      But then I see the Marilyn Manson thing on his shirt. I just get how a Christian would push anything associated with that person. It does say 2013. maybe Cooper converted after 2013..I dunno. I love this interview so much but then there's this, imho, glaring inconsistency.

      I'm 59 years old, and I'm standing here bawling. My Bible says that the only person whose salvation I am allowed to judge is my own, and I fall so far short of the mark daily. I have so much respect for Alice and his testimony. Glen and Roy Clark were insanely talented.

      @@terryjp3050 don't try to use that on me. I know the context of it. It's okay as a Christian to use your brain to discern and reason and spot inconsistencies. It is not a "judgement" of Cooper's eternal destination by me but merely pointing out that Manson's example to this point in his life is not a Christian one - nor was intended to be.

    • @teller1290
      @teller1290 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @Brian Cleveland yeh, I know abstract meaning and Biblical context. The context is hypocrisy, not merely judging or coming to a decision about what is Christian conduct and what is not. This admonition was given immediately following a grievous example of hypocrisy on the part of one or more people. In other words, "Judge not, lest ye be judged," isn't designed to handcuff Christians in approving or disapproving of things in the society around them. It was a warning to Christians engaged in essentially same acts in private that they were publicly condemning. God is not fooled by such conduct.

    I come back to this every once in awhile, just for a smile. To hear Alice tell things about Glen, not as a way to harm Glen, just to tell the truth speaks volumes about their friendship. I remember in the 70's reading all about things like his fling with Tanya Tucker, his drug addiction, and somehow he came through the other side where the sun shines, and it was really hard to watch the documentary because I saw my mom decline to nothing thanks to Alzheimer's. She was our church organist for 50 years, she had learned to play as a girl, and when we finally decided she couldn't live safely by herself we placed her in a nursing home. Her first few years there were great because she would sit down at the piano in the dining room to play and many of the residents would be drawn to the music. Her final 3 years she no longer recognized the piano or what it was for. It was a relief when she did pass away. She wasn't "living" when that time came. There has to be some great music in heaven when you think about all who made music are there when you get there. Rock and Roll will never die.

    Thanks for posting this entire interview. Big thumbs up to the interviewer who simply asked some good questions and let him talk. This is a rare, honest, heartfelt story about a genuine friendship between 2 people who happen to be really famous musicians.

    I never realized how good a guitarist Glen Campbell was. Not only that he was also blessed with a singing voice that would have got him recognition without the guitar. Some guys get it all and he was humble and down to earth and about as graceful as could be. The good Lord has called him home and he’s up there a singing and a playing. RIP Glen.

    Beginning in the 60s i saw many great musicians , singers , guitarists but Glen Campbell had the extremely rare ability to entertain you for hours with just his voice or just playing guitar or whatever instrument he picked up. He was a self taught entertainer in a league of his own. R.I.P. Glen

    Glenn Campbell was a member of the Wrecking Crew, the most important studio musician alumni "ever", enough said and untouchable. Slice Cooper is music history personified. If you dont appreciate these people, you just haven't done your homework.

    Impossible to add any words to what Alice says. A true pioneer, which leaves many wondering what type of God would allow this to happen. RIP Glen Cambell and thankyou for your contribution to the finest & most humble of artforms. Alice, I can't thankyou enough for your honesty and humility in this interview. Bless you all and stay well. Mid 50's fan, from Sydney, Australia.

      When I heard Alice was Christian it was a total disconnected WTF moment. Growing up with him being part of the counter culture and to hear that? Its like if George Carlin came out as Christian after ridiculing everything normal or sacred. Still blows me away.

    I remember getting out of Jr. high school 7th grade for the summer and Alice was the man. In 1972 all you could hear was School's Out blasting from every car radio, Always loved you Alice, I'm 57 and I've loved your music since I was 13!!!!!!!!

    I spent some time with Glen (and his wife Kim) one day and it was one of my most amazing experiences. He was so gracious, so humble, so entertaining as we talked about his music career, his film(s) (he said he was only happy with True Grit but humbly suggested he wasn't that good an actor, I thought he was GREAT!). So full of light, life and love we also talked about his faith and he sung a lil of a gospel song that was a number 1 hit and I got to sing along a lil'. What a thrill. I pray he is resting peacefully asleep in the Messiah... I love that man ... and Kim and his family ... HalaluYaH !

He performed it live at that year's Academy Awards Show."
