At the risk of making things more complicated: How sure are we that the Master of Masters is/was-always a boy? Perhaps it's just the shared MoM acronym screwing with my brain, but Melody of Memories has me wondering. Yes, he's using a male voice, but disguising ones voice is probably not difficult magic/tech wise, so...
(And yes, the "Melody" in "Melody of Memories" is Kairi. Even knowing that, I'm still doubting)

@damo279 Is out possible that with either Sora or Yozora's defeat, there were two different timelines created, thus making two different games/stories? With everything leading to this and with your mention that Sora has never lost, I feel this could be a possibility, kind of like when Link won or lost against Ganon in Ocarina of Time

In Soul Reaver2 Kain said something like "you can flip a coin and it will land on either Heads or Tails, but what if you could flip a coin enough times that it will eventually land on the edge? important to note that even if the Master of Masters IS light, he can still be a bad guy/major antagonist. After all, Master Eraqus was channeling light in BBS when he tried to kill Ventus, and that was a wrong thing to do even if he was under the influence of light and not darkness.
    Light =/= Good

      @damo  4 ปีที่แล้ว +36

100% agree. Even if his actions were for the greater good, I don't think causing a universal apocalypse with only a handful of survivors could be considered a 'good' move. I want to see how they explain it though. If he had the potential to see the future, why did he set up the war rather than trying to fight against it? My idea has always been that he did try to fight it in at least one timeline, groundhog day style, but wasn't successful. I'll try and explain it one day, but this video has laid down some of the groundwork for future theories

@@damo I'm thinking it might be something like MoM wanted light to preserver no matter what and was willing to sacrifice almost anyone to do so. Since he can see the future it might be a thing like Dr. Strange in Infinity War where he saw millions of futures and only one where light survived. But maybe that would justify his actions too much...
regardless excited to see where your thoughts lead you next! I'd heard the "Master of Masters is Light" theory before but never with so much points of evidence backing it like in this video. I think now that this theory is much more viable than I did when I heard it the first time. Looking forward to future

    • @emperorofinception3571
      @emperorofinception3571 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

I have seen forms of fiction in which the Light is not always considered a positive just as Darkness is not always considered negative. One work of fiction I read, A character in one book I read warned the protagonist "Darkness is not always equated with evil, just as good is not always equated with light". In another book trilogy, I understand that the characters exist in a society where everyone lives in their own particular faction each with their own idea of how to eliminate evil and darkness from their lives through their own lifestyle. One character before they died actually realized that there is no perfect method to do this, no matter what method they try, it is only a matter of time before evil finds a way to slip in again. As later noted, the system they live in was caused by people who thought that they could find a way to remove the darkness in everyone's hearts. They intended to create a utopia, instead they made a beautiful mess and sadly it seems that they are still convinced that their method could work if they just tweak it a little when the mess they have created is fixed. For that matter, in this game we have seen people say that light exists even in the deepest darkness. Could it not then be implied that the opposite is true as well. Light and Darkness cannot truly exist or be defined without the other one. It seems that this discussion can be a metaphor for life itself in a sense, most things are in my experience a double-edged sword. Able to hurt or help depending in a variety of circumstances and intentions.

