    Thanks for the video. It helped me immensely. I couldn't figure out what was happening with the spring arm. It was hitting the frame. 😊. Also, i hooked a ratchet strap to my truck and spring to pull the spring back on. Have a wonderful day!

    I"m a 60 yr. old disabled woman and I was able to change my belt with ease after watching this video. The only thing that wasn't mentioned in the video was the bar that runs across the engine pulley. But, no worries I simply removed it and looped the belt around the pulley. No need to do anything with the ratchet. My mower is in great shape. It's over five years old and this is the first belt, blades and tune up (it gets regular oil and plugs changed). I don't know what I'd do without youtube. I hate reading the manual, so videos like this are amazing. When I was switching the belt, the old one was really slack, like it would just fall off but never did. The new one was the same and I thought I'd missed a step. Until my son asked me to engage the blades (with the mower turned off) and the belt tightened right up and my mower was ready to go. Thank you for sharing your video. Folks like you make old ladies (with a shop full of tools) save lots of money by doing this kind of stull myself. Have a great day!

      @JLPicard440  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      HI Ann. I'm so glad this was able to help you. Does your mower have a pull out switch to engage the blades or a lever that you turn about 1/4 turn to engage the blades? If it has the lever, then that explains why the belt was loose when disengaged... I'm glad you got it going!... :-)

      @JLPicard440 Hello Sir I have a troy built super bronco XP. It's exactly the same as this mower . I'm having a huge prob I can't figure out . Right where the cotter key is that goes on the back side nub it keeps breaking, the adjustable arm that let's your raise your deck adjust your deck up and down is where I keep having this prob . My idler is past my frame, is the idler suppose to be past the frame like this? I use a rachet strap hook just like you did have for a couple years now .

    • @JLPicard440
      @JLPicard440  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm assuming the cotter pin is large enough. I can't remember exactly where the idler sits, I haven't had one of those for a while. If you look at the idler there should be a square hole in it somewhere where you can use a regular ratchet to pull the idler back. I figured that out after the video. Without being able to see it, i'm having trouble picturing where the problem is. If you're having problems with the mechanism that raises the deck, what about the roller wheels? Are they adjusted properly? Could be to much weight hanging there...

      @davenstorm7271 ปีที่แล้ว

      @JLPicard440 Where I been grabing that spring with a Rachet strap I think it's made the spring weak . If you read the comments on this video many are saying that their idler was up past the frame point that you talked about in the video , I can't get my idler to return back past that point and now today for the first time my belt actually twisted kinda , it finally broke went and got a new belt and it twisted again , I can't figure out what the heck is going on with this thing .

    • @JLPicard440
      @JLPicard440  ปีที่แล้ว

      Have you tried to remove the spring so you can move the idler freely and see if you can get it to go where you want it?

  • @streetpupfavorites3639

    Yes, I found a single ratchet from walmart and will just use the buckle and s hook like you did. Thanks a million for your help and also.. what you mentioned in regards to that spindle portion getting behind the frame happened to me as well. Because of your explanation I have learned so much. You are by far more expertise in your delivery than any other video I have watched. Keep up the good work and I always look forward to your programs...Ron

    Thanks for the advice. I could not figure out how to pull that spring far enough to get the belt over the pulley. Your technique was exactly right. I used a small length of cord with loops on both ends. One end on the spring, the other on a handle, and I pulled far enough to install the belt over the pulley.

    I cannot thank you enough for your ratchet idea. That was pure genius. My belt came off after a branch got caught in a pulley and for the life of me I couldn't get enough slack in the belt to get it back on. I was about to give up when I looked at more videos on TH-cam and fortunately found yours. Hooked the ratchet end to my Jeep's hitch and ratcheted away. AMAZING! THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!!!!!!!!!! There is a square hole on the lever for belt tension and if you insert a 3/8 inch square ratchet with a short extension or Johnson Bar you can release the tension with ease, I also put a small length of pipe over the ratchet for additional leverage.

    I have a cub cadet ltx 1045 with 46" dual blade cutting deck, every belt I put on bounces like crazy when the cutting deck is off. When I engage the blades it mows fine. As soon as I shut it off the belt bounces and breaks. All belt keepers are close so the belt is not falling off the pulleys. Any way to fix ?

You could get the model number from the bottom of the seat and go to a website like www.partstree.com and plug in the model number. From there you can get a parts breakdown and that might show where the spring went...
