    SERIOUSLY One of the VERY best videos I've ever seen on TH-cam, and I've seen a lot! Your explanation was great and your camera work was outstanding. Now, I have the confidence that I can do this job myself. Another thing, you didn't drown out your explanation with music as so many do. Thank You for an outstanding job.

    One thing I would add, is that instead of trying to put the belt on the back end from underneath , just remove your battery and then remove the battery holder and you can put the belt on so much easier. The battery holder just clips in.

    I watched your lawn tractor lube video and from there have been on a watching marathon of your Husqvarna mower maintenance videos.

    Great video, Dennis. On my YTH 21K46, I can remove the battery (located beneath the seat), slide the plastic battery box up and out of the rear fenders, and have unobstructed access to the top of the transaxle. This makes it much easier to remove/reinstall the drive belt in that rear area. Hope this helps!

    Dennis Coffey, I've watched many videos over the years and most of them suck, but yours was very well done!!! I never hesitate to criticize poor video makers because they waste people's time. Your video was terrific and very helpful in teaching me how to put a drive belt on my tractor. Your links for ramp and belt were perfect. I double checked and triple checked the belt to make sure it would fit my tractor and your link is perfect. Ordering a ramp, its a good idea instead of my lame hand jack. Getting a belt too! Thanks for taking time to make a good video, I really appreciate it!

    Dennis Coffey, This week I watched many of your videos before tackling the 5 year maintenance on my 2015 Husqvarna YTA22V46. You made my life so much easier and saved me lots of money in the process. Although my mower is similar to the YTH22V46, it does have some differences, when following your video for the drive belt replacement I found that removing the battery and battery box gave me clear access to drive belt in the back and it was easy peasy to route the belt in place. Let me know if you want the parts list as posted under the hood of the mower.

    • @dwcoffey
      @dwcoffey  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for watching, Pete! Also, thanks for sharing that info about the YTA22V46! A couple of other folks have mentioned the same on the YTH22V46....that getting the old belt off and the new belt on was easier for them by removing the battery and battery box for easier access to the top of the transaxle. Thanks!!

    Great video. I have a few additions. Ariens 46" rider. Same basic setup. I was randomly stranded in a field that i rode to. 1/4 mile away. Belt snapped. Had an extra in the shed, always have an extra belt. Thanks to this vid and 18% phone battery i accomplished this with 0 tools, not removing the deck, and not raising the unit. I see the comments about removing the battery under the seat. Couldn't do it. Kohler engine, battery is under the hood. Gas tank is under the seat.
    Step 1- drop the deck.
    Step 2- attach a ratchet strap to the clutch pedal to keep it pressed
    Step 3- route the belt from the center to the front engine pulley, left it around the shaft, you need the play.
    Step 4- route the belt straight to the rear pulley. My model i was able to access the fan from a cutout on each side of the mower above the axle. Enough to get the belt around the fan and pulley. Those blades were very pliable btw but age and wear will play a factor.
    Step 5- i routed the belt around the 3 center pulleys from front to rear.
    Step 6- removed the strap, laughed and finished the job.
    Since the belt snapped i didn't know how to route it and because i couldn't raise and didn't remove the decki needed this vid. I had to feel my way through the job. Saw a bunch but none were useful. Awesome vid, can't thank you enough. Just know that in a pinch you can do it in the middle of nowhere. Good luck everyone!

    Dennis what a great video! I have the exact riding lawn mower in your video. I have had the mower for about 8 years now and over the years I have replaced the deck and drive belts. You have a great video by-the-way on replacing the deck belt. I have replaced both the deck and drive belts without removing the deck. It is a little bit of a pain the replace the drive belt with the deck still attached but it can be done if you support the front of the mower with jack stands and the rear with jack stands but place the jack stands under the crossmember which is in-front-of the transaxle. My solution for removing he belt from the transaxle fan was to remove the battery and battery tray and you have direct access to the transaxle fan and pulley and lower the deck as low as possible.

    • @dwcoffey
      @dwcoffey  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Thank you Dennis. This is a GREAT video. It is among the very best I have ever seen. My daughter and I needed to change the drive belt on her tractor, and we would have been thoroughly frustrated doing the job without this video.There was only one thing that was not exactly as Dennis described. My daughter's tractor is model YTH 24V48, and has an electrically activated clutch that starts the mower deck with a push of a button rather than a manual actuator. We found that one brace and one electrical cable need to be removed and reinstalled to replace the belt on the engine pulley.

    On a Craftsman mower (917.28xxxx, which were made by Husqvarna from around 2010 to 2018) use the same technique. The belt size is 1/2 inch X 92 inches. Some books say 921/4" and others say 92 1/2". I've used the 92 inch and it works, although tight. Sears suggests removing the front pully (it has two pulleys on it) so you can easily remove the belt; just use a 5/8" socket on a impact wrench (I used my battery powered wrench and found it works very well)
    . I found it is an easy way to assist in removing the belt.
    Great video. I've watched it a number of times and see something I missed each time. Dennis, you did a great job of explaining the process & procedure. My suggestion for a future video is to show good ways to troubleshoot different issues. Topics: "How to know when its time to change the belts; testing for level; testing for blade sharpness; testing the lights, etc.

    I don't know if you mentioned it, but I just got done doing mine and it's important c people understand that when replacing you need to first put the belt up over the clutch in front and leave out of pulley to give it extra movement. Then snake the belt to back and from back to front begin placing belt on pulley. If you don't flip the belt over the clutch in the front to begin with, when you begin putting the belt on the pulleys from back to front, when you go to put the belt on the front if you got this big clutch, that's gonna be in your way and not enough play in the belt to be able to get it over that and if you could you probably stretch it so much then it would no longer be any good. Good luck I hope I didn't make this more confusing. Overall, I really liked your video dude. Thank you very much. Was a great help. Got me thinking.

    Dennis another great video on the mower. I have a suggestion for an easier installation of the new belt. I just followed your instructions and realized that if you simply remove the battery and the plastic battery tray at the rear of the engine that gives you access to the top of the fan where you can now very easily slip the new belt over the fan blades and onto the pulley. Extra time needed was about 3 minutes. Made the job much much easier than working from below trying to loop the belt over the top of the blades between the blades and the bottom of the plastic battery tray. Try this and you will save yourself a lot of headaches. Worked for me.

    Excellent detailed video, if you don't want to do all that to remove the belt, just cut it and pull it out.

      Thanks for watching, Anthony! Great point. The only reason I went to the trouble was that this belt was in reasonable shape, so I kept it for an emergency backup.