The latest story update doesn't confirm, but raises my suspicions on what kind of role the Master of Masters may take in the future.
For a while, we've known that the Master wants a bring an end to the conflict between light and dark, and now we clearly see he's willing to go to any limits to make that a reality. I'm definitely not the first one to suggest the series might head in the direction of showing the icky side of the light, but I want to paint a picture in a way that so far I don't think anyone has (though if this has been said before please let me know :p).
Think back to what Aqua said to Terra in Birth By Sleep: "what else is darkness but hate and rage?". It is true that harboring strong feelings of anger will make you vulnerable to the dark, and most of the characters thus far use the force of darkness that way, but it is a fallacy (or something? if it is I forget the name of it) to then conclude that hate and rage are all what darkness encompass. I'm reminded of the build surrounding firebending in Avatar: The Last Airbender. In their desire for conquest, they perverted the ability into one of hate and rage, and so the more one had, the better their firebending would be. Then came the book 3 episode that revealed firebending is actually about channeling the power of the sun as if it were inside you, and understanding that makes your firebending infinitely better. While it is a completely different series with completely different mythos, I would not be surprised if darkness in Kingdom Hearts wasn't all that different. I mean hell, Riku's strongest fighting abilities are rooted in the power of darkness, yet he's probably one of the coolest and calmest people in the series. If darkness was all "hate and rage", then it should logically follow that Riku cannot use its power, yet he can.
So then we have to ask: what actually *is* darkness? Not the sentient being we know as darkness, but what it actually is as a concept.
Like Damo said, darkness is the absence of light. But i think it goes a bit deeper: darkness, in practice, helps one make out details in what would otherwise be a vast, invisible expanse of light. Anything visible in a light miasma is cutting through it and casting a shadow. Some of that light is being reflected, refracted, absorbed, what have you; the point is, it's no longer straight light. There is a tinge of darkness, not enough to actually overpower it, but to make itself known. I think this is what darkness actually is in Kingdom Hearts: the ability to have shadows cast. People with massive hate and/or anger just happen to live in them. So what does that make light then? If Dark Road is any indication, it's to give the impression of peace and normalcy, regardless of whether it is real or not. Light can be used in the art of deception: it can misguide others and turn them away. It can masquerade the ugliest parts of someone's character simply with the power of impressionability. Kinda like how the light of Aqua and Ventus cast shadows on Terra. So, perhaps ironically, light's purpose is to illude, and darkness' purpose is to reveal.
Now what does this have to do with the Master of Masters and the Foretellers? Well, if we are running under the assumption that they are beings of light, just as Xehanort and his crew were beings of dark, then they actually set up a perfect parallel. They are so infatuated with the light that they start shitting on one another for not having _enough_ light, or starting to _doubt_ the power of light. It was never about darkness: that was just a side effect of wanting to protect the light so much. Heck, what good would a Power Bangle be if you don't want to be fulfilling a daily quota of Lux? I mean hell, think back to what young Xehanort said in Re:MIND: "People believe themselves to be moral and virtuous, but it's all just an act". It's the art of pretending that you're the good guy just because you're a strict adherent to the light. Hell, he could have lowkey been roasting Eraqus and how his obsession with keeping darkness out of his pupils' hearts cost him his life. If Xehanort and his lackeys represent what happens with a fanatic obsession with the darkness, then perhaps the Master and his pupils represent what happens with a fanatic obsession with the light.
So that's the way I think Kingdom Hearts is not just going to veer into a theoretical "Light Seeker Saga", but also paint the Master of Masters as an antagonist. Yeah, he had the noble goal of wanting to bring a permanent end to a conflict.....via a millenia long gambit that involves having one of his pupils become cynical through thousands of years of body hopping, the deaths of thousands of innocent people in several forms of war, several test of friendship and trust, and, if the Melody of Memory trailers are any indication, some form of child abuse. Note that I'm not trying to say the Master is "evil" or a "villain": he is just someone (or if you want to dig into rabbit hole theories, someTHING) working against the goals and aspirations of our protagonist Sora.
But now you might be thinking: "well wait: if Sora's goal in the next saga is to demonstrate to the Master why you shouldn't try extinguishing the darkness, wouldn't that best be achieved by actually using the power of darkness?". And the answer is yes. "But Sora has always been one to use light!". Also yes. But what good will that do? You can't fight fire with fire: Keyblade wielders tried that shit in x and look where that got them. Now yes, Sora has historically never voluntarily _used_ the power of darkness..... but he _has_ exposed himself to it. Setting aside Rage and Anti forms for a second, what did Young Xehanort accuse him of doing in Kingdom Hearts 3? Casting himself into the abyss, the same one that made his heart almost sink into *darkness* no less. The order for the Realm of Light was to never alter the past, and Sora flat out said he didn't give a fuck and changed it anyway. This man was fully content with the Realm of Light kicking him out (because boners yes, but that's beside the point lol).
I mean really, neither Xehanort nor the Master were "right": they were both selfish. Both decided that the world needed to be purged and reset because of the respective problems of light and darkness. Their conclusions were correct: their actions taken as a result of them were not. Now mind you, neither is Sora's, but in his own words, "There's a lot I don't understand, but I know this is all I can do right now". Think: if light and dark cannot exist without the other, what happens if _neither_ are present, or at the very least taking action against another? This is understandably very difficult to grasp because, while it is pretty clear now that all of the Master's machinations up to this point were to ultimately stop darkness, the jury is still out as to *why* this is the case. Like, why did Luxu need to body hop? Why did he need the black box? Why did he need to instigate _two_ Keyblade wars? Why was the black box ostensibly written out of continuity following the first Keyblade War? While the reason for this is obviously important.....ultimately does it really matter? Evidently no one else knows much about the universe aside from the Master, so like fuck they have the acumen to comprehend all of this pain and strife was for good intent (after all, as Xehanort said, it's far too easy to just dismiss what you do not comprehend). And maybe that's all they'll need to fight back. I mean, I never really thought Luxu was exempt from it either even before this update, considering he had orders from the MoM to wait for the "Dark Master" that the MoM *himself would groom into the position of wanting to instigate a second Keyblade War* (though he might have spoken to others in this time period, who knows). If the Master is really rallying up the toughest warriors in the multiverse, it stands to reason that he wants Sora and his invincibility against the darkness. It's up to Sora to show why he shouldn't.
I mean, isn't that the whole point to Dark Road? Showing how Xehanort, after seeing all the false light in the world, decided the world was better served by darkness? Or, at the very least, was in dire need of it?

