      Twilit Fossil Stallord from Twilight princess kinda looks like it's infected with malice bec it's an reanimated creature that had purple eyes. i do not think that that was his home but sense they were taring it down maybe they started taking the belonging out but that is unlikely.

      I think of it this way :
      Maybe link , his sister and his father moved from hateno to the castle after link became a knight (or maybe his mother was from hateno and she died sometime after the birth of links sister . you never know )

      Your thinking about it wrong, it wouldn't have been Link who was called into service as things were going fine before the calamity and they expected the guardians to do most of the fighting. Link most likely chose to go to the castle to become a knight but his father and sister stayed behind.
      But then, during the calamity soldiers immediately became needed so as an old knight his father was called back into service and his sister left to stay elsewhere since she couldn't stay home alone as a child.

      The fact that his father was also a knight, according to memories mentioning that he was, it seems odd that they would live in Hateno village. It would be a long journey for his father to go to Hyrule castle to report for duty daily. As Link was also training to become a knight, I doubt he was doing it at home. He was probably being professionally trained like he was at the knight academy in skyward sword. Perhaps it was their home prior the father being appointed as a knight, but that also seems unlikely as he was likely also a young adult when that happened. Unless the school was near Hateno village and never rebuilt after the calamity, but it would make more sense if it were closer to Hyrule castle for the King to be overseeing training. It sounds like it was only one person living there prior to the calamity, unless they took their whole family to Hyrule when they reported for duty, which seems unlikely. They reported for duty and never returned. It may be one of the only buildings still standing from before the calamity. Homes may have been larger before and made smaller to get families into homes faster after the destruction from calamity. Funds were also probably low after that so a smaller dwelling would be less expensive. That could explain why the other homes are housing 4+ people.
      Perhaps it belonged to his grandfather? And the father was already a knight and out of the house. But I’m not sure what he would have reported for duty for.
      Just my 2 cents and the rabbit hole my brain just ran down.

    I had a thought. Maybe it was link and his familys home. But then they moved away once Link got the job as Zeldas knight. And they moved to a place like castle town. Thats why theres no furniture left, because they took it with them. You could make the argument that the villagers took the furniture when they realized the house was abandoned, but why do that and keep the house? Again the argument could be made that bolson construction took the furniture and maybe used it for their new houses and thats why they have to rebuild things as heard during the black screens after you buy it. But that seems like a stretch. So maybe the house was important because it was a home of two knights who moved away and bought another home to work at the castle. That's just an idea though

      We kinda know, that Links father was a experienced and succesfull Knight/ Swordsmen for Hyrule (It was said by Zelda in the memory, where she gets all sad about her bloodline and the dutys coming with it), so I guess he must have spent most of the time in the castle/ castle city. Considering Link made his way through the Hylian Swordsmen training, which was held, all I know exclusively in the lower parts of Hyrule castle, Link must also have lived in the castle, starting at a very young age, so I think Link only could have lived there for the first few years of his life with his mother, or not at all.

The realization he was pretty much dead would be hard enough on his mind, but to then gather recollections of his past and meet the legacies of his friends who fell in battle...To know that the family he can't remember was likely slaughtered because he failed 100 years prior to protect Castle Town (which is likely where they were since they wouldn't want to stay too far from Link.) No other Link has still emotional toll. Sure he's sassy and carefree when he revives but that makes the revelations later hurt more because he was oblivious to the tragedy he'd already through and forced to relive it.

    I just love what the house being Link's, or at least his family's, means from a story/world building standpoint. It always seemed curious to me how he showed no hesitation offering to buy it talking to Bolson. Bolson didn't even ask, Link just offered like that, no questions asked. Also, having Link's hometown be Hateno means that when Link was fleeing with Zelda towards Hateno, he was probably fleeing back home, the last place he felt was safe. Possibly to ensure not only Zelda's wellbeing but that of his family and friends as well? It's possible that Link's family just wasn't home at the time of the Calamity for whatever reason and perished, or maybe they were and just grew old and passed away peacefully. I suppose that it just fits my personal interpretation of Link to have him want one of the last remaining things from his time to survive. A little piece of familiarity among a world that is so far from the one he knew. With all that in mind, I find it likely that it was the town elders who wanted the house kept around, as they probably knew Link growing up or as a boy, where the younger folk think that the elders are just old coots and that Link being from that very town is just a rumor. That's just my personal interpretation though.

