rolex, Tudor nearly do that but at 3 times the price.

@Bartek M sure if you can't afford more, definitely go for a casio! Even a f91w my first watch as kid.

I love it but prices are too high all over. This should be priced at a thousand with the possibility to purchase it used for 500 (Dollars or Euro whatever). At the price range it stands today and myself unable to limit my collection to a single watch I can scratch the itch by spotting the Edifice EF-125. A surprising good watch in the Rolex Explorer style at €50.

Nice watch. I didn't realize that they had introduced some with colored dials, which looked interesting,

Not sure of your opinion on Islander watches, but they have a nice, similar looking watch for about $260 USD that is a great bargain - the ISL-54. Though it's a NH-35 movement in that one.

I actually dig a lot of details for this watch. But I just don’t like those hands.
Which is ironic as I love the aesthetic of it being inspired by instrument cluster dials.
But, I’m failing to see the price point value on this. Aside from the name and the movement, it feels very much like an $800 watch. Entry level. If anything it really feels like a brand that designed an entry level watch, had it blow up in sales and then kept raising the prices to a point where it fails to meet value anymore.
And while your version is nice, at the used price point you paid, it’s also super scuffed at that clasp.
But it’s a tool watch and maybe that gives it some charm (I actually kind of dig a little “wear” and patina on my watches when it comes along naturally).

I was a big fan of the company, ordered the 556a from the official website 2 months ago and I received a watch with loose caseback and the 'Helicopter rotor effect"
I send it back and got a refund.
Unfortunately Sinn is not what it was 10 years ago in terms of quality and poor qc