Recordreader, I agree but I think darkness and light are powers that are opposite of each other, just like water powers are the polar opposites of fire powers. If darkness exists in anyone then darkness should be able to be used like light can be used. Mental and physical painin may in reality be the factor as to why riku and even Roxas can use darkness. Think about it, the opposite of happiness is sadness. Maybe the power of darkness comes from memories of pain and suffering. Remember that in kh3 Xehanort said that the weak create darkness. The weak could be those who are mentally or physically weak. Meaning those people that are more vulnerable to sadness, anger, and rage. Also remember that Sora's shadow became a heartless in his dream and words popped on the screen that said, the closer you get to light, the greater your shadow becomes", I think that can be said as, "the more good you are or the more light you have, the more bad you can become and the more darkness you might get." The more people you care about, the stronger you hatred and anger can become.

Random thought: Maybe the Master of Masters is so prone to seeming shifts in personality due to - in a way- existing all over time? Or at the very least seeing things, and this leads to personality shifts/some sort of sensory overload that leads to seeming random, but smooth enough shifts that they are capable of controlling them. No matter how powerful one is (unless you are akin to a deity/demon/other such being with a far greater mind than that of a human/time as a concept is experiences vastly differently) - If you can/are constantly on a whim being exposed to countless events you see with an eye no longer in your head...well, I know I would probably be equally as prone to shifting my personality (to accomplish things perhaps? Knowing what approach will work for what situation to achieve a desired outcome)....and probably go a bit mad in the process. Even if the ability can be toggled on/off, it would still be a really crazy rush of sensory data to gaze across the time line.
Of course the seemingly random personality shifts could just also be the Master of Masters being rather bored of knowing things in advance, and thus to alleviate the boredom they just mess about like that.
Whatever it is: Sooner or later....time will tell.

Yeah, we have to consider the possibility that the master isn't a faithful narrator. The only thing we have to go off is that the foretellers seem content with the books account of the future as they are experiencing it, up until the moment the traitor is revealed, and the events of the war itself that Luxu describes as occuring exactly as was written. But you're right, there's absolutely nothing that says he has to be honest the entire time. I didn't really drive the point home, but if the final line is "...darkness prevails ever more", that's what I'm trying to say is the trap for Darkness, and now it's 'trapped' in the future without any knowledge of the future. That's why it's possibly sending Maleficent out to retrieve the book now

@@damo I'm still not sure about the Dark Chirithy being Darkness. At one point he says something along the lines of 'the truth isn't something someone can tell you. It's what you learn for yourself,' which is suspiciously similar to the Master's own statement about 'the truth is what you see with your eyes, not what you hear.' If anything, that makes me believe the Master and Dark Chirithy are working together, though admittedly Similar Philosophy, Different Goals is probably a trope that exists.

The story is about a Temporal PARADOX. Kingdom Hearts story revolves around a paradox. The characters keep "respawning" and always wake up with some woman hanging over their head after they are sleeping. Laurium wakes up to Strelitzia above his head, Xehanort wakes up on Destiny Islands, Ventus wakes up to Aqua above his head, Sora wakes up to Kairi above his head. I think that we are dealing with a huge plan, something only a master of CHESS would really be able to understand. In chess you plan your moves in order to reach victory. Sometimes your actions could seem absurd to your opponent's eyes. Sometimes you even decide to sacrifice a piece that is thought to be relevant in the chess game.
If we assume that MoM is fighting against the darkness and that every action he took is done to save the light... Well, maybe everything that happened was meant to deceive Darkness, to fall right into his plans. So, he knew that Darkness was around, trying to steal his knowledge, trying to spy every move. And he made the perfect plan for it. He wrote a "false" Book of Prophecies and assigned roles to the Foretellers which did not 100% fit their personalities. He then chose the future Union Leaders knowing that Ava would have ended by disobeying his orders. He wrote the Book so that it would seem everything was happening as it was foretold, or with slight minor differences. He was AWARE that Darkness would have tried to take place of one of the Union Leaders. He even told the Foretellers that if someone would have fallen into Darkness they would have recognised it by looking at the Chirity's appearance. If we assume that MoM is fighting to save the world then he must have foreseen what Sora would have ended up doing, and then tried everything he could to make that happen. Thus, he chose to write the Book of Prophecies in that way so that Darkness would have believed that everything should stick to what is written in those pages.
An example: when Maleficent is "trapped" into the data world in the past, MoM knew that Darkness would have helped her escaping. He even wrote into the Book the way that Maleficent had to use to go back to the real world and that she would have succeeded in that. If his intention was really to trap her, why would you write in the Book the explanations on how to escape? I think it is all part of his plan: he USED Maleficent and Darkness, so that Maleficent escaping the past would have ended as a chance for the Dandelions to travel from the far away past into the present time too. So in the end, Darkness helping Maleficent became the way for the Dandelions to come back to the real world through the Ark, the only possible way for them (since they were not real Masters, as explained by Luxu in the secret reports).
To me it is logic that if MoM was fighting for the light he would have tried to do something not to let Darkness win in the end. So why writing a Book of Prophecies that ends with the failure of Light? Just for the sake of telling everyone that you were right? To me, it seems rather a way to make Darkness believe that that was the way to go. Instead, he knew that many different things and decisions would have been made so that the reality would have been different from the foretold ending. In the end, if people who loves the Light are told that Light will expire they have two options: surrender to fate or fight to change Destiny. And there has always been SOMEONE who would have accepted to go against ANY RULE in order to make Light prevail without caring of the consequences for himself... Sora.
HYPOTHESIS: Maybe MoM understood that in order to save the world Light needed the "power" from another world (timeline/reality/any way you wanna call it). And what happened in the end of KH3ReMind? When Yozoora is defeated by Sora (in the TRUE ending) he claims that "maybe HIS POWERS are not yet needed". Maybe everything in MoM's plan was done so that Yozoora and Sora would meet each others in the end. Maybe a new "connection" was needed in order to save not only the worlds that we know from the KH games but also some other world out there. Throughout the games Sora is always stating "my friends are my power". Maybe the need to create new bonds and to get more of this amazing power ("follow your heart, follow the connection") is the final plan that Light has in order to defeat Darkness. We know that the worlds are disconnected because of Darkness. Maybe the best way to defeat Darkness is to have someone like Sora who is incredibly capable of creating connections in every single world/heart. He can really be the KEY that connects them all. And maybe there was the need to let Sora go into the "different reality/worldline" so that he could meet the worlds on the "other side" and create connections with them as well.