    • @Timme
      @Timme 4 ปีที่แล้ว +62

      In my opinion this is the best theory on this topic and I agree 100%. Link's family not being around isn't any proof that this wasn't Link's original house. His family could have moved with Link to castle town (which could be supported by the lack of furniture in the house, if they took the furniture with them) where they fell victim to the calamity or could have just been not around in Hateno when the Calamity happened and died. Also there's the possibility that the devs didn't implement them for whatever reason.
      And I suppose they wouldn't mention the possibility of Link's home being in Hateno in the book without any meaning to it.
      I think these assumptions work very well with your theory and imo this is the most likely theory there is.
      Well, let's see wether we find out more about this topic in Age of Calamity.

I think somewhere in the depths of his memory Link felt some familiarity with the house, and that's why he immediately thought to buy it. Maybe he lived in it as a young child before his family moved somewhere else, or a friend once lived there, or he at least noticed it when passing through Hateno at some point, I like to think that Link feels some connection to the place.

    It’s definitely implied in the game that this was Link’s house. The game didn’t go right out and say it, but it’s clear the developers intended to make you think about it. They like people theorizing about things, and if you asked Nintendo, they would say something like: “It’s up to the player.” I believe you’re overthinking it. They put the house in so it COULD be Link’s house, if the player wanted it to be.

    I would dispute your findings, based on my own research:
    Not yielding precise ages for link pre and post calamity.
    Zelda’s diary indicating that Link was only promoted to personal knight status on her 16th birthday, with her champion’s memory with Daruk further implying the appointment as recent at the times
    This leaves Link’s use of a home as feasible until the last year before the calamity, and with Link old enough to possibly have raised the house on his own for his future family, as many medieval youths often did when they came of age.
    The remote location of the house further supports Link’s ownership, as he was known to be exceptionally solitary and quiet before the event.
    But hey, I could have missed anything in my checks, which are open to human error, as always.

    • @HyruleGamer
      @HyruleGamer  4 ปีที่แล้ว +42

      ~Link was already besting adult swordsmen at the age of 4.
      ~In the game when the Calamity happens, Link is 17 years old (from the official books/guides).
      ~I am not sure where you get that he was appointed on her 16th birthday; that kind of time stamp is never indicated in her diary. But we know he was appointed to Zelda quite some time before her *17th birthday* since they're relationship was much better by the time she was planning on heading to Mt. Lanayru (the day she turned 17) and he had been escorting her for a while before then (accounting the time she had tried to give him the slip in Gerudo Town and all those different places they traveled Hyrule together in the memories implies time passage from just traveling to those venues alone).
      ~Link's father was also a Knight and they usually live in or near Castle Town, usually training other soldiers. Link was one of them and he started very young (see point 1). So Link's family likely left that house in Hateno long before Link turned 4, not anytime close to when the Calamity hit at age 17.
      ~The location of the house is indeed quite special but I don't think it has anything to do with Link's personality. It's placed there so the player will be curious about why it's not in the town proper and go check it out. Since the house more than likely belonged to Link's parents/family, his solitary personality would have no play in its location.
      ~A finer point is that Link is not actually quiet OR solitary in this game. He only put that upon himself because of the great expectation placed on him. When Link wakes up and forgets most of his memories, he is talkative and social because he doesn't have that pressure that was on him 100 years ago so he just went back to being himself.

    Personally I think that the person who left the house to go to Hyrule castle might’ve actually been Link’s father. Think about it, we already know that his father was a knight, so it’s possible that as the calamity approached, he could’ve been called back to service. Since his sister wouldn’t be able to live on her own, she was probably put into foster care of some sort while Link and his dad were away. It would explain how it’s possible for Link to have lived there without having to own the house himself. The fact that Link had a family in the first place would’ve left common knowledge due to the fact that it’s canon that no one knows Link’s origins. Since Link himself doesn’t get his full memory back(presumably since we only get to see his time with Zelda) that would leave the only record of the house’s inhabitants being that it’s owner left to go to Hyrule castle to fight the calamity. If this is all the case, then Zelda might have some knowledge of Link’s family which could be interesting, and obviously she wouldn’t have been able to share it with the inhabitants of Hateno due to her being trapped in Hyrule Castle for 100 years. This would also explain why the townsfolk bickered about tearing the house down since it would’ve been previously owned by a veteran who sacrificed his life for the kingdom. I could be wrong about all this, but I figured I’d throw my 2 cents in!

