Thank you for reviewing this vehicle like an adult rather than a spoiled, petulant child. When I finally phase out of my 2002 Echo, I will be getting a Mirage to replace it. Hopefully in wine red with a 5-speed. At that point, I plan to do reviews & maintenance videos because A) I want to prove that all the bratty reviewers are just plain wrong & B) I want to help others keep their Mirages in tip top condition & prove just how durable the car really is.

The more I study this car and drove it, the more I think it is a wise choice for penny pinchers who want reliability and excellent MPG. There was a mpg test done and 2 drivers got over 70mpg by hypermilling it.

At least the reviewer gave the Mirage a "benefit of a doubt" review and didn't trash the vehicle like some reviewers have done elsewhere. As an urban runabout I find this vehicle a good choice for what it is: a good A to B type machine that doesn't pretend to be anything else but a super economical ride, without pretensions. Peace! Now on my third Mirage a 2021 Mitsubishi Mirage SE. I love the Mirages which is obvious but now with the top trim SE for 2022 it looks so nice and upgraded inside with the premium combination leatherette and plaid stitch cloth seat material, cloth on front door panels and front door arm rests, apple car play and android auto, heated seats, push button start, upgraded gauge cluster, led headlights, led tail lights, led daytime running lights, 15 inch 2 tone alloy wheels, larger back up camera and so much more. Me and my friend have each had 3 Mirage/Mirage G4’s and they have been so reliable, fun to drive and amazing on gas. These cars have their quirks but its what makes them unique and fun.

This reviewer was very fair on the car unlike others.
Only sin he committed was bringing up the noise like he expects a Lincoln Town Car level of quietness in this package. I like some noise and the car won't be revving near the red line most of the time.

Mitsubishi knew this car would have limited appeal when they decided to bring it in, but at this point they are desperate for any sales. If they only move 10,000 that will help their bottom line quite a bit. It is going to be another year or two before they can start getting more relevant product here.

With this car, you can get away from sharing company contracts. No one will ever pay attention and hardly anyone will break into. You must keep in mind when you buy it that you will not drive far everyday. And better be in cooler climate, since, it is reasonable to buy it without AC, and manual trans preferable. Peace of mind and convenient to get to community shopping, and occasional travelling "far, far land of dream" vacation to get with money saved while you were seating in pinch quarter travel device.

+symmetry08 Until 95 miles per hour, the 2015 is very silent. Until top speed no vibrations at all. Only the wind noise is too loud above 70 mph. There are only three things annoying me. The wind noise at high speeds, the power steering is vague although the steering itself is very precise, and the sunshade flaps are too narrow. And oh, I drive the Mirage CVT every day for about 2x30 miles... No problems. Very comfortable and easy to handle everywhere. One thing sticks out. The front suspension. I desperately tried to let the car slide. I never succeeded. 40 mph into a sharp hairpin curve? No problems at all in this car. It does not even care. That is what the Mitsubishi EVO IV front suspension does for you. Believe me, I have desperately tried to get ESP active. Nope. It never had to intervene for one second.

Michael Miller I actually did drive an aveo in 2009 for a 300 mile trip. I guess I forgot about it(which kinda says how great it was, or rather not). This and the aveo are terrible. But Chevy knew the catastrophic mistake and dropped it, Mitsu still believes this is a great car. I have driven it. Usually tiny cars like this can be amazing fun in the city because of their skinny wheels and lightweight. But it felt heavy and just awkward to drive fast. I had it on the highway and it was LOUD! I do 90% highway and this car would drive me nuts.
I will admit it's great for an old lady or someone who doesn't like driving but still, where's the passion? I did get 46 mpg in 50/50 driving but the fuel economy isn't worth it for the terribleness of the car. My jetta TDI suits my needs better than anything. But them again, that's what an extra 10 grand gets you. I'd recommend a honda fit. It's a great car.

If Mitsubishi sold this here in the early 90s, then it would be a decent offering (Looking at the stuff pouring out of Detroit at this time you'd understand my meaning).
However, in 2014 where great stuff like the Fiesta, Sonic & Dart is coming of of Detroit's doors (and the Europeans are churning out the charismatic Mini & 500), this car is so outdated it's not even funny. Sure 40+mpg is good and all, but the sacrifices made here (cheap doors, plastic panels, unresolved vibrating 3cylinder motor) are so bad I'm wondering if the officials at Mitsubishi were drinking when they decided to import these sub-compacts to North America.
The only saving grace I have is it's interior space & unexpected luxury features you can get to save face (GPS, Climate control, Keyless button start are nice touches), but it doesn't change the fact it's a cheap 3rd world car trying to hide its upbringing in a nice suit.

Yeah, a used Prius will probably be cheaper and be more economical yet won't punish you on rougher roads.
Or better yet, get a used Civic or Corolla for roughly the same money, much better built & if you don't drive like you stole it, get within ~2mpg difference.
As for the warranty, I call BS. My father's 2009 Outlander also has the 10 year warranty. Sound nice on paper yet comparing the bill to our other car (a 2012 Mercedes C350), the Mitsubishi is costing ~$300 MORE annually to service. WTF?
10 years of warranty and doesn't cover even a defective CV joint or a rattling exhaust heat shield.

      @Trades46 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

buildmorefarms100 I was always under that impression as well. However, an old Toyota Sienna, a Subaru Legacy and now the Mitsubishi Outlander, I'm not so confident to say per annum cost any less than an European car.
Also, Consumer Reports have shown German marques (Audi and Volvo notable) have surpassed a good number of Japanese brands in reliability.

    • @ronaldderooij1774

Trades46 Those consumer reports are probably incorrect. According to big independent Dutch consumer research by Autoweek among its readers, every year again and again it says Japanese cars are still most reliable. What is true is that the gap between Japanese cars and Korean and European cars has grown smaller. I don't know about US cars as they are barely sold here in Europe, so they do not figure in the statistics.

paviaaPS3 Damn right I know what I am talking about, just drive a Nissan Micra which sells about 4K less than the Mirage at 10k base price. You'll see the difference. Same size and class.

Arcticarc1 I don't mind about the feel of the interior. It has to do a job. It is a machine. I dont mind the feel of the knobs on my drilling machine either, to give you some idea of how unimportant that issue is. And the seats are really not hard. Try Volkwagen or Skoda. Those seats are much harder!

Dave -- Mitsubishi still has the Outlander and Outlander Sport. However, the powertrains on both vehicles are still quite lethargic. And the Mirage -- has the really lethargic powertrain.

Billy Sou I agree. The Outlander is actually a pretty competent vehicle that needs only a couple of tweaks to be truly competitive. (Transmission shifting being the only big one).
This Mirage though...what on Earth were they thinking!?
And I can't be the only one who wants the 3000GT to come back...right?

6 years on it is a very fast car in England where i live , as most people now drive Nissan Leaf or Prius very slow cars with top speed and im not kidding of 80 mph lol the Mirage will hit that in 3rd gear ha ha

Skip the CVT and learn how to drive a proper car with a manual...americans...

Well I am a European. I drove manual and automatic in my life. I find manual gearshifting a primitive way of getting the power from the engine onto the road. So now a bought this Mitsubishi Mirage with CVT (my first CVT ever).