Even though the only thing that makes me think is one of the final scenes in KH3 when Eraqus plays the "new game" where Sora is alone as the white king on the chess board and all the foretellers pieces are black and stand against him. @@Nyla_emotes It is an interesting theory, we will have to wait and see. I will state however that in chess to my understanding has a limited number of outcomes and moves that can be made. I would imagine that if this is the Master of Master's intentions, that he is playing a much more complex and dangerous game. I would also point out that a number of people have been assuming that the game that Eraqus and Xehanort are playing in KH3 is them manipulating events and to some extent throughout the games they do influence things, but at the same time the game they are playing is a metaphor for light and darkness. I should point out that unlike in chess, the pieces are capable of making their own choices and moving outside of the wishes of those who consider themselves the ones playing the game. Therefore he cannot be certain if the pieces he is arranging will move the way he wants or if they will choose their own path. If this is the case, then I wonder what Darkness will do. I presume that this character will have some kind of relevance just as I expect that Maleficent, Pete, the Fortellers, and everyone else who has been significant in these fames still have a part to play. There is the possibility that Darkness could decide to stop assuming that the prophecies are completely accurate. As a rule, I take prophecies and things regarding fate and destiny with a pinch of salt since the individuals themselves fulfill or refute these things with their own decisions. These are just my own thoughts of course. I don't mind the super long comment, you should see some of the doozies I have written. I talk now and again with a few friends and each of us could write an essay on our opinions at times.

The Master of Masters as a being of light could be possible, remember we saw Strelitzia in that white coat in Lauriam's dream, so he could some how be related to that.
Also im not sure if anyone has ever said so but me and my brother have a theory that the world of Verum Rex is actually Data Daybreak Town in the present time, because Verum Rex seems to focus a lot on technological weapons, Yozora can steal Sora's Keyblade and has keyblades etchings on his shoulders so it seems he has some potential to use one in some way, also because you get the Wreck it Ralph Link Summon when you enter the Verum Rex mini game in the ToyBox which we know that Data Daybreak Town is connected to Ralph's world. And if you check the billboards in Shibuya there is a billboard that mentions vacation spots and has a picture of Destiny Islands, so im assuming Data Daybreak Town is still one big massive world all connected instead of being multiple smaller worlds like we are use to in the regular world.

That “alternate” Shibuya is the Shibuya from the game The World Ends With You. Not sure if you knew because you didn’t specify, but the characters all appeared in DDD. The 10-4 building was an important part of the game and I’m think that what it represents, the “beginning” or “starting over again and again”, would mean something for Sora. It could represent the start of the new game or that he’s finally in the real world, although TWEWY didn’t technically take place in its own canonical “Realground”, or RG, but in the “Underground”, UG.

