Hey Kyra, that’s such a good idea to go through already owned colouring books to find Christmas pages, or pages to “Christmasfy” I need to do this and make my December colouring plans. My Christmas wish list is also all colouring related, my sister has bought me the 30 set of neocolor 2s, like you I plan to add other colours open stock to build my collection of them. I have the Inktense already, I started with the 36 set, and have steadily bought more open stock, I’m only short about 20 for the full 100. I can’t wait to see you using Inktense & Neocolors on your pages, your work is always an inspiration for me.
I'm so glad you found this video helpful! It sounds like you have an amazing collection of supplies going. Hopefully I'll have lots of Inktense & Neocolor pages soon 😉💖✨
What great creativity to look for pics in your already existing collection and color them Christmas. I am going to do just that. Love your ideas and talent!!!
Ohhh such fun ideas! I had no idea Barbara did that page, and super geeked about it ❤ Can’t wait to see what you come up with and what tutorials you lead! You’re fantastic ❤thank you 😘
And all those years, I thought I was the only one without an Anna Karlzon book!!! Thank God you’re here! 😁 BTW, I love love my Japanese wreath coloring book 🥰
I actually were in contact with Hanna Karlzon regarding her book a couple of weeks ago. Even though I live in Sweden, it was nearly impossible for me to get a copy of her book, cause I waited a bit to order it. According to her, the first edition is completley sold out, and the Publisher don't have any plans on releasing a second edition in the near future. There will be a english version coming out next Christmas though.
@apicturedpurpose I actually emailed Tukan Forlag this week asking if they are publishing more copies of God Jul and they confirmed they will be in 2025... the English version I think comes out next year towards the 2nd half of the year though - hope that helps or at least mitigates the FOMO feeling (like I have!!)...in the meantime, Seasons by Hanna Karlzon has quite a few Christmas illustrations in it though 😊
Great episode! You inspired me to look at pictures in non-Christmas books to see how I can alter them for a Christmas color. I found one in Hanna Karlzon’s book ‘Tales from the City Among The Stars’, a dragon and a lady whom I’m altering into Mrs.Claus and Rudolph dragon! I haven’t had this much fun coloring in a long time!!!! When I finish I’ll post it in instagram and tag you as my inspiration to try new things. Thanks again!👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
It was so fun hearing your ideas on how to make pages more Christmassy! Perfect for those with a more limited collection and have less Christmas pages available to colour! 💕 every book on your wishlist are so beautiful!! 😍😍 if you do plan on getting some Japanese books I recommend getting at least 3 on Amazon Japan to justify the shipping more! 💕 I think your colouring style would look absolutely amazing in fairytales and folklore and wald und natur! 😍😍
Thanks so much Jess! And for sure, I'll definitely do a larger book order on Amazon Japan (hence why I have four books on my wish list 😜). I really hope I can get my hands on Wald und Natur as well 😍
What a great video! I have the Johanna Basford Christmas book (thrifted) but I’m sure there are more christmassy pages in my other books (off to have a look☺️)🎄
I have the Polar bears in the snow globe page in my wish list for this season. It would mean a lot to follow a color along from you, since I’m just starting my coloring journey. Your coloring style is amazing.
This video shows how creative you are!! ❤ I think you need to do one of the underwater ones for sure(maybe get a double page spread off your list?)! 🌊 Lots of fun pages and inspiration to look at things through Christmas colored glasses!! 🎄 That hanukkah polar bear was adorable!! 🕎
Thank you for the fantastic suggestions! I love the idea of diving into an underwater theme for the Christmas season. Hopefully I can make it happen 😅💖🌈
I have asked for Johanna Basford's Christmas book for two years in a row and I told my family if I don't get it this year there will be consequences 😂 I know I could buy it for myself but it seems like I never get around to it. It's funny that this was your topic because I was looking through some of my books trying to see if I could make them more holiday themed. I'm happy to see you had a similar idea 🙂 I have an Eriy book and if I'm being completely honest it's not my favorite. Her paper is very high quality and her illustrations are so good but for some reason I never feel inspired to color in it. For some reason I always go back to Johanna Basford's books. I just love her style so much and except for Rooms of Wonder (which I'm STILL salty about) her paper is top notch and I'm a stickler for high quality paper. It's the number one thing I look for in a coloring book. I hope you have a wonderful holiday season and a very happy new year ❤
Oh I really hope you get your Johanna Basford Christmas book this year! I think it’s actually on sale on Amazon atm. Maybe that’ll be good incentive for your family to get you it 😉 And thank you for letting me know about your thoughts about the Eriy books! I’ll definitely take that into consideration ❤️
awesome video! I did purchase some Christmas themed books for the holidays but I love this idea that you don't have to and work with what you've got!! I can't wait to see what you color in December!
I'm not into Christmas and in my 20+ coloring books collection I got only one Christmas related book.That is Enchanted Christmas by Teresa Goodridge. Simple and charming if you want something easier.
im curious about the derwent inktense pencils the smaller set but i already have neocolors, and a small 12 colors watercolor palette that hasnt really been used and i found it here at home the other day.. but idk i feel like the derwent intense pencils or the inktense watercolor will give me similar results as the neocolors and the other watercolor palette. ive started to use my neocolors and the watercolor palette too more for background like the sky or big area like the grass and idk maybe im not using em correctly but them and the watercolors get soo streaky and doesnt look good so ive to go with pencils on top which in big areas takes soo long and it also gets a bit streaky too and my hand starts to hurt.. i recently got the romantic country book1 by eriy i reallly like the illustrations and the ones ive seen colored by people are sooo good, i def also want her other ones specially the fairytales one. but i only recently gotten this book1 so i wanna wait a bit maybe before gettin another one. ive been coloring in it. i dop wish it was one sided pages ughh that coloring book of a journey through fairytales with lil forest friends is soo cute too ive seen it colored and sooo adorable!! but yeh some of these japanese coloring books can be expensive 30 to 40cad so i wanna wait for sales maybe
I totally get it! It can be frustrating when things get streaky. Keep experimenting with what you have and I'll hopefully have some more tutorials out soon that'll help you out! You’re doing awesome 🤩
I really love the dahle 133 sharpener :) And yes at 24:00 that's a german coloring book. did I inspire you with 2 of the japanese coloring books ? xD Because I also recently got the eriy one and the one with the fairytales~ Didn't start a page in one of them yet. Can't wait till next year for kerbys dark fairytales and the mythographic dragonspell flip throughs~
Yay! I’m so glad you’re loving the sharpener and the Japanese coloring books 🥰 I’m very excited to get my hands on those products now! I’ve never felt compelled to buy a Kerby book but I will admit that I’m very intrigued to see the pages in his dark fairytales book, that one might get me! 😉🌈💖
You are so welcome! I’m glad it’s found such a great home with you!
Thanks again Amanda! I promise to do lots of coloring in them 🥰💕