You could easily fit two single beds on that second floor and if need be, in that space beneath the stairs. Possibly even 3 upstairs, if positioned correctly.
      And who knows, if Link did have to move to castle town to be closer to the princess--beforehand, he could've shared a bed with his sister. I wouldn't think that'd be uncommon for siblings to do at a younger age.

    Its interesting to note that you can store weapons, shields and bows in the house, and can expand how many by talking to Bolson. What kind of house showcases weapons and shields in fine displays?
    A blacksmith shop.
    Maybe Link's father was a blacksmith after he retired from his knight duties, and he could have forged weapons, armors and shields of much higher quality than ordinary shops, making the shop quite the talk among some knights and travelers. Link could have received training from him prior to joining the Hyrule Knight Academy and eventually becoming Zelda's personal knight.
    Link could have sent a letter, and knowing he isn't coming back except for spare visits, Links' father and sister remove his bed.
    Now, Bolson mentions that the owner left to report for service to defend against the Calamity.
    I'm thinking that with the Calamity near, Link's father could have been reinstated, or requested to come back for duty services. The way Zelda made him sound in the memories certainly imply that Link's father was a pretty well known Knight, worthy of his reputation.
    He could have been assigned as a bodyguard, or even a Captain to help evacuate the townsfolk if things got dire or too dangerous during the fight against Calamity Ganon (Which was likely). Nothing too harsh for his age at the time, and accepted, thus left, leaving Link's sister alone (At this point, she might be old enough to take care of herself), but doesn't notify Link since he already has enough on his shoulders as is.
    But then the Calamity happens, and Link's father is one of the Guardian's many victims. Days, weeks pass and Link's sister gets no news of Link or her father. With no more money to keep the house, I imagine that Link's sister eventually decides to take what she can carry and moves away, certain of herself, that the Calamity took her father and brother, and went to live somewhere else on her own, leaving the house abandoned (hence, one bed, and the weapon displays still intact).
    Of course, nobody mentioning such things as the house being important, certainly shoots down this theory, but its not like Hateno Village was close enough to Hyrule to warrant weapons and armor. The Blacksmith shop could have been an open secret. The people knew, but didn't discuss it cause they weren't the main attraction. So they eventually forgot and didn't pass on that information to the now seniors and adults.

    I agree with you, though the game writers definitely made sure to put in some fun dialogue to give us a chance to theorize about it. That being said, I think there is some small possibility of it, the house empty when you bought it, you needed to furnish it which bolson gladly did for you but I don't think he put in the original items, he's a home builder, he likely just had all of those things anyway for his other houses. What could of happened is that his family would have come with him to live at the castle or somewhere near it, since he was so young (i don't think this is likely but its still an idea) they would have taken all their belongings with leaving the house vacant. Then since they were at or near the castle the chances of their survival was pretty slim and they would have likely died leaving no traces of existence. I still think its more likely that it wasn't their house but this is a possibility i think could have happened. Love your videos btw!

Traveling from Haneto village on foot along conventional roads to Zora's Domain is a journey and a half just going one way. I suspect Link actually grew up near Zora's Domain personally.

    something to consider when answering questions like this is that figuring out what's "canon" in a fantasy setting may have a different set of rules than deducing real life events. we generally consider the intent of the writer or director to be canon, so the best question to ask is "what did the writer intend?". they might have been smart or intentional enough to leave a complex breadcrumb trail of hints to get you to the right conclusion, or they might not have. and they're prone to making logical mistakes as well. in my opinion in this case, they seemed to be writing hints into the characters' dialogue with the intention of getting the player to believe this was Link's former home, therefore it was their intention that this was Link's former home, so it is.

    I think this is Link's childhood home. While Fort Hateno is just a wall now, it was obviously a huge defensive stronghold for Link to risk bringing Zelda there during the calamity instead of a place like akkala citadel. With a permanent fort so close to Hateno, Link's father could have bought the home in Hateno to raise his children there, traveling to the fort for duty. When Link decided that he wanted to become a knight too, he would have had to go to the castle to train. His family could have decided to temporarily move to castle town for Link's training and unexpectedly staying once he became Zelda's knight. Or maybe Link's dad was called to the castle for more training or something because of the calamity, and while they were there Link decided to enroll in the knight academy. Either way, it could have easily been Link's childhood home, with the furniture having been removed when the family moved, or as part of the demolition.
    This being Link's house also explains why nobody bought it in the hundred years since the calamity. Obviously they need more houses because Bolson is making new ones. The house being Link's means the town would have respect for it, and some people would argue not to tear it down because of the rumors of the hero being still alive.

