  • Have you ever tried to make Ghee at home and burnt it? Or it just didn't come out right? Me too!! But under the guidance of my mother, I've learnt the tricks of making really delicious ghee at home! And I'll share them with you in this video.
    There are certain things you need to look for while the ghee is cooking. And there are other tricks too! So don't buy ready-made ghee any more. Get your butter (salted or unsalted) and watch this video.

    Thanks for getting RIGHT into the information. I tried making ghee before and it wound up being brown butter. Delicious, but, not what I wanted. Tonight, after watching your tutorial, I did it while replaying parts of the video over and over. It came out perfectly 🥰. I will save the milk solids in the refrigerator to make rice with.

      @@eps3154 I think that as it contains some fat and salt, you can use it anywhere you’d need those. So you could use a little in roux, melted over grilled meat & veg, or mixed in with hummus, etc.

    We Ethiopian has almost similar butter but infused with cardamun and other spices.
    First, we malt the the butter (not cooked), remove from the stove, add cold water double quantity of the butter and put in the fridge overnight. Second, the next day the butter will be solidified on top, the water and milk will be at bottom. You can remove the water and milk by making a little hole on solidified butter or you can remove the butter from the top and put it on other pot. (This process will help purify the butter with out using longer time heat.) Add cardamom( optional) melt it(cook) on very low heat few minutes, take it out from stove let it set for for 3 minutes and slowly strain it to separate from the remaining spices.

    You probably won't read this as my comment is about 3 years since you made this video. Thank you so much for this, I always buy ghee and was a little hesitant to make my own. It turned out beautiful first time!!. I actually put some of the bottom milk solids into my coffee and it tastes like caramelised popcorn. Amazing discovery for the solids as well 😄.

    Thank you so much... just made a small batch now... smells super .. just letting it cool down now before I pour it into a jar. I made my own butter using double cream... cabt believe how simple it is... just need to have the right teacher!🥰

    I'm years late with this comment but I ran across your video and want to thank you for the excellent tutorial. I have a tricky elecrric stove that turns itself up and down without warning. Even with that challenge, I made perfect ghee by watching how yours simmered in the pot and watching for the milk solids in the bottom of mine. It took me about 50 minutes instead of 19, but it turned out great!

    I made your recipe tonight. I’m now letting it cool. My house smells amazing! I wish there was a “cooking ghee” candle scent. That white cloudy stuff that floats to the top is soooooo salty. I used salted butter.

      If you use unsalted and salted butter both, you can decrease the saltiness. 50/50 or what ever ratio gets it to your preferred level of salt.
      Great in mashed potatoes too, to keep down waste.

    Finally a method where the milk solids are not burned and turned into carcinogens. It should be common knowledge nowadays that everything that is burned turns into carcinogens and should be avoided. Thank you for this.

    Thanks for slow careful explanation with tips on what to watch out for!
    I used to make ghee years ago as a student but thinking back sometimes I used to burn it. Now Im going re make with my favorite salted butters too which are Kerrygold butter or President salted (Though Presidents unsalted is nice too I use it for cakes) Used to use Anchor and Lurpak I recall in my childhood. Thanks I will re make today.

      @@healthhollow7218 😃 no recipes to use the leftovers specifically, but I have videos for Roti and Farsi Puri and I use it in there instead of the salt and reducing the fat by 50% or more. You can try those.😊

    *Pro Tip: I make a huge batch of brown butter and let it settle, pour off brown clarified butter use for frying, keep solids from bottom for all recipes using brown butter! great on green beans pasta etc..!!* this is darker but has 10 times more FLAVOUR!! yumm

    Very well explained, my first attempt today has failed and I have burned the butter , I think my pan was big and I over cooked.

      Yes, it happens! Don’t throw the burnt ghee as you can still use it in some dishes.

    I made for the First Time and it's perfect . Now just needs to cool down . Great Tips . I have electric stove not with gas but i let it at lowest at 1 . And tooks Like half an hour but Looks Like yours.

    I just tried it and it worked pretty well, though I might have used a bit too much heat. Luckily nothing burned, but my milk solids are rather dark brown and my Ghee tastes a bit toasty, yet still delicious. I'll try to be a bit more patient on the next try.

    Hi Milhaan yesterday I made it with 2lbs salted butter as I confidence as the 1st made before with 1lb unsalted butter was turn out good as I followed the recipe said so.
    I also tried your other recipes, most of them always good, I like farsi puri. Thank you so much to share with us as well explained and easy to follow 💐

    I'm trying this method now. I'm using 1 lb of unsalted org butter into a 2 quart sized heavy bottom pot. Can hardly wait to test the end result. I would prefer salted butter, thought about adding some sea salt in with this now but dont want to mess things up. So...next time, using salted butter.
