My thoughts exactly! Whether it was before or after the story takes place the two of them grew close, it wouldn't surprise me if they had fun and decided to dork around
It's a picture of Link using the Shadow Clone Jutsu to have a shadow clone take a picture of him and Zelda post-game, after the entranceway to the Great Plateau was cleared and Zelda did a ritual to purify the Temple of Time. This is just them goofing off afterwards.
Fun fact, if you take a picture of the final memory while in the hut, you will actually pull out your Sheikah Slate and look at it when you find the spot. While if you don't do that you will just think hard then the cutscene will start. Know this because on my first playthrough I did this.
I took a picture of it before it was revealed to be the final memory since I figured it might be relevant later. I was surprised when the Sheika Slate came out and showed it, as I remember when taking it no special information about it came up on the camera rune.
What if it was a "new memory" that was going to be in a cutscene of Link and Zelda at the end, just goofing off after beating Ganon? It would help Link's outfit make sense, even if Zelda's doesn't quite fit
I think so too, the post 120 shrines cutscene might’ve been of Zelda and Link having fun around Hyrule. Since from Maz Koshia we see that most of the Yiga Clan’s abilities are taken from the Sheikah, maybe this would’ve been depicting Impa or another character from Kakariko teaching Link a special technique while Zelda tries to surprise him
My other theory was that this was a memory of the hero and princess from 10,000 years ago stored within the Sheikah Slate itself, it’d make sense if the wild set and the slate was owned by this past hero
@Kristopher Dreemurr yeah the devs said that this is the most expressive link they've made so it isn't really out of character. Remember in the game when your taking photos link can do so many different poses
@Kristopher Dreemurr - also if this is finally after Zelda's apology and the time in her diary musing that he CAN talk a lot, I can see them sharing a fun moment like this. Especially if Zelda herself spoke of being tense or wishing she could just relax and enjoy herself. As he takes his service seriously, he would gladly take part in a playful pic
Basically what everyone said and Nintendo of America is a bunch of dicks who took away Link's personality which we saw more of in the adventure logs, which were actually his diary. In Japanese the logs have link's thoughts, comments, etc., and is in his POV. Plus, they messed up some voice dialogue too. Not surprising since they have a bad translation reputation.
I’m guessing it was just a joke for the devs factually, but canonically, I had the odd, stray thought that it might have been the Link and Zelda that we don’t know, the ones from 10,000 years ago, just goofing off. Maybe they took the picture then and, when the slate was found by the Royal Family and Impa & Co., it was secretly still sitting there really deep in the files. That would explain the Tunic of the Wild, since it’s 100% possible he had one of his own, which further explains the difference in coloring and slight design change between the one in the picture and the current one.

I imagine he accquired this skill trying to gain Impa's blessing to hook up with Paya, showing that after her passing he will be able to help Paya lead the clan.
I think that this image shows Link trying to learn how to use his ability to slow down time, similar to the memory in the rain where he was training with his sword. This pose is often used to show that someone is trying to concentrate really hard. In Daruk's training journal he wrote the following: "The little guy is also incredibly strong! Zelda is smiling and looks like she's about to spook him, which makes me think that this was a late memory that was supposed to show how their relationship has changed and that Zelda isn't uncomfortable around him anymore, but happy and palyful.
This would have had to have taken place sometime after the game though, as Link is seen wearing the Hero of the Wild set. The set you get for beating all 120 base game shrines. It could be possible that this was supposed to be a special cutscene for beating all 120 shrines, however.

