Constantly watching breakup content was keeping me stuck in the past. It was comforting at first, but now that im ready to move on, the content is holding me back! Thanks for this reminder. Gotta be careful of what you consume
I’m 18 and I got social media for the first time this past year and I’ve realized how much more I’ve been tempted to spend money on useless things. I’ve also felt my time slipping away. It’s crazy how an app can change your life so much. Thank you sm for the guidance it was much needed!!❤
Does coping with this belief make you feel better? Because there are many that are living this life that seems so unreal. You gonna get discouraged when you learn that truth? Nobody cares about the ones that aren’t living that life; they eventually get found out and embarrassed on TikTok. It’s impossible to not compare to people actually living a free life.
I love this video! I might be the only person I know that doesn’t have a TikTok lmao. On your other notes, they are so true. I love shopping at goodwill you’d be surprised what you find! You can have your own aesthetic finding hidden gems instead of following trends. Also going out especially for drinks is something I literally stopped doing. I’m currently fasting from alcohol.
@5:40 girl so true! The amount of extremism content that’s rampant on social media (ESPECIALLY TIKTOK) has me extremely concerned for the mental development of the youth. Everything is irrational and spoken with lack of facts/statistics. People are hating their lives and strangers who’ve done nothing to them because of that kind of content 😢
I literally cut off mindlessly scrolling social media for 3 months and locked in on my grind. it's extremely tiring but broooo.... it feels SO GOOD how much abundance I have earned cause I put my head down and focused on my GOALS
I’m working on overconsumption too 😅😅 I spend a lot of time on the clock app & the lifestyle marketing is what gets me 😩 I really like the idea of focusing on my own style & what I actually like bc the trends die out so quickly. Gotta log off more often 😂😂
All great points you have made. The problem I've noticed is that many people don't have any idea of who they are or what they really desire to be going forward. Also many times the act of paying bills and unlimited financial debt will tend to keep many people stuck in a job they deeply hate.
After deleting Instagram I realized I realized I cared about so much meaningless stuff like what I was wearing and how I looked, I really don’t actually care about that stuff when I don’t have to worry about getting likes
Yes! You are exactly right. I honestly think some of us have become too invested in other people’s lives to the point that we ruin other people’s lives too and ours. I feel like everyone is trying to be someone else instead of their actual self
Love love love this video! Especially the last point! I am working on doing more of my hobbies and trying to dial down the amount of content I take in comparison to that - aka create more than I consume
All of these are true. My life is completely different than it was last year. My goal is to improve every year. I just have to get a hold of this budget/ shopping and my food/weight🙏🏽🥴
As a woman of a certain age, it is so refreshing to hear you touch on topics that people are afraid of discussing, for fear of being in the minority. I was that person who equated "things" with being successful. We try so hard to stay ahead of the game, and when we lose we don't take ownership if it. I, now, account for every mistake in my life, spending instead of saving, too concerned about how I looked to other people. It's been a blessing to witness your journey, and learn from you. I will continue to support you. Lynette, you truly are a blessing.❤❤
Most people don't "Love" what they do as a "Job". But are very adept at it. That's life. We all have financial obligations/fixed expenses to meet. Especially in NYC, where it's very expensive to live and have the basics. Work is work. If you have a side gig or passion, you can be fulfilled in that way.
Love this video! You talked a bit about finding a career that actually fulfills you. I have been working at a restaurant and I’m so ready for change but I’m not sure what I want to do or what will fulfill me most. Do you have any book recommendations regarding finding your passion/a career you actually enjoy?
Hey Lynette this was a useful and helpful video. It's ironic that I'm a middle child Gen Xer that remembers a time when there was no internet or social media. Me and many of my age group became addicted to social media. I've come a very long way. There were times my screen usage was 6 to 7 hours daily. Easy. My mindless time has become more mindful because I'm a podcast host that's a one man show, I produce, I write in a writing community, and I create content for my You Tube channel. I said all of that to say I fill my time up with creating art now. When I'm not doing that I watch and listen to content that inspires and motivates me. You have to create an ecosystem of joy. I have a full-time job and I still choose a purposeful path. These videos are great reminders for self check ins. Thank you. ✌️ & ❤ P.o.p.
Anyone who reads this message, I pray that God is rescuing you from a situation that seemed like there was a no way out. Miracles are happening in your life right now! Keep believing in yourself and put your trust in God✨
I think that BEING BROKE is a SYSTEMIC ISSUE and not an individual one. When we see it as an individual problem we SHAME those who can't escape POVERTY and the reality is that most of us are just SURVIVING these days and it's definitely not due to personal bad habits or a bad mindset.
i agree & disagree - there's veryyy much a systematic issue but ppl get trapped by buying into lifestyle programming, & instead of trying to improve their situation they want to wait for the system to change, which in all honesty i haven't seen happen in my lifetime & i don't have the patience for. so these are just some tips for taking control of what you can
@@LynetteAdkinsthat's also very REAL! I tend to look at the bigger picture and forget what I CAN control and what's in my power. Thank you, I like your channel 💕
If anyone has any good vibe playlists with powerful/positive lyrics and could reply to this comment with them it would be great, been looking for ages!!❤️❤️💕

Mine is reducing my social media consumption!

Reducing social media and getting a routine that makes me feel good and loved

Its important to understand most on the internet don't have the life they pretend to have. They aren't earning a living making videos.

I currently work for a company that has made it known they don’t care for their employees and I’m ready to let go of this job. Thank you for advice!
A word! I preach a mental diet all the time, it’s so important to protect what you consume.

Nope I’m with you I don’t have one either. I just feel it’s too much😂
I have TikTok but I rarely use it or only use it 5 minutes and I get bored 😂
Yay!! I don’t have TikTok either

Social media and content creation economy has way more cons than pros.