  • @DigitalDeath88
    @DigitalDeath88 4 ปีที่แล้ว +8

    It may have been just Link's home. Teengaer or not he was already a very high ranking knight with a connection to the royal family, wouldn't be much of a stretch that someone of such rank would be given or able to buy a house for themselves.

  • @Xahnel
    @Xahnel ปีที่แล้ว +1

    A knight in training is called a squire, and they could be as young as ten or so. Squires were typically paired with an elder knight, and acted as a trusted gofer while in training. The elder knight took care of the squire's expenses. If Link was a squire, he was most likely a squire under his father, or a personal friend of his father's. Zelda seems to have personally known Link's father, meaning his father was likely a royal guard, which would explain why a squire in training was near enough to Princess Zelda to shield her with a pot lid when a Guardian misfired. It's most likely that Link's home was either Hyrule Castle Town, or nearby. Considering the cucco that his sister is carrying in the picture, his father likely owned one of the nearby farms. Plots of land were a common reward to knights for their service. The closest town to Castle Town was Mabe Village. Further, the concept art of Link's little sister resembles not just Aryll from Wind Waker, but Malon. The outfit more specifically. Even further, Link was an expert in handling horses and taught Zelda. That's the sort of comfort with an animal that comes of raising them.
    Therefore, I propose that Link's family owned the ranch near Mabe Village. It makes logical sense. Link's father was a royal knight charged with the care of the princess, which is why Link is trusted enough to be around her. Link was his squire. Link's father received the ranch land as reward for his service to the crown. Link grew up with horses, explaining his familiarity with training them. His sister is holding a cucco, which is a ranch/farm animal, and she is dressed like Malon. The ranch is Link's family estate.

    I feel like maybe Link and Zelda stayed there on their travels. Maybe even the Champions too. We know Zelda liked to travel originally and then she had to go places to try to activate her power. They most likely stayed in Hateno a lot because of Purah. Zelda was obsessed with Guardians and Shekiah technology so it would make sense if she visited Puraha lot.

  • @BelgianPigeon
    @BelgianPigeon ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I know this video is very old, but i always had a different theory. I always thought that the old owner reported for service at the castle when the calamity happened. And that this old owner was Link's father. Because at this point in time Link would be traveling around with Zelda, and we can see in the memories that he was with Zelda and the other champions when the calamity happened, not at home. We know his father used to be a Royal Guardsman, so even if he was retired at the time of the calamity, he might've still went to the castle to fight for his kingdom once more. And due to Link's sister's young age, her father might have taken her to someplace safe (other family, a friend) before continuing to the castle instead of leaving her alone at home. Link's father was then more than likely killed during the calamity, and maybe his sister was too. So they never returned, which explains the home being vacant for years.

    Here’s what I think: After leaving his home to become a Knight, Link was not able to return to see his family at any point. He was constantly consumed with his duties as a Knight, the Princess’ guardian, and a Champion. He inadvertently abandoned his family by becoming a Knight like his father. I think that his family probably lived there still for a while, with Link’s sister being watched over by their father. Eventually, something tragic happened to them. My main theory is that when the Calamity struck, Link’s father (a former Knight) leapt into action, leaving his young daughter (possibly a young adult living an a seperate home by this point) to go help. He was killed in action by the corrupted Guardians, and the only surviving member of this family was either young enough to not remember her family super well anymore, and probably got adopted by some other family, or was old enough that she was living somewhere else at that point. Heck, maybe she’s that elderly lady in the village, or maybe she’s died of old age by this point. Regardless, she’d be either too old for Link to recognize her, or link left to early in her life for her to remember him, or both.

  • @chaosphoenix2838

    It could be his fathers home. Maybe he took his sister to the castle when he got first there and she got some education. This would explain why there are no records of his family because if his father was a knight he might have gone to the castle or the wall of hateno at the attack and died there and his sister in the castle. But why does the old lady not recocnize him? Well if she had seen him maybe only right before he (and his sister) went to the castle. And by now he looks like a 17 year old teenager, so there is now way a normal thinking human or hylian would think that is him, as he should look like a 100y/o person and not some random teenager. And also why do we never hear about his mother?