Noctis Lucis Caelum of the Final Fanyasu VERSUS XIII timelime IS the MoM. When I worked on the canceled project, we all knew.
We all knew why the same Japanese voice actor for Versus was scheduled (at the time) for KH4.
We all know why Ray Chase is the voice of the MoM for KH4 and Verum Rex.
Noctis Lucis Caelum of the Versus XIII timeline (which is the 'real world', or actually called the World of the Dead in the Japanese trailer or KH4) *IS* the Master of Masters.
He established Orginization 13 before the tineline of Lightning Returns took place. Right before it actually.
His eternal mission: locate the soul of Stella, use all the souls gathered within' what is called the Kingdom Hearts, in the world of fiction (Sora and Verum Rex is the "real world' retelling of the Versus Epic, all that fell into the Abyss of a Worlds, the location deep below the fantasy worlds of Disney, where all deleted timelines go) -- get Stella's soul, use the souls of the KH to empower her own to open Etro's Gate, and merge the worlds of the Living and the Dead into one.
The moment and place she will do this was shown all the way back in secret movie after KH2 (or was it 1?) When all the shadows are running up a building, fighting the robed figure to the top of the Insomnian buildingz which just so happens to be the same location shown where the brunette, Verum Rex, videogame version of Stella opens Etro's Gate, collapsing the entire city into.a singularity, as the process was not completed before a Gigas Magitek Giant grabbed her. (These represent Niffelheim in their world).
All of this is going to happen and the MoMz a Noctis, was setting his framing of the shot with his hands, above Shinjuku, foretelling the time and place she will do it, which is turn happened to be the roof of the Square Enix building in that reality.
None of this is theory or headcanon. This is what is happening. This is what is going to happen.
And Noctis, the MoM, made absolutely sure Sora completed his Focus and entered Crystal Stasis, being transfered to this World of the Dead, the real world, to make sure he helps Sora make this eternal mission happen.
Each time it fails, the MoM will open the box take out the script (The Book of Prophecies to unliving beings) and start the process again, just like he did in Type-0, which he appeared in his golden armor, hovering at the very end.
All worlds and games and stories are all canonically written for Noctis and Stella to complete the goal of Etro. They are not L'cie, bit literal Fal'cien gods, and they will make sure Etro is reborn from Chaos, and is able to make a path from the world of of the Living, to the Invisible World, the place where Myuinn (Etro's mother) resides.
She is also the logo of Fabula Nova Crystallis.

Love the video!!! Your idea of Darkness taking the form of Dark Chirithy is brilliant and fits perfectly into place!! And Im always a sucker for MoM analyses LMAO
I suppose Im not entirely sold on MoM being like a pure representation of the light, not saying he isn't related, but that he may not be it's purest form! For the moment at least, I still believe he's human like the others, however more akin to a Princess of Heart in the sense that he was born INTO the world when it was nothing but light. The war started when he was a boy, so there was a while before where he lived his life assumingly like any other and then Darkness flooded in. I'm still not entirely sure what to make of his comment on his fellow wielders whom he fought with in the initial war, but I like to think they were peers for the moment. However that begs the question of what on earth happened to them? And I think that, while not necessary to the lore, is something rlly interesting to speculate about and an answer is easier to find than you'd think! It's simple "if x is true then y must also be true in order for x to exist" stuff. I mean, the Master of Masters is, well, THE Master of Masters. He runs Daybreak Town, the absolute heart of keyblade wielders and where most typically stem from--same as when it turns to Scala. But that begs the question, WHY is it the hub? Why aren't there other masters out in the world training wielders to keep the light alive? Well let's look at it from Darkness's POV--if you fail a battle, and your enemy lives on to potentially train an even larger army to work against you, what would be the best way to stop that?
You destroy the knowledge at its source. The MoM's peers who fought Darkness in its original form at the very beginning are gone, and now the only one left still with memory of that fight is the MoM himself. Passing that knowledge down could be IMPERATIVE to defeating Darkness, so I can easily imagine that'd put a pretty big target on the guy and his original peers. In Dark Road, while only one island is being used in Scala, all of them were at some time. Which means there was a large boost in wielders, then they were all killed again. It's a pretty big graveyard we see in Dark Road. Snuffing out potential wielders is just the next logical step for darkness--especially getting rid of the MoM. The MoM in REMind said that he's too much of a "scardy-cat" to take off his coat, and we know it wards off darkness in all forms. But what if it also protects him in the sense that his heart, full of light, can not be used against him as practically a tracking beacon. The coat acts as like, a wall--no darkness can get in and no light could get out. It'd also explain why Luxu got an extra coat considering his role--arguably the most important one. It'd be imperative to ensure his safety and that he couldn't be tracked either in those early years.
But anyways, the MoM. I think he's still human. A bit of a special case given the period he was born into, but human nonetheless. Also I think it'd be a nice narrative to show that this guy who has been placed upon dozens and dozens of pedestals since his introduction is just as human and prone to mistakes as the others. His actions and behavior in terms of how he regards himself I think can be more attributed to the sin he himself represents--Superbia, aka Pride. Being as clever as he is and revered as he is would certainly lead to an overinflated ego, and not only that but the feeling that only /he/ is capable to completing this plan which may be why he doesn't really communicate his plan to anyone. He's trying to grab the bull by the horns and honestly I think the guy himself is a ticking time bomb just as much as Daybreak Town was. Just knowing the series, I really feel like something is definitely going to go wrong in this new timeline, something even he can't account for. And he is DEFINITELY an "ends justify the means" type of guy. He's been fighting for so long that his fight against the Darkness is practically what defines him. So what happens when his ability to properly do that start slipping? When the strong front he's put forth starts to crack? When he starts to reach in desperation for ANY kind of control over the situation?
His fight is gonna be an absolute bitch but I for one cannot WAIT to beat some sense into the man. Tf is starting wars and ripping ur family apart to get a chance at destroying Darkness??? Bro I'll kill u. But LMAO anyways this is rlly rambly and sorry for it being all over the place!!! I'm working on my own video on the whole MoM topic so hopefully that'll be way more coherent haha! Either way hella excited for where this series goes and I look forward to your future videos on all this as well!!! All of this was rlly good and the whole idea of the MoM just absolutely ripping the rug out from under darkness with the fake BoP is hilarious LMAO
Best of luck in production !!!

