Anyone that reads this comment, I pray that your life becomes more productive, exciting and full of new genuine friendships. I know you will get what you’ve been asking for very very soon. Have so much confidence and faith in yourself to the point no one can’t discourage or knock you off your path. You guys got this!!!!!
I developed an eating disorder during the pandemic. I suffered for 4 years until early this year that I heard a podcast that talked about the importance of routine in our life, so I started to make a routine for myself, I started working out from home, cleaning the house everyday, read 25_50 pages of a book daily, draw every day and do my daily prayers and finally go to bed before 12am, it helped me so much when I keep myself busy I don't think about food all the time.
It's completely true that I was in a tough spot. I felt like I was doing nothing with my day because I was unemployed and addicted to social media. This negatively affected my mental health and made me feel antisocial. However, I deleted my TikTok, Instagram, and other social media platforms two weeks ago, and I'm already seeing improvements. I'm also thrilled to share that I've been hired for the job of my dreams! It’s incredibly satisfying and uplifting.
I 100% agree with this and am currently working on building a life to look for to outside of a job that doesn't fulfill me but takes up most of my day. Its true you'll get lost in negative thoughts and depression
I think this is so fascinating because the lack of being present in our lives also stems from the idea birthed from social media that "if no one is seeing me do it, what's the point of doing it". Millennials knew life pre-social media so it might be a bit easier for us to unlearn the "show everything" idea, whereas Gen Z never knew life without showing everything. And I think that idea is pervasive even if you don't post a lot on social media, it still creates this.....invalidation of what you're doing. Like it's not enough compared to what someone else is doing or if no one is watching, etc. Basically you are describing happiness as living a regular life and giving yourself permission to enjoy living your life, enjoy the hobbies you authentically choose to do, enjoy the small parts, enjoy the process of learning something as opposed to thinking only in terms of triumphs and big highlight moments that social media has trained us to filter reality through.
As a 19 year old I have been STRUGGLING with this!! I constantly feel the urge to post all my achievement and travels online. Like can we pls stop recording ourselves and just live???
Agreed. I think we need to challenge our ideas of productivity. Productivity can be associated as negative because capitalism’s taught us to divest from ourselves and invest into corporations and consumption whether that be investing our time and labor into jobs or overconsumption in the sense of vices, such as social media, alcohol, etc…If we associate productivity with the things that yield positivity in our lives such as hobbies, health, and community then “busy” doesn’t inherently mean exhausted or stressed.
Totally agree - as someone who is usually over productive I often long for free time but I noticed that once I get it, it is only so long before it starts to have a negative effect on me and it becomes a breeding ground for overthinking and self judgement, creating new insecurities etc. I’ve come to the realization that being busy is good for me! For the most part at least and I’ve never heard anyone talk about until now 💕 this video gets me
Everything you've just said makes so sense. I have been working on this college assignment for weeks and had a hard time staying disciplined in the beginning and tbh I had nothing else to do. I have started working at a summer job this week, so after I come home I just sit at the desk and start writing without any distractions. The more you got to do in your shedule the easier it is to stay focused and disciplined . Also I feel really accomplished at the end of the day. But remember that everything is about Balance. Don't overwork yourself, but definitely force yourself sometimes to do something until it becomes a habit. I do believe that it is in humans nature that we can so much more than we tend to believe❤
Omg! I’ve always been this way, too much free time has always been so overwhelming to me. So glad to see it put into words 🙂. I’m in a temporarily unemployed period but I’ve been keeping as busy as I can with hobbies/ future planning helps to pad the spaces !
I agree 100%. I love to work and I love my free time, but if I have too much of either I can get in a really bad head space. I know it's cliché but balance really is key.
You are hitting some really strong points. When I had free time I noticed I was smoking more hookah on a daily basis. Currently, I’m searching for ways to fulfill my time. I’ve been looking at boxing classes. Not to fight, but to clear my mind. Thank you for your post. ❤
That’s so real and so important! Being bored is necessary! We absolutely NEED that to balance our mind and body, the thing is that we always think that being bored is bad and it’s the complete opposite!
i think it is all about moderation of course we should rest but being in a consistent long period of doing nothing can be un-healthy it leads you to overthinking and maybe even “rot” not in a physical decay but sitting on your phone or electronics all day consuming content that is not beneficial, rest can even be reading or drawing etc. and hey everyone is different what may be busy to you may be rest to someone else
i swearrr you are tapped into the collective!!! i FINALLY started learning mandarin chinese (y'all make sure to check your local libraries!! there are can be so many free resources), have a morning and evening meditation routine, i journal daily and have been reading more again! i also am opening up an etsy shop after being scared to start😭 but yes, i'm all for balance, but also being a productive, rewarding kind of busy! love u lynette
Amazing video yet again Lynette. I’ve been doing these things already as a 26 y/o black man. Currently listening to this on a 48 hour getaway trip in NOLA & I agree with everything in this. I love traveling and how I escape the matrix is doing just that. I’ll be in Toronto for 4 days next weekend & in the meantime keeping myself busy and productive. This is great wisdom that can guide you to peace 💯🙏🏾
Strongly agree with your points in this video. I became socially anxious and awkward being isolated in 2020. I fell into work sleep eat repeat and felt like everyday was meaningless. Unknowingly I was depressed. Now I draw, practice singing, read, study Spanish, go to the gym, I want to learn how to skate too. Seeing improvement in hobbies makes me feel fulfilled with the life I’m living 🤍
Thanks a lot Lynette, this reminds me how over stimulation has tricked us into forgetting how to entertain ourselves be a bit more alive and just to get out to enjoy and experience our day2day life.
Thank god for your page. I feel like theres no guidance for people in their 20s and you are like a rolemodel for this phase of life. this was really helpful and inspiring!
i 100000% agree with everything you said. i finally played tennis today with a new friend after wanting to play it for years with someone. i’m hoping we make it a consistent thing. it was such a fun and great workout. definitely over having so much free time and being in bed lol
As someone who undergone mandatory service with the EMS for 2 years, staying busy with that job gave me mental clarity. No overthinking, no guilt and no staying up late at night depending on the shifts. That was like the first time ever loving the job. It's rewarding I wish I could stay or to extend. Yes being busy is way better than staying in bed coz its not good
I think starting productive in the morning is better for mental health but sometimes you have to let yourself sink for a minute - it’s a flow for me, based on my levels of burnout. ❤
I say this under every video you are my damnnnn guide! Every single issue I’m learning to navigate here you go! We really all are connected! I’ve just realized I’m in freeze mode and that’s because I stopped being busy! I have to find a balance now 🧘🏾♀️ BTW, you look beautiful babeeeee 💚💕💫

be more intentional with your schedule and routines, find things that excite you when you wake up and built that into your routines, or skill you want to acquire you
have things consistently that you look forward to doing hat are new and different, schedule things through your week or month and go on and do things that are fun and exciting