@@apicturedpurposeHanna told me the English version is set to release in August of 2025. I was hoping for this year

Oof. $26 cdn for shipping🫤 for Amazon Japan
@lauras4472 yeah it's quite expensive... I tend to order at least 3 or 4 books at a time from there to justify the shipping more! 🥰
Thanks so much Jess! And for sure, I'll definitely do a larger book order on Amazon Japan (hence why I have four books on my wish list 😜). I really hope I can get my hands on Wald und Natur as well 😍

I literally just ordered the 100 set of Derwent Inktense, just because I'm obsessed. I bought the full set of Neocolor 2s earlier this year as well. 😅
Yes! There is no shame in that 😍🌈✨
I think it might be a fireguard in the Year of Witches book. It looks a bit art deco style to me 🙂
Oh that's so true! Thank you for letting me know! We don't know much about fireplaces here in Australia 😅💖
@apicturedpurpose I did think about that 😂
awesome video! I did purchase some Christmas themed books for the holidays but I love this idea that you don't have to and work with what you've got!! I can't wait to see what you color in December!

You’re so welcome! 🥰
Kyra I think you made up the word christmasfied lol. Also only you make it sound normal 😂❤
Oh yes, I'm well aware that "Christmasify" isn't an actual word haha! But it felt like the best description for what I was trying to say 😜
@lucycolours2024.. I totally agree 😂❤❤❤ 💯 normal