This is a great video! I think The Master is someone who just wants peace for not only the universe but for himself. He's a person who wants everything to be perfectly balanced with light and darkness all the time and Sora is the key to all of this. If a ordinary boy like him can inspire so many people and defeat darkness based enemies despite being "ordinary" he (and maybe The Master) can lead a bunch of special "ordinary" people (Their version of the Avengers essentially) to end this seemingly endless dispute between light and darkness. This might not be right seeing how the lost masters are the antagonists of phase 2, but I like to believe that the MoM means well. I mean look at his actions he looks like he wants to have a fun yet intellectual time with the "crown" chess piece.

WAIT YOZORA WENT THROUGH TRIALS?! WAIT I KNOW WHAT THEY ARE. So minor(?) spoilers for The World Ends With You, but that’s the Shibuya Sora and Yozora is in. That means that the Reaper’s Game is there. The Reaper’s Game is a game where the dead get a second chance at life, and they are definitely trials. Each day for a week you get a task to do, and if you complete all of the tasks without getting “erased” by the Noise, then you can come back to life. I’m assuming Yozora’s very last task, the most important one and usually the one where you must erase the Game Master, was to “Save Sora”. This means that Yozora and/or Sora is either very much so dead, erased, or some other in-between. It’s confirmed that Sora isn’t technically in a state of “whole”, but it’s not confirmed whether he’s still alive or not. But Yozora may very well be dead.

Is it possible that the realm of darkness is actually the original world where the master of masters and the fore tellers are from? The one where all the worlds were one, and that’s the reason that Aqua sees Cinderella’s castle and snow whites cottage, not because they fell to darkness from her wold but because they were the originals that where consumed by darkness after the ‘2nd Keyblade war’ set off by the fore tellers. And all the heartless there are the people from that original world? Just an idea but I thought it was an interesting concept.

I think people overthink these time-travel quips because in the end story keeps going. All this lore-nonsense does not really matter that much since story doesn't really do anything interesting with it. People keep making these speculations about lore because there really isn't anything else, mostly dry plot explanation. For a series about hearts it lacks heart.
Still, if Sora would actually be the masters of master then that lore nonsense might even have some merit cause it has lead some actually interesting drama. Sora becoming somewhat unhinged due unknown time in loneliness and world-hopping unable to return home just to play some Xanatos gambit is crazy stuff which series should have done more in its past. Let's just hope Nomura focuses more on making actual characters than overexplaining lore-devices which can be just summarized with hearts, darkness and stuff. When interesting narrative is combined to lore-mechanics, people do not even care if things won't always make sense. There really is no need to understand this lore cause it's mostly vague. Sometimes not knowing everything is better.

I do genuinely believe you're right about there being a team of unbeatable heroes. Yozora screams franchise protagonist, he's designed to the teeth and has been given his own American teen sensation turned voice actor.
Why else introduce World Lines this late in? Why else tease this character extensively in the game's most anticipated Disney level (for casual fans, the majority of KH players), as well as in loading screens?
Why else have him recite Sora's debut line? The same line that opens the ENTIRE FRANCHISE?
and finally, regardless of who wins the fight, the game ends the same way, with the only difference being a voice clip. I don't think either won, i believe this will be shown to have been a tie, and the added detail in the victory outcome is simply a gameplay reward for having the steel nuts to beat Yozora.

I think the issue with the concious effort to change the future can be understood when we understand the difference between destiny and determinism. The master of master's knew the 'destiny' of what would happen in that he knew the ultimate end result of all events from kingdom hearts chi up to kingdom hearts 3. The events leading up to this weren't all set in stone but the MoM seemed to know that regardless the end result would be the same. It would be determined if all events and the end would be set in stone but that doesn't seem to be the case. I think this is how the master could know the future and plan for things like Ava trying to change it simultaneously

  • @temetyly
    @temetyly 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

Something that I think gives further credence to your take is the "May your heart be your guiding key" pathos that MoM instills in the leaders. It's what causes Ava to make her move, and is super prominent in guiding Aced in his actions to (and a lot of attention is drawn to it during the fight) .
The phrase even gets passed on to our modern crew through Merlin, the lineage, and guides Sora and crew explicitly- to me, it seems like a failsafe, the MoM trusting that the light in the wielders hearts would guide them to make the correct long-term decisions. (Makes me think to Soras proclamation at the end of KH1 to 'Ansem', that the heart is light)
Again that makes one wonder the intended purpose of the Book of Prophecies from the MoMs perspective - perhaps the phrase is an acknowledgement of the fluidity of the future and the fact that MoM knows that things might deviate from the Book outlining the natural order of the future given Darkness's involvement .

