That means a lot coming from Willie, he’s a pretty darn good picker himself! GC was probably one of the most all-around talented individuals to ever live.
Even as Alzheimer’s took its toll and he couldn’t remember words to his songs, they claimed his musical ability never left him. He was truly God’s gift to guitar fanatics.
Things like music seem to stick with people with alzheimers well, I know when my grandpa was suffering with it he always loved music and remember all the music he would listen to when he was young
I saw him at the church where he performed the first number True Grit on this video. It was my home church for many years. Glen was special and such an incredible talent as a musician and singer, a true legend . I miss him.
@@BlackHawkBallistic Tony Bennett has Alzheimer's which cause him to struggle to remember anything, yet when he's on stage he doesn't miss a beat, no pun intended.
The fact that he just stood there, casual as you please, and played that solo like it was nothing. It's truly terrifying, and I don't know if I'm inspired to pick my guitar up or place it gently in a cupboard and try to forget that i ever thought I could play. RIP Glen - you were a talent for the ages.
In 1973 I was 21 years old. My father was an engineer for Kaman and Sikorsky aircraft in Connecticut. I just get goosebumps listening to this what an absolutely amazing performance both musically and vocally you were a very talented man Mr Campbell. If anyone had True Grit it was you. RIP Glen.🕊🕊🕊
We don't have anyone today who can do this. Roy Clark, Chet Atkins, Jerry Reed, Burl Ives, are all gone and Willie can barely get his breath. Glen will never be replaced. The kids don't bother to learn to play.
I think because he made everything he did look so easy, people were foolish enough to think it was. Glenn Campbell was an amazingly talented and gifted musician. The likes of which this world won't see again.
A multi-talented, multi-skilled artist who always made it all look easy to perform live, play complex lead and rhythm guitar and manage to enhance the song by singing it superbly.
Many people have focused on Glen's singing talents which were indeed grand but I doubt that many now know - or remember - what a truly great guitar player he was.
Not sure how this appeared on you tube, but to be certain, I'm grateful . This guy's contribution to the world he lived in was breathtaking. My heavens what a lovely gift from the Gods. Awesome in spades.
Vitality Massage I believe that Glen was one of the first ones to conquer the 12 string guitar not an easy feat. His lyrics were always crystal clear as well you could listen to a song of his for the first time and hear every word. He was truly a talented man.
My mother was a theatre manager when I was growing up and I watched this movie at least a dozen times. Classic all around. Loved the interplay with Glen and John Wayne and Kim Darby
He was one of the premiere crossover studio musicians of his day. Everyone wanted him on guitar in the studio, and he toured with many different bands outside of the country genre, most notably The Beach Boys who he had a long relationship with. Great, great musician and one hell of a guitarist!
I loved True Grit so much and thought that Glen took a great part in it. He could sing, play anf act without any effort at all. A wonderful showman. Evie Miller. England.
Proud of Glen's Scottish heritage. A magnificent guitar player and singer but more importantly, a humble and considerate man. God bless you and your family Glen
I have Always Loved Glen since the first time ever hearing him, decades ago... Never missed a television show or special he was on!! Glen has the purest voice/vocals,.... His vocal range is truly unbelievable.. he hits pitch perfectly everytime and timing on spot. Glen Campbell IS/WAS the BEST guitarist ever, in my humble opinion. He was so respected by ALL the Country Legends and Music Giants!! I listen to him almost daily and, never tire of his songs. no one comes close when you go back all he worked with as a musician; Beach Boys even toured with them filling in when Brian was sick, he was backing guitarist for Frank Sinatra on "Strangers In The Night!! SO LOVED & MISSED♥️♥️🙏♥️
Mr. Campbell will be passed on soon and I thank God I've known and lived to rediscover the magnificence of his songwriting, singing and heart-given performances!
Glen, I loved you for a long time and I will miss you for a long time. I know that you are in a far better place. Love to your family and Peace for them also.
Glen didn't write very much, other than a few early tracks, those credits go to Jimmy Webb in particular, and many others. However he was incredible at taking a song and making it his own.
What a wonderful time it was to have been a part of the North Phoenix Baptist Church during this period. I remember this live and enjoyed seeing this again for the first time since.. Glen's talent was only match by his gracious and kind behavior in person. Miss those days and hope the family is doing well.
The Glen Campbell Show was also aired on TV in Belfast, N. Ireland when I was growing up during 1970's. I was mesmerised by Glen's talent and still am. His guitar ability and beautiful voice is so heart lifting.

The fact he can do them at the same time is amazing. I believe his legacy is leaving his mark on us with his great music.