No idea what to upload this weekend, might be another BotW video, or another theory from a different Zelda game. Either way, have a great week! Oh yeah; and I almost forgot...it's possible that the picture is also of some scrapped ability Link would have learnt from the Sheikah/Yiga? The pose is strikingly similar to the latter, so who knows... 😉
Yeah I'm sorry I can't agree with you on this one. You need to remember that there was supposed to be a third DLC. The third DLC was turned into breath of the wild too because they had too many ideas. This was supposed to be available after the defeat of Calamity Ganon. Before the second half of the game and what would be expanded to become breath of the wild 2 begins. It's kind of obvious go back and remake the video you know better
@@briandoe5746 here's a thought. Did it come from the original files of the DLC files? If it came from the original, then I think it's safe to say that it really is a scrapped ending
Maybe instead of being a memory from prior his 100 year slumber, it was meant to be a photo seen in the end credits of Link and Zelda goofing around while Link is in the Hero of Wild set that would only appear if you aquired the said set. Like a secret bonus for those dedicated enough to complete every shrine. However, that ended up being cancelled due to how this photo doesn't end up showing in the end credits. That's my theory.
Man that's a brilliant idea, imagine if there were photos of Link and Zelda goofing around post-game where Link wears every full set you own while the credits roll, and if you missed out on one full set then that photo doesn't show up or appears as blank
Personally I would have liked the game to have more memories, like remembering something after Kass sings the final song when he returns to Rito village
This is crazy, I thought it was photoshopped!! Could you imagine if this *was* forgotten memory? Zelda: Link do you remember when I obliterated that moblin with a rasengan? Link: A What!?!
Well, Zelda did try to make Link eat a frog. Dressing him in the classic robes and making him try to learn Yiga magic sounds like something she would totally do.
I feel like this image was a memory could’ve been for dlc which was repurposed into the sequel. Just a fun little epilogue memory after all the other memories and shrines.
i'd like to think that Link wanted to do the teleport thing that the yiga clan does by copying their hand movements. Zelda saw Link, noticed he was very focused, and decided to sneak up and scare him. Hilarity ensues
All the other memory pictures are presumably taken by Zelda herself, hence why she doesn't appear in them. But in she *is* in pict_013. That combined with Link's Yiga pose makes me think this may actually be a group of Yiga Clan members in disguise, who somehow got a hold of the Sheikah Slate and started messing around with the camera.
1:05 actually no, there are still 2 flowers there. If you noticed they moved the one in line with the other. You can see them swaying in a different pattern. They are just close and look like one flower.
@@jenniferchough yeah all he need to do to see they only moved them is go in game as the cutscene is just a prerecorded version of the same area (sad as I prefer in game footage as it makes upscaling the game easier in the future). The 2 flowers are still there in game as well. He just needs to be a little more observant. 🔍🧝♀️
Not to mention if you have played the actual game and gotten to this point you will notice there are always two flowers to the left and one to the right. They consistently respawn this way even after harvesting them.
It looks to me kind of like a fun "bonus image", perhaps it was at one point intended to pop up at the end of the credits if you'd hundred-percented the game.
I've literally been watching a bunch of your videos for the past few days, including just now, because I'm ready for more BOTW2 content. I was pleasantly surprised when I refreshed my TH-cam and saw you post a video 5 minutes ago! Can't wait to see what this is about.
In Age of Calamity, playing Impa’s burst allows the player to see a small cutscene where Impa preforms the hand gesture seen in the picture to summon her symbols. Furthermore, the Yiga clan is the rebelled Shiekah that didn’t want to serve the Princess. Maybe Link was learning ancient Shiekah magic?
Have you considered this IS in the past and was before Link officially became a royal knight? That simply because the clothes were in a shrine doesn’t mean he didn’t have access to the clothes themselves at one point, say, before he had a uniform of some sort? We know his family had a past with the royal family so it wouldn’t be out of question for Zelda to be with him in that period.
I like to think it was meant to be some sort of "True Final Ending" when you get 100% completion of the game, and it shows you moments of complicity between Link and Zelda on their journey to rebuild Hyrule.
Could be, but on the planned sequel they seem to be using the blue clothes. Can also mean that Link binged on Naruto and since he saw Koga doing those movements, he thought he could do something like the shadow clones and been testing ever since, and Zelda is making fun of him because of that.
I just thought it was an additional reward for getting all 120 shrines aside from the Tunic of The Wild. You know, similar to getting the secret envelope from Simon after completing the Compendium, but instead you would get this secret picture after completing all 120 shrines. I don't know how you would obtain it, but just my thought....
More than anything I’m more interested in the old design of the Tunic of the Wild. It’s brighter and cooler looking than the newer design and is reminiscent of its design in Master Works / Creating a Champion
This could’ve been a memory before link became a champion. Maybe the image was taken on the day or sometime before he became a champion and he was doing something with Zelda on the great plateau.
The picture looks like link is about the do shadow clone jutsu Edit: Turns out, the hand sign that link is doing is not shadow clone, it more closely represents shadow possession jutsu or like what others have said on this comment, the Kakashi thousand years of death. I am merely here to deliver factual and correct comment on my favorite Zelda theorist video. Edit (2): Holy crap, thank you eveybody, I have never gotten this many likes on a comment. If you want to support me more, my dad said he would buy me a pc if I get 1k subs with no videos. So plz sub
It's literally just "Zai" handsign of Ninja meditation. Given the fact that you need all 120 shrines to get that tunic, I'd argue that was tied to a sort of "100% Completion bonus" cutscene at the end of the game. Likely Link, donning his new clothes as the Hero of Wind, given to him by the Shiekah, and meditating, after all, pretty much EVERYTHING you do in BotW is related to the Shiekah, Hyrule's resident ninjas, I would argue Link would probably take a moment to train under Impa, who would obviously teach him the Shiekah handsigns for meditation purposes. I'd argue, the original reward for all 12 memories wasn't the "true" ending beforehand, that was a given, instead, the reward was a cute little scene in the past, involving Zelda spoiling Link's meditation training in the past. And originally, Link was going to wear the Tunic of the Wild either from the outset, or in the past.
I think in that case rather than a scene in the past it would have been part of the Epilogue scene if you killed "Ganon" after getting the 12 memories and all 120 shrines to show Link continuing to practice meditation as he and Zelda rebuild and now that Zelda has lost the weight of her "destiny", she's more playful and relaxed

everyone says zelda looks playful and like she's sneaking up on link in this, but honestly she almost seems... condescending in a way, and her body language to me suggests she's talking or explaining something. here's an alternative theory - what if it IS a memory or cutscene, but it's the yiga clan having tried to impersonate zelda and link? and as I've seen some suggest in the comments, the wild set could have been a placeholder outfit for link, before switching to the blue champions tunic. that screenshot could be "link" and "zelda" having been caught and preparing for a fight.

