*Highly rated, and yet still underrated. He is a true monster on the fretboard, has a unique style unlike anyone else, moves seamlessly between styles, compliments the rest of the band perfectly, never loses the melody. Fixed that for you, Wayne!
Lip syncing, hell, it’s was probably Glen performing the song in the recording studio, so much of the rock music back in the day, it was Glen on guitar and singing harmonies, I believe he played on about 600 songs, beach boys, Monkees, Frank Sinatra and a ton of others, Tina turner, Shelley Fabre’s johnny angel.
It's October 2024. I've listened to Wichita Lineman for decades upon decades and still think it contains the most beautiful line ever written in a song. ...and no one sung it better than Glen.
Thank you Mr. Campbell for being a large part of the upbringing of my brothers and sisters. Raised destitute and impoverished in a small ghetto in southeast Connecticut, you were our hope, inspiration and reason for happiness. I pretty God that you liveda storybook life.
Glen, know you are so loved. Your music moved me so ever since I was a little girl. May you meet our dear Lord, seeing His face and resting in perfect peace. God bless you!!!
Miss him so very much..I was a little girl watching his variety show and listening to every word..and his sense of humor was the best too...when I found out he had Alzheimer's I cried....I was a caregiver for Alzheimer's patients and I knew how hard it must have been for his family...God bless them
Through the back roads of our memories we tend to forget the importance that Glen Campbell had on popular American music. One of the greatest cross-over artists and guitar players of the century. We will be hard pressed to find the likes of his musical talents again. Godspeed my friend..
So VERY GRATEFUL for Him; he made me so very HAPPY in young years. The old Legends die but their LEGACY lives forever; thank GOD there were Video recordings, also. The Dude was AWESOME.
Having been a professional musician for more than 30 years, I've never heard a more accomplished musician and singer than Glen Campbell...his was a gift from God.
I wholeheartedly agree George! I was born in the late 50's. Most of my inspiration came from the 60's and Glen was probably the biggest. Started playing professionally in the mid 70's and Glen is still an inspiration to this day. "His was a gift from God!"
The phrasing on his guitar solos in this video is very good indeed. If I'm not mistaken, wasn't he a studio musician before he embarked on his solo career?
When Glen rips into that solo on Galveston, it reminds you what a world class guitarist he was. It also shows how when a Stratocaster is in the hands of a master player, it is the sweetest, most versatile and vest looking guitar ever. The tone coming from that Strat is phenominal.
Not only has Glen have an incredible voice he is also a incredible musician. His guitar work is second to non. He has such a great God given talent. I love rock and roll but i have always loved Glen and i pray for him every night. I am my mom in laws care giver and i know what he is going through. I have lived it every day for the past 3 years. Bless Glen and his family.
AlexfromSwitzerland I share your memories at 53. Glen could really move you to joy and tears. What a man, what a musician. Loss of such talent is painful. Little by little our childhood is more of a distant past. I am grateful we had Glen and the joy he brought to us all. May he rest with our dear Lord. God bless
The memories of growing up, as I listen to his songs I find myself fighting back the tears. I am 50 as well and the images of my mom and dad listening to his music, Wow! Yes, great times growing up then!!!My father passed away several years ago from Alzheimer's complications..😞such a tragic disease for the whole family...
I'm retiring this year and Glen Campbell has been a part of my Life since childhood in the 60's. He was such an influence on "country/western" type music there's nobody quite like him. Not truly country but more of almost a folk type music when you really listen to the lyrics. He's honestly been a part of my Life more than I ever thought about until I heard of his passing. We lost a jewel and a true human being, flaws and all... RIP Glen
You got that right. Talent like his comes along rarely. Us old guys were lucky to have been able to have enjoyed his wonderful gifts to us. His music will always ring in my mind.
Recently watched CNN's special on Glen Campbell, and it made me search for his music. I grew up with much of his music, and forgot how good it still is! Thank you, Glen, for the music!
What a master. I have been listening to Glen as long as i can rember. Nothing like playing his music an just laying back and rembering the past years, I tell you they were great. Thanks Glen
When he was at the top of his game and the most famous he was the most famous singer in the world (Rhine Stone cowboy on radio all day long) and his tv specials were huge.
I saw Glen Campbell many times LIVE in Las Vegas! He always stunned the crowd Vocally and Instrumentally! He had troubles off stage...YES...but Ultimately he will be Remembered as a Master of the Guitar and a great interpreter of a Lyric!!! YOUR MUSIC IS ETERNAL!!!
DID YA ALL HEAR HE SOLD MORE RECORDS THAN THE BEATLES!!! I GRADUATED IN 1970 WHEN HE WAS AT HIS HEIGHT...I REMEMBER HIS LIFE AND SHOWS!!! JUST LIKE YESTERDAY..THANK YOU GLEN FOR YOUR TALENT AND MUSIC, ALONG WITH YOUR WRITER...
I don't know if it's the age of people commenting on here or the type of music but I have never seen such nice comments on any video I have watched here and I have seen a ton, all types of music. It's really nice for a change not to see people fighting, swearing, or putting down who is playing in the video. ☺
Watched his documentary a couple of years ago. Then here a couple of weeks back, I enjoyed the happy/sad aspects. I think my older brother, or mom had one of his albums in the late 60s/early 70s. Never realized how good it was till now that I'm older.
some of the best songs written at the time. God bless you Glen Campbell for the memories that I have from your songs you will always be a class act . Thank you
I so passionately like his music that I came to watery eyes. tears when it went into "Gentle On My Mind" just thinking about his talent and those days and times when Hollywood entertainer's as Glen Campbell shine on as the best of all time. Those were the days...
I grew up listening to Glen Campbell, every song for lots of chapters in life. But now memories, good memories of my late parents and sorely missed great,Glen Campbell...
Was in Walmart a few days ago and "Galveston" came on the PA. I was surprised to find myself suddenly stopping and getting chill bumps -- most unusual. I had forgotten how much I liked his voice. What a talent. Can't wait to see him in heaven.
Have always loved Glenn Campbell. While riding in the car with my mom , my mom would say when a Glenn Campbell song would come on " Did you know he was from Arkansas? " My mom was from Arkansas. She loved him too.

One of the most talented musicians. It's amazing that he couldn't read music but could still play anything
I was a violinist and couldn't really read music. For some reason our fingers know where to go.

Glen is a unique talent and was given the full order of it. Such a velvet voice, polished style and awesome musicianship.
I came across the Galvaston album in 1975, been hooked ever since. The man's iconic!!.

Witchita Lineman is a song that transports me back to when I was 5 yrs old. Each and every time I listen to it, so melancholic.