Anything could have happened during the Calamity itself, such as Link’s father joining the ranks and leaving the sister at home alone, to grow old in the family home, or a tragedy involving the sister dying during or at some point after the Calamity. Or just old age and normal life events, seeing as it’s been 100 years and even Link’s sister would have likely died of old age by the events of the game

Say the house in hateno was his family's house, and while he was off training to be a knight his dad stayed back with his sister, well.. when the calamity hit, the royal family would need as many knights as they could, so maybe links dad picked up his sword again and left to fight. But the sister would be too young to stay home alone, so maybe she'd have stayed with distant relatives or family friends in another settlement. So then, links dad could very well have been killed in battle, and his sister could've been wiped out with the other settlements, and then the house is left abandoned. Hell, links dad could've been the knight the legend talks about who left the house to go to hyrule castle
    Just some speculation, but overall your theory does make a lot of sense
    I just like to believe the house was links, facts or no, because it creates a cute little full-circle thing when he buys it back

    I think link was from Goponga, in Zora's domain, there's zoras that say that remember link and was his friends, specifically Gaddison says that she and link usually played 100 years earlier. that fact would be unviable due the distance between Hateno and Zora's domain, but would be viable concidering the distance between Zora's domain and Goponga, and there's also a river that conect this two places

    It wouldn't be strange for me, because I always thought the affirmative answers to wanting to buy the house available for the player were kind of pushy, and the thought of link approaching mid demolition and saying he will definitely buy it seemed odd.

    I think Link lived there as a boy, his parents owned the home. We know that Link spent a lot of time in Zora's domain as a kid but Mipha never mentons his sister, which is something she'd relate to having a younger sibling of her own. I personally think Link's mother and sister stayed behind to take care of the family home while Link traveled on duty with his father. It could be why Link got the master sword as a pre-teen but it wasn't until he faced the guardian that he was noticed by the king. Country knight could mean not that he's from the country but that he wasn't stationed at Castle town.

    I remember making a theory video based on this. I came to the conclusion that Link's home was actually Mabe village. It was the most likely place to be since it's in the country, close to Hyrule Castle, and it's close to the training grounds. It would fit with everything we know about Link, but that's just my opinion

    I always believe that link and his family never really had a home but rather hopped from stable to stable around hyrule. His dad was a knight so maybe he had to go to many places like akkala citadel, fort hatano and hyrule castle on a daily basis so they stayed at stables and rode to the next. Probably isn’t true but i like the idea of link and his family being wanderers.

    • @domino3861
      @domino3861 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      My second theory is that links dad lived in the house but after he died and after the calamity it was abandoned. Maybe some people wanted to keep the house up because they thought it was noble that a knight that fought for his kingdom used to live there but others thought it was inappropriate to keep the house of a dead knight up and standing and that lead to the argument

    One thing worth noting is that Link didn't actually die while protecting Zelda. He died in an attempt to defeat every guardian that was heading towards Hateno Village, even though he was vastly outnumbered. Was he desperately trying to protect his hometown instead of retreating with Zelda like he should have?

  • @malic_zarith
    @malic_zarith 4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    I think you are mistaken. Link's father was a knight, and it seems he was the only one looking after the sister. When the father was almost certainly called to hyrule castle around the time of the calamity, he would have either brought the daughter with him(unlikely) or left her with a friend or relative. There are many reasons why Link's sister wouldn't want the house after the father she lived there with was almost certainly killed in battle. I'm 100% certain that Link's family lived in that house, and that the sister being the only one around simply didn't take over the house after the calamity. It's also possible that the sister died. We might find out more in the sequel, but based on the evidence we have now, it seems that the father was the owner that the workers mentioned.

    • @HyruleGamer
      @HyruleGamer  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I did say his Father was a Knight, however not all Knights work at the Castle. There were a ton of posts and Knights settlements across the land. For example, Fort Hateno, The Akkala Citadel and the smaller posts :)

    • @malic_zarith
      @malic_zarith 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@HyruleGamer It doesn't leave out the possibility that he was a knight that reported to the castle though. Maybe the knights were called to the castle before being sent to the various forts. I don't remember if it said whether the owner left right before the calamity, but it seems to me that most knights started at the castle, and were driven to places like Akkala to make a last stand.
      I'm sure some knights were at the various forts, but it seemed like the hylians knew that the main fight would be around the castle and the biggest force was there at the start of the battle. If the king was somehow aware of Ganondorf being sealed under the castle, that would likely make him assume that the malice form of Ganon would form near the body. This is just my headcanon though, and you know more about these games than I do. For some reason I thought I was on a different channel when I left the initial comment. You could easily be right.