@Arenzen and you just cracked the code. It’s possible it was an inside joke amongst the developers joking about his Link would go into a thousand year slumber or 1,000 years of death

It kinda looks like they're mimicking Nabooru's and Darunia's sage stances to me.
"Stand back Zelda, I'm gonna jutsu this guy"
"You hear that? He's gonna JUTSU you! What are you gonna do about it?"
Hope you guys enjoy the grand return to BotW videos!....Although that might not be the case haha.
😉
Ok
NintendoBlackCrisis or maybe something else 😏
Not gonna lie, I've never seen that image until now
Yeah I'm sorry I can't agree with you on this one.

In the past we tried so hard to analyze Da Vinci's paintings
Today we trying so hard to analyze unused file in a game.
when you think about it we still analyze da vinci's work,
I hope someday we're still analyzing video games from 600 years ago
Da Vinky
Maybe at one time in development, it was a “Thanks for playing” screen/Easter egg after the true ending and all 120 shrines
Yeah, that's what it struck me as. Sort of like the ending images in Smash Bros.
That sounds likely =D
This is crazy, I thought it was photoshopped!!
Could you imagine if this *was* forgotten memory?
Zelda: Link do you remember when I obliterated that moblin with a rasengan?
Link: A What!?!
Link Naruto running oh god
"why do i hear boss music?" lmao that joke gets me to sub haha
Well, Zelda did try to make Link eat a frog. Dressing him in the classic robes and making him try to learn Yiga magic sounds like something she would totally do.
Triforce Style: Sealing Jutsu!
I feel like this image was a memory could’ve been for dlc which was repurposed into the sequel. Just a fun little epilogue memory after all the other memories and shrines.
This comment is so underrated that makes so much more sense
@@arowyn.m yeah
Imagine this was just the result of one of the workers messing around and the others just never took it out of the files or never found it
i'd like to think that Link wanted to do the teleport thing that the yiga clan does by copying their hand movements.
Or maybe Link was just pretending to be a yiga
1:05 actually no, there are still 2 flowers there. If you noticed they moved the one in line with the other. You can see them swaying in a different pattern. They are just close and look like one flower.
Oops just saw this and made the same comment lol. But yes, totally right.

1. A ghost
2. Actually there
it looks like the one scene in age of calamity where kohga says ‘i cant split you’re my best lackey.’
It looks to me kind of like a fun "bonus image", perhaps it was at one point intended to pop up at the end of the credits if you'd hundred-percented the game.
it would be funnier if it was 100% the game, while also wearing the tunic of the wild

Glad to help with getting those files, and great video!
Yay great youtubers
Wow i love your channel
Annoying Bokoblin hey
Hi Annoying Bokoblin!
It feels like Zelda was doing a bokogoblin pose!
It does look like it! It's possible it is same pose, since Boko's probably just used a squashed version of humanoid skeletons.
I like to think it was meant to be some sort of "True Final Ending" when you get 100% completion of the game, and it shows you moments of complicity between Link and Zelda on their journey to rebuild Hyrule.
Exactly what I thought.
I like to think that the player could only access this image if they binged Naruto shonen and shippuden.
Totally Not A Bar of Soap . . . Done that. It didn’t show me anything different XD

I don't know how you would obtain it, but just my thought....
i’ve seen that picture online multiple times but i just thought it was modding or fan art didn’t think it was literally in the game files lmao

And originally, Link was going to wear the Tunic of the Wild either from the outset, or in the past.
maybe impa is training link for him to make a peace treaty with Clan Yiga so they could stop attacking everyone and help rebuild hyrule
I think in that case rather than a scene in the past it would have been part of the Epilogue scene if you killed "Ganon" after getting the 12 memories and all 120 shrines to show Link continuing to practice meditation as he and Zelda rebuild and now that Zelda has lost the weight of her "destiny", she's more playful and relaxed

everyone says zelda looks playful and like she's sneaking up on link in this, but honestly she almost seems... condescending in a way, and her body language to me suggests she's talking or explaining something. here's an alternative theory -
what if it IS a memory or cutscene, but it's the yiga clan having tried to impersonate zelda and link? and as I've seen some suggest in the comments, the wild set could have been a placeholder outfit for link, before switching to the blue champions tunic. that screenshot could be "link" and "zelda" having been caught and preparing for a fight.
Dammit, I knew Zelda would tell everyone about my passion for shadow clone jutsu...
