I have used both, the HDSS, currently the Exedy twin disc and I am currently at the same amount of time of usage (2 years) of the two clutch systems. My HDSS failed at the 2 year plus or minus timeline with maybe 3-4 track nights and spirited driving, but normally, daily driving. My Exedy system in the other hand, I have gone to the track 2-3 track nights with at least 8-15 passes per night and the rest the same, and so far it is still going well with no sign of slippage. Idk, maybe when my HDSS was installed it could have been installed incorrectly causing excessive wear but that is just my situation. I just love how the twin disc engages and feels, however, not going to lie the price you are paying is almost double so you have to add that into consideration. I am running an 18k with all the bolt ons, walbro 525 and FIC 1650cc on flex for reference. Nonetheless, great video and great to see that the 18k can still make some good power even with the limited fuel injector.
It appears I have the exact same setup on my car, down to the same brands and everything. Of course I have no clue what I make because my car is street tuned by myself and never seen the dyno. Love your videos!
@@bdalchemist Definitely. I am still on 93 so I haven't hit the same brick wall yet. But I keep toying with the idea of going E85. I have a single 450lph in a Radium double pumper hanger, so I could always throw in some bigger injectors and an extra pump if I need to. Thanks for sharing your videos, it always gives me ideas on where I can go with my setup.
Alchemist, I've been watching alot of your videos recently, and you're very knowledgeable and personable. I have a Evo X question, if one has no desire to build the engine (stay stock bottom/head), which turbo would make the most usable power: MHI 18k or GRX3576? The 3576 seems to be about $1k more, is it worth it for my config (again, stock motor). Thank you and pls keep up the great work!!
Just curious, is there any downside to running higher boost on 93? I notice you like to taper it down in 24 range on a few of your videos I currently have my map set to a target of 28 even on 93 and don’t notice any knock… but I’m guessing maybe less boost and more timing might be better for gains on 93?
@@bdalchemist yessir. I decided to take some courses and do this for myself as a hobby. I know more timing vs boost on 93 “for more gains” doesn’t make much sense. I’m really just curious why you choose to keep the boost lower on 93. For safety?

Can you turn off the rear o2 to prevent check engine lights with open source tuning, or do you need a j bung in the test pipe when catless? P0420 I believe.

Setup I want for my Evo. All I need is the turbo, manifold, down pipe.
I had this setup briefly. Needed more injector. It made me nervous being at 95% IDC. I’m using 1300s now and they seem to do the job
Yes the id 1300/fic1200 are probably none built motor goto injectors

I prefer the exeddy double/triple for all situation above all other clutches. The act single is a distant second
Another great video! It was cool to see a post-tune test-drive as well. Good stuff!