    the reason link's family isn't around anymore is that he's been gone for 100 years. the only people who are still alive after all of that are link, impa, purah, zelda, and the zora elders.
    Impa is special, she's basically a ninja who has access to shieka medicines as well as the royal family's medicine, so it's no wonder she lived 100 years
    Purah basically aged herself backwards
    Zelda had her age stopped through magic
    Link was basically in a stasis pod the whole time
    and the zora live very long lives anyways.
    it's very possible that link's family died while out doing errands outside of Hateno village. or they just died of old age

    I always thought that it was his PARENTS' home instead of Link himself's considering Link's age prior to the calamity and how he'd most likely reside at the castle since he was Zelda's personal knight. Like we know about Link's father being a knight, but we know nothing about his mother. I always figured that Link's mother was either a nomadic sheikah descendant (maybe not a full-blood sheikah, however) or she died whenever Link was very very young. Im leaning more towards her dying, however (though that doesnt fully change the possibility of her being a nomadic sheikah before she died since thats a personal hc of mine), and this led to his father being very cold and distant (judging by how he doesnt seem to have any warmth towards him being mentioned yet still felt like he should follow in his footsteps to become a knight) to Link. I never thought that the picture of Link's family was specifically his father and his younger sister, however. The male character looks a lot like Link's uncle to me and though i think the young female character is indeed Link's sister (maybe half sister? or she was adopted), she could also very easily be his uncle's daughter whom he was just very close with. I always figured that after his mother's death, Link's father threw himself into his work and basically abandoned Link with his uncle even if Link was still allowed to see him and visit him in Hateno somewhat (mostly to train, however). I think that the house was Link's father's, but Link was left there alone a lot so it has warm memories for him since before the calamity, it still had traces of his mother. Link's father was a semi-important soldier, so he left for the castle one day and never came back (possibly because he died even before the calamity occured). The villagers argued about whether they should preserve the home or not because even if they didnt know that the home belonged to Link's father, the home still had historical significance and was even somewhat more important because it had belonged to a soldier who never returned for mysterious reasons. This is all speculation and my own personal headcanons, however. But I have very strong headcanons about who I think Link's family were before the calamity lmao.

    There's nothing to really say it couldn't have been his family's home and his sister continued to live there until her death. The father dying, there'd be no bed. Whether or not she had a family of her own, if she outlived her husband and the children moved away, there'd be need of only one bed. If she died 20 years prior to Link waking up, the house still could be empty for an entire generation.

Mipha’s final diary entry even refers to a time he visits her without the princess which the context shows was the recovered memory of their time on Ruta. “This will be a rare occasion that Link is not accompanying the princess. Make him less of a stranger to the players and more of a feel good relatable character. With Hyrule on the verge of a war, every Knight was likely training nearby the castle including Link and his father. His sister would've followed them regardless and probably lived in castle town. Given the weight of what was happening, they could've left with haste and never wrote or warned anyone. Or maybe they did but since the calamity, everything got messed up/lost. No one from the generation of the calamity is still alive so no one would be able to keep track and paper really wears after years so it could've never gotten to the right hands. Plus, the calamity was so sudden that any intended letter could've easily been lost. With Link not being much of a talker... It's not surprising if he didn't tell anyone. Gotta leave the past behind ya

    This is what I believe: link's father was a renowned knight in the hylian army (maybe even a member of the royal guard), but his wife died after giving birth to link's younger sister, so he returned to his hometown (hateno) , where he raised his kids and trained link to be a knight.
    Eventually, news from the castle said that they were forming an army to stop "Calamity Ganon", so he returned to Castle town with a 10 year old link and his sister, where he and his son joined the army. A couple years later, link's is chosen to be zelda's appointed knight and a couple more later, calamity happens and kills both link's father and sister.

    When Zelda team said that they had many ideas that they wanted to add in Breath of the Wild, Aonuma said that it could be better to add them in its sequel.
    The Master Works book in its japanese version shows a picture of Link's family. There is a good possibility that they might add some introduction to Link's family because the book also displays pictures of Link using a magic hand, displayed in the Bot2 reveal trailer in 2019. It also shows a floated mountain (or castle?) in Hyrule.