I'm glad you brought this up! It seems like such a sinister line in hindsight, I probably should have included it in this video but it's something I wrote into an earlier version of the script and then sorta forgot to work into this one. But yeah it absolutely solidifies to me that the Master already knows how these peoples hearts are going to lead them, so he instills upon them to listen to their hearts for guidance.

Watch the MoM be a person of a completely different dimension or a “parent” dimension of both reality and unreality. Maybe the MoM originated from a world which everything was united but the key blade war broke the universe into fragments and the MoM has been using the KH universe with sora and gang in it as a sort of mock key blade war to see how it shatters realities. Then he uses this info to bring his original world back

The only niggling query I have at the end is MoM being Light themselves seems to be incompatible with his having been a boy once right?
When Darkness 'possesses', it seems to act with sentience, not just as an influence on the host, and I'd imagine a light counterpart to have to use the same mechanics (though it does seem reasonable to me that there would be some kind of light counterpart - though it could also be manifested differently- in our collective hearts for example - a furtive pygmy vibe if you're into Dark Souls-like we are all collectively light, broken up, and that's why letting your heart be your guiding key is to move for light ultimately) .
How exactly MoM could be an agent of light is intriguing to me - light shining when he says his name has to be significant somehow though.

It has been my theory since Back Cover, that Sora is the MoM. Im almost confident now he is darkest timeline MoM. Not only, but part of kingdom hearts itself. Its why he is connected to all hearts, and it his largest strength, he has created all universes and hearts. He has created everything from chirithys to dream eaters. He wrote the book of prophecies based on his life. Think about this, the keyblade war began when he is a kid, he had no master. In KH3 he started the path of hubris to get Kairi back, suddenly but per usual, power spiking, bending time and sacrificing parts of himself in using the power of waking. I think he removes his darkness (vanitas), his sins (foretellers) on his path to getting back to Kairi and restoring/fixing things he started. Most likely, The Sora we play as eventually faces him, and resets/ restarts time. To your point of it being as simple as Light/ Darkness and then manifesting physically as the 7/13 is great, and i frankly see it fitting into puzzle easily. Sora being the next manifestation of the light. Much love, thanks for the work to enjoy.

I truly agree with that theory that Darkness had to go to the future to fulfill the destiny in the BoP. The Master is sly, and it was always curious on why he only gave Luxu the black coat, but it definitely seems like he wanted to make sure that his apprentices made it to the future. Its kind of fucked up that he led his followers to their demise just to make them fight the Darkness again.

