I was 7 in '77. Saw STAR WARS in a sold-out theater. The theater erupted in applause at the end when Han returned to help Luke save the day! EVERYONE walked out happy. It was a matinee, there was a huge line of people hoping to get tickets for the upcoming show, some people from the previous sold-out showing got right back in line hoping for a chance to see it again before every show sold out! It was an amazing experience that I'll never forget!!!😁

Empire strikes back alone has enough amazing cinematography to no diff the entire sequels. That scene where luke and vader fight against the blue and orange freezing chamber, the scene of the walkers towering above the retreating rebels, all the scenes of luke and vader above the pit of death on cloud city, some of the scenes where the millennium falcon is fleeing star destroyers, ect.
I'm so lucky to have grown up watching the original trilogy instead of catching it when I got older, those beautifully shot scenes looked even more magical as a kid and even still look and feel amazing. Lowkey, the original trilogy is the best trilogy. In my opinion, it’s by far the least bad sequel movie. And let’s not forget the scene where kylo ren kills Han Solo. It was emotional, had good lighting symbolism (the red and blue lights symbolizing both sides of the force etc), and the sun completely disappearing to only let darkness fill the area the moment Han Solo gets stabbed

For cgi and cinematography we have to look at what both trilogies had to work with. Personally, the original trilogy had less to the peak of cgi of that time, while the sequel trilogy had more to work with and didn't use all of it. So I'd give cinematography to original trilogy. understand?

I was 7 in '77. Saw STAR WARS in a sold-out theater. The theater erupted in applause at the end when Han returned to help Luke save the day! EVERYONE walked out happy. It was a matinee, there was a huge line of people hoping to get tickets for the upcoming show, some people from the previous sold-out showing got right back in line hoping for a chance to see it again before every show sold out! Empire strikes back alone has enough amazing cinematography to no diff the entire sequels. That scene where luke and vader fight against the blue and orange freezing chamber, the scene of the walkers towering above the retreating rebels, all the scenes of luke and vader above the pit of death on cloud city, some of the scenes where the millennium falcon is fleeing star destroyers, ect.
I'm so lucky to have grown up watching the original trilogy instead of catching it when I got older, those beautifully shot scenes looked even more magical as a kid and even still look and feel amazing. I still get goosebumps watching ep 6 where Luke starts swinging at Vader after he brings up Leia and the music swells. Oh man it's just so much

@@foryou7673 yeah, i totally agree on the fact that it’s overwhelmingly similar to the 4th movie, but AT LEAST the force awakens wasn’t AS BAD as the rest of the sequels, there were pretty good ideas, an interesting world building and a good OST. In my opinion, it’s by far the least bad sequel movie. And let’s not forget the scene where kylo ren kills Han Solo. It was emotional, had good lighting symbolism (the red and blue lights symbolizing both sides of the force etc), and the sun completely disappearing to only let darkness fill the area the moment Han Solo gets stabbed

Honestly speaking, the force awakens is just a new hope with faster pacing, new characters, and better cinematography. I would have to give the first movie to the prequels trilogy just because a new hope doesn’t stand up to standards. It’s slow, had amazing cinematography for the time, started the og trilogy, but only nostalgia keeps it on a list so high.
The only reason why you’re saying the Tfa is better is because it has better cgi otherwise ANH would clear easily story wise and character wise
