  • I have been making roti at home for years, but different types of flour (Atta) can make a difference, as well as the technique of making the dough, how it's rolled, how it's cooked, how it's stored...and the list goes on!
    Finally, I have come up with measurement and a recipe that has been working for me, time after time.
    So let me show you how I make roti at home, step-by-step, with measurements. I also have a trouble-shooting guide on my website (www.milhaan.com) so check that out too!

    I tried to make Roti today and it worked perfectly! Thank you for the recipe! I love Indian cuisine, traveled to India many times for work. May I ask you for the difference between Chapati and Roti (if there is one?!) Thank you so much. I love your show!

      Christoph Hagen That’s so great to hear!! Thank you for letting me know! Chapati and roti are different names for the same thing. I’m assuming chapatti came from the fact that this is a flat (chapat) bread but there’s no reference for that. Thanks again for your feedback 😃

      Roti is little bit thicker then Chapati, otherwise almost both are same.

    • @ladyluq14
      @ladyluq14 ปีที่แล้ว

      Chapati is a Marashtran Roti which is lightly oiled while on the tava as it is roasted a bit like parathas or theplas. Roti has butter or ghee applied at the end of the cooking stage.

    Hello once again just an update with regards to making my chapattis to rise on my induction hob. The eureka moment actually happened this evening i got them to puff up in entirety i am so joyful considering i have been trying for a very looooooong time. My solution i made them to thick in the past and as soon as they were thin the magic happened. Thank you

      You’re welcome! Don’t give up! Keep practicing and you’ll be successful! Even I started out like you. And different flours need different amounts of water. So keep doing it and make small adjustments until you find what works for you ♥️

    Thank you so excellently and thoroughly explained. I remember when i was a child my mom used to flip the chapattis in the final stqge to get them to raise but that was on a gqs hob. I am somewhat fairly optimistic i can do that on my inductoon hob hope.

    • @MilhaanHome
      @MilhaanHome  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you so much!
      On an induction hob, you’ll need to flip the roti and keep the roti on the tawa & press down on it gently using a cloth or another roti for it to rise. Don’t put it directly on the stove as it will stick! I hope that helps.

      Tried making the roti yesterday but i need help. I followed your method and used my large crepe pan for the roti's however they do not rise alot. I dont know why, however i do have an induction hob but can never get them to rise. The dough is rolled out as indicated in your vlog but no success.

    • @MilhaanHome
      @MilhaanHome  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@RajKumar-zm4ll Each brand of flour is different so make sure you add enough oil and water to make it a workable consistency. Heat is very important when making roti. The tawa has to be hot. And use a cloth to press down gently to help it rise. I hope that helps.