I am not sure I am convinced that Dark Chirithy and Darkness are the same person. For one thing I don't believe that Strelitzia was killed at the same time that Player and Skuld are fighting Dark Chirithy. But more likely either the day before, or anywhere to a week before.
For one thing the reason that Player and Skuld are in that house talking to Gula in the first place is that Ava has been missing for days and they need to find her or some of the Dandelions are going to leave. Which means Ava has been looking for Luxu for days before she finds him. Which means that she had already given away her five rule books before that. Even if she give Strelitzia her rulebook last there has to be at lest three days between the time that Strelitzia saw her and the time that the bell rang. This would also give Ventus two days before the bell without seeing Ava because as far as I can tell all the Dandelions agree that Ava had been missing for days.
Secondly Strelitzia never hears the bell at all. She never talks about it. Sure Elrena's Chirithy talks about seeing Strelitzia's Chirithy before the bell rang. However that could only mean that it was somewhat close to the time, or that they didn't see the other afterward. We have no idea how Chirithys measure time. Still this tells us that the bell ringing is something that the dandelions use to measure time, things happen before the bell and after the bell. However by Strelitzia never talking about the bell and never hearing it I have to say that her death most likely happened before the bell.
Lastly I must talk about the state of the door to the house. When Skuld and Player leave it to fight nightmare Chirithy they leave it closed. When they come back to talk in front of the door it is still closed. Yet both Strelitzia and Ventus leave the door wide open. Which means that the death could not have happened between the time that Skuld and Player left the house and the time that they come back to talk in front of the door.
It does leave why does Strelitzia's Chirithy think that they see Player go into the house as unanswered but that could be as simple as Ventus being under a illusion to look like Player. After all there does seem to be a very shady person using illusions in this game, and because they are using illusions it is unclear if we have ever seen this person's true face.
Still besides the fact that I just don't believe that the killer is Dark Chirithy I really like your theory. I really like the idea that there are beings of darkness and beings of light, that might not be all the way human. And I have been playing with the idea ever since the talk MoM had with Luxu, maybe even before though it was really more fan fiction then theory at that point. I do believe that there is at lest one other element, though over time I have started to think that there might be seven elements. All of whom have beings that embody what they are.
I also really like your idea that a dark being saw the Book, and that is why it killed Strelitzia. When you combined that with Brian both reading the book all the time and then claiming that he has never even opened the book we have a character that is pretending to be someone he is not who is also very interested in what the book has to say. That said I have a hard time believing that Brain hasn't noticed that there is someone pretending to be him around his friends so whoever it is must be someone that Brain trusts. Which means it is most likely Ava and not the killer. Ava would also really want to know if the small changes she made had made the book rewrite itself.
So there Darkness likely isn't Ava as she is busy trying to be Brain most of the time. Though it is also true that if Ava was sometimes Brain that she has to have gone missing at some point because otherwise Brain would just ask Ava for help with his detective work. So after she reread closely maybe a few times, she leaves. With either the answer that the Book changes or the book only tells a single timeline. She then goes off to do Ava things, which means we really have no idea what she is doing. Meanwhile the killer most likely kept stealing Ventus' rule book whenever he put it down before realizing it was a rule book and not the Book. Which explains why Ventus could only get the bare bones of what the rule book said before his first meeting with the other new leaders. Then the Killer goes off and does Killer things which most likely have to do with calling themselves Darkness and trying to get Maleficent out of the Unchained world network and back into the future for some reason.
Also we have no idea where Luxu is. However he most likely is in a place where he can watch everything, and write it down in is Journal. Which means we have three people whose don't know exactly where they are and who have the power to do some very dangerous things if they put their mind to it. It might even be four people.
On a brighter note I think that Sora is most likely going to become a embodiment of an element before the end of the series. Well if he isn't one already. Riku is likely going to become one as well, after all everyone is always unsure of just how Riku is able to use darkness the way that he does even the other characters that use darkness. Kairi is already an embodiment and I have to question if she is really a Princess of Heart. She doesn't act like a princess of heart, she somehow changes Sora's heart back into a Sora shape which none of the others show even a hint of that kind of power, and she doesn't give up her light when beings with evil intentions know that she is a pure light and want to use her for evil things, which the other princesses do. Which makes me think that she is just a natural being of light, and not a princess of heart that protect one of seven lights that are important but not really who they are.
Well I could likely come up with more to say but I am starting to get a bit far from what your video was about. I really like your thoughts on MoM, and think that some of your points are really good. I look forward to seeing more videos like this in the future.

    Wait.
We don't know exactly why Vanitas looks like Sora, right? Vanitas looked like Sora before Ventus' heart made contact with Sora's heart. If Darkness and Light directly contrast each other, and one cannot exist without the other, and if the MoM is Light and Darkness is Vanitas, who looks just like Sora, then Sora is likely the Master of Masters.
Sora is the light and Vanitas is the dark. Darkness is Vanitas and the MoM is Sora, maybe?

Indeed. We've always assumed the "Darkness" was merely just another force in the KH universe, like the "Light". However, it appears it to be more complex than what we were led to believe. I have wondered for awhile, if Darkness may turn out to be a strange, and mirrored form of life. The antimatter to Light's matter, as it were. Because of this video I now have a new viewpoint on who the MoM is. I think he may be a grown Ventus. Hear me out. Okay, so the whole story is the battle between light and dark it would make sense that Ventus and Vanitus would represent that.
The keyblade war that MoM speaks of beginning when he was just a boy is in my opinion the one from UX (the darkness taking shape as them in darklings.) (MoM may have even written a partially incorrect book of prophecies) He knew that Ventus would be one of the Dandelions, not because he wrote it, but because he remembers it. Darkness may have taken hold of young Ven because it was a familiar place for it.
It could also explain why Xehanort chose Ven as an apprentice, recognizing him from when they met when Xehanort was a teen. In KH3, "when light expires" Ven literally dies for a bit with everyone else.
As for how he would have gone back in time, going by the "a version of yourself must be waiting" and if light and dark always existed, than the hop backwards should be simple.
My last point is that the upside down hand movement MoM does in the secret ending could point to how Ven and Vanitus often seem to be backwards/upside down of each other (their station of awakening, Ven holding the keyblade upside down, or just the name of the Unversed)
Hopefully I didn't miss any points, it just came to the top of my head lol.

I would be willing to bet that the Book of Prophesies that Ava was given was different from the rest and that it said she would give the book to Strelitzia in order for her to act against what was written hoping that by giving it to Brain she would alter the future. However this was the whole point, if the Master of Masters really saw the future through his keyblade than he likely saw Ava going against the Book of Prophesies so gave her a version that would insure the result he had seen.
